Beware of signing a waiver with this company when you are moving. I was given one to sign upon the movers arrival when they packed my U-Haul for me. I understood I was responsible for damage to my furniture if I was in an accident cross country, but when I arrived at my destination the furniture had been packed so carelessly that everything was scratched, dented, lamps broken, etc. I had to buy all new furniture because of how badly my furniture was damaged. This company did nothing to help me. All I asked for was a refund of the money I paid them to pack the truck and that was denied. Beware of signing their waiver before they begin work because then the crew has no liability to doing a poor job! My husband and I were moving from the home we raised our kids in. We looked for a moving company and settled on Simple Moves since they were referred to us directly by our real estate agents. That's where we went wrong. Their ability to bid a project accurately is abhorrent - they didn't miss it by a little. They missed it by days. Not only this, but prior to the move we told them numerous times that we were under a strict timeline since we were simultaneously buying and selling. They showed up 2 hours late with one truck instead of two and two workers instead of four. What was supposed to be an 8 hour move turned into a 18 hour move. We had to rent a separate 22 foot UHaul truck and 4 additional helpers to complete the move. I could go on and on but the fact is that they turned our moving day into our worst nightmare. We purchased an elliptical through FB Marketplace and needed it moved from a second floor bedroom to our basement. Because of its size I thought it would have to be partially taken apart. The head mover said they can't do that because of liability but they would do their best to move the elliptical in one piece. I doubted they would be able to negotiate the narrow hallway and steps but the movers patiently lifted and adjusted the angle of the elliptical many times until they achieved their goal. Getting the elliptical into our basement meant fewer steps but there is a tight turn at the bottom of the steps.The movers again patiently and carefully got the job done. We are very happy with the service we received from Simple Moves. read more

If you know anyone planning a move, tell them NOT to use SIMPLE MOVES. My brother Mark used them about 2 months ago and one of the movers took my Mom's wallet out of her purse, stole her driver's license, credit cards, gift cards and money. My brother called the company and they said a manager would get back to him on Monday (it was a Friday move). Seriously...I can't believe they don't have a system where a manager is on call for emergency situations, especially since they do Saturday moves. Unacceptable! My brother did call the police but where told that the wallet couldn't be dusted for fingerprints as they don't show up on them, and since the 3 movers fingerprints would be all over the house, there was no point in dusting for prints at all. My brother finally connected with the owner, who started out apologetic, then basically said his lawyer told him he couldn't talk about it. HORRIBLE response to something pretty simple. For a couple of hundred dollars, they could have made my Mom whole and kept a good reputation. Instead, they will incur my social media wrath forever. The owner was even told that my brother was a building inspector and I'm a real estate agent, and still didn't get him more willing to do the right thing. Bottom line is anyone can have a bad employee and something bad happens. But the way the business deals with the incident makes all the difference between someone you can trust to use and someone you are taking a big chance with. read more

For my not-so-recent move, this company has disappointed me again and again. It's been 6.5 weeks since my move, and I still have unresolved damages on my furniture. I had used them for the first time last year, with no significant damages to my furniture. I decided to use them again this year - good first time experience, mostly positive reviews on Yelp. Big mistake. When the movers came (late, with no advance call), I asked them not to damage my furniture before the move - just in case. They assured me not to worry and joked about it. Well, maybe I shouldn't have been so trusting. By the time all my furniture made it to my new apartment, 6 of them were damaged with cracks, scrapes, and tears. The movers almost forgot to screw the legs of my sofa back on until I reminded them. My dresser came back with a HUGE piece of wood missing instead of the small crack that I had even specifically pointed out to them beforehand. As they were moving in furniture, I heard one of the movers say "Are you going to tell her about it?" while I was in another room. Then silence. Nope, guess they're not. Right after the move, one of the movers talked about how they really value customer satisfaction at Simple Moves and asked me to write a positive review on Yelp. Oh..... so that's why they have all those positive reviews. I called the company about the damages the next day, and within a week, Simple Moves sent a guy to assess the damages. He was polite, took pictures of everything, and said it'd be a simple fix. Said he'd send the pictures to their furniture restoration vendor, and that the vendor would contact me to set up an appointment. 3 weeks passed - radio silence. I had to call again twice to remind them about it. Work Bench Furniture, the furniture restoration company, did a great job at setting up an appointment with me and following through. When Norm came last week to fix my furniture, he said they were only notified of 3 pieces of furniture that were damaged, instead of 6. He had received no photos of the damages. In response to my exasperation at Simple Moves, he shook his head and said "Typical." Now 2 of my furniture have to be taken into the shop to be fixed. Guess who's supposed to set up an appointment with me to pick up the furniture? Simple Moves. Oh, the irony. It's been a week, and they still haven't contacted me to set up a time. They're also supposed to call me anyway to settle damages for my sofa, since Norm wasn't able to fix the fabric tears. So, so typical. I've been unable to fully use my damaged furniture as I've been waiting for them to get fixed. That's 1.5 months after my move, and the battle isn't over yet. At this point, I'm just praying that Simple Moves doesn't damage my furniture again on the way back from the shop. Next time, I'm going to hire real professionals that actually care about customer satisfaction. read more

