Gringer & Sons was very helpful during the pandemic. As reported in the news, there were severe supply chain shortages & labor shortages as well. Certain appliances were particularly difficult to acquire. My kitchen was unusable, so I didn't really have a choice. The renovatI needed a dishwasher, they were out of stock everywhere; the salesman at Gringer arranged to sell me a floor model, at a nice discount. Delivery was smooth, the unit was installed and works perfectly. Looks really nice too - it's Miele brand so it looks expensive, even though I received a great discount. The salesperson (who unfortunately has retired) was great too, good sense of humor and clear communication. Highly recommend! read more

I would give negative stars if it was an option. RUN RUN RUN to any other appliance store but do NOT shop here. Gringer & Sons is the absolute WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had shopping. Aldo in Sales is horrible and cares nothing about helping you get the right appliance or the right size. We brought all measurements and were sold the wrong size appliance. We went into a specialty store for the help provided by the sales people. We should have gone to a big box store instead or even online would have been better. Customer service is completely non-existent. After spending almost $8,000 they do not care at all that the microwave doesn't fit. The installers called and told them it didn't fit. Aldo is a liar and said, his guys could make anything work. Well it still doesn't fit. And looks HORRIBLE. After weeks of emails, phone calls, conversations with Karina, the Manager, I have gotten no where in returning this microwave for the correct sized one and today I found out she no longer works there and no one can help. I spoke to the owners daughter once time, she was useless and didn't care at all about the problem as a matter a fact, she put me on endless HOLD and then to avoid the problem, she stopped answering the phone when I called. I have finally given up. I am going to keep the too small microwave, see photos of how they left it on two pieces of wood, and I will now have to pay someone else to take care of it. Please do yourself a favor and GO TO ANY OTHER STORE but this one. They should be closed down. I am going to call my credit card as well and report them. There should be no reason they are trying to charge me $250 to return a microwave they sold me that doesn't fit the measurements I gave them. Sending all the bad karma your way GRINGER!!!!! Every weekday at 4PM a Gringer employee sets up a boombox in a service doorway on 1st Ave and blasts music that can be heard a block away. What this has to do with selling refrigerators I don't know but they are the scourge of an already noisy neighborhood. It's not enough that we have sports bars, restaurants, sirens and motorcycles day and night on 1st Ave. We don't need this. If they want to blast music, close the door and blast it INTO the store, not out into the neighborhood. read more

My experience with Gringer & Sons was extraordinary. I had the pleasure of dealing with Arline and Lewis Shenker throughout the process. We ordered a number of appliances for a renovation of our apartment in New York City. There was a shortage of inventory because of the pandemic so we placed our order well in advance which they offered to warehouse for us until needed without charge. This became extremely important because there was a five month delay in the construction. There prices were very competitive and they were always accommodating throughout the process. The refrigerator my landlord provided died after a *year*, so I decided to buy my own replacement and went to Gringer to find out my options. My sales rep, Melanie, was helpful and suggested a Summit, since the company is in the Bronx and delivery would be fastest. It's easily the best refrigerator I've had since I've been on my own; quiet, frost-free--which most of them haven't been--and roomy. (Yes, I'm living alone at the time, but this refrigerator has more interior space than any previous refrigerator I've had.) Also, it's solidly-built. There was a problem with communication, so although I was supposed to receive it last Friday I wasn't told it would be delivered on that day--and I called on Thursday to ask--so it arrived and I wasn't home. Consequently, I didn't get it until Monday. (That's the only reason for the star off.) I'm really happy with my purchase otherwise, and it was a good price; I'll definitely use Gringer in the future! read more

