This is the first gym I joined when I moved to Simi Valley in 2022. It started off being an amazing gym, but slowly over time became worse and worse. They did a remodel in the end of last year and got new equipment, but now machines are sitting broken for months without repair. This is ridiculous. Additionally, the gym is rarely clean. There is trash and wipes left on the ground all over the place. The cable handles are never placed back on the racks and employees just sit at the front desk doing nothing. Don't go here. I enrolled my son and bought him sessions with a trainer. They don't value customers time. Strike 1 - They scheduled my son for his 1st training session the same day we enrolled, they confirmed with the trainer and we were told to come back at 6pm. 10 minutes before his session the gym called telling me there was a glitch and the trainer already had another person so our session was cancelled. Strike 2 - I scheduled a session on the app , we show up and was told by the trainer himself he did not see our reservation and needed to re-schedule. He re-scheduled us through my app and confirmed the session on his end. My son had his 1st session. Strike 3 - Scheduled another session on the app, called the gym the day of the session to confirm, we show up, wait 15 minutes while our trainer is goofing off, I tell the front desk, our trainer comes to us and tell us he did not see our reservation and re-scheduled us again. Strike 4- We now have a 30 minute session scheduled but I added another 30 minutes on the app to equal a 1 hour session to just get it over with as I am now annoyed. My son and I show up, we wait 15-20 minutes for our trainer as he is with another person, he finally comes to greet us and I tell him I added the 30 minutes and he said he cannot due to having another person scheduled then he says he will make it work. He goes off with my son, after 25 minutes my son calls me saying the trainer had to re-schedule the other 30 minutes (i am mad now). We continue to work out for 20 minutes and as we are walking out I see the damn trainer is goofing off at the front desk !!!! No respect for our time. The place is dirty. The speakers in the fitness room have been broken since November 2025, it's currently July 2026. They are now asking the instructors to bring their own speakers. It's insulting. There is dried up gum on the floor, hair, dirt and trash. Mirrors are dirty. Also heard from another member that the pool heater is broken. I'm giving it a single star because yelp will not allow me to give a zero. Fix the room or members and great instructors will leave. read more

I've been a member since Oakridge. Sure a lot has changed, especially the staff. The hometown family feel is gone. You'll pay rude, lazy employees but won't pay to fix equipment - makes a lot of sense Ariel one of the newest managers is snotty, rude and shouldn't work with the general public. After her own workout apparently she hangs out behind the counter half naked before getting dressed. No one wants to see her butt cheeks and her stomach hanging out. She's an employee for goodness sake. And does she even know how to smile? Some of the newer counter staff (some little blonde that looks 10) just sits on a stool on her phone, she doesn't greet us as we come in, she doesn't smile. She looks miserable to be there. Again, you're paying this little girl to sit her butt on a stool and be on her phone for hours but won't pay to upgrade your broken down equipment. You can push personal training and supplements all day but when your staff is rude, snotty, sour faced, - I'm considering moving gyms - definitely not investing more money in Crunch. Richard is wonderful and definitely engaged but 2-3 employees out of 10 or so.. you really need to rethink your business model and staff selections Sad, truly missing the old family feel. read more

I am beyond frustrated with management and their complete lack of response to my email from last week. I signed up online, and a week later visited the gym. I was appalled by the condition of the facility. The equipment was dirty and worn out, there was a crack in the treadmill, a clogged sink, a missing piece of ceiling in the women's locker room, and the sauna was filthy with dust in the cracks and blackened benches. I reached out to gym the next day, the employee give me the managers email to cancel my membership and request a refund (or at least avoid the one-time yearly fee), but it's been over a week, and I have yet to receive any kind of response. This lack of communication is completely unprofessional, and I'm incredibly disappointed with how they're handling things. If my membership does get canceled and no one replies I will use my membership to photograph the facility to add to this review. I'm sure your potential clients would like to see the state of your facility. read more

I am writing to share a very disappointing experience I had with Cory, the fitness manager, on my very first day at your facility. I came in looking for the most affordable training option and clearly stated that to him. Instead of being upfront about all available choices, Cory pressured me into a $150 personal training package that I never asked for. He did not mention the $65 package -- which I later discovered the same day. When I told him I needed time to think about it, he responded that "there's nothing to think about," which made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. When I confronted him about not wanting to be locked into the $150 contract, both he and another staff member (TJ) heard me express my concerns. Cory continued to push the $150 option as "the best deal" even though I made it clear it wasn't fair. Eventually, he assured me that the $150 charge would not go through, that it would be refunded, and that I'd be switched to the $65 package. Unfortunately, this turned out to be false -- I was charged the $150 anyway. To make matters worse, I only did one short 30-minute session before canceling, so I never even received the full service. When I followed up, Cory was dismissive, unprofessional, and not understanding of the situation. This is not how new members should be treated. Instead of being transparent and supportive, I felt misled and taken advantage of. Because of this incident, I no longer feel comfortable coming to the gym. I understand sales are part of the role, but misleading members and withholding information about pricing is unacceptable. I strongly recommend that management look into this matter to ensure other members are not treated the same way. At the very least, I expect to be refunded for the $150 charge that I never agreed to in good faith. Thank you for your time and attention. I hope this issue is resolved fairly read more

