At first, I was impressed by his thorough note-taking and the amount of time he spent reviewing our histories. In that respect, he appears to provide a high-quality service I agree with other reviewers who have criticized his prescribing practices. Even if a patient is already taking numerous supplements--which is generally inadvisable--he routinely adds more. Excessive supplementation can overwhelm the liver and other regulatory systems. A sound long-term health strategy usually emphasizes fewer supplements at lower doses. Based on my experience, he seems more focused on selling supplements from his in-house vitamin shop than on minimizing risk to the patient. His approach could best be described as a "shotgun" method. He frequently prescribed four or five supplements or medications at once, making it impossible to determine which product is helping, which is ineffective, or which may be causing adverse reactions. In my wife's case, most of the supplements and medications either caused side effects or had no benefit at all. More concerning was his apparent lack of interest in identifying root causes. My wife's care focused almost entirely on symptom management rather than diagnostic testing. It was only after persistent urging on my part that he agreed to order a breath test for SIBO. When the test returned positive for hydrogen-dominant SIBO, he dismissed the result outright--despite confirmation from her primary care physician and the testing company. After several more unproductive visits, we paused treatment and pursued further evaluation independently. A colonoscopy revealed small-mouthed diverticula in the ascending colon near the ileocecal valve. These pockets can trap stool, promote bacterial overgrowth, contribute to SIBO, and potentially trigger mast cell activation. My wife's symptoms align closely with both conditions. At our final appointment, I informed him that I had important new diagnostic information to share. Despite this, he continued prescribing additional supplements. Only near the end of the visit did he ask about the new findings. After explaining the colonoscopy results, he again denied that she had SIBO. This raised an obvious question: why were medications and supplements prescribed before meaningful diagnostic work was done? Why did I have to initiate these tests myself? My own experience with peptides raised additional red flags. My first peptide order was shipped from a pharmacy in Phoenix, Arizona, on a day when temperatures was around 100°F. The peptide arrived two days later already reconstituted, packaged with minimal insulation and a single small ice pack. Peptides are fragile compounds that degrade easily when exposed to heat or transport stress and should never be shipped after reconstitution. When I raised these concerns, Dr. Smith insisted the peptide would still be effective, but that is not what the science says. That shipment cost me approximately $200 in unusable product. I later ordered a different peptide during cooler weather. This time the peptide arrived lyophilized, but it took over 14 hours at room temperature to fully dissolve--far longer than expected. After injecting, I experienced flu-like symptoms and contacted Dan Smith again. He offered no explanation for the prolonged reconstitution time, no guidance on whether the reaction was normal, and no clear dosing protocol. Despite presenting himself as an authority on peptides, he could not provide a standard epitalon protocol or explain expected side effects or indicators of efficacy. I paid him specifically for guidance, yet was left to figure everything out myself. Ultimately, I discontinued use, resulting in another $300 lost--bringing the total cost of unusable peptides to approximately $500. Dr West, not ABO Certified, caused significant bone loss to my lower jaw which he failed to notice…read moredespite my repeatedly expressing concern. He continually reassured me everything was anchored in bone. When I sought another opinion, the bone was basically gone. It is not repairable, no grafts, it wont regrow. He left broken brackets on my lower jaw for most of the year, it was painful and inflamed. He said it could wait. When finally changed the assistant was so unskilled I ingested a large amount of the primer making me sick and her "chest" endlessly on my face nearly gave me a panic attack. Awkward and a little weird from the first arm punch a few months in to treatment, and with increasingly uncontrolled body language and contact, I had an anxiety attack in office from too much touching. Shortly after that day, Dr West whispered into the top of my head one day as I was lying in the chair, that he had been watching me and honking at me in my personal time. This was 18 months in to my treatment and had been going on for a long time. "Do you ever hear horns tooting at you when you're out walking? That's me, I honk at you when I see you walking." It was a LOT of honking, 5+ times in a 10 min window, I walked every day. After that problems began in and out of office while walking, including his wife aggressively entering my personal space and having items thrown at me from moving vehicles. Today, after not walking for several months she came straight at me when I did. Sunni West will not stay out of my personal space and seems to have a desperate need to almost touch me. I honestly feel bad for Dr West, which is more empathy than he has for me. Had he not gotten "confused" and told me he was there, I still wouldn't know. His wife still wont leave me alone nearly a year later. Shes very plain, appears older than him, and keeps pushing her way into my space, forcing me to notice her. Shes exhausting. Hes clearly not happy and clearly not paying attention and he ruined my jaw and my safety because of it. They have not provided my remaining legal record, Dr West rubbed his body all over my head because he had to repair his own failed bond after 2 months. He called me and told me all I do is complain, but couldn't tell me about what, apparently its complaining if you need him to deal with his failures. He said "I don't FEEL appreciated", with all the touching and stalking I assume he thought he was going to get something out of me in his personal time. "Do you think this is how I handle all my patients? Do you think I do this for everyone?' I asked what he meant by that and he just kept repeating "Im not doing this with you." Doing WHAT?? He said he helped me out refunding my over payment for early cessation of treatment, I still paid him to destroy my jaw...THATS helping me out? And he said he went "above and beyond" texting me nights and weekends which there is no record of because they have NO records of anything questionable. I guess accountability really is difficult for him. Understand, he has NEVER admitted wrong doing, he is SNEAKY and manipulative and his staff protect him, NOT you. They violated my privacy sending my chart to the wrong address and will not acknowledge it. Holly stonewalls and gaslights, provides liability disclaimers for their own statements which sounds to me like they're admitting that they're lying. These are basic conduct and record requirements, literally the bare minimum level that they have repeatedly failed to perform. The bare minimum bar was too high. A reputable professional office would not have that problem. No bone, no gum, no teeth, no face, no future, no record, no peace, no privacy, no safety. West Orthodontics, enjoy the trauma bond, get some therapy and smile while you still can. They're probably watching you. They're still watching me.
