Yes this place is literally twice as much as the theater just down the street from my house, however, I ended up here because the theater just down the street changed the time of the movie at the last minute. Lame. So my daughter looked up the next closest theater showing The Black Panther (an amazing movie), which was Silverspot. First, you purchase tickets via a screen which was incredibly fast and super easy. You get to choose your seats so no rushing in to get a good seat. Then, you walk in and the smell of leather wafts through the air; while I love animals and will fight for their rights, I unabashedly also love the smell of leather. There are huge, overstuffed leather seats for everyone! These are so comfortable I could watch movies here all day long. They also have a little tray to put your drinks and food on, which is so clever. And clean! This place was literally spotless! The rows are set up so that unless Eric Montross sits in front of you (which actually happened to my daughter once) no one will ever block your view! Guess what else they have? Servers in the theater with a full menu to order from. What? Pure genius. Dinner and a movie all at one place. I realize I sound like a country-visits-city gal who is overwhelmed by all the city lights and glitter. Well, I rarely go to the movies because I can't stand the high cost, the crowds, the tall people who inevitably always sit right in front of my shorter self, and the dirty, uncomfortable seats. So, I was sincerely overwhelmed by this theater and every detail they've thought of and implemented so perfectly. Anyone want to loan me $15 so I can go to this theater again? read more

I used to love and rave about this theatre. That is, until July 13, 2023. My husband went to see The Sound of Freedom in theater #9. The room was too warm, uncomfortably so. We didn't know why but wanted to see the movie. I realized that the rest of the place was as cool as should be. This makes me wonder if that 'conspiracy' that I heard about later on was true. That some theaters purposely turned the A/C up or off so that customers would ask for a refund rather than sit through this 'supposedly contraversal' movie. The thought that that could be true just shocked me. Therefore, I wrote to Silverspot. The fact that I never heard back makes me think that there are some political issues with them. Some friends and I went to Silverspot for the first time since the pandemic and really enjoyed it. They've upgraded the theatre seats and entry way. Now you can purchase tickets with kiosks, see what seats are available, and choose ones away from others if you want. The theatre had really comfortable seating and the popcorn was great. Silverspot Cinema has everything a young professional could want in a movie theater (except recliners). For the price of admission you get a spacious, comfy, upholstered chair reserved just for you in a theater that's NOT jam-packed with as many seats as they could cram. It's always impeccably clean, wide aisles, it even has loveseat sofas instead of single chairs in the first few rows. I absolutely love that I can reserve my seat with my ticket, and wander in past the previews or any time I want to get the best seat in the house. And even if it is a full showing, their so well-spaced, and each armrest has TWO cup-holders, that you never feel like you're in your neighbors space. But hey you say, Regal Cinemas now does the fancy reserved seats too. And to that I say: but do they allow me to get a cocktail with dinner and take it with me into my movie? Do they allow me to order a cocktail with my popcorn and deliver it to my seat in the movie? Do they allow me to order a cocktail on my way UP THE STAIRS in the theater... you get where I'm going with this. AND, like all movie theaters these days, they've got the Tuesday special! $8 tickets and $7 popcorn+drink combo makes a Tuesday night movie here cheaper than the big-box movie on a Friday night, and gobs more luxurious. OH! I didn't talk about the bathrooms. The bathrooms here are like a country club: individual stall, fancy sink space, well thought out, clearly labelled vacancies -- rather than the high school bathrooms of a Regal or AMC. And definitely no condom machines on your way out. TLDR: the classiest theater in the triangle, for classy people. read more

