We love Silverthorn Resort! Whoever changed the check in and out process to have less boats coming and going needs a raise! Only having a few boats going out the day we checked in made for a very enjoyable experience! Every staff member (houseboats, marina store, maintenance) I encountered was kind, accommodating and helpful. The houseboats are fine enough. I know they just get hammered all summer long, so wear and tear is expected. My one suggestion Silverthorn, take those gross dingy yellow curtains off the windows. Just wanted to shout out to Silverthorn Marina for saving us last night. My family owns a place on the water and a boat, and the kids wanted to go up to the lake. It had been a few years since my last trip- so I was a little rusty. I wasn't watching the gas gauge. Did some tubing and had an adventure. On our way back to the dock I realized that I needed gas and QUICKLY! I pulled into Bridge Bay at 6:05 and they flat out refused to help me. The sheriff that was there told me to try Silverthorn- they would be open. I cannot tell you what a relief it was to pull up to Silverthorn and see the smiling workers who pumped my gas for me, they were so accommodating! Best money I've ever spent on gas in my life! Not only that- but they had a freezer of local beef, that we took home for dinner. The young man who took care of us was from our neck of the woods, and was really kind to a mom all alone with a bunch of kids that had just white knuckled it from the Shasta Dam to Silverthorn, and arrived on gas fumes. A little tricky finding the rental office, it's at the end of Marina 1. The staff are absolutely first class. Brady greeted me and though I was a little early, he said my fishing boat was prepared. Sarah was super helpful and after a thorough orientation, I was on my way. When I returned, the staff lent me a cart and invited me to leave it at the upper parking lot. I declined and left it at the end of the dock. Brady grabbed half my stuff and walked me to my car. For the staff experience alone, I give it five stars. This should be your last "resort" at Lake Shasta. Our boat could barely run and we called for help, but they didn't have someone available and never sent anyone else out the following day, or any day of our trip. We thought we booked three nights and they told us since you booked online you booked four nights. They wouldn't refund us our last night on the boat that didn't work. The place was dirty, there was no kettle on board to make tea or coffee and the beds are suitable for dogs. If you enjoy sleep, or even a mattress, you won't have a good sleep on their sleep pads. The ladies in the office had no idea what they are doing and the manager just tried to use times stamps of when we called to justify why they didn't fix our boat. When I asked for a statement of charges, the front desk person, very confused, asked , " wait, do you want to speak to a manager? " why would I need to speak to a manager to get a print out of our statement? What a terrible experience. I would never recommend this business. I hope this review serves other people to avoid a very disappointing vacation. They would've had some sort of redemption from us if they had refunded our last night that we didn't know we had booked or treated us like they valued us. What a waste. read more

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART Our rental experience was fine, the boat was fine, the engine was fine, the generator worked fine. However, we were completely unaware of how much work it would require of us every day in order to move the house boat. The lake is sinking in on itself, so the very biggest piece of instruction the guide gives you when you do the walk through before you leave is to make sure that you unbeach and rebeach each day. Seems simple, but it wasn't. The rebar stakes are sharp, heavy and rusty. The rope has to be tied in very good knots, or it will let loose. This takes a lot of coordination from the captain, first mate, and then whoever it is that's tying the rope and hammering in the stakes. We had 13 men in our 20's and it was a lot of work. So if this is a plan for a fun bachelorette party, if you're thinking about bringing just a couple guys, or if you think this is going to be a very relaxing trip, I would reconsider because this was a lot of work. 7 of my family members visited this past weekend. June 2-6. We are lifelong campers, now too old to pitch tents. Cabins and Houseboats are our Jam! We rented a houseboat last year from a different resort, had a few concerns- launching and our compressor. We decided to go with Silverthorn this year. Our experience was fabulous! From beginning to the very end!! We rented the weekend before SEASON. We rented the PRESIDENTIAL boat. We had a mix of hot and rainy weather. We prepared ourselves for both. We ran into a battery and septic issue-- BUT, READ OUR TROUBLE SHOOTING PAPERS. Avoided any real issues. House boating isn't time at the Ritz or Four Seasons. It's camping on the water folks. The lake has clay spots. It has rocky spots. Check