Not a bad AMC chain located conveniently at outdoor section of the Southpoint Mall and a few steps away from the food court and indoor section. Went on a Tue early afternoon show during Dec holiday wk. despite the movie being out for 3 wks already (FNAF 2) the show was sold out so I suggest getting tickets asap (early in person if you want to save on the online fee) we were at screen 12 and was initially concerned that the screen would be small since there are only 5 rows of seats in the theater but the screen size and sound was decent. Has refill soda and slushee machines. I don't believe they care if you sneak into another movie as long as you are not taking someone else's seat. read more

Updating my review yet again! Since Silver Spot closed for a while due to flooding, we started coming to AMC more regularly. I love the abundance of parking. I also love the Coke Freestyle machines. I also love the heated and adjustable seats (which work 90% of the time). They get a lot of variety, and my husband even joined the A-List so he can see everything and it is a very economical option. In general I find the staff to be friendly, and the bathrooms to be clean. I really can't complain about this place, especially considering the other options we have in our area. read more

Why is it that the last few times I have gone I got a broke seat. One of them the hinge on the seat was broken so it was not great to sit in, another one the legs wouldn't move, and nobody wants to be sitting super straight up. That is the bad thing about having "reserved" seating, if the seat is broken, you can't switch. It would be better just to show up, walk in and find a seat. Guy at the front door with long hair and glasses I believe, maybe no glasses idk but he's a real pr*ck. Had to go inside to get a drink for my 10 year old because the vending machine wasn't working outside and I had went in the exit on accident and he was like "no no nope can't go in there" after I just held the door for a family of 4 and I walk back around and the prick tells me my 10 year old has to stay at the door while I go all the way across the movie theater just to get a fucking drink. My first impression was this is so not classy. It was packed, the seats were in tatters and the prices were pretty average. The seats seemed pretty far from the screen even though we were centered. Popcorn was ok not enough popcorn salt and you had to serve your own icees and soft drinks... The lady at the ticket concessions had little patience and honestly not the best attitude. Updating my review since becoming an AMC A-Lister for half a year. The AMC at Southpoint is really a mixed bag. I got here usually multiple times a week and still i'm shocked when something kind of wild pops up and its just another day at Southpoint. This location does have some strong things going for it. They've got a great selection of movies each week typically. They've got a good IMAX theater (its still got the bad seats though) They've got a great Dolby Vision theater that I personally feel is better than IMAX. They've got lots of amble parking (even if the mall is a chore to get in and out of) The AMC A list program is worth it if you see at least two movies a month. The popcorn is pretty good (its no Chelsea or Carolina Theater ) What's working against AMC Southpoint 15 The chairs while comfortable are often broken, cant recline or the heaters in the seats are not working. The bathrooms are tragic. Clogged toilets, sinks full of vomit. Yeah, not great. The crowd at AMC often loves to talk through movies, be on their phone. The concession area especially the coke freestyle machine is always a mess. AMC's have about 30 minutes of commercials and trailers in front of every film. Pro tip: Order your concessions for pickup 10 minutes after the start time of the movie so you can roll in just in time for the start of the movie) I typically see 1-2 movies a week, and AMC A list has paid for itself, and that's really the only reason to go to AMC. The A-List pass is excellent for film lovers because you can just roll into films last minute if you've got some time to kill and it makes you much more likely to give a movie a shot if its built into your monthly pass. I cant say that this theater is great, because often time its the other moviegoers that are the real problem here. I think its just the general mall crowd that brings in a strange vibe sometimes. Overall though this is a decent theater that has its issues but worth attending if you're an A-list member. read more

Just saw Eddington last night at this theater (first time coming here) and was extremely displeased with the experience. It's a shame because the movie itself was amazing. The AC wasn't working, the wait staff had our food ready at the counter but didn't call our name to grab it until we asked them for it, one of our seats wasn't working & the movie started 40 minutes later than anticipated. The other faults could have been overlooked if the AC was working, but in the dead of summer in NC, it's unethical to not run AC in large spaces without prior notice. read more

As a cinephile, I love going to the movies. I also love Southpoint mall, so I had to try out this theater. I came to see Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse for a 2nd time. My experience at Cinemark was an uncomfortable one where I could not focus on the movie. Upon arrival here at AMC17 a young man greeted me and scanned my ticket. I was offered a free Spider-Man poster and Fast and Furious trading cards. He directed me to theater 10 which is a nice theater with comfortable brown recliners that have a heated seat feature. The seats are not zero gravity but they are better than majority of the recliners I have sat in at Regal and AMC. What a nice touch. With all the restaurants in Southpoint, I did not dine-in here. I cannot speak to the dining experience. My rating is solely off the theater experience only. Overall the theater was clean and not dated like many of the other theaters in the area. I can't wait to come again. Excellent staff. Comfortable recliners and overall a good experience. read more

