I've had a great experience living at this apartment complex overall. The community is clean, quiet, and well-maintained, which made it feel like home right away. The landscaping is always taken care of, and common areas like the parking lot and walkways are kept tidy. Also, Ruben the manager is very attentive and gets things done right away. One of the biggest highlights is the management team--they are responsive, professional, and genuinely helpful. We lived there for a year and all I can say is it wasn't a pleasant stay, first off they accommodate pets more they do kids. They have pet stations all over the complex, with trash bags and trash bins to pick up after your pets, but they don't have a playground for the kids. And there's a lot of kids. The people who have pets didn't pick up after their dogs. There would be dog poop on the flower bed, next to the sidewalk as you would walk from the parking lot to your apartment. They would let their dogs pee next to your back patio. It would smell like poop and pee all the time. They need more trash bins. They would over flow all the time. read more

Updating my review on the mold issue. Your management brought in a third party to test for mold and refused to allow us to use our own company of choice. This obviously shows you were trying to hide something. We were told that the vents and the air ducting would be cleaned out and when the crew came in to do that, we asked what they were going to do. They said NO ONE asked them to clean out the air ducts, just to clean the front of the vents. One of the workers confirmed to me that this was definitely mold, when we confronted you, you said that he didn't know what he was talking about and that it's not mold. So what this is showing is you are unwilling to acknowledge what is really going on because you don't want to be liable. Even to the point that you would allow us to continue to live in a mold infested apartment to save face. When we asked them for this vent so we could do our own test to see if it was mold they told us they "threw it away because it was dirty" if it was just dirty wouldn't you clean it? I don't even know where to start. I thank God I no longer live here. This place was a nightmare. I would give it negative stars if I could. First we were forced to "move in" to a dirty apartment. We were told we had to pay the deposit and first months rent by the 26 (we wanted to move in on the first) because they could no longer hold the apartment. The apartment was not ready the day we got our keys. We went upstairs to our apartment and there where workers still working on it, we were told it would be done by the afternoon. We returned the next day. The walls were dirty, the shower drains were clogged with hair. I had to clean and scrub everything. They had an insect problem. We kept our apartment clean. Washed dishes every day and took out the trash daily but we still would get multiple giant Roaches and ants. The ants would come from the attic (we lived on the upstairs apartment) I called the office multiple times to have them spray the apartment. They only came once and told me they couldn't spray uptop only on the floor. It didn't help. The vent from the Masters bathroom started to leak. We had to put a trashcan on the floor to catch all the water. I once again started calling the office over and over again. It wasn't until one day my bathroom flooded and I slipped. Went to the office and started yelling at them that I would sue that they actually came to look at it. They should of fix the leak and remove the drywall and replaced it but they didn't. They fixed the leak and told me they would come back once the wall was dry. After 2 days they came back and just plastered over the damaged wall. I'm sure there is mold growing. It was time for us to move out. I cleaned the apartment spotless (way better than how I received it) we shampooed the carpets and we went it to turn in our keys. One of the maintenance guys did our walk through ( he didn't even check it) we were in and out of the apartment in a minute and he said all was fine. We had given them a $900 dollar deposit ( 450 was there usual deposit but because we had "bad credit" they asked for $900) I asked the office manager when we would get out deposit back and she said " if you get any of it back it will be after 6 weeks to your forwarding address". 6 weeks after that I get a bill dated April 11, 2017. They kept our whole deposit of $900 plus stated we needed to pay an additional $253.42. The charges are ridiculous and it was incorrect they stated I owed them a parcial rent charged of "162.26" which I had already paid. There was also a "shampoo carpet" charge of $630.23 I called them again. Advised them I had already paid the rent charge and that I didn't understand how shampooing the carpet cost $630.23 ( we had shampooed it our selves) . Was they actually had to "replace" the carpet and that it was a typo, that the Shampoo Carpet charge should of said Replace Carpet. Was told I would get a corrected invoice. On April 25, 2017 I got another INCORRECT invoice. They removed the parcial rent fee but INCREASED the Replace Carpet ( Shampoo Carpet ) fee from $630.23 to now $758.92 WHY?!!! I started calling again. Wondering why it all of a sudden changed but this time never got a response. I got tired of calling and let it go. Now they have sent us to collections! These people have some Nerve! They are crooks! They kept our whole deposit but they are not getting another single dollar from us. If you live here and are planning on moving out. DO NOT CLEAN OR SHAMPOO YOUR APARTMENT. TURN IT IN DIRTY DONT BOTHER THEY WILL STILL CHARGE YOU FOR IT. They do not return your deposit at all and the invoice charges are ridiculous. read more