We were truly nervous about going to a show here after reading the reviews, but we went on a Saturday night at 8:30 and it was an overall pleasant experience. We ordered our food at our seats with a friendly staff member and it was brought to us during the previews. The food was great, well prepared. The only thing that was a bummer is that we ordered and paid for desserts that they ended up being out of, and they were out of our second and third choices too, so we ended up with the only thing they had left, chocolate cake, but it was good. They did offer to refund us if we would have chosen not to get a different desert. The food really isn't too much pricier than restaurants in the area. The temperature was good, not too hot, cool enough. The chairs don't recline, I wish they did, but they are comfy otherwise. I came to see Deadpool 2 on the Tuesday after the opening weekend. It was nice to be able to buy Tuesday tickets in advance on Sunday with the same discounted Tuesday rates. Despite my previous misfortune with the food delivery, I was so hungry that I ordered pretzel bites at the counter. I was told it would take about 20 minutes. The food never made it out... again :( After the movie, I asked an employee for a refund, and he directed me to the manager. I explained my situation and this time around, the manager was very apologetic, gave me the refund and gave me a certificate for the business. This is my first visit to this theatre as my family and I just moved here to the state. It was recommended for the experience...not our luck. Wr ordered food from the online option and it was supposed to be delivered to our seat. 50 minutes later, we never received our food!! And we watched as other people received their delivered order. We came to see Super Pets and have a family experience. Now the movie is almost over and this was an awful experience. Our 4 year old watched the whole movie without his food. They are not maintaining ANY distance between seating, allowing people to book the seats right next to you. The seats on either side of us were empty when I booked our seats- and yet the theater allowed someone to book the seat directly next to us after we booked. With the Delta variant increasing every day, this is both irresponsible and completely unnecessary in a theater that was almost completely empty. The seats and tables were sticky, leading me to believe they are also not cleaning properly between showings. This was our first moviegoing experience at this theater and we will not be back. Definitely not worth the money (and it is expensive) if they can't even be bothered to maintain basic safety protocols for their guests. My favorite place to watch a movie. 5 stars for the cinema, 3 stars for the food! Comfortable, wonderful seats. Super nice friendly staff. Yelp should really remove that stupid poor, recent review which was absurd. Shrimp lettuce wraps were not a good value, tiny and adequate tasting and the chicken wings were expensive and good, but were delivered luke warm. I really wish I had read the reviews about the food and customer service issues before choosing to go to this theater. I placed a food order for over $50 + tip right at the start of the movie. 40 minutes in and we haven't received any parts of our order. I figure that they're just running behind because of short-staffing, or that there was a tech issue with my order--annoying, but it happens. I leave the theatre and head to the concessions stand. The lines for the concessions stand are extremely long, but all the people waiting in line are able to get the food that they order. I speak to someone who seems to be a manager. I explain to her my situation, she takes a photo of my order + seat # from my phone and tells me that my order will be there soon. That sounds good to me, so I head back to the theater. Turns out, that was a lie. We're an hour into the movie, then an hour and a half, and then two hours without anything having been delivered. No one else in the theater (save a single couple in the front) received their orders either, as far as I can tell. I assume that the other people were in the same boat as us since I see several other people leave the theater. I decide against trekking to the concessions stand again, and I figure that someone from the theatre will just apologize and tell us how to get our refunds at the end of the movie. Wrong again! The movie ends, and no staff member mentions anything. I head to the bar, find the manager, and ask for my refund. No apology or explanation of any kind was offered. I understand that the staff + managers are probably struggling with crowds and understaffing. I can empathize, and I was more than willing to be patient. But it's pretty messed up that this business took my money, didn't deliver (while also taking money/serving the people in line at concessions), and then didn't offer any explanation or clear directions for refunds. I have yet to see the refund appear on my bank statement, so hopefully I didn't get scammed again. I would not return to this theater again. Alamo Drafthouse in Raleigh operates with basically the same concept but has much better communication with patrons and service. read more