the weather before you go!!! You have to wait? We are in a water drought, all California lakes are low. This resort is better than some in terms of embarking and disembarking. Check your travel dates. Do your due diligence before complaining. Seriously. No where does it say it's equipped with power washers!!! That ORANGE HOME DEPOT BUCKET THEY PROVIDE IS YOUR POWER WASHER! Manual labor, fill it up and swab your deck clean. The Silverthorn Team was professional, through and through. All of them!! Talking to them, they gave us tips and pointers for secret fishing spots and how to have a great time. Kudos, truly!! When you see the one star reviews here please realize that they only get that much because you have to. This place should have zero stars. I cannot state this more clearly than to just say renting from here would be a huge mistake unless... Does constantly having to have a mechanic come out to where you are to fix a broken generator or motor sound like a relaxing vacation of "luxury" like they advertise? Does being stranded without a working motor sound like an exciting time? Does spending most of your rental time waiting for said mechanics to come out and attempt to fix the issues repeatedly sound luxurious or even remotely relaxing? Who doesn't enjoy spending a decent amount of money to have a houseboat with no AC, no reliable generator and motor leaving you stranded in precarious spots around a lake? To say that we did it get to have the relaxing vacation we expected is an understatement. These boats aren't just old, they are neglected to the point that they should be deemed a hazard. How this company can in good conscience rent boats to people that have a repeated history of motor and other critical component failure is bordering on fraud and negligence. The mechanic they had to send out repeatedly over our 4 day hostage situation was not shy in admitting that they have tons of problems with almost all of their boats and with ours in particular. If you think this was limited to the boat we rented (Queen II boat 60) you are mistaken because when we were finally towed back into dock due to the complete engine failure all 8 other boats there said they all experienced the same issues with their generators and motor. One boat was back at dock for the second time in the two days they had it and another boat said due to their power failures and being unable to use their fridge they lost almost all the food they had bought for their trip. So, I will say it again, if you are considering renting a houseboat here I strongly recommend you don't. I would even so go far as to say that if you have an existing rental I would encourage you to cancel it. If you are a brave and hearty soul satisfied with paying a premium price to have what amounts to a floating box, boat on (or I should say 'float on' since it's a 50/50 if your motor will actually work), but don't say you weren't warned that you will not get the accommodations or services that they are advertising on their website. #silverthornmarinasurvivorsclub read more

Not a good idea for small children or people with health or mobility issues. Beach area was dirty and trash and old chairs were littered. The house boat was supposed to fit 17 people. Fabulous trip over memorial week. We rented the Queen for two families and had a great time. The boat worked perfectly. Checkin and check out was as expected. We moved twice throughout the trip, and loved both stops on the lake. We cleaned the boat thoroughly when we returned and had no cleaning fees. Boat had a hose and brush for cleaning the deck, toilet brushes to use inside and mop/broom and pan. Would recommend bringing some Lysol wipes and minor supplies to clean the inside when you're done but that's pretty standard when leaving a rental. Water was pretty far down and load and unloading was a bit of a pain, but we've had much longer walks for loading and unloading at other locations on the river. Would recommend and definitely plan to come back. read more

Every year we are excited to work with Silverthorn's family oriented serve, high quality boats, and helpfulness in navigating Lake Shasta. Service: From booking through boat return, Silverthorn's staff is helpful and super responsive to questions. Specifically when moving a date or asking about a boat pre-rental, their staff answers calls within the first couple rings and always is knowledgable of boat capabilities. I've actually used their staff every year to help me plan a larger group trip, ensuring the boat we rent meets all of our requirements before we book it. In some respect, they act as a personal concierge when booking a trip! For boat pickup and return, Silverthorn's staff has always been flexible on their timing to help us optimize our trip start and end. Its never too busy at boat launch and have always felt like we're getting the necessary attention and education about the boat before we set off. Boat quality: The boats Silverthorn rents have always been safe and well equipped to ensure a great time for everyone onboard. Specifically, their Queen boat that sleeps 20+ has been a great experience. For a larger group size, the boat offers enough sleeping space for everyone and an amazing day-time entertainment space. I am so sad to write this. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!!! We booked our Houseboat "Queen: The Elite of the Fleet" more than a year in advance of the 2024 4th of July holiday. We booked a full week (Monday to Monday). Over $8000 for our reservation, not including the deposit at the time of arrival or any gas, food etc. On the day of arrival, Monday, July 1, we arrived at the standard check in time, 3 pm. We were told that the boat was not ready and that there was no estimated time but that someone would call us. So our family, 2 adult kids from Washington state and their kids, my son from Monterey and his family and my other three boys and their two friends, and our dogs went down to the little beach by the pizza place to wait. At 5:30 we called to check on the status. We were told a mechanic would call us back (that's not a good sign). They call 10 minutes later and say to send the captain and co-Captain to the boat to meet the mechanic. Ok not a good sign. Well, apparently our boat had a problem. It would die every time it reached 30 rpm and you had to steer so they weren't sure if we were going to make it off the dock that night as we were expecting high winds but we could at least load our stuff and our people. Ok, 5 car loads and 17 people later (30 minutes) we get everyone on board and the mechanic tells us the boss went home at about 5:30 and they don't know what's wrong and we may not be able to leave. Frustrating! This doesn't make sense! It's now closer to 6:30, and they tell us ok "we think we fixed it and feel comfortable giving you the all clear to get on the way." Ok, the pilot is out of the marina, and we are told to keep it below 30 rpm just in case. We head out to the cove where we were told would be a decent place (bushy cove?). We died a dozen or more times on our way there. It's well after 6 pm and the office is closed. No emergency or after hours number. So we dock and tie off and decide to call 1st thing in the morning. Needless to say, they stranded us until late afternoon on July 3rd! They did bring us ice as we ran out, but still we had no ability to go anywhere until July 3rd. On the late afternoon of July 3rd, they finally finish the repair they believe will fix the issue. Apparently the boats all have new engines and they don't have the software to actually communicate with the engine to figure out the problem so they are throwing mud on the wall to see what sticks. Morning of July 4th, we make our way to the marina because our grey water tank is now full and in desperate need to drain. Its also my granddaughters 8th birthday. We made our way there, refueled took care of the tanks and headed out again, this time a small spot just across from Allies cove. We die a half dozen times on our way there. So we call again, ok they will send someone out tomorrow to look at it. Everyone is tied up today. Around 5:30 pm we decide we want to actually relocate a few yards away in a nearby cove; except we can't get the engine to stay on so we are now stranded. We can't leave our position. We call again and are told there are no mechanics, everyone has gone home, they will send someone out tomorrow to tow us. This is not ideal!!!! A million reasons why.... At 2 am the main reason becomes our nightmare. My 14 year old son ends up with a bloody nose that we can't stop. 30 minutes into it he has gone through multiple rolls of toilet paper and we can't get it to stop, it's gushing and he is looking pale and feeling lightheaded. We call 911, they tell us they are sending an ambulance to a nearby marina and either sheriff or fire will dispatch a boat to come get our son because we can't move. Almost an hour later no one has arrived (if our boat was running we would have been at the marina in 20 minutes), we have finally managed to stop the bleeding and get a few bottles of water in him. We call off 911. Silverthorn Resort left us stranded! The worst case scenario happened and I am beyond disbelief as to how they thought this was acceptable! This is just a small portion of the entire circus of issues with this boat, besides the fact that it doesn't even run? Well, the AC is subpar at best. Gas is over $5 a gallon and you have to have the generator running all day and night in this 100 plus degree weather. The freezer takes forever to make anything frozen, the table that turns into a bed is broken (it's evident they tried to fix it multiple times and failed). And the list just grows. They really need to put some money back into these boats. AND improve the customer safety!! NEVER leave a boat stranded! I will update once we speak to them AGAIN in the morning and find out if they are going to be able to give us a solution. We have 4 more days on this boat! read more

