I am so happy with my haircut done by Sam....it was the first time I walked out of a salon and did not have to go home and "fix it" . She listened to what I had to say and actually did it. I have fine hair and every place I have tried wants to use a razor to get the cut I want. Sam agreed that a razor does not really work well on my hair type (thank God). The very next day, my hair looks and falls in place great..I don't have to wait unitl it grows a liitle or anything, it's just perfect. I visited the Silvermoon Salon for the first time this week, and it was fantastic! I made my appointment online, an option that I really enjoy. The person at the front desk, whom I believe is one of the owners, greeted me warmly and introduced herself. I had an appointment with Tori and she was ready for as soon as I arrived. She listened to what I wanted, but also improved on my ideas, so I ended up with a great haircut! As a bonus, the shampoo chairs were the most comfortable chairs ever! Not only do they make you feel welcome from the minute you walk in the door, but the quality of their services and products are top notch. They really care about their clients and it shows! Recently moved to Oak Park and was looking for a local hair salon. Luckily I checked Yelp and found Silvermoon Salon in La Grange! The wonderful experience started the second the owner Kelly answered the phone. I was able to get an appointment with Eric the same day. I went in for highlights, low lights and a cut. After a professional evaluation by Eric I only needed a few high lights. He was able to solve years of bad hair cutting in one sitting. His compassion for is work is obvious as he explained how cutting your hair a certain way will provide a certain result. It's rare to find such professionalism, talent and enthusiasm in a hair salon, but this one has it all. The décor is beautiful and relaxing and the shop is immaculate. I would recommend this salon to anyone without hesitation. The great customer service didn't end with there. I had asked about pedicure locations, as this is not a service they provide. Before I left the Kelly the owner had googled directions to a mani/pedi place that was local and printed the directions for me, since I am new to the area. That was way above and beyond! A few days later I got a card in the mail thanking me for stopping in and an email with a $10 coupon. I will definitely be returning! read more

I love this salon! It's near home so I didn't have to travel far for a great experience. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. When making the appointment I was told about the stylist skill level and pricing based on skill level. So I think there is a stylist for everyone's budget. The decor is nice & modern. I was in the stylist chair within 5 minutes of my arrival. Thank you for taking my time into consideration. I was very pleased with my haircut. The best part is that at the first visit they give you a $20 dollar credit towards your next visit! Great business move but even if I didn't have a $20 dollar incentive my bet would be that I would be giving this establishment another visit. read more

I've been to Silvermoon Salon for a haircut for myself and for a haircut for my autistic toddler. Both of these experiences were with Sam and were exceptional. I was truly amazed by the level of compassion, flexibility, and patience she had with my son. We've previously been taking him to another kid specific place nearby where we had nothing but terrible experiences. I talked to Sam about my son during my haircut and I decided to try it and made an appointment for him. She made him feel comfortable and found alternatives when he became upset by the clippers and blow dryer. It was his first year free, scream free, fight free haircut and we will continue to visit Silvermoon Salon. It was well worth the extra $10. This salon is delightful. It's chic, but also comfortable, and the staff is as friendly and as accommodating as you'd ever want. Eric is my stylist at Silvermoon Salon- and by far, the absolute best ever. I'm naturally a pretty dark brunette, and have had a really tough time in the past, at other salons, trying to go blonde. Then my hair met Eric. I have never before gotten SO many compliments on my hair- even other stylists come up to tell me how amazing my blonde looks! Instead of trying to "steal me"as a client, THEY are interested in going where I go to get my hair done! I can't even imagine going to someone else- it's like Eric has a sixth sense about what is going to look amazing cut and color-wise. Today was the first time at this salon. From the second I called to make an app i knew I was going to like it. On the phone, the co owner was great at being accommodating to my schedule. I called last week Friday because I desperately needed a haircut as my end were damaged and she was able to work her magic and fit me in, in less than a week. I went in and the place looks beautiful. Nicely decorated and was greeted immediately upon entering. Liz did a wonderful job listening to what i wanted and asked me questions about my hair. I was on the fence about 2 different colors. She helped me decide and boy is she good at what she does. She explained the process she was going to take with my hair. She kept the conversation going which is a great plus because I've gone to other salons where I feel like the conversation was forced. She also asked if I wanted something to drink and she just made me feel comfortable. I LOVE how my haircut and color turned out, it is exactly how I envisioned it. I made my decision to come to this salon based on all the great reviews, but sadly I never got to get my hair done. I went in for a highlight/balayage touchup with Trisha who unfortunately freaked out at all the outgrowth of my hair and felt that she couldn't do it. Despite my roots being down to my ears I feel that a highlight touchup is a routine service for any salon and stylist. To hear that my hair will come out "muddy" and not blend right is false. I am a hairstylist and if I could do my own highlight I would. I should have known something was up when she was gone for a half hour in the back room. I was told it would be 300 dollars and I would need to come back twice because it would not be down in one day. Trisha also told me that she didn't have any time to even start, but that could have been because she was gone in the back for a long time. All in all she said it could not be done and to REALLY think about and dwell on it and then come back. I honestly feel that she got overwhelmed and I feel that maybe your hairstylists need some further education. I was hoping this salon would have worked out me like it does for everyone else on here. In the end I did find a salon who ended up doing my highlight/balayage with no problem in one day for less than 600 dollars. read more

I have been to the salon many times for all kinds of services - color - cut - smoothing, etc. It's a beautiful shop, the staff there are so polite and accommodating. Once I was a little disappointed in my touch-up and got a call the next day to come back - free of charge - and they would work with me until I was satisfied. I'm a customer for life! read more

I have been seeing Lauren at Silvermoon Salon for 9 years, long before she worked there, and I love her. She is an excellent colorist and has colored my hair in many different colors, including making me platinum blond, doing an excellent ombre when that color was really popular, regular highlights, and just giving me an all-over color to enhance my natural color. She also does awesome hair cuts. What I like best is that she will say "hey, I just learned a new technique" or "I saw a style that I think you'll like" and she'll ask if she can try it on me and it always comes out great. To me, being innovative, keeping up with trends, and learning new techniques is really important in a hair stylist. Lauren also cuts the hair of my 3 girls (5, 4, and 2) and she is great with them. She's really patient and their hair always comes out cute. It's a little more pricey than going to Kid Snips or something but the quality is so much better. The salon is also really cute. It's not a big place so it's not overwhelming to go to and every one else who works there is really nice and accommodating. The only downside is that Lauren doesn't work as much as she used to and she books up quickly. As long as I make my next appointment before I leave it's fine. I was a new customer this spring, having used the same hair dresser for about 10 years. Started feeling like I wasn't important at the old salon. Wow, I was in for a nice surprise at SilverMoon. I found the salon by asking a lady at the Post Office where she got her hair done because it looked so nice. On a whim, I booked an appointment with that same stylist, Susan B. I was amazingly surprised the minute I walked through the door, I was greeted by name, and introduced to others. One of the owners of the salon actually sat down with me while I waited to tell me the birth story of their salon. Being a midwife, I could really appreciate that! It was nice to hear their story. So, when Susan met me, she did a thorough evaluation of my likes, dislikes, evaluated my facial features to optimize the style, etc. I told her I had my little quirks and she just laughed. Made me feel very comfortable. She was even concerned about "cutting off too much" the first time since she didn't know me. I am dreadfully behind in getting my haircut there again, but I will go back in a heartbeat. Very very pleasant staff make you feel like you are their most important customer. Kudos to Susan for staying late just to make me happy. Highly recommended, and yes Susan B, I am coming back!!! I have just been busy birthing babies!! :) read more
