Exercised here while I was on vacation in SoCal in May 2025. It's a great gym with nice staff, foosball, ping pong, and a nice lounge area in the front lobby. The weightlifting area had a good amount of barbells, dumbbells, machines, and treadmills. I was able to get a good workout in, and, honestly, working out in the same region that Arnold Schwarzenegger and movie stars reside in made me want to work out harder haha. I wish there were more stationary bikes, but that's a nitpick. The stretching area is also in the walkway area, so it was kind of awkward stretching as people walked by or waited for their exercise class. Lockers and bathrooms were clean. read more

This facility is constantly closed for reasons like member meetings, maintenance, construction, and events, making it very inconvenient for paying members. The operating hours are already much more limited compared to other gyms, yet the membership fees are higher while much of the equipment is outdated, limited, or frequently out of order. Instead of prioritizing customers' convenience and keeping the facility accessible, members are expected to constantly adjust their schedules around these frequent closures. Overall, the management seems more focused on internal activities than providing a reliable experience for their clients. read more

Best gym in Simi Valley. Exceptionally friendly, nonjudgmental, and motivating environment. There are all different types of classes, and my favorite is zumba and spinning. It really is a family gym, free classes for the youth and many other child-centered activites and programs. This is my second home, I have been going on and off for 20 years and many more to come. The weight section has everything you need cable machine, leg press, squat rack, bench press. They also have stair masters, elliptical, stationary bikes. They have two individual rooms that have weight sets, trx equipment, kettle bells and more. The lobby expanded and it has a pool table, ping pong and more. My favorite are the study sofas, and the homework section. It's perfect to finish work and do homework with the little ones. read more

Summer is the time for swimming lessons and what better place than the local Y. Sing it with me: "That's when someone came up to me And said, young man, take a walk up the street There's a place there called the YMCA They can start you back on your way" lol jk But I'm so excited they offer PRIVATE lessons for swimming. Of course they have group rates but if it's your 1st time and you want the extra attention, it's so worth the extra $. Their private instructor Jacob took the time to get my son acclimated to the water and use the flotation devices to get him swimming from one end of the pool to the other all within the 1st 30 min of lesson #1. Also helped him feel comfortable holding his breath underwater and even diving for colored rings. YMCA gets to drop the mic and yeah we did it for ya pops! read more

Not your typical gym. Low pressure atmosphere lacking muscle bound self absorbed meat heads and miss America contestants. What you do get are helpful staff, family friendly activities and trainers, skilled swimming instructors that are great with kids, and a great child watch Service while you work out. I never compete for treadmills- of course running isn't exactly a highly sought after activity, and seldom have to wait more than a few minutes for the weight machines.... Now if they just served lattes and fruit shakes, and had a sauna I'd want for nothing! read more

So I just wanted to use the pool for exercising since I have bad knees bad heart and can't do any impact stuff. The pool would be the best form of exercise for me according to my cardiologist and all my other doctors. They wanted $75 a month to join just to use the swimming pool. It's clean, non competitive, and has friendly staff. And it's reasonably priced. The members are diverse in age and race and culture. I especially like Marina's 10:00 yoga class. It's a well paced and well rounded vinyasa class. I can go in feeling sore and creaky, then come out feeling refreshed and strong. I love the balance of this class and need to try others as well. I recommend our local Y. It's a good place & they have sales on the sign out front, so keep an eye out if you're interested. read more

It makes me sad seeing some of the low reviews of this Y because we've been members for three years now and I'm very happy with the Y. My son has autism and they have gone above and beyond to make my son feel welcome. Of course, there are times where I wish they would've pushed my son through swim lessons and not let him be lazy, but these these are teenagers who don't have any formal training with special needs. Regardless, they have been patient and caring towards my son and my son is a great swimmer now and is learning to surf at 6-years-old. My son now attends Kidfit and I can't speak highly enough of this program. They teach health, fitness, and safety and he loves going and feels apart of this community and most importantly welcomed. I also take advantage of the gym and although it's small it has everything you need and it's clean! The other members are respectful and wipe down the equipment and there are plenty of paper towels and spray bottles available. This is probably the first gym I've gone to where I don't get constantly sick. I do need to try out the classes (especially yoga and Pilates) so I can't speak of them, but I'm planning to. Also, the child care staff is great and my son never wants to leave when he goes. They are always personable and ask if my son can have the snacks they provide. As for the front, they know my son's name and always say hi to him by name. I don't know if they know my name (they probably do), but they always greet me in a friendly manner and besides it's more important to me that my son gets the attention. If I ever have a question to ask they do their best to help; and if they can't help they let me know who can and when they'll be in. I've never had any issues with them and they are very nice. All anyone ever needs to do is take a moment to say hi and be friendly with anyone and you'll be amazed how much better of an experience you'll have with an interaction. read more

The pool is always cold and not the cleanest water. Life guards seem to not care and are always in groups talking to each other with there backs to the water. They also treat most of the older members like kids and have to be told that they are to load. when we went to school we could not talk but now we are grown people an like to meet with friends at the pool, sorry that we are disturbing the life guards conversations. Managers don't seem to be on the guest side at all. I have been to many y.m.c.a. and this is the worst. read more