Word of advice! Don't EVER rent from Silverthorn Resort - Houseboats. We rented a houseboat from them last month (end of August). Upon our arrival back to dock they stated we hit and broke another houseboats slide. I was shocked because at no time did we ever come close to another houseboat. I told them I do not authorize this damage charge. I continued to call the week after only to be told that management was very busy and they would review the video again. I continued to call to see if the video had been reviewed and said I wanted to see the video of us "hitting another boat". No call back and no email. Fast forward to weeks later and I get a charge to my account for gas AND a $1200.00 charge for a damaged slide. I immediately called to dispute this charge and of course management is busy. I'm pissed! We rented the Queen houseboat #78....after zooming in on the video they finally sent me and changing the filter it's clearly 76 that hit another boat. The people in the video don't match our houseboat crew whatsoever and here we are out $1200.00 for damages we NEVER did! The video also shows a fishing boat attached to the side of the houseboat. We RENTED a fishing boat from Silverthorn and that's the only boat we had. You would think they would pull their rental log to see we rented THEIR boat and the boat in the video is clearly not the small tin boat we rented from them. I don't understand how a company can just charge you when you didn't sign the form listing damages and continued to say it WAS NOT US!!!!!! Take it from me and save yourself a headache. Update (9/22) - Silverthorn Resort, Marina, Pizza & Pub contacted me and have processed a refund in the amount of $1200.00. They have also refunded my gas charge as a courtesy for this misunderstanding. Happy this was the outcome and that someone finally listened! read more

Silverthorn presents its customers with a one-sided contract. the customer is going to be at fault,  even for Silverthorn's negligence.  Some may say that if a contract is voluntary then it should be binding.  But,  not as a shield against tortious or even criminal negligence.    When the physical safety of people on the water is at stake as a result of negligence on the part of Silverthorn mechanics, agents, and staff,  Silverthorn shouldn't expect to absolve itself from any liability via the principles of contract law. But that is exactly what Silverthorn does.  Silverthorn leased me and my family a houseboat that wouldn't steer.  The motorboat we leased was tied to our houseboat during orientation.  When, about 15 minutes out of harbor the motorboat was no longer with us,  we couldn't steer our houseboat to recover the motorboat.  When we finally were able to contact the Silverthorn office the staff said in a glib tone: "well, boating is a big responsibility."  I think that leasing boats and orientating the public on the correct usage of the boats is bigger. Silverthorn advertises fairly new, well-maintained, equipment for rent.  The photos show clean comfortable looking houseboats and boats.  But that's not what they offer.  The equipment is expensive but dirty and unmaintained.   These people aren't even using blue water in their toilets.  The speakers were of poor quality and most of them seemed not to be connected to the stereo at all.  Bluetooth was broken,  so we were stuck with two or three staticky radio stations for the duration of our voyage.  The slide had a huge crack in it and the engine could not be elevated out of the water.    In spite of all this Jody's only question to me was,  "have you read your contract?"  and Tessa's position after weeks of thought was,  "the only thing that is relevant is the contract". I consider myself, my family, and Silverthorn lucky that no one was injured. We had to leave for home without our security deposit.  Even though there was nothing wrong with the boats that hadn't already been wrong with them,  and the mechanical staff felt that the one-sided contract was intended for rowdy teenagers Jody,  the staff member who handled the front office, insisted that "all these matters had to be resolved at the same time". "These matters" being the hell we went through during the first day and a half of the long weekend over which we spent on their boats.  It took, all said and done, almost a month for Silverthorn to post our security deposits back to our credit card.  It was illegal for them to retain our money all this time.  What's more,  we were billed for the gas we used,  twice.  That was also illegal,  obviously,  but it's not worth it to me to deal with these people further than I already have.   I have been patient and polite with Mr. Reha, Jody, and Tessa, but it has been a waste of time and effort.   The mechanical staff seemed like good people,  but there weren't enough of them.  The administrative staff are hard-headed and have a take no prisoners approach to business which seems incongruent with the hospitality business they're in.  Mr. Reha, the general manager, never once spoke or wrote. Not even responsively.  Given the poor and unsafe mechanical condition of the houseboat, the wrong advice, and the ineffective tying of the motorboat to the houseboat during orientation,  I requested a retroactive reduction in the cost.  