Well, I don't have much to say aside from at least the beer is cold and so is the building. I guess they don't have a furnace?

I have driven past the Silverton Cafe for a couple of decades and finally decided to stop in for lunch. It is a huge restaurant, your typical neighborhood hole in the wall. We arrived at noon and were the first of four tables to order lunch. Our server was Maria and she was very friendly and offered suggestions. The lunch special was a double cheeseburger with fries for only seven bucks. My husband had the bacon TON burger, a nice sized hand formed patty. I had the ham and roast beef double-decker and brought half of it home. It was huge and delicious. They were out of wings, but we will be back another time to try them. I bet this place would be fun on a weekend night...darts, billiards and lots of tv's. read more

I moved out of the area close by some years ago, so when I happened to be near I was so excited to get my chicken salad double decker. I'm not sure what they have done to it over the years but it was not good. I was so disappointed!! It literally used to be my favorite sandwich!!!! I guess good things don't always last. read more

This place was recommended by a friend who eats here all the time. I had a bowl of chili and a HUGE double decker (ham and beef) with an egg--it was so big I couldn't even fit it into my mouth, and had to bring half of it home. Also had a terrific glass of Rhinegeist Zango which I really liked. Our server was new but got everything right and was informative about the food and drink menu. This place was almost empty on a Wednesday at 1:30. Reasonable prices and good food. We intend to return. read more

I have heard people talk about this spot forever and was finally able to check it out. With family in town, we were looking for a chill spot to grab some food and drinks. The bartenders were super accommodating to our party and made sure our drinks stayed full. I was impressed by the variety of craft beers offered on draft. The food was also quite tasty! I went for a Philly cheesesteak, but it didn't have as much meat as I was hoping for. Next time I will definitely get a double decker sandwich or sub. Definitely recommend for a casual evening out with friends or family! read more

Not good after Covid19. What is the Bartender really trying to charge me $24 for a green tea cocktail. I said can you make me a green tea cocktail instead of a shot. She said yeah I have to charge you six dollars 4 times. WTH! CRAZY! She doesn't even know how to make mixed drinks. This place has gone down. So Sad! This is a little gem located in Silverton Ohio. It's a wonderful neighborhood bar that has darts games and great food. The burgers are great and beautifully cooked. I had the potato skins which hit the spot. Some nights they have live music. The staff is friendly. The bartenders makes a salty delicious dirty vodka martini. I've dined there with a group of friends for 3 years there and and during the first year we had agreat waitress who remembered our names, what we liked, etc. But the last 2 years have been a bummer, it's like new waitresses every other month and somewhat bad service. Recently my order was messed up for the 3rd month in a row. I ordered a sandwich without an item and fries on the side to replace / supplement chips. Well it came with item I didn't want, a sauce and no fries. I didn't get charged for the fries but I ordered them. I'm not going to point their mistake, but just move on. We had to ask for silverware and then go to the bar get some more as they must have a shortage of clean utensils. We'll go find another place that has better service. It's too bad they either can't read the waitress's writing or can't ask the waitress to go verify an order. The checks are computer printed, maybe they need computer printed orders so things don't keep getting messed up. read more

Neighborhood bar and grill. Food is excellent whether you want pizza, burgers, quesadillas, apps, etc. and a great place to hang out too. Family friendly. Dart boards. Stopped here multiple times during covid pandemic and had excellent service. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want a welcoming place with good food and drink. read more

The food is always great and hot. Though it was a few times when I had to either send the food back because it was overly cooked or burnt. But they fixed it and took if off the bill. The drinks are very strong. Been here a few times when they've had live bands and the atmosphere was very fun and exciting. The pretzel bites are good, though I would suggest doing something different with the cheese. Seems like they take Velveeta or something and put it in a bowl and microwave it so it melts. But other than that, anything you order is good to eat. read more

The cool parts: old school cigarette machines, pool table, dart board, old school arcade games. Food came out quick and it was a great price. The not so cool part: it was one of those places you know you don't belong in as soon as you walk in. Luckily I was with a coworker and fellow Yelper. Had a weird vibe for such a short period inside. Ceiling tiles are DISGUSTING! They are brown from grease and cigarettes I guess. I felt like you could smell them. They really should address this. They make the place look dark and dank but not in a cool way. The burger hit the spot but it was not anything to write mom about. Honestly, this seems like a place I wouldn't visit too often if ever. I'm all for local spots for locals and experiencing the culture of a place but all I could think of while I was there were the disgusting ceiling tiles. I passed this place all the time. I Live around the corner from it. I stopped in there last night and got the burger and fries special. Let me just tell you...... TERRIBLE. THE BURGER WAS disgusting. The cheapest meat used ever. Fries were soggy like they didn't fry them long enough. If want go somewhere to chill and have a drink cool but eat before you go. Silverton has great lunch specials during the week! Their food is decent and the service isn't bad. The food comes out really quick which is great if you are in a time crunch. My favorite lunch specials are the double cheeseburger and fries on Monday's, the fried chicken with mashed potatoes on Thursday's and their fried fish with green beens and mac & cheese in Friday's. Good value and you won't go back to the office hungry! read more

