I placed a pick-up order and I can see why the reviews are a bit mixed. The customer service was decent, so no complaints there. However, the food was another story. I ordered a white pizza (added chicken), along with fried pickle chips and buffalo wings. Here's where I got confused: I thought the fried pickle chips would be like any other normal/crispy fried pickles, but instead, I ended up with pickles that had a soggy coating. I wasn't a fan of the wings either; they were overcooked. When you think of wings, you usually imagine them slathered in sauce (unless it states otherwise), but these were just fried chicken wings. The family wanted pizza and I wanted pizza that was delicious and cost effective. I decided to order ahead at Simona's. The staff was super friendly and took my order with such kindness and patience. They repeated my order back to me and I was pleased with the attention to detail. I arrived at the restaurant and was so grateful got the drive up option when you call in orders. The line moved quickly and I was served with a smile. The staff member greeted me and quickly retrieved my order. The pizzas were piping hot. I paid and tipped the staff. Pizza- average.on par with other pizza joints. the reason I wont be back is due to the expectation of a tip for counter service. You walk in,order at the counter,pay and when the food is ready the buzzer they give you lights up and you walk up and get your food yourself. which is fine,but what the hell are we expected to tip for? ringing up food and putting it on a damn tray for the customer to come and get? I have no idea how this place has the amount of stars that it does. First issue, I placed an online an hour before I picked it up and it wasn't ready. Second, Everything is overly sauced!! Order a Large pizza with sausage and pepperoni. The dough has a decent taste but it was soggy because of ALL THE SAUCE!!! Like do you have a heavy hand or is this the way the pizzas are made? I just cannot!! Also order the stuffed shells and guess what!! TOO MUCH DAMN SAUCE!!! It like they took awhile can of Hunts spaghetti sauce and poured it over the top. I went here on my lunch break and ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap combo. This wrap was so good and fresh. The portion is huge so I really didnt need the fries that come with the combo. The wrap had GREAT flavor. l don't know what brand of dressing they use or if it's made in-house, but it's delicious. Inside the wrap there is sweet peppers, red onions, tomatoes, romaine, and of course chicken. It's my new favorite warp. The fries were ok, nothing special. That wrap is the star. I remember going to this place when they first opened and let me tell you the food was spot on! The customer service was good as well, but over time I'm sad to say... something has just diminished about the place.... It has its good days and has its bad days. I like their pizzas. I love their baked spaghetti with tomato sauce / with or without meatballs. Their chicken Parmesan sub would be great..but they just need to use a better fillet of chicken breast instead of the thinner chicken that's used mostly at Hispanic restaurants. And if they could just understand that cheese comes on salad, so to add that on so that that's not a surcharge.. that would be amazing but other than that, they're okay in my book & im picky. read more

This is some good pizza. Only stumbled upon this after visiting someone at Southside Regional. We didn't go inside, due to ordering ahead of time and then going through the drive thru which is only available for customers who placed their order ahead of time. Staff was very nice in the drive thru. The pizza is very cheesy. Very cheesy. By the time we reached home the cheese had melted over the cut slices and kind of formed a whole pizza again. The sauce is also slightly sweet and the crust was crisp on the bottom but soft throughout. My husband states it's pretty close to New York style pizza and couldn't get enough of it... Went there for lunch and ordered a meatball sub with fries. My wife had what I thought was a Philly Cheese Steak combo. The meatball sub was good. Can't say it's great, but it was good. They give you plenty of fries with the combo. They were good too. The problem was the cheese steak. They used ground beef! Also I don't recall seeing much cheese. Big disappointment. The restaurant was very clean. It is not a average restaurant. They don't seat you or come take your order. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know your meal is ready. Every thing was served on plastic or paper. It's not a knock against it, but just to let you know. I can recommend stopping in for a quick lunch, but I don't recommend the cheese steak. read more