My Dad and I went to go see "Conclave" at the AMC theater near him in Southpoint. I was very impressed with how big the complex is and the options provided to us. When we went to the box office window to get our tickets, the cashier told us we could select our seats in the theater. I was impressed because we never had this option before. She was very nice and was very professional. When we walked into the theater, I noticed a full bar on the left with stools. That is a great idea for those waiting to see a movie and want to have a drink. The theater itself is incredible with IMAX sound and reclining seats. The seats are very comfortable and relaxing. They are heated as well if you want to keep your tush warm. The selection of snacks and beverages at the snack bar are always impressive. Yes, the prices are high and expensive, but you are at the movies and you are going to have to pay a lot for the snacks. I do like the Coca-Cola variety beverage dispenser for soft drinks that they have, because you can choose from a huge variety of flavors for your beverage. Overall, the AMC theater at Southpoint is fantastic and worth the price you pay to see a movie. "Conclave" ended up being a fantastic movie. This is the place to see a movie. read more

Visited this location to see the Taylor Swift movie and it was fantastic. The seats are so comfy - various reclining positions and heated seats. There was plenty of arm room and it was relaxing. This theater is easy to locate and there is plenty of parking. And if you're hungry there are many options within walking distance or a short drive. The bathrooms were clean and they have a big variety of concessions to purchase. The commemorative Taylor Swift popcorn bucket was awesome. read more

I suppose I must admit I'm spoiled with theater seats these days but I take issue with the seats in this theater. They're supposed to recline and they do but I don't think the seats I tried reclined fully. Additionally, the controls were very confusing... not a good thing when the controls are in an awkward place and the theater is DARK. I've used reclining seats in another theater (AMC Holly Springs) that had very intuitive controls - the are two switches: one to recline and one to restore to upright. Not the case here! There are two switches to control the foot rest and two others to control the back of the seat. Theoretically, once you figure out how to work the controls, it should be fine but I don't think the foot rest extended as far as I would have liked - I think it was only half-extended. Additionally there's some sort of other weird control for lighting or alerting staff (three settings: off, white, and red) but I didn't figure that out its purpose. You shouldn't need a user's manual to use a reclining seat!!!! Not a great viewing experience. read more

I asked a team member if the heat could be turned up during my visit (12/3/25) in the specific auditorium I was in because I was uncomfortably cold. the response was the same. I purchased tickets on April 7th to see the Minecraft movie on April 12th at 9pm. The 3 seats I purchased were somehow sold to other people who arrived before us. When I went to guest services to get it figured out, our tickets scanned for 10pm instead of 9pm. I had never received an email or notification of time change. I've been coming to this location for almost 15 years and have never had an issue before but this was ridiculous and I will not be returning. After spending a total of $100 on 3 seats, candy, popcorn, drinks, and driving 30 minutes each way, we couldn't even see the movie. The later time didn't work as it was in 3D and my party wears glasses and had plans the next morning; hence why we didn't purchase tickets for the later time. We did get a refund for everything and free tickets to use at a later date. However, there is apparently no use in buying tickets online and paying the absurd "convince fees" as they will just sell the same tickets to other people and change your movie time without notice. read more

It's changed so much since the last time I came years ago. Only thing I'm disappointed in is they removed the bathrooms from the front and they make you get in line to get popcorn and snacks before going to the bathroom and go in the auditorium. Good thing is we have assigned seats so I was able to put our drink and food down so we could use the restroom. Ordering tickets on the app was super easy and convenient for us to just walk in. I also love how the seats are comfortable and allow us to heat up our seats and adjust them to lay down. I have been to this theater before a few years ago and was not pleased. However, now that I live closer to this area and I am a frequent movie goer, this is slowly becoming my theater since it is close to where I am, so I decided to give it another chance. They've made some improvements since the last time I came, service wise. It is cleaner, which is nice and more organized. The food isn't the best, it's okay for basic movie theater foodm I'm more used to the food at Paragon. I ended up ordering food beforehand online and then having it delivered to my seat at a set time, which was nice. I love the heated seats and also how loud the sound is in the theater. I tend to go on weekdays, so it's not as crowded, so I would always recommend going at that time. read more