Good little hole in the wall establishment. I stopped by on a whim, without having ever seen the place. First (and only Silverton) experience. I had boneless wings with garlic butter that were yum. Other things enjoyed by my table included a kids meal, a burger and a rueben. Food was good. Not special, but not bland either. I disliked the old cigarette machine at the entrance. I'm not pro smoking. Or exposure. It wont prevent me from going again, but Id love if it were avoidable while entering. Good pool tables, a few games, and a dart board kept my child interested on a Saturday afternoon visit. It was quiet, the games were on, and the people were respectful. It was welcoming as a corner pub & eatery. I dont know what it looks like at night, but I can testify that Its family friendly and appropriate for weekend lunches. 3 adults and 1 child were able to eat for under $45, and that includes 2 bud lights & an appetizer. Budget friendly. Clean. Quiet. Would recommend to others. read more

A friend of mine is in town and he wanted to go to the Cafe for lunch. He used to hang out here often when he lived up the street from the place so I obliged and went along. I have to admit, I was pretty bummed with my meal. I tried the pita with chicken inside and when the plate was brought over I picked it up to curb my hunger. I went to take a bite and the whole sandwich fell apart. The waitress saw it and admitted that the pitas used weren't the best choice and she apologized. I figured I'd eat it anyways, and dug my fork into the mixture of chicken & onions and put a dab of low fat ranch dressing on for a topper. I ate a few bites, and was still disappointed because it wasn't that great in taste either. It was pretty bland, and left much to be desired. However, the waitress was awesome and she noticed that I was picking at my food. She offered to get me something else, but I declined. She was still super awesome and took half of it off the bill. I thanked her several times. I was going to give the place two stars, but because of her great service and the fact that they sell Vault, I upped it another star. The atmosphere was nice and laid back, but I think if I ever go back it'll be during the evening for a drink and some dancing. read more

Received gift certificates for this place for Christmas so we took the oppurtunity to use them 7 months later, lol. I guess from the web site, this is about what I was expecting. It's a BAR, for sure. Appears to have lots of local bar traffic.("regulars") The wait staff was very slow but then again, there did not seem to be many people working. The food was great. I got a reuben and my hubby got a burger. VERY GOOD. Not a place that I'll insist we drive from Milford to Silverton to visit but hey, now that I've been here, I know if i'm in the area, I can get some tasty grub. read more

This was indeed The Marathon Inn. The whole building was a restaurant, dance hall etc. At some point half of it was split off to be an Asian restaurant which was really good. The Asian side is now closed. The Greek side was sold to The Silverton Cafe, which was a smaller place further south on Montgomery Rd. Not much remodeling has been done since, the original wall sconces an arched mirrors are as they were in the early 90's when the Campanella family owned it. Most items are still on the menu from the Greek days including the chili. My fave is the 27, Ham and Pineapple Cream Cheese! Don't knock it til you try it. read more

Granted it was a Monday evening. Waiter told us weekends are very busy. The fried pickles were just ok - I've had better at Bucketheads on the West side My friend ordered a margarita on the rocks - the mix and tequila must have been cheap - horrible taste. I wanted to send it back but she ordered a beer instead. Blue Moon was served without the orange slice - this is like serving Corona without a lime! The overall condition of the place is run down. I think it would be a fun location for watching football or basketball with friends, having a few cold beers but won't go there again for a meal. read more

Not bad, not great. Stopped in for dinner on Saturday night with my mother. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer, they ended up coming out with our dinner. A table came in well after us and ordered after us but got their food way before we did (they seemed to be regulars so I am guessing that is why they had such good service) My mom ordered a cheeseburger, the server came over after about 20 minutes or so to ask her what kind of cheese she wanted on her burger, she didn't like the two options he gave, so he offered to put some mozzarella from the pizzas on her burger, that was fine with my mom. Once her food came out if had shredded cheese on it but it wasn't even melted and kinda fel off her burger while she was eating it. Overall, wouldn't be back, there are lots of other options in the surrounding areas. read more

We all (20 + of us) came her unannounced at 2pm after a funeral today and the service and food was great! The owner had just gone home and he came back to help cook for us! So nice!! I love this place! Casual, friendly with THE BEST double-decker sandwiches you'll find anywhere - and really inexpensive. The Manhattan Club is my favorite - 3 pieces of toast stuffed full of turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato with just the right amount of mayo. So good - and so big my husband and I shared one and it was plenty. That and a plate of potato chips for $6.75. Can't beat it. read more

Went in today at 1145am and was greeted immediately. Place was clean, plenty of tables, sit anywhere. Took our drink order and immediately came back and took our order. I got the Turkey Bacon Double Decker (Manhatten) in no time which had a lot of meat and bacon on it. Very good. My co- workers got the cod fish special and a chicken salad. They could not eat it all. Very attentive waitress, wish I could remember her name. Refills on drinks without asking. Had check ready. Lots of people there when we left. Some had meetings there. We picked this place for a last minute lunch as the Bengals were about to kick off. It's a cute little bar/cafe place with a good amount of tvs and surprisingly empty for a 1:00 on a Sunday during football season. Although it was pretty empty, the service was pretty slow. I went with my parents who all ordered different food and I 'panic ordered' when the waitress came to out table and ended up getting the "Silver Combo". This has a little bit of everything, pepperoni bites, mozzarella sticks, their homemade chips, and chicken tenders. When we finally got our food, my mom and dad liked their meals (chicken and burger) but I wasn't a fan of mine. It started off with only getting one mozzarella stick (I LOVE some sticks). Maybe I don't like the type of oil they use to deep fry things (is that a thing people complain about? I have no idea) but everything I tasted had an awful after taste to it. I ended up only eating the pizza bites. All in all, I would probably try this place again and order something not fried since my dad is a huge fan. Also, just found out on Saturday and Sundays they only have one server working so the service might be slow depending on how many people come in. read more