I wasn't very impressed with this pizza spot. I realize they have been around for a while but this was my first time visiting as I usually stick with Sal's. I ordered the chicken philly and a slice of pizza. The chicken philly included peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, and tomato, no mayo for me. It sounds good, but the taste was just ok. The food is good, but service leaves a bit to be desired. Be prepared to get everything for yourself. You have to ask for napkins, and multiple times as you will only get a couple each time. Ranch is an extra charge so you'll have to fork out cash or put a dollar on a card. All in all, it's a nice spot but the service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Potential. Visiting from out of town so I stopped in about 7pm for a quick pizza and ordered a small "combo" pizza from the menu to dine in. The combo comes with shrooms, onions, peppers, pepperoni and sausage. TONS of cheese as others have mentioned (maybe too much if you're not an "extra cheese" type of pizza eater???) They brought the pizza in a cardboard box as if "to go." Maybe they misheard me when I said "Here"? OK no biggie. However, this might have contributed to the soggy bottom pizza, as it really seemed to sweat a good amount into the bottom of the box. Perhaps this place is just one of those that isn't best to order a pizza with 4 or 5 toppings (as come on the Combo that I ordered). The sauce was good; a hint of sweet, which I like on pizza. The crust had a decent flavor but not as good as some of the sourdough based pizza crusts I've had. The young ladies working were all courteous and greeted me when I came in, thanked me for coming, etc. Given the limited options in the Petersburg, VA area, I wouldn't hesitate to try them again. I make an extra effort to support local businesses during COVID-19, however, I was very disappointed. The workers were not rude, but they definitely were not friendly at all. The appetizer sampler: the mozzarella sticks must have been fried in the same grease as the onion rings, because they tasted the same; the wingding's were good after I reheated them, I'm not sure how my food was cold, because I stood there waiting and sampled them on the drive home. To my surprise, the pizza was blah...we love pizza so my entire family was very disappointed. I normally don't write the reviews, but after spending $50+ dollars and throwing most of the food away, hopefully an employee will read this review and step it up a bit. Tonight, I ordered 2 subs and order of fries and paid over $30. I received a big size bag of fries, but they were cold. i asked for fresh fries and the manager took the bag and re dipped the fries in grease. The staff said that they re dipped them because they called the owner Johnny and he said I couldn't get my money back because nothing was wrong with the fries. Then I refused to leave the drive thru until I get some fries and the gave me some more fries half a order and closed the window and told me that they would call the police if I didn't leave. So I reached out management on face book and they didn't have a problem with what happen. they said they couldn't be responsible for food because the make the order and you have to pick up on time- I ordered the food at 7:59pm(per manager) and my credit card receipt time paid was 8:16pm (I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes therefore I was early). The management didn't say anything else on Facebook after i pointed that out. I came to this restaurant at least 3 times a month because I leave less then a mile away. I will never give them another dime of my hard earn money. and of course I didn't trust the food after this ordeal. read more

I went inside to order take out, asked if they had bruschetta on the menu and was notified that they do serve this dish. I then asked if Cheese or Butter was premixed into any ingredients and was then assured they could prepare mine without the dairy. When receiving my order, I noticed it was multiple containers inside a brown bag. I've only order one item, let me check before pulling out the parking lot. As I opened the first container I seen nothing but toast. The second container diced tomatoes. I almost took a bite of toast when I noticed yellow residue all over the toast. I walk inside to return the food because there looks to be butter on it. This tiny old guy then walks from a booth while the young lady is looking at the order and ask me if I'm okay. I reply "yes, I believe this lady has me taking care of". He then walk behind the counter and ask me why I don't want the food. I tell him it appears to be butter on this toast and he then tells me no, its not butter its cheese. He then screams "You just don't want to pay, I'm going to call police on you! They eat here everyday, If you don't want cheese then you must order it without it". I then showed him my order said NO CHEESE NO BUTTER, I was then told to never come back to his restaurant as the other managers literally lifted him away into the kitchen as he shouted at me about having his police buddies come save the day. I just wanted my $11.50 back. Most expensive toast I've ever seen. If you are reading this and considering spending your money with these people, just remember one thing. This place doesn't care about our community. They only care about your money. Spend money with local business owners; Respect! read more