Although I understand the decision not to reduce the price of our trip was ultimately Mr. Reha's, throughout the course of our communications Mr. Reha only ever hid behind his office staff and their invented "facts".    Don't lease from Silverthorn. They won't stand behind their houseboats, service, or anything except their own one-sided and unconscionable contract.  It's going to take a death or serious injury for them to wise up I'd wager.  Because their pains in the ass to deal with too.   Lake Shasta is one of my favorite places on this Earth and I have grown up waterskiing and boating. This inaugural houseboating trip was a terrible disappointment - and frightening too. And I am not easily frightened.  I can't warn against Silverthorn strongly enough.  If you value your precious vacation time don't do business with Silverthorne. read more

This place has gone downhill fast. I didn't meet one happy customer while at the marina or courtesy dock. We were loaded onto a boat that never started 3 hours past check-in time. Wasted another day watching mechanics try to rig the boat just enough to get it started. No visit from management to check on us. 2 days of our vacation wasted. No apology. The dock manager Joel really should find another line of work. He's in over his head. I'll spend my hard earned money where my time and money are appreciated. Sos... 3 days of a broken and unusable boat, drifting with no power in the channel and still waiting on the business to help us. There has been nothing positive about this boat rental experience. We rented a boat for 5 days (we are currently on day 3.5) and it has been nothing but horrible time. Our boat has ever not started, batteries dead (with new batteries) water doesn't work - no showers, no toilets to use, etc, no power at night to see, refrigerators don't work so our food is perishing, and to top it off for 3 days we have spent waiting on mechanics to just simply get the boat started and running. (FYI - when we arrived to check in, the mechanics were working on the boat, we immediately knew it was having trouble). We are currently sitting in the middle of the channel as we have been waiting for a mechanic for almost 24 hours to help us. We have no anchor either. We've called about 6 times with no eta. Though at one point someone delivered gas cans (because the propane lines are also faulty) but said they couldn't help us. The first 2 days of the trip was encompassed with rain and our boat severely leaked. During 2 of the trip to the marina (where we were towed in) we asked for towels or anything to soap up the water.. the mechanic explicitly said they didn't want to take the work order and the desk support person gave us a roll of paper towels. ... I don't think they are even trying any more. This is not our first rental here but it will be our last. The steering has gone out twice on our Queen boat . The maintenance crew have been very nice. Not a relaxing experience. The doc manager JEFF. could not have given us less customer service, he treated our group and every other party as if we ruined his day by showing up. I'm not certain that the people who run this company realize their trade falls in the hospitality industry, and that their revenue is generated by US, and our recommendations and word of mouth. The presidential boat and the queen boat are awesome well stock with kitchen supplies, coolers, fridge, grill, stove,microwave , toaster, dishwasher machine etc etc bunk beds queen and twins and upper room with room for 6 to 10 kids with sleeping bags. Slide, plenty of room for sun tanning in the upper ruff. 2 bathrooms with showers and back and front deck to relax. We definitely have a great time at the lake and visit the little backbone an amazing hiking trails with uphill river (pls think 2 times before going up with your three year old lol..) we make it up to the top amazing experience!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MARINA! The negative reviews are unfortunately so true! Our family has been renting houseboats on Shasta for 20+ years. This year, we reserved with Silverthorn. The check in and out process is horrible. We spent a total of 5+ hours waiting in the heat to board and then complete the exit process. The staff does not care one bit and just said they are busy and short staffed. For the money these boats cost to rent, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere on the lake!!!! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK! After a year of planning and a ton of money spent for the week of the 4th of July, my family and I had received a boat that did not work at all. We constantly died in the middle of the water. Every time we turned it killed itself. We had the mechanics come out several times to try and fix the issue, but still no resolution. Which I can't find anywhere reasonable seeings as I was a former navy submarine mechanic. There should be, at minimum, a small part location with parts on hand for situations like this. The mechanics are nice but the knowledge of the situation seems pretty lack luster which is worrying after the diagnosis changed from mechanic to mechanic. After several calls and several times being stranding there was no compensation either. House boat is spacious but don't expect to be nice and cool if you come inside because the A/C units apparently can't keep up with the heat even with all the windows and doors and shades shut. Also various appliances are hit or miss if they are going to work. This review would've been much different if I hadn't come all the way from Washington to spend a week with my family and the boat worked. AGAIN PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK! read more

