I went to Simon's bright and early to purchase cabinet hardware-- plans were in hand, ideas were in mind, checkbook was ready. I was directed to Daniel who was on the telephone (clearly with a friend), chatting about his seasonal allergies and waited a good fifteen minutes as he went on and on, ignoring me. He eventually told me to look around (he seemed annoyed!) and see what I liked--then said he was going out for breakfast and would be back soon. So I walked a few blocks to Hafele on 26 St. Their selection is even better, the sales people are pleasant and helpful and I'll never return to Simon's again. read more

Went to Simons to order a grill for a built in that covers my air/radiator....they wanted to charge me $750 per grill with a lead time of 4-6 weeks! I went home, got online and found the same exact grill for $125 and got it delivered in 3 days direct to my door. Simon's is overpriced and are really taking advantage of people. read more

I had a great experience at Simon's today. I'm finishing a renovation and needed a few more hinges, door stops and door pulls asap. My internet order had come in completely wrong (common experience with my online purchases for this reno). Ray was extremely helpful in finding in Stock items that matched my colors and material in record time. I regret that I didn't purchase more of my hardware from a local retailer because I've had so many problems with items ordered online (privacy doorknobs not working, screws missing, wrong finish color, etc). Their new showroom is gorgeous and the displays are so helpful. I wish I had known about this place because it would have saved me a lot of headaches. Their prices were marginally higher than purchasing online ( for Baldwin, emtek, etc) but the service made it totally worth it. read more

the good part of the review is dealing with the owner "alison" a wonderful woman and helpful while i did two of my nyc bathrooms. i am only sorry for her, she was amazing. the fact that it got to her attention, an awful , awful , horrible place to shop! i spent close to 20,000 dollars there, and could not get sales help, most items came in wrong, no follow up when problems were handled .. i will never shop there again and advise anyone i know not to even try... the kicker is they had prices above the competition in every category until alison got involved! read more

A great place to get inspired for your bathroom... The perfectionist in me took 6 months to find the perfect sink for my 1/2 bathroom a few years ago, but I found it at Simon's. (I still get compliments on it!) When I recently decided to renovate my full bathroom, Simon's was my first choice... but the lack of service turned me off. I walked in several times and asked several salespeople for help (who were just sitting at their desks) and they still wouldn't help me. When someone finally helped me, I was astonished to find out they charge $300 to deliver a basic $500 tub to which I promptly responded, "You're out of your mind!" Not sure if this salesperson gave me the correct info, but that sure wasn't a way to snag a sale. read more

Everyone writes reviews when things go wrong here I want to write a review when things went very very well. I ordered a toilet and toilet seat as well as other plumbing supplies from AF New York when doing my renovation. After my renovation my toilet seat cracked and so I had to order a replacement seat. true to form AF New York was completely unresponsive and unhelpful so I had to go directly to the manufacture of the toilet seat and they told me to reach out to several New York vendors to acquire a new one. I reached out to several and Simons was by far the best. Natalie assisted me over the course of several weeks and finding a new toilet seat and she corresponded with me promptly and in every instance I'm really happy with the product but moreso happy with the service. I'll certainly be coming back to them for all of my plumbing needs in the future. read more

I went to the store wanting to buy 2 closet door knobs. What I thought would be a very simple process turned out to be a disaster. When I walked into the store there were around 5 employees either on their computers or on their headset phones. After waiting for around 5 minutes I asked if someone could help me. A gentlemen, very pretentious I must say, said yes he would assist me and asked which knobs I was interested in. When I showed him he said all the knobs on the panel that I was looking at were not in stock. When I asked how did I know what was in stock he pointed to some and said he would need to check the computer. In addition, there were no prices listed as is required by NYC law. I left this store in disgust. I wound up purchasing knobs on Amazon. read more

I've spent a lot of money at this store and will go back. It's the place to go for bath fixtures and any kind of door hardware. It's not cheap but it's worth it. The bath department staff is friendly and helpful when they aren't overwhelmed but the hinge/pull department could use some attitude training. Their deliveries are a nightmare, which is why I'm only giving them 3 stars. It will never arrive on-time and it will be the wrong thing when it does. read more