I live in an upstairs apartment complex and I have a senior dog. when we go for walks he goes outside and potties and comes right back inside. I have lived at silverhawk apartments for one year and this month when I cut my dog's hair I found 21 ticks on him. I was disturbed about the amount of ticks but not upset, I understand that things happen and brought this information and photos to the apartment complex so they could spray. I was informed that they cannot afford to spray the entire complex for ticks so they will only be spraying around mine. You might want to check your dogs. I lived at Silverhawk from Nov 2019- June 2023. Overall, our living experience was fine. I mean its an apartment living so the interior is cheap, the management team/office staff is always changing, and you have loud neighbors. I was happy living here until we gave our 30-day notice. Jorge and his office staff are clearly lacking training, organization and professionalism. The office staff was unclear from the beginning about what their move-out procedures were and what was being deducted from my deposit. No one could really give me a straight answer about what to expect. In the end, they tried to charge me for nail/screw holes in the walls, a cleaning fee for the dirt and grime that had been painted over before we ever moved in and an ozone treatment because we had a cat. After putting up a fight and getting my relator involved, I got my full deposit back. In short, I do not recommend these apartments as long as Jorge is the manager. read more

I've lived at Silverhawk Apartments for over 12 years now and love both the Apartment Complex and the location to Old Town and all of the Restaurants which are some of the best in La Quinta!!! I have lived at Silverhawk Apts for eight years. It has been a very positive experience. There is always a good response to service requests and necessary maintenance has been prompt. (Even if I need assistance with my AC on a Sunday). My rent is very fair and rate increases have been reasonable. I have an enclosed garage which is a bonus. There has never been any security issues and I feel safe. It is a great location and very close to Old Town La Quinta and local services. read more

To expensive for the apartment we are living in. Everything has been braking on us, young kids come to the apartment (they don't live here) and start playing music soo loud at 3 am. One night those kids came again and went to the pool and after I saw them with my own eyes brake my windshield and kicked my car door. The apartment didn't do anything to help me at all. I have lived here for two years and it has just become worse and worse. This year started off with a car break-in followed by multiple fires around the property including within the apartments themselves. Fire outside the apartment were clearly intentional. Management refuses to do ANYTHING to prevent these situations. There was supposed to be a patrol officer; turns out, they have not been showing up and are no longer with Silverhawk. There are supposed to be cameras; turns out, there is absolutely NO surveillance system. The walls are all only five feet, meaning anyone or anything can jump over them and trespass into the property. I have seen both coyotes and sketchy people hopping the fence. Both pose serious safety concerns which management refuses to acknowledge. The poor girls at the front have to hear about and deal with all of these problems while Canon Management sits back and makes money in their offices (which are nowhere near Silverhawk!!!!!). Funny how that works. Do not move here. Avoid it like the plague. I will get out when I finally can, but more importantly avoid ANY property that is managed by Canon Management. They are the real problem. Again, avoid Canon Management, for your own safety. read more

Although my neighbors and community as residents are terrific. The management just can't seem to take the stick out there asses! They have these attitudes as if there better than anybody they talk to and as a high class area you would think they had basic manners. The maintenance guys are great & a big help. You can't have anything outside on the patio, your door must remained shut, I was even told by management not to speak to my neighbors about how things are being handled at our apartment complex! The newly renovated apartments are nice and I've had no issues with neighbors. I would only suggest to keep your vehicle locked and always lock your apartment. My car got broken into last night and was totally trashed. They stole a few things and left my car wrecked. Do not move into these so called "luxury" apartments. Everything about this place is just sad. When we moved in everything seemed okay, then as days went on we noticed more and more. Where the previous tenants had stuff hanging we can tell where those spots were, who ever they had plaster and paint did a horrible job looks like he just got white paint and painted over and you can just see a clump of it. Everytime you flush the toilet black specs come down. Had roaches just days after moving in and we kept are place spotless, and little maggots coming out of the flooring in the kitchen constantly. Are ac unit went out a numerous amounts of time during the middle of June! We had to leave ASAP as we had a 8 month old son and everytime we'd call to see if the problem was fixed yet I was always get told they would call me back when they knew. Never did I get a call back. When we signed our lease it stated we pay for, electricity, gas and trash. Then next months bills came and water and sewer we're both on that bill??? I loved my stay in Silverhawk. I had a one car garage and an upstairs unit facing the golf course. The patio has enclosed stacked washer and dryers. My unit had a vaulted ceiling . Just a note: I didn't believe Maintence when he said leave the AC on 24-7 to help lower my Electric bill but it worked. I set it to say 80 when I'm not home and when I get home I set it to 72. There is a pool with BBQ and fitness center. I know it is important to have a good rapport with the staff and residents alike, as it does wonders. I usually don't review apartments but after reading the other negative reviews I felt obliged, as my stay there was great. They have the old town La Quinta and nice trails in the cove. :) read more

These apartments are horrible for the money . the gates never work, lighting outside in one area was not repaired for 4 months or more. The pool area always looks trashy. With broken chairs. My father in law lives there being older he wont move at this point and time or else I would have had him out of there years ago. He pays way too much for the condition of his apartment, it is in terrible shape he still has linoleum on his floors. The pool area is closed late at night. And people sneak in, tenants are always calling the police because of the noise in the wee hours of the morning . As someone else stated if you can afford to live elsewhere, do it. read more