Everything up to the day of the move was excellent, and handled well. The two movers, however, left a lot to be desired. They arrived within the last minute of the delivery window, and worked slowly. They were careless with my belongings and unprepared (not sure I've ever encountered a mover who didn't bring an extra box or two and packing tape. They had to use mine.) I swear, I feel like such a hobo sometimes. I mean, I've moved FIVE times in the last four years: - from my parent's house to my first apartment - from my first apartment to a rented condo with my then-boyfriend - from the condo to a house with my then-boyfriend - from the house back to a rented condo after that relationship went kaput - and FINALLY, from the condo to my very first HOUSE! I'm a homeowner now, bitches. I swear I'm not moving again for at least 10 years! For someone who absolutely HATES moving, I sure did it a lot. Anyway, now that you know way more about my life history than you ever cared to know, I can get on with my review. For all of my previous moves, I went with Two Men and a Truck. And while they did a good job, they overcharge in a MAJOR way. I paid $600 for a small move with them. Needless to say, I wanted to go with someone else who wouldn't charge so much. Simple Moves to the rescue! I called them and told them my situation (my current address, where I was moving to, how many items needed to be moved, etc.) and they quoted me for less than $200. HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME LET'S BOOK THIS RIGHT NOW. They gave me a four hour window for the move, and told me that I'd receive a phone call a half hour before the movers were scheduled to come. On moving day, I received a phone call half an hour before the scheduled move, as promised. The movers came and were quick, and aside from a bit of flirting, professional. I packed and moved most of the smaller things (dishes, etc) myself, so they just had the big items to move. Start to finish, the move was quick. The best part? The move only cost $155! Less than a third of the price Two Men and a Truck charged! Amazing. read more

I have moved 7 times in the last 5 years across the country and this was by far the worst experience. In short, they refused to take all my stuff and left 30% of it behind. I had to hire another mover off of craigslist the next day to finish the job. I have never seen a moving company bring such a small truck. If you want to be really clear about what your company does, you have chosen the wrong 'S' word for your name -- it should be called "SMALL Moves". When I am booking a move from a 2 BR apartment into a house, shouldn't the salesperson warn me that they have a small truck that won't fit all the stuff an average household might have? To be honest, I was reluctant to use these guys after reading some of the other reviews. After comparing their costs with two men and a truck, the decision got a little easier. I did the Yelp deal, which was just icing on the cake. I was lucky enough to get Fred and Kevin as my movers, and they did a fantastic job. Both were super professional and helpful. They moved my two bedroom apartment 20 miles into my new house in just two hours. Really hard workers who take care of your stuff. The truck size was a concern as well when I scheduled the move. No problems there. They got all of my big appliances/furniture plus all of my boxes with ease. Did I mention it only took them two hours? From start to finish. Unreal! I had a very rude man come to my house to try to give me an estimate on my move. Our home is 3000 square feet and I was wanting to be packed and moved. I am a young-looking female. The estimator made numerous comments about our stuff, stating that we had quite a bit of stuff. He made multiple remarks about needing a lot of packing materials and people to do this move. I get it, that is why I wanted movers. He made multiple derogatory comments about me "filling up the house" and "wow, you must shop a lot." When it came time to talk about the house I was moving into, I was giving him the details. I am not sure if he was not listening, was overwhelmed, or didn't care, but he asked me several times if our new house had a walk-out basement. I answered multiple times that it did not. He got frustrated with me at this point because the only access to the basement was from the interior steps. The estimator, Bill Bechtold, was friendly, yet condescending. He walked around my house guessing how much things costs. He made multiple remarks about what a hard job this would be and how many men it would take. After spending an hour and a half with him, I do not wish to EVER have anyone from this company in my home again. Lastly, it took over a week to get this estimate scheduled. Bill never called me back and finally the nice man that answers the phone finally just put me on Bill's calendar. I am unsure if there was a lack of communication on the company's part on the size of my house and scope of the move, I had spent time filling out an on-line survey of our belongings and speaking with some one on the phone. read more

The receptionist was extremely helpful and called me a day before to confirm our agreed-upon time, and the movers showed up on time (perhaps even a couple minutes early). Simple Moves handled my office furniture and equipment with care and maintained their professionalism, even with having to carry a desk and credenza (200 pounds each) up a flight of 19 stairs in 90 degree heat with no air conditioning. I had used the same mover for over 10 years, but as he passed away I had to find another company. After doing some online and phone comparisons, I decided to choose Simple Moves. Their price was very competitive and their intake phonecall was professional, which put me at ease. They arrived on time, but drove up in a very small van. I knew they wouldn't be able to get everything in there. They packed the van fast, and got as much in as possible, but I was left with many items I had to move on my own. I asked if they had any larger vans, and they said that they only use the 10-ft vans. So what if someone needs to move a 3-4 bedroom home? Nightmare. During the unpacking process, I found that my nightstand has been nicked in about six places, despite their wrappint it in saran wrap. ??? I would recommend them for very small jobs, or one-piece moves, but not for a anything larger than a one-bedroom home. read more

I needed a dining room set moved about 15 miles. I called around and either didn't receive a call back or the quotes were outrageously high. I also couldn't find anyone to be there the next day. Simple moves squeezed me in the next day and they were over $100 cheaper than the other quotes I received. I used them in the middle of October '22. My phone quote was just under $700.00 but when completed, I paid just under $1400.00. The crew that showed up was worn out as they just got done with another move , they arrived about 3pm. The 3 gentleman that did my move very friendly, but they never took any care with my furniture. They had a stack of blue moving blankets, no less than 6 feet tall that looked like they were never used, they were strapped to the front left of the truck. My furniture was stacked on the street without blankets down, and not one blanket was ever used to protect my belongings. They did quite a bit of damage to my master bedroom set and a big dent in my BBQ smoker. They did get a person to make repairs who did a good job, but the furniture is not the same. I reached out to them numerous times for a final bill so I could use it on my tax returns but never heard back from them. I would highly recommend you do not use this company for your move. read more

Moved (simply) across the park today with the help of Quincy, Lawrence and Aaron! Really appreciated the quoting service and how exact it was. The men did not give the impression that they were trying to drag their feet in order to inflate the price.