The most frustrating order I have ever placed over $6,000. Amateur hour. Imagine placing an order for locksets and handles and spending months to sort it out after repeated phone calls and on site consultations. Incomplete sets, malfunctioning or ill-fitting. My wife and I went here to pick out new knobs for our kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity. They had a great selection (including some high end ones well outside of our price range, as well as some more affordable options). They also had helpful staff. I am a designer & despite the fact they have lots to choose from I refuse to ever shop there again. On 4 different occasions, I have gone to them to get hardware. They do not acknowledge you when you come in, are reluctant to get out of their seats to help, & do not respond to emails and phone calls. After getting blown off the 4th time by a jerk named Ishmael I wrote him this "What happened? This level of customer service is ridiculous. I have been waiting nearly a month for you to get me anything, pricing, samples etc.. Nothing. Thanks" to which he didn't respond AGAIN. So Ishmael, now what? Go there, write down the brand & item number & google it for better prices or deal directly with the manufacturer. Not only do they have horrible service, but they are expensive too. No "Can I help you?" or "I'll be with you in a minute"...NOTHING. I stood right next to one of these guys for about 5 minutes and he didn't even have the decency to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. It was obvious that I was waiting for someone to help me. I've purchased from Simon's in the past, and while their prices are not great, a professional discount, selection and service made it worth while. A recent experience has nudged me to look for a new "go to" vendor. I ordered a unique replacement glass shelf for a Duravit cabinet for a client. After waiting over three months I left a message asking where my item was. No response, but "miraculously" I got a notice saying the item was in a few days laterlater. I arrive to collect my item and am handed a flat glass shelf that I could picked up at a glass store for $20, (which is what I suspect they did since it did not come in any kind of Duravit packaging.) While I trust I will be refunded in the end, and I know it can be difficult dealing with european vendors like Duravit, unreturned calls and emails, and general foot dragging is unacceptable. read more

I had a great experience at Simon's. I got there late on a Thursday afternoon, and the store was crowded. My daughter and I spent a lot of time looking around by ourselves, waiting for someone to help us. Even though it wasn't his fault, Daniel apologized for the wait (there were only a few salespeople on the floor), and said that if we could hang on for a little longer, he could help us. Once he became available, he was incredibly helpful and attentive, and we managed to get a lot more accomplished than I had even hoped for (we needed hardware for 3 bathrooms, and for new built-in cabinets in two bedrooms). I needed to confirm some measurements before actually placing the order, so Daniel gave me his cellphone number so that I could call him directly the next day. The most helpful hardware/bathroom supply store I've found in NYC. After searching NYC and Brooklyn for a broken european medicine cabinet hinge for a couple months and at least 8 hardware stores later, someone at Home Depot suggested we try Simon's. We went in to Simon's and asked the first representative we saw for help. One minute later after showing him my broken hinge, he typed a bunch of information into his database and found the replacement in the system. He printed off my receipt (super cheap i must add) and then a second later the hinges magically appeared in some dumbwaiter that he called up from the basement. They were super friendly and if I had just gone to them in the first place, I could have saved myself hours of searching. Don't be intimidated by the nice decor and expensive toilets in the entrance, they actually have individual hinges, knobs, and everything you might need for your bathroom. read more

Somehow in the process of negotiating with our contractor it became our responsibility to buy all the door hardware. I found the showroom to be a bit overwhelming, but sales person listened to my wants and needs and narrowed things down nicely. I was very satisfied with my experience. When there was a hiccup in the order said salesperson was not as helpful, however, management stepped in and made the whole thing right. In the end, I received the service I would expect from a company like this. Simon's has a great selection of high-end fixtures and it's a good place to get ideas. As other reviewers have said, sometimes it does feel like you are being ignored but I suspect that the staff is accustomed to the browsers. Great selection. More expensive than internet prices but worth it if you want a knowledgable sales person to help with your selections. I purchased two vanities, shower trim, medicine cabinets, mirrors, and shower glass doors. Yes, the sales people are busy and can be hard to reach but for me, I still preferred working with one dedicated salesperson rather than a general 1-800 phone number. One of our sinks arrived broken and the delivery guy took it back with him. After a frustrating few weeks my issue was finally escalated and Jamie, the store manager, was extremely helpful and made sure my money was immediately refunded. read more
