11/16/21: We have been here 3x since 11/3/21. I was craving candied yams, and this place gets 5 stars for them. They are so delicious and sweet. I'm addicted. I wanted some tonight, but they ran out. I will definitely try back tomorrow. Here are the scores on the other things we've tried: Mac n cheese = 5 Fried chicken = 3 Cornbread = 1 (Burnt burnt burnt...each & every time!!) Fried pork chop = 4 Smothered pork chop = 4 Hamburger & gravy = 2 (I didn't like it AT ALL. The gravy was bland and the burger patties were tough. Won't try that again.) Rice = 1 (Bland & crunchy!!) Fried fish = 4 Sweet potato pie = 3 (Blah. It's missing something.) Gary who takes the orders isn't the friendliest. He needs to work on his attitude. If I didn't become addicted to those yams the first day, I wouldn't have come back after that visit due to his attitude. The prices are decent for what you get. I'm going back tomorrow for those yams. :)

Pig Feet, Yams and Mac & Cheese!

Food so good and fresh! Clean and they are friendly! Service was fast we got there and 15min later we got our food. As we ordered $56 worth of food !

My family and I came here after a cousin suggested it from eating lunch there earlier. I figured the food would be good since I looked at the pictures. Once I saw pig feet I knew immediately that's what I wanted. We all ordered different things and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The portions were leftover worthy for sure. It's also a black owned establishment and the owner was there keeping us company as well. Soul food lives here.

Great Chicago style restaurant with very generous portions. Fantastic quality that is worth the trip off the interstate. Just a few minutes off of Interstate 95 for those who want to venture out.

    Mac&Cheese, soooo good!!!

I was out in the field for work and my two other coworker wanted to stop in to eat here. I'd brought my lunch and was going to eat what I brought. I did decide to get a side of mac and cheese. First of all, I wasn't expecting such a big portion and it was only $2.50. When I get back to the office and sit down to eat the mac and cheese with my other food soon as i bite into to the mac and cheese I said, "YES GAWD! WHO MOMMA IS IN THAT KITCHEN!" THE FLAVA!! It's warm, cheesy, and moist goodness. I know there's cheddar but I don't know what else. After I gobbled the mac and cheese up I wish I had ordered something else. I can't wait to stop by and try there other foods cause if the mac and cheese is an indicator of how the other food will taste I'll be a new regular.

The food was mediocre at best‍. The cornbread was very very dry and looked like it was burnt. I got the fried chicken dinner meal with the mashed potatoes and yams. The yams were a little bit too sweet for my liking but were good. Also I will say that the mashed potatoes were good. The chicken wasn't the best, I say this because the wings looked very small and tasted a little off. (Wings looked similar to the picture below. I didn't take a picture of the meal)

Fish, cabbage ants green beans & cornbread And ordered a side of fried chicken

VERY GOOD!! It was exactly what i was craving Great serving portions, went for lunch and couldn't finish it so i have another chance to enjoy it 1 more time. The service was excellent, very attentive and personable. From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted and served in no time

If y'all have been to Lunch or Supper in RVA and had the Fried Catfish, know that the Friday special here is just as good if not better! There're specials Tuesday-Saturday, I'll update my review as I eat each meal! Fun, chill atmosphere. The sign saying Carry out only is, I believe, only up around opening time because they're cooking all the food of the pre-orders so can't service the tables BUT you are free to eat at the tables after you get your food at the counter.

Super helpful staff and amazing host!…read more Ernestine's table was such a great place to visit. It is located, not too far from a local church in Petersburg, and the place is a little hard to find. If you don't know that it's there. We were greeted with such a warm reception the place smelled delicious , and the staff was welcoming. They had such a wonderful vibe with the food and the music. We were quickly seated and offered a menu to look at the Wonderful soul food. They also had a full bar with different types of beverages for all types of pallets. One of the other, inviting things on the bar was a full cadre of different types of desserts. It was a party of four and we each got different things. I got the chicken wings with the macaroni and cheese. Someone else got pork chops with side of collard greens and mashed potatoes. Somebody else got turkey wings with an array of sides. The last person ordered some fried fish With french fries. Everything came out, hot and fresh and smelled amazing. The staff was friendly. The food was hot. The vibes were fun. It was a great place to hang out and catch up with old friends. I would suggest that you come spend some time and enjoy the variety of soul food options.