I had been going to this gym location since before it was Crunch 20 years. Since Crunch took over the atmosphere has changed.I was being harassed by a member of theirs for a couple of years and I have been complaining to them and they would just blow me off like I was some crazy Karen and it finally escalated out of control. The man threatened to beat my you know what in front of management where I felt like I needed to protect myself and grab some thing in case the guy came at me because he was in my face and they decided to revoke his membership and revoke mine. I'm the victim and I got my membership revoked. So ladies, if you have a problem with a man there that harasses you they're not going to help you. read more

This gym has a great location and lots of parking. The facility is always clean and never smells like a 'gym'. The women's locker room is always clean (I can only assume the men's is too). There is a large amount of free weights and machines, and a lot of space to work out. The cardio room has a lot of machines... including recumbent bikes. I like that they have a variety of TV shows to watch and are not stuck with just one channel. The actual training staff is very friendly. I've been working with Jennifer Macias, a trainer, for about four years. She is outstanding. Whenever I have a specific goal to reach, she is always prepared with the right mix of strength, stretch, and toning exercises. She prepped me for a monthlong back country hike. I was totally prepared for it because of her work! This as a great, safe place to work out. The cost is VERY reasonable. read more

The staff at Crunch especially Ivan one of the managers have always been very accommodating and helpful. I've been coming here for a couple of years now and recently started my mom on a series of training sessions and they've been kind and responsive with everything I've asked. We had originally signed my son up for a month-to-month membership and 3 private sessions online. When he arrived to the gym he met with Cory who talked him into a 3 month contract for $1,080. He got him hyped up by saying he could gain 20lbs of muscle by September (3 months). My son did not understand what he was signing up for, and unfortunately he did not show me the contract until 7 days later. The contract reads that it needs to be cancelled within 5 days. When my son phoned Cory today to ask for a refund for the 3 individual sessions we purchased online, Cory said they were already used. Not understanding how they were already used, my son had me talk to Cory on the phone. When I explained the situation he said that he's been at Crunch since January and has signed up 80 satisfied customers and we're the only ones who aren't satisfied with his sales practices. I asked him about the original 3 sessions we purchased online and he said my son used them last week. However, the contract includes 2 sessions a week. My son has only had two sessions and evidently one was for an hour instead of a half hour. Cory became irate and unable to speak to. I find the use of deceptive sales very offensive, and the lack of accountability a negative when it comes to business practices. I hope others read teviews before signing-up, so that they're aware of these kinds of deceptive sales practices. read more

UPDATE 09/14/2025: I received communication from the management at the Simi Valley location, as well as from the owner and two District Managers. They reached out to me personally and took the time to address the concerns I had raised. I've not returned to the location since I left my review, but given the thoughtful and timely manner in which they responded to both my emails and my feedback, I've decided to adjust my rating upwards. It's clear that when higher-ups and corporate take the time to reach out to a member, it shows they do care about our satisfaction. I'm grateful for their responses and for their plans to resolve the issues I pointed out. I look forward to revisiting at some point to see the improvements they mentioned, as well as the full gym remodel they're working on. read more

I had to cancel this service almost 2 years ago, went in person to cancel person was friendly said it was cancelled at front desk. Charges continued went in again same deal charges continued on my credit card. Had to put a hold on my credit card get phone calls to change payment and tell that person i cancelled stop charging me. Thought I got through that and didn't keep up on the stop payment after a couple months, because you have to keep renewing every 30 days. All to realize that they just started up again. Would never return here when you have to cancel you may just get robbed 10 bucks a month and have to argue on the phone to get them to stop and they still won't. read more

Update: I came back after a couple of years later. I was looking for training and remembered I still hadn't used what I had paid for. I gave it a try hoping there would be some changes - and there was a lot. I spoke with Cory, the Training manager, and explained the situation. He understood and helped me get set up with training once again. He hooked me up and I purchased more sessions with my amazing trainer, Chris R. Chris has been a phenomenal trainer and has made me feel confident in the gym. I understand my body more and am able to lift heavier and have lost fat! The training program is results driven, and the team pushes you to perform your best! It's a positive environment and I'm glad I came back. The gym is actually fine for my needs. It's the employees and management that just do not care. The upstairs one and only drinking fountain is absolutely disgusting. There is no water pressure so you have to almost kiss the disgusting dirty green moldy device where the water comes out of. I left this place because you have to send out a search team to find the management personnel to have your emails to them answered. The front desk will take messages but you never hear back. As others have voice, it will take a week or more for a response. Also, all the equipment in the facility is old, or rundown and nothing about the place is inviting or exciting or motivating to be in. I understand that they're not in the business to entertain, but dang, at least make it look lively, and spray some Lysol every now and then. read more

Recently moved to Simi from the West Side. In the 40 + years I've been working out, I'd say I've got a pretty high bar. Overall this is a good gym. Yes, some of the machines are older, and the place needs some updating (which I'm told they are working on that over the next few months). But the space is huge, and there are a ton of different options for every kind of workout - indoors or out. It doesn't feel Bougie or Gross. Cory the head of fitness signed me up for personal training. After my first two sessions it was clear that I needed to be paired with someone else, so I spoke with him about it. He took the time to listen and acknowledge my situation and then successfully matched me with another trainer who is 100% perfect for my needs. That's the sign of good management, leadership and customer service skills. Highly recommend. read more

Don't waste your time with this gym. I use to go here when it was Oakridge and when they first started up as Crunch. It was nice awhile ago but now the people they have working there are RUDE and any kind of help you need they don't help. They also nail you with any kind of fee. If you sign up for month to month, there's no such thing, it's a YEAR COMMITMENT CONTRACT. You will still owe them a lot of money even when you cancel your membership. I spoke to 2 'managers' there and all they wanted was my freakin money and it was like pulling teeth to cancel my membership, even my bank had to get involved! Please, as you're reading this. *30% of the treadmills are broken and out of order. *Bathrooms are disgusting *Front desk employees will just sit on their phones and not engage with members. *Equipment upstairs is dirty and the equipment that is out of order typically stays unrepaired for months. *The members are rude and make inappropriate comments to young females *Overcrowding and lack of a no video policy makes the upstairs impossible to use for a workout without being a part of a high school kids Instagram flex video. This gym is EXACTLY what happens when you offer cheap memberships. The past year, I've only gone when my new gym is too packed or I need to hit a larger muscle group like legs. I've been a member at this building since the early 2000s when it was still oakridge. back then, it was great. fast forward, to more recent years, it was still good but it lacked what a quality health and fitness facility should. During covid, the gym was a haven for fitness. Richard did everything he could to keep the facility open which was something I am still to this day grateful for. now fast forward to now. I have been a member here, well before it was Crunch. I can, without exaggeration say, it has gone downhill ever since. The one bright light is Raelynn. She works the front desk mornings and has been there for several years. Rae is friendly, conscientious and helpful. To start, I had a previous membership at this location, the price was minimal, and I only took Zumba. For health reasons, I canceled the membership. I was then called by an employee to ask if I wanted to re-join. I told him I would, but only if I got the same previous pricing. He explained I would need to pay an enrollment fee and then the previous pricing would be honored. Well that wasn't what happened. After paying the enrollment fee, I have been billed the standard price for over 3 months. Ok, so then I sent an email to the manager asking to cancel the membership, it's been a week and I haven't heard anything, so I called to follow up, I was told the membership was still active and I should re-send the email. So the manager doesn't check his emails, maybe he's out for some reason, don't know, but it is not the way I would handle my business. The Zumba instructors are great, however I don't like being lied to. Therefore a single star review. The room where Zumba is held is dirty, really dirty! read more

The indoor facilities are fine. The problem is that the fail badly in maintaining a decent pool temperature. Further they do not post that the water is cold and when asked over the last two months they offer the same reason of a breaker shutting off the heater. Note: the doors to the pool equipment are not locked. Recently I came to the pool and found if i swam for any prolonged period of time I could risk hypothermia. I left and then called them and asked what the pool temp was and they lied saying it was 79 degrees. Many of the members who swim here have voiced their frustration and even anger. Its frustrating to pay additional money for pool access when its not swimmable due to the cold water. I will add that it took them 7 months to repair the shower water heater from July to January. Imagine swimming in cold water just to get a cold shower as well. The more I brought these issues up to them they now treat me as if I am a problem. I may have to swim at Rancho Simi or CLU pools as they never have these issues. read more

All the features are nice and customer service. My only but important complaint is they really need to update their equipment. It's all pretty out dated. When I go to a gym my equipment at home shouldn't be better than where my gym membership is at home. They also need to clean the yoga room. I'm laying down looking up and see a huge spiderweb in the corner and huge black spiders. We were members at the Crunch location in Burbank for years. Moved to Las Vegas but still have a home in Simi Valley so we go back and forth. My husbands membership was free due to Medicare and I prepaid for two years and received better pricing. We can use our memberships in Las Vegas and Simi Valley. We met C J at the door and he helped us set up our accounts on the Crunch app. He recommended that we sign up for a personal training program to get back in shape as it had been a long time since we had worked out. The initial training programs are reasonably priced. Thank you C J.... I was assigned Chris as my trainer and I was impressed with the entire one hour session. First Chris met with me to discuss my goals, injuries if any and just plain wanted to get to know me. He was professional, knowledgeable and personable. Chris did a great job throughout mu workout by correcting my form and by asking if it was too easy or too hard. When I wanted to give up on a particular set he would encourage me so much that I didn't give up even though I wanted too!!!! Thank you Chris.... We are in our 60s so working out properly is important. I also liked that we did balance exercises. My husband was assigned another personal trainer so I will update this review later. First off I joined this gym because they have childcare which is a big deal for me. Every time I walk by the childcare or have picked up my child the worker is always on the phone. I have never once seen a worker interacting with the children. The equipment is so old and outdated . The lighting is horrible . The front staff has no idea what's going on.