We came here for a date night to see a new movie. This was a great experience! The theater was very clean and the seats were amazing. They recline not just forward and backwards but up and down. Also. I've never been in seats like that before. To make things better, they even have heated seats! This made the show! They also have a full service bar and grill. Customer service: 5 stars: came in 1/1/2024 to see the color purple, had a triple connecting flight and the 2nd stop was rdu with a crazy lay over of 24 hours due to weather. It was an exhausting day and the manager on duty (a young African American male who was groomed very presentable) went out of his way to accommodate my child with autism. My husband was impressed and thankful as well as I was because you don't see that level of customer service anymore. So bravo to that young man. Cleanliness: 2.5 stars: the auditoriums are hit or miss, i heard random complaints from other patrons as well as my own. The seats needed to be cleaned out and the floors needed to be swept. Between viewings in auditorium 8 it was noticeable that whomever responsible for cleaning it did a 1/2 assed job. I keep lysol wipes in my purse and wiped down the seats and tables. The bathrooms could use some tidying up, I blame nasty patrons with no home training more so the staff. Prices: 1 star: after 630pm tickets go from $12.99 for adults to $17.99 that blew our idea of dinner plans eating before the movie and catching the 8pm presentation. Sure it's only $5 additional per person but if you like to do stuff on a budget this is good information to know. Before 4pm it's $9.99 per adult. Children are $7.99 before 4pm and $9.99 before 630p and then it's $12.99. I would advise signing up for the amc stubs and the other reward program. One is complimentary and the other is $15 I think a month, only worth while if you really enjoy going to the movies. My husband gets it for free through his job so it waves any online fees and we get discounts on concessions. We had $10 worth of points racked up so we only spent $24 in concessions, 2 large buckets of popcorn (free refills) and 2 large drinks $17.99 per person plus tax. A pizza combo is $17.99 and I thought that was outrageous for the size of the pizza especially with cheesecake factory being across the way. Folks eat before come. Me and my husband got 2 popcorn buckets one for us and one for my kids to share. Food: n/a really can't give it a star rating. The popcorn was just popcorn and I didn't see the caramel corn which is specifically why we came to amc over of regal because amc carmal popcorn is actually really good. Parking: 3 stars: I would recommend parking by the urban outfitters side or the cheesecake factory side, straight shot to the movie theater. Overall: if we were in the area stuck we would come back here. The area seems very upscale and safe. There was an armed security woman security guard inside the theater I thought was pretty cool. There may be issues with the drink stations, when we went all of them were down with no carbonation. So call and check if you are one of those people who must have coke with popcorn Its a movie theater... no more no less.. read more

One of the worst theaters I've ever been to. Lobby didn't have working air conditioner so it was stifling waiting in line for concessions. After 30 minutes of waiting, finally was able to purchase a cup for Icees. Was informed no straws available but no worries. What was infuriating was that only ONE FLAVOR ON ICEE MACHINE WAS WORKING out of all devices (see pic) concessions available were minimal. Grayed areas on display indicate what was NOT available (see pic). Finally, I paid to watch movie in IMAX 3D. I'm unsure what the problem was but the 3D glasses weren't working. Entire movie was blurry. Others seated nearby made comments about same problem. Bottom line: I'm never coming back. read more

The "Dine in" regular theatre's have leather reclining heated seats. Image quality and sound are good, they sometimes play 3D content with these smaller regular theatre's. The Dolby theatre has a different type of reclining seats from the regular dine in theatre's that are more comfortable but with no heat. Image quality and sound is definitely the best at this AMC and if you have an option this is the one to choose. The iMax theatre has a more basic setup and at this point I believe it's the oldest theatre at this location. The screen is bigger but not iMax big. This is actually the smallest iMax I've seen. Food is getting better again during the pandemic when they were actually open they reduced the menu to a few basic items. Even so, unless you are really hungry during the movie you're literally right next to a large choice of restaurants around. The bar is functional and is actually kinda nice if you are first meeting someone because it's not crowded and there's a few small tables. I could see watching a movie then having a quick drink with someone to talk. I'm on the fence about this but let's bring back movie dates?? Maybe that's the covid isolation still talking. I definitely am glad to see this location thriving again and would love to see more fan events and things like that to get people off their couches and at least out. read more

DISCLAIMER: this review is STRICTLY on the theater, NOT the movie. Today me and my guy went to see the movie 'Bad Boys.' We arrived 30 minutes early; didn't need to stand in line for tickets, because we bought them online. And then it happened...we stood in line for 47 minutes for concessions. RIDICULOUS! The line was almost to the entrance! There were literally only 2 cashiers taking orders and they took all customers from the premier line first. During the weekend, I feel all cash registers should have been going! It's better to have more than enough employees working than not enough. Despite a great remodel a few years back this place is like attending a movie in a dumpster. The soft drink area is always a sticky mess, spills on the floor and on the counter. No butter for the popcorn which was at least two days old. The only Coke in the machine tonight was Cherry Coke. They're always out of food and, if they're not, it takes FOREVER to get it. This isn't the fault of the staff who are clearly struggling with little to no supervision and am inadequate workforce, most of them are kids. Worst of all, the 3D calibration on Dr. Strange was extremely off which made the movie a two hour migraine building event. I complained twice and it wasn't fixed. I was with a group so I ended up riding out some of the movie in the lobby. They gave me vouchers but I'm not even sure I want to go there for free. read more