Comfortable seating, quality movie viewing experience, and convenient menu ordering process, at a high price. The tickets are certainly pricy at nearly $15 a ticket. The seats are very comfortable but they do not recline. When purchasing your ticket you reserve a spot in the theater, which is really nice. I watched a movie here on a Friday night for the first time. I was very impressed by the fancy bathrooms and theater. On our way in we were asked a couple of times if we wanted to order anything. We were unsure of what was on the menu or what we wanted to eat (since we just ate dinner) so we took a few menus to our seats. After looking at the menu, a friendly employee came up to our seats to take our order. This was of course very convenient and efficient. We ordered several desserts that were quite expensive. The small slice of chocolate cake shown in the picture was nearly $10! The two other people I was with also ordered wine. Although the desserts came out in a reasonable amount of time, the wine took a while. The desserts were small and pricy but they did taste good. I do wish they were not served in so much wasted plastic, especially since we would be eating it in the theater. Our desserts arrived packaged separately, with plastic utensils, and in a large plastic bag when all we needed was a plate and a spoon. The seat has an adjustable table making it easy to eat during the movie. The sound and visual quality of the movie was great. Overall, we enjoyed visiting this theater. It is a little out of my price range and is far from where I live so it is unlikely I will return, at least not anytime soon. The quality of this theater has sadly dipped since it opened about six years ago. I've never ordered food here so I can't speak for that element of the establishment--all I can comment on is the presentation of the films themselves. Unfortunately, the management seems to have let their standards go, and the projection has suffered from it. Films are nearly always distractingly out of focus and way too dim. I'm not sure if they're not calibrating their lenses properly, or their bulbs are dying and they just won't replace them, or a combination of the two, but the end product is a very ugly and hard to watch presentation. So blurry and dark. I honestly prefer to watch movies on a TV at home over seeing them this way, which is not something I should be feeling about a movie theater. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on here mentioning this aspect of the theater (probably the most important aspect!). My plea to management: please, please replace your bulbs and keep a standard of focusing the projection so that we can actually see the movies. read more

I've seen a couple of movies at Silverspot and it is an A-OK theater. While I think the sound is really great, I think I have been spoiled with reclining seats in many other theaters in the Raleigh/Durham area. So the fact that the seats here don't recline, just doesn't make it worth it to me. The prices are comparable to those at the theaters with the reclining seats, so I rather go to those instead. As for concessions, it is obviously expensive like any other movie theater. But there is a bit more variety since it has a restaurant attached to it. You can order alcoholic drinks as well. We didn't try any of the food, but we did get a large ICEE for $12. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this theater. But I did notice that when reserving tickets/seats online, you can get more availability on the day of than I have seen with other theaters. I think this is due to the theaters here being able to hold more seats since there aren't reclining seats and it might not be as many people's go-to theater in the area. read more

Have not been to Silverspot in quite some time. Went tonight and was quite disappointed at how dirty the theatre was. Tray tables in our theatre were not cleaned as you could see 'grease' marks on them. Additionally, we had to take the elevator down and was surprised at how dirty the carpet was in the elevator. Clearly that needs to be put on someone's To Do List to check on a regular basis. Hope this review is read and cleaning protocols are put into place. read more

Wow this place is NIIIIICE. Like, too nice for Chapel Hill. It has a full service bar (which serves pint-sized cocktails!) and entire MEALS which get delivered to your seat right before the movie starts. Of course, they're priced really high because #MovieTheaterPricing, but that's common so I'm not docking any stars for that. In the theater the seats are super plush and comfy and there's a table attached to each seat (which can be moved) so you can easily eat your food. They've also got some really fun events - they don't only play new movies, but also have throwback movies every week! I appreciate them keeping it interesting and mixing it up. This is part of a growing trends of more upscale movie theaters with reserved seating and food. COVID has definitely impacted them but it is still a good way to see a movie on the big screen. We went twice recently, once pre-ordering seats online and once showing up and purchasing our seats on site. Doing it online costs a little more since a fee is attached. I remember you used to be able to purchase tickets from a kiosk in the lobby but I suppose they aren't doing that now for sanitation/health reasons. We were unsure where to go so we approached the snack bar and a staff member helped us purchase tickets. A few years ago we did order food and bring it into the theater, but not on our recent trips. However, you can order from your smartphone and have it delivered to your seat before the movie starts. They have discounted tickets on Tuesdays, so that's definitely when to go to save a few bucks. Other theaters might be cheaper, but if you treat this like a night out of entertainment, it's not that expensive comparatively. read more