I am giving it an ok review based on this.. The child care is amazing. Those people will take great care of your kids. The soccer, basketball and gymnastics programs are top-notch. The ballet program is horrible. Those teachers are very mean and make the kids cry. They do not know how to teach 3-4 year olds. The ballet is included with membership, but please do not do do that to your child. They are nice to the few they like, but treat the others just terrible. Join for everything else ,but not the ballet. read more

Was excited to enroll my child in afterschool care at their home school and Tricia was amazing at getting us settled and started. I read from other parents challenges with the afterschool care and have seen some of what they are talking about. It seems a lot of the time when I pick up my child the counselors are on their phones or all sitting together doing their own things not interacting with the kids. I can get over that because I am only there a few minutes a day and don't see what goes on the rest of the day and my child has not complained of any wrong doing The reason mainly for the 2 stars is we purchased a membership for the summer and enjoyed swimming at our leisure. The pool was only closed twice when we went to swim for meets that were held so we went to the Conejo Valley YMCA and swam there which was a nice change. We wanted to put our membership on hold for a few months but was told they could only do it for a month. We ended up having to cancel and was charged a $40 fee even though we were told there is no cancellation fee. When we called to inquire, my husband was told it was a program fee that was waived when we joined. I can understand that if we were told anything about it either way. Really disappointed on multiple counts but will hope for the best as we continue with the afterschool care. read more

The child care is AMAZING! My kids have never loved going to a childcare before. The people are great and its always the same few people there. The swim lessons for the kids is also great. My son has autism and they work very well with special needs children. The gym has everything you need as far as equipment. Its never overly crowded and people are nice. Spin Class is amazing if you really want to sweat! All the rest of the classes are just so-so if you are in good shape. They seem to be a little more low key for people trying to get in shape or older people. But I cannot say enough about this place. Love it. read more

I am happy to have a facility like this in Simi Valley but I am taking one star off due to front desk people who were not helpful. I am taking another star off for their pool rule. They were not allowing anybody in the warm pool even if the class has not started. I understand no one can go inside of pool when there is a group class but it was 5min before class and everyone there were just inside of the pool and talking. Other than these, instructors are very nice, directors are nice. read more

I have been a member here since they first opened in 2000. The facility is clean and the people that work here are always friendly and helpful. If I was writing a review based solely on the instructor I would give him 5 stars! Bertini is an AMAZING instructor and was very good with my daughter. Although she cried for most of the first lesson he stuck with her and she loved it by the end. As for every other aspect of the YMCA... Their business staff is rude and incompetent. I would not suggest giving them your money because if they over charge you, you will be lucky to ever see your money again. If they make a mistake, you better make sure you catch it because they will never admit to it. They speak down to their clientele and have no intention of being helpful. If I knew the phone conversations I was going to have to deal with I never would have signed her up. I guess when you have a corporation mentality its okay to treat your customers as we don't matter as an individual. With all the poor reviews I should have gone with my instinct. I would of just given no stars but there is no such an options. The front desk staff there is ridiculously incompetent, unprofessional and "outdated". Most of the time they are not computer competent, it is always a computer fault that something does not load, or do not go through. I am pretty sure, computers at ymca are working just fine, it is the staff who does not know how to operate it. Come on, hire someone students who are smart, quick and know how to work on the computers. If you need to register for classes or cancel something do it online if it is possible-it is faster and a not stressful, save yourself time and your nerve cells. read more

This is for the YMCA's "summer camp" program. I sat down with the calendars for the YMCA's "travel" camp, and the "base" camp, with the little one (8 year old girl), and she chose the base camp. I did this based on the recommendation of a trusted science teacher friend of mine. I initially only signed her up for 2 weeks, thinking she'd have a similar experience to other camps she'd been in (she was less than enthusiastic), but I'm happy to say we went the whole summer, all the way to the last day! The program is fantastic (the multi camp swim is great), and it's not just babysitting; every day I got an excited rundown of what was learned, the activities, what they made, and I hung around long enough to see some interactions myself, and I was very impressed. I don't write many Yelp reviews but I had to do this one. The favorite counselor was Hannah, but I'm told ALL the counselors were great. There's a good emphasis on getting along with others, responsibilities, and "have fun and be safe!" We were both very sad that camp ended :) read more

The only reason we have remained at the Y as long as we have is because of the leadership of Stacy. She is compassionate, empathetic and a absolute GEM. She is willing to work with people and figure out a resolution or solution to every issue I have not however had the same experience with their Executive Director Dan Jaeger. He is often times rude, close minded and arrogant. I have tried to express my cocnerns with Dan, several times to anyone who would listen but no one has taken it serious, nor have they done anything about it. I went into the Y yesterday and it was like they had Zombies working there. The moral of the staff is in the toilet. I asked to speak to Stacy and I was informed she no longer works there, the lady at the front desk actually teared up, when she told me. Wow, what an impact Stacy made on these people. I hope whoever let her walk away from the Y, realizes what a terrible decision that was.You will NEVER find another person who is capable of making every person feel as though they matter, no matter how annoying they can be. I doubt they will get that out of Dan. We will be moving away from the Y for the sole purpose of the lack of importance on the type of leadershsip they have chosen to employ. I really wish Stacy all the best because you are going to be a true success. You cant teach the skills you have. read more
