How does this place not have 5 stars. Ignore older reviews. This place is the spot if you want to decorate your house or buy a special gift. I've taken my mother-in-law, my neighbors, and my friends here and we're in here for hours perusing all the decor, gifts, rugs, jewelry, cards, candles, dishes, whale signs, mermaid carvings, starfish, and tons more. Complete coastal New England decorating vibe with creaking wood floors, too. I've been in here in every season and the owners do an awesome job