I just know that they are located at 2226 W Washington St. in Petersburg, VA very close to Fort Lee base. The cashier/order taker was nice. We ordered the following: Fried chicken legs = 4 (Fresh, flavorful, & juicy) Mac n cheese = 4 Cabbage = 3 (Tasted like it was cooked in pork grease & It coated my mouth. Wasn't pleasant.) Rice = 2 (Bland & mushy) Hamburger/Gravy/Onions = 3 (Lacking flavor & the meat was tough. It had a lot of gristle.) Cornbread = 2 (Tasted old & was hard/dry. Even after warming it up, it was too hard/dry. It crumbled apart. It was somewhat sweet, so if it was fresh I know it would've been BOMB!) Candied yams = 3 (I really wanted these. They were sweet, but the texture was off. Hard to explain, but it wasn't what I am used to.) I can't say I won't go back to try something else. It wasn't the worst. I just wish I really knew the name of the restaurant. The signage is confusing.

I can tell that much love and care was placed in this establishment as Miss Karen told me it was named after her daughter that passed away from a car accident and she was the only one of her children that cooked well. She stated that she had been in the Petersburg area for many years with other locations, but this is her most current location. They have mini vegan options that are cooked with no meat to allow for a healthier selection, so if you are a pescatarian or vegetarian, this is a friendly place for you to. First trip to the buffet, I tried the fried chicken (skin was a little too salty for me, but the meat itself was juicy and delicious), the hushpuppies (so crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside: delicious!), mashed potatoes with hamburger steak and gravy (soooooooooo good!!!), cabbage (good), Mac n cheese (soooooo cheesy and delicious. I could feel my arteries clogging, but that's how you know it is good), chopped bbq (tasty, but I would have loved a different bbq sauce, theirs is a little too vinegar heavy for my personal preference), and a sausage (soooooo good! I could have eaten about 50 of them!). Also had some potato salad and Cole slaw on the side that were both straight out of my childhood in Georgia. My second trip to the buffet, I had to get more mashed potatoes and hamburger with gravy, Mac n cheese, and hush puppies because they were awesome. Added some chicken and dumplings (yum!), corn (sooooooo great mixed with the mashed potatoes), as well as the peach cobbler (I wish the peaches were chopped smaller so they weren't so hard to swallow), apple cobbler (pretty good), and banana pudding (amazing!!!) I wish I had room for a cup of their ice cream, it was all those little cups but they had a bunch of flavors like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and COFFEE! I'll save some space next time. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and the decor looks like every barbecue restaurant I've ever been in with pig decor everywhere. I really like that They used more spices than just salt. This is one of the very few buffets I've ever been to that. It was not just overwhelmingly salty I also really liked their waiting room for when the restaurant gets too crowded and you have to get put on a list. There was so much seating that I would not have been annoyed standing around waiting for my table. We did not have to this time, because we were seated immediately, but it's good to know that you have options if you're ever here during a really crowded time of day. I will say that the temperature was a little too warm for my likings, so even though a lot of the clientele of a certain age shall we say were very comfortable, we ended up sweating and feeling a bit nauseated by the time it was time to go because it was just so hot. Definitely going sleeveless clothes next time I come here. I cannot wait to come back and demolish their buffet again. It was all so good.

I definitely went at the wrong time and on the wrong day because by the time we got there, it was club time. We only wanted food. We didn't want to party & dance. The music was extremely loud & they allow smoking inside (& I mean all kinds of smoke too...#weed). I don't smoke, so that just made me nauseous. There was 1 security guard at the door patting everyone down. He also didn't have a problem urinating on the side of the building & going right back to patting down people without even attempting to wash his hands. GROSS!! I truly have no words because he didn't even try to hide it nor did he go to a spot no one would see him at. He was practically on the curb. Food: When we ordered, they were out of candied yams, so I was bummed. We ordered fried whiting, onion rings, and fries. The food was hot and fresh. The onion rings were over cooked though. They give a huge block of cornbread too. It was a little sweet but not too much. Parking/Safety: You can park on the street or in their little lot. I'd try hard to find parking on the street if I were you just in case something pops off. There's A LOT of riff raft going in and out of this place. I was worried something was going to happen the entire time I was there. They need to up the age limit or something. They were really too rowdy both inside and outside the bar/club. Definitely not my cup of tea. This isn't the safest area as is, and the way people were coming in droves made me that much more anxious. No one was wearing a mask either & there was no limit to the amount of people they were allowing in the building. I won't say I won't ever go back. I will just say it will be in the daytime and never again during club hours. Hopefully next time they will have candied yams & I won't have to be frisked by their disgusting security guard.