I had a terrific experience with Gringers, particularly after a disastrous one with a big box company. I bought a compact unified washer / dryer from Gringers almost 30 years ago. It finally gave up the ghost a month ago and we needed to replace it. I thought the best thing to do was to simply get the same model. I looked at Gringer's reviews and was surprised they weren't great. So we ordered the same model (updated of course) from a big box store. Although everyone at the big box we dealt with was courteous and very helpful, the machine they delivered was 1. the wrong one 2. came with the wrong power plug 3. the plug did not fit our socket which we found out was obsolete 4. our socket was in the way of the washer door opening and 5. the new machine was broken and cheaply made. Although the guys attempting to install it were amazing and determined, they had never been trained on that particular model. We refused the delivery. So I walked back into Gringers to see if they had the same model. I was assisted by David S. who was great. He didn't up-sell me, criticize me, talk down to me...He also let me know that the model I was interested in was only legal in NY if I was venting the dryer out a window. I had vented into a dryer/bucket of water that came with my old machine for 30 years. However, the laws changed in 2010. To be in code and to have a legal unit for my space I would need a ventless model. What I really appreciated about Gringers is that they will NOT install until they do a survey of the space the appliance is going into. Yes it cost but it wasn't expensive and after what I went through it was worth it. I wanted to make sure there was NOTHING that was going to screw things up. I really appreciate Gringers insisting on this. It guaranteed that I was going to buy something that would work. The gentleman who did the survey gave us detailed instructions of what we needed to do with our socket (move it and update it). He made sure that the models I was interested in - the Miele 24" washer and dryer that stack - would fit in the small alcove I had. I also like that Gringers does things by the book - including a COI (certif. of insurance) correctly filled out. That protects everyone involved - I'm a renter and if I installed a machine illegally or without consent of the owners I could lose the machine and jeopardize my lease. I also sat down with David and we went over the cost of every lined item so that I knew what I was paying for. There were NO surprises in the final bill. I was and am willing to pay for professional service, including delivery and installation. It guarantees me that things will be done right. Delivery and installation are on two separate days - I was on a break from a freelance gig and my spouse is retired. This was not an imposition for us. We were both home. So definitely take this into consideration if you have a tighter work schedule. The delivery guys were in and out in minutes - friendly and professional. The next day Gringers told me my installation would be between 12 and 1 that day. At 12:05 the buzzer rang. Rigo and his assistant literally picked up these machines, carried them down the hall into my tiny alcove and set them up in under 30 minutes and then turned everything on to make sure I was ready to go. I've been doing laundry ever since. Rigo told me if I had any questions, not to hesitate to call him and when we didn't know if a piece left behind was important, we texted him a picture and then heard from him in 4 minutes (it was part of the shipping pieces). I highly recommend Gringers and David S. - he is a great, direct, honest salesman and I so appreciated working with him. read more

I thought coming here would be a good place to get educated and advised on the types of appliances that would work based on our estimated budget, and then eventually purchase from them since they are a local NYC store. I was very wrong. I walked in and there were about 5 men in there just chatting and completely ignored me. I had to go up to the group hoping someone would acknowledge me, and one of them did look up. I explained to him that our kitchen designer said we need to pick our appliances so they could design the kitchen, so I was looking to do that. The guy said that there was nothing in my budget for what I was looking for and that the appliances are picked by the kitchen designer. (In case it matters, our budget is about 10k - not enough for the high range appliances, but certainly nothing to discount either.) After working with GCs and getting estimates from about 7 kitchen places, trust me when I say that you MUST select your appliances first. They basically did not care to help me whatsoever. So I left and have found better luck at a big box store and then at two local appliance stores. read more

ANOTHER BAD REVIEW !!! I bought a brand new FRIEDRICH AIR-CONDITONER in July 2017 . The make and model is not important but I was told the KUHL was the best on the market .... This morning we had water spurting out and Hot air coming out . It seems it may not working anymore . Its such a new purchase I have the original instructions so I found out from the 800 number I am out of warranty . From Marvin (sales) to Vladimir (measuring dimensions etc) to the Delivery Service back to Vladimir for the final installation...very smooth, easy quick process. Had an ok experience calling and ordering the fridge I already knew I needed. The ordering process was easy, fridge came 2 days later. They really nickel and dime you though, fee for COI, fee for delivery, fee for take away, fee for the water hook up to be canceled... The office manager who was emailing me has never heard of punctuation and needs a greater grasp of the concept of tact. That said, she got everything taken care of quickly and correctly. Gringer and Sons. Honestly I don't know where to start. I walk in there are 5-6 guys sitting at desks ignoring me while they talk to each other. I ask them for the person I had chatted with on the phone. They say he is busy. After waiting 20 minutes I ask if they can tell him I'm here. They tell me again he is busy. After waiting a total of 30 minutes I finally decide to just have someone else help me. I had a bunch of questions but he only seems interested in selling me Electrolux. He's not listening to anything I'm asking him. Then I find out that instillation and delivery to Brooklyn is over $500. I came in sure I was going to hand them my credit card and walk out with a washer and dryer. I've never been unsold so quickly in my life. I also had the distinct experience that being a women was an issue. All the people in the store that were getting attention and help were men or women with men. The other crazy thing is when you google appliance store Manhattan they come up in ads every time. This place is spending a ton on advertising but seem to have no desire in providing even baseline customer service. I went with another store that was fantastic. read more

Bait and switch! Be very careful and check model numbers on your orders.  I was shown the exact model of gas range I want at the showroom, and was given a price for the same.  I ordered it and put a deposit of $1,000 for future delivery. Two days later, I realized the invoice indicated a cheaper model # of the same brand.  Alan, the manager, agreed it was a big mistake and would issue a credit on my credit card to refund the deposit.  I called later to confirm.  He tried to sell me the floor model, and then gave me different stories about why he couldn't issue credit on my card (it was over $500, on Amex, etc). None of it made sense. Alan then hung up on me.  Bottom line is they just don't want to issue refunds even when caught with a mistake. I have no option but to dispute the charge with American Express.  I cannot do business with such bad practices. read more