Love this theater, but avoid the iMax if you can (especially for the longer movies) because the seats are horrible. They're so squished together and the way they're positioned you just cannot get comfortable. Unfortunately for me, the Batman was three hours I survived but will not put myself through that again when I can have a perfectly comfortable seat with plenty of space and a table, with a slightly smaller screen, for less money. Consistently the worst theater in the Triangle. Half the time you go the projectors don't work and they never bother to tell you what's going on, and then when you tell them the movie's not playing they seem surprised. You think to yourself "Surely they'll have to get better at this at some point" and year after year it's the same terrible experience. This seems to be a problem at many AMC theaters. As a company, AMC shows a real lack of respect for its patrons. Also, the positive reviews you read about this theater sound like absolute bullshit that was written by some PR person trying to counter the scathing reviews. read more

The AMC Theater chain does not have your interest in mind. Arriving before the movie started, we walked into an absolutely BLACK hole of a space. There were no lights on. I felt absolutely unsafe. We were paying half price for a Monday., noon showing.and paid only $32 for one adult and one senior ticket.. walking in, we found the water fountain was off. But the theater was very helpful. They provides bottled water at about $5, about the same as their soft drink. So far the most memorable things about this first theater experience in 3 years was the unsafe conditions and the lack of water. My 65" High-def home tv is looking better all the time. Then the movie previews started. The sound was absolutely grossly loud! My IPhone said it was 95 dB. Screamingly loud. And the feature movie was the same. Painfully loud. Avatar the movie was wonderful. But would have been better is i had not needed to plug my ears. i do not believe that I will ever watch a movie at this theater again . The lady in m front of me left half way through. The last time I went to this theater 3 years ago, I had to get out of the movie to ask them to decrease the volume.After the movie. I went to a Chinese place, and for the same price as a popcorn and a coke, was able to get a nice dinner for two. read more

Worst theater experience I've ever had. The popcorn was flavorless and stale and the "butter" was weirdly sweet, really awful. The seat was covered in melted chocolate I had to clean off myself. And it was unbelievably uncomfortable, with a deep back and a headrest that jutted out, but if I reclined it far enough so my head wouldn't tilt forward, my feet didn't touch the ground. I'm 5' 6", average build, so I'm not sure who those seats were designed for but definitely not for an average-sized woman. I had to keep readjusting to be even minimally comfortable, so I accidentally pressed the heat warmer button several times, which was located at hip level on the inside of the armrest. Since it was already a sticky-humid 78 degrees in the theater, that was awful too. Finally, because the upholstery on the empty seat next to me was all torn up, I moved to a seat far down front, where the man next to me kept getting texts that blinked like a photo flash. Also, of serious importance, there were *no* lit exit signs in the room. And the bathroom door lock was filthy. I'll never go back to that theater. read more

I went to see Wicked on IMAX at the 12:30 showing on Wednesday Dec 4th. The film was great, the seats and the screen were great...but it would've been so much more enjoyable if the theater had been heated. It was FREEZING in there, and the heat never came on. Every person there was all bundled up in their coats, and people were getting up just to move around to get warm. By the end, my nose was raw from it running for 3 hours and I couldn't feel my first 2 fingers on each hand. I am really sensitive to cold, so I came dressed as if I were going camping outside in the winter, thinking I was plenty prepared. It felt as if there was a fan vent above me that was blowing out a/c instead of heat. I did say something to an employee on the way out, but was answered by a shrug. The whole experience was weird, when all's I wanted to do was enjoy the film. read more

I really enjoy this location. The movies are really nice and clean. But it's also at a great Mall. The Streets at Southpoint So what I way to spend a day. This AMC has nice theaters and updated chairs so you can really relax and enjoy the film. The sound is full and the screen is also great quality. My only complaint is if you have to wait for tickets at the front, it can take forever for like no reason. We typically use AMC black tickets so we must go to the front to redeem. Secondly, after that lengthy wait you're hit with easily a 15 min wait time for drinks and snacks. 15 is being kind, I waited longer. (bring your own!) read more

The concessions attendant was very nice and handled our order promptly and pleasantly. The theater (inside) looked and felt fairly clean which is important. However, This just might be the last straw for me with patronizing this theater. I rate my experience lower with every visit. Not a good trend. 2 of the 4 butter machines not working. The icee machines dispensing a liquid mess. The movie we came to see started late, AGAIN! I had to call the theater from my seat and ask them to start it. We ordered chicken tenders and there was more salt and bread than there was chicken on these tenders. Not to mention, they were burnt and didn't taste good. The kids didn't eat them. A waste.