Round two... Customer service was on par as usual. This year we rented a boat and tube in addition to the ski. Found the usual campsite and we were good to go. I can't wait to come back next year! Just note: check in is at 3. There is no guarantee the houseboat will be ready by 10 am... No matter what they say. So come prepared to wait of necessary because it all depends on the previous renters turning the boat in on time. AWFUL - AWFUL - AWFUL! DO NOT RESERVE your boat from Silverthorn!!! I would give this houseboat marina rental company 0 stars if I could. We rented a Queen houseboat for our party of 10 from Silverthorn Marina for a 7-day trip. When reserving we were told that houseboats were given out between 3-5pm. We planned our trip accordingly and checked in at the marina at 2:30pm. My son pointed at one of the houseboats upon our arrival and said "there's our houseboat." I told him we weren't given a houseboat number yet and that we had to wait for it to be cleaned and readied for us. While checking in, we were told 5 boats were ahead of us and it would be about an hour wait. We were also told that we would receive a phone call when the boat was ready and to do our orientation, however cell service down at the marina is spotty which they are clearly aware of. We decided to wait around the marina since we didn't want to back track on the windy road, despite having to entertain 4 kids. We also had to keep our 3 cars running with the a/c on so we wouldn't spoil the $1,000+ worth of food we had in the 103 degree heat. At the hour mark, we checked back in. We were told there were boats still in front of us and it would be about 30 minutes. Again, we continued to wait thinking 30 minutes was not much time to have to wait. We thought for sure our boat would be ready because it's now 4:30pm and we were told boats launch between 3-5pm. But somehow after now waiting for over 2 hours, our boat is still not ready and somehow there are still 2 boats ahead of us! The marina has now told us it could be 7pm before we get our boat. At this point, I asked for some sort of compensation. However, I was told nothing can be done and to just keep waiting. But I was beyond upset that we had been waiting now for 4.5 hours, so we spoke to Kathy (the supervisor on duty). She said she could give us fuel compensation. It wasn't until 7:15pm, FIVE HOURS OF WAITING, when we finally could do orientation. You must be orientated (with the boat) before loading. So technically, we didn't get on the houseboat until 7:30pm. And guess what? It was the houseboat my son had pointed out was ours when we arrived at 2:30pm! The cherry on top was when one of the marina employees informed us we had until 8:30pm to leave the dock or else we had to remain docked at the marina. By the way, the houseboat was dirty. The spa didn't work and the water overflowed onto the deck and later during the trip into the bottom floor of the kitchen area. Customer service was beyond pitiful! I am completely shocked this marina is still in business! Apparently we aren't the only one to wait and complain. See Yelp reviews. I would NEVER rent from Silverthorn ever again!!! Even if I got a week free. Save yourself and family from agony, rent from another marina! Additional note...we rented a speed boat also from Silverthorn and it almost sank in the middle of the lake! Boarding Marina dock is far away from main office. Boarding dock is private dock and you cannot park there too long. Parking too far. Had heavy rain at the time of boarding.No covered shuttle provided. Had to load stuff during rain. So red clay got all over the floor with kids and pets. We cleaned downstairs. There was no pressure washer or hose to wash upstairs. So we could not wash. They charged heavily for cleaning ($500) the upper floor.IMO thats too much.I think its fair to charge $200 to hose off a deck. They dont respond to calls after 5 pm in case boat gets stuck or need help with the boat.So if you are not a experinced boater,I would recommend to rent from some where else. read more

