This place represents the reason small business are dying in NYC and its going to be over run by shitty strip mall chains. This has got to be the worst almost shopping experience Ive ever had. The Owners must be old and dying or actually just not care cause it was absolutely lawless. The only person working was the janitor. One sales guy was so High on Cocain i thought it was a movie about wall street in the 80s. Not to mention the chump in cheap dollar store necklaces and rings... I imagine business here has been in the pits ever since Mr. T and Cocain were in fashion. I cant wait til this turns into a Pizzaria Uno and some local news blog writes an article about dying NYC without ever having had been in there. There is a reason this city's landscape is changing. And its because when you own the building your shitty mom and pop hardware store is in you stop caring about the business and focus on flipping studios above it to NYU graduates. The customer service and follow through at Simon's Hardware & Bath is TERRIBLE. The staff is not well trained in the products they sell and they are rude to customers. We went in with a simple request. They told us that our only option was to custom order. Six weeks later the order arrived incorrect. They did not return my phone calls and I finally went in to pay them a visit. They actually had the five dollar item I needed all along but instead sold me a $150 custom part. Instead of giving me what I needed to complete the incorrect order they proceeded to argue with me and refused to provide me with what I needed. I am planning a renovation and will avoid this place at all costs. I would recommend you do the same. read more

why would anyone in their right mind shop here? First of all they are ridiculously expensive. Expect to pay about 40 percent more for everything here vs online or other places. Secondly talk about time consuming and lack of help. I attempted to buy some baldwin knobs but got tired of waiting for the sales person to get off his cell phone and quit arguing with his girlfriend. when I looked around for someone else the other guy told me he couldn't help me because he was on a break!!!!! Crazy thing is I was in a hurry and would have actually paid their ridiculous prices but never again. This store is dead to me. How do these people stay in business. read more

Once this place used to be great but unfortunately that was 20 years ago when I used to go with my grandfather. Today this place is a dinosaur and the perfect example in a case study of what happens when management sits on their laurels and everyone is asleep at the wheel. Don't waste your time. New York Kitchen and Kastel's are right around the corner and will provide a much more current, innovative and pleasurable retail experience. I dealt with Sergio. I had no idea what I needed. He was honest and helpful. Easy to talk to and had a great overall attitude. He told me he would call me back with answers and called me back within 5 minutes. In a world where customer service is what sets most companies apart, Sergio propelled his company to the top with his service. Shopped there the other day and a couple times in the last few months. I was redoing my kitchen hardware and i ended up redoing my door hardware and my kitchen faucet. Great experience, a little pricey, but the people there know their stuff. I was amazed at the choices and the knowledge, plus all of my items came in pretty quickly. I needed several hinges for my office cabinets which are very unusual and hard to get. Simon's had them in stock and I got them right away. I also got two locks for my cabinets which were broken. Simon's came through there also. The sales person was very helpful and efficient and got them right away with a smile on her face. Yelp should know that they are excellent. Buyer beware-Very disappointing on many levels, if you are in the industry, you will be fine, otherwise, get ready for a $ shakedown.

Waste of money at this place. I was able to put purchase my faucets 35% lower online.