The parking is absolutely horrible, if you get home anytime after 4pm there is literally no parking, not even handicap because people that dont have the sign abuse the parking space. Office does nothing about the 4-5 personal work trucks that other residents park, they do tell you parking is "first come" which is not worth the money when you have to park outside the gate. Apartments are out dated. In summer all you hear are those annoying summer bugs and when it rains the walking sidewalks flood excessively. Oh and I can hear the snoring from the next apartment over. I do admit maintenance is great and fast to respond and apartments do not have bugs but are cheaply maintained. Cons outweight the pros and I cannot wait for my lease to be over. This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Nothing works, appliances are decades old, hot water is not hot, no water pressure, doors and windows are not sealed and do not close properly. Ceiling fan doesn't work, had to get a brand new ice maker, had to get the shower and all sinks fixed. Kids run around all day un-supervised, shouting and screaming, throwing objects at each other. I could go on and on, and the people that work in the front office care NOTHING about your problems. DO NOT move in here, you will regret it. read more

Great until I went on vacation for two weeks and the apartment manager had my car towed from where I always park... claimed I wasn't authorized to park in front of my apartment... doesn't say it anywhere on the lease... spot isn't marked reserved... parked there for a year prior with no problems. She said I was "storing" my car... I was on vacation for two weeks! I shouldn't have to give you notice that I'm going on vacation... came back to a $400 tow bill. She tried to get a hold of me by leaving me a note on my door and calling me while I was out of the country with no service... even as I type I can't believe what happened. I was initially drawn to this complex for its location (great, near Old Town), and the fact that garage units were included. Those are the best things I can say about the apartment building. The appliances are extremely cheap, being a mass produced complex of units. The dishwasher was so loud, I would only run it before I left the house. The garbage disposal was poor quality and loud as well. Many of the neighboring dryer units become squeaky after time and can wake you from a dead sleep when inconsiderate neighbors do laundry at 2:00 am, with no consideration of the volume of their dryers. The maintenance crew is good, as I assume they fix these crappy appliances frequently, but that is only when they get the work order. The front office service is very poor and requires multiple follow up calls, and requests. My best advice is to document everything requested on email and back it up with photos. When first moving in, be very thorough on the checklist form and don't let anything slide (mark on the countertop, broken items, scuff on the wall, etc...) The cabinets are cheap also and you have to look closely for damage, but they have most likely been repaired multiple times with colored markers. When it comes to moving out and vacating your place, don't bother spending any extra time cleaning or repairing the walls. Unless you have a cleaning company invoice, they will deduct a cleaning fee. I wish I'd known this before I spent three days detailing my place, only to have a cleaning fee deducted. I also repaired the three holes from nails (I barely hung anything up), and was told paint would be needed. After being in only one year, I was told the carpet would need cleaning. Considering the fact that I was a single female with no pets or children and barely home, I found this ridiculous. I assumed carpet cleaning and paint were a normal procedure for a landlord when the tenant vacated. And, they will prorate your rent when you move in, but not when you move out. Basically, they look nice up front, but will try to get as much out of you and your deposit once you've locked into a lease and given them your money. These apartments are not inexpensive and boast luxury living...Spend the extra money and just get a house in the cove, it will be worth it to not have the hassle of apartment neighbors and a corporate entity that doesn't care about their tenants. read more

Be very careful about renting from this company. The bills for the apartment are very high, you pay for everything: sewer, water, gas, electric, internet/tv/cable, trash, etc...it seemed to me like some things I paid for twice. And you WILL NOT get ANY of your deposit back, no matter how well you clean or take care of things, they consider the deposit money a payment to get the apartment ready for the next sucker, I mean tenet. That said, the apartments themselves are very nice. And the garages are great. The pool is often filled with children, but is pretty nice. The pedestrian gates open only with a key on the inside and outside, which is very likely a fire code violation. If you have a large income then this is a nice place to live. If your income is limited, beware! read more

This is the nicest apartment I've ever lived in, and one of the cheapest in the area (not counting the dumps), and it includes a garage with the rent which is great. The walls and windows are well-insulated so any outside sound stays out and air conditioning stays in (my energy bills were low here), the appliances are new (never needed to call maintenance), the AC is quiet, there are laundry machines in the patio storage room, the water pressure & temperature is consistent, and it's in a nice neighborhood. The drive in is scenic because of the mountains right across the street. The units are a bit small, and the staff doesn't seem to really care too much about their tenants and can be a little aloof at times, but it's not too bad because you shouldn't need to contact them much. My advice to anyone moving here: if there's a unit available facing the "golf course", pay the extra 5 bucks a month and take it, because it's worth it to be able to open your patio and not be staring into someone else's living room. You don't see the course itself because there's a hill there, but it's privacy that's well worth the extra money.