I was really worried about the negative reviews. My family and another family booked a senator for 7 days ending in 7/4. Check-in was very fast and easy at 1pm. Boat walk through was thorough. I was worried about the backed up toilet reviews. Not a problem with the toilets on our boat. All the plumbing worked fine. All the features and fridges worked fine. Load up and departure took 1 hour and uneventful. Perfect! A little disappointed that the slide didn't have a pump for water, but we used the supplied bucket fine. Just be careful going up and down the circular stairs with the bucket. We did have a slip and fall down the stairs while carrying the bucket for the slide. Mid- week check refuel and waste dump was also quick. We had to dump our own trash which was fine as the resort was a bit busy. We were refuels and septic was pumped without issue. Returning the boat was also seamless at 9am. It took us 1 hr to unload and 1 hr to refuel and sign out. Having 2 full bathrooms on the senator was awesome. The penthouse for the kids was useful to get them out of the parents' hair. Climate was in the low 90's in the day and high 60's at night. I have already made several recommendations to Silverthorn on Facebook. Looking forward to our next return. read more

Rented a presidential for a 3 night trip and the whole group was happy with it! The boat ran well, there was plenty of cookware, and it slept all 16 of us comfortably. There were no paper towels to clean up spills and the holding tank filled up on the last night, but those were the only two inconveniences we ran into. read more

Where do I even begin...I was so excited to go on vacation and little did I know how much stress we would go through. First of all we got to the resort around d 12:30 because they told us we should be able to get our boat earlier then 3pm. Well, that turned out to be a lie. We didn't get called until 3:45, meanwhile our food had been melting in ice chests in our cars. We drive down to the loading dock where everyone and their mother is loading and unloading at the same time. And, there were even some people there that unloaded on the dock that didn't even have a boat yet. After, and hour in the 100 plus degree weather walking up and down the hill to load and bring your car to park, we finally got everything on the boat. All of us were almost passing out from dehydration and heat stroke, and then we had to listen to the fastest orientation ever. Luckily 3 of us were listening and got bits and pieces so we all knew what to do for some parts of the boat. The boat was very dated by the way and the bathrooms stunk, but we were just happy to be on the boat. We got moving and jumped in the water and it was great. The next day we picked up our wakeboard boat and the power steering wasn't working and it kept shutting off from over heating so we had to take it in and get another. Meanwhile, since we didn't have our wakeboard boat, we had to redock the houseboat to pick up the rest of the family. Let me tell you, the presidential does not sleep 16 people. It was so hot no body could sleep in the upstairs room we had people sleeping on the floor or outside. Whenever the generator was on we had to keep the back door closed because of the smell but our a/c didn't work to keep the boat cool so the boat was so hot it was a constant sauna. We finally got a second wakeboard boat and guess what, it died on us when we were out on the lake and we had to be towed in. So, we asked for a refund and they didn't even give back the full amount. Since, we didn't have a wakeboard boat anymore we had to redock to bring back half the family back because they couldn't stay from the heat or the sleeping situation. The next day we're driving into the marina to get ice and the reverse goes out. We got stuck in a cove for 4 hours while they tried to fix the problem. They never fixed it and told us that we had 2 options...we could still go forward so we can dock somewhere and just call in the morning to be pulled out since we only had two days left or we could stay in the marina. Well, we didn't want to stay in the marina because we wanted to swim so we said we would go dock but they needed to come get us right at 8am, we would be across from the courtesy dock. 8am comes around no one in site, we try to call and they say that they're phones aren't working and we have to email. We email and they say someone will be out to get us soon. We saw a maintenance boat drive passed around 8:30 so we call them back and say still no one is here and they said that the guy went to the wrong call. Finally around 9 we get pulled out and we just go straight to the courtesy dock and get the hell out of dodge! Shasta lake is beautiful but this resort is a waste of money and the people who work for them don't seem to care. Don't rent from them! read more

We had a blast renting a houseboat for Labor Day weekend! The houseboat was really convenient with everything needed aside from blankets and towels. We easily fit 15 people comfortably on the queen boat and could have fit several more. We also tried the pizza parlor at the resort and it was great as well! With high temps we were also very thankful that courtesy shuttle rides were provided and that the boat had AC. All in all it was a great weekend and we'd love to do it again some time. read more