There have been several times when I've ordered something via the app AND/OR at concessions, where my ticket was scanned and food was supposed to be brought to me but never arrived. UPDATE: After our negative experience, I was encouraged to reach out to new Manager Megan. She profusely apologized and thanked me for sharing my experience with her so that she could take steps to correct it. She asked us to come back and give them another shot with comp'd tickets and food and wow was it a different experience the second time around. We went to the concierge desk were two very pleasant employees greeted us and over Megan. She met us, took our order personally, then walked us through the food and beverage line and escorted us the the ticket taker. Each employee was welcoming and effective to. Once in the theater we had a great center seat, and enjoyed a great dinner and movie. We finally got our Apple crumble and it was good, although I would say it was best eaten with a spoon and ice cream scooped on top! The grilled chicken salad and chicken sandwich were good, but the parmesan truffle fries were the absolute best, I would highly recommend them! We called back the next day, the manager asked us to come back in.... we live almost 45 minutes away(as we were visiting friends with whom we had issues entering/exiting the theater), so this was not exactly convenient. After 17 minutes on the phone, we finally got a refund. Seating- the seats do not recline, and the theater is quite steep, even being almost in the middle of the theater it felt quite high up. The back cushion of the chair was saggy, which made it less comfortable then I would've expected a high end movie theater to be. Atmosphere- silly as this may sound, I didn't notice any "turn off your phone" or "not talking in the theater" reminders, and apparently the other theater goers in this showing forgot their basic manners. Cell phones rang, vibrations from texting abound, but worst of all was the talking during the movie from at least two groups of guests, on of the groups behind us going so far to spoil a scene as it was happening. I understand this is not in the direct control of the theater, but have a warning or a presence to skirt this bad behaviors! Overall, probably worst movie theater experience I've ever had. The only reason it's a 2/5 is they did they did eventually refund our flatbread over the phone. read more

A really awesome movie-going experience in Chapel Hill! The service, the food, the theaters themselves are a bar above the national chains. I swear, that popcorn was the best I've had. We actually had to evacuate mid-movie as there was a small fire in the mall connected to the complex. While everyone waited outside for the firefighters to give the all-clear, employees handed out free tickets a future visit which was nice. Everything was handled very professionally and we were all brought back in an orderly manner to continue watching. Even though it's a ways away from where I live, I know I'll be back for another movie. read more

I feel like it's been ages since I've driven past Trader Joe's and further into Chapel Hill. Silverspot Cinema is a great addition to this once sad older plaza. The facade of the building is a nice retro feel. The tickets are easily purchased online or in the building at touch screen kiosks or with a human at the counter. You can reserve your own seating, which is by far the best feature! The odd thing is people aren't used to reserved seating and often show up relatively early, only to be told to wait in the lobby as the theaters get cleaned. Tickets are a fair price for reserved seating and the popcorn, food, pizzas, drinks, beer, etc. are also very reasonable. If you arrive very early, you can eat at the restaurant. I did not try it myself but it looked very put together. If you choose to sit in the front row, know they are love seats. Seats 1-2 are together, 3-4, 5-6, etc. So dont go buying seats 4 and 5 because then you're sharing a love seat with a stranger, unless of course it's deliberate! Overall, this is a very reasonably priced 'reserved' seating theater that everyone should try out! read more

If only people could manage not to ruin nice things... That was my initial thought upon visiting Silverspot Cinema for the first time numerous months ago because well, the theater is simply pretty darn nice. The seats are comfortable and spacious, the aesthetics are pleasing, and there is even a red carpet out in the lobby. Surely someone is going to ruin this for the rest of us, right? Well, I'm happy to report that so far the inevitable has not happened. Though I've only been here a handful of times, I've yet to stick my foot, hand, or face (don't ask) into any sticky type substance on the upholstery (yeah, I know I just jinxed myself). Thus, I'm guessing that everyone else is appreciating how affordably luxurious this spot is and is doing their best to keep it that way. Yes, the tickets are a bit expensive but not outrageously so when compared to other theaters offering less of a quality experience. In my opinion, the ability to literally pick your own seats on-line and then enjoy a movie in the plush seats you picked out goes a long way especially if it's a showing that you know will be packed. Furthermore, you never really feel like it's uncomfortably crowded here given the large seats and spacious aisles. Add in some great customer service along with a way above average concession stand and you have got yourself a winner! Let me put it this way: When friends or family come to town and it ends up being a rainy weekend, where do I take them? Silverspot. Not only is it one of the nicest theaters I've been to in my life, but it's totally worthy of showing off. The theatre is big and by the looks of it, it is very good and fancy. I did not eat there. We eat food in the theatre and it was not very good. The pizza was not good and the Cesar salad was mostly just lettuce with no dressing. If I were u I would eat before coming. The bathrooms are very nice and there is privacy.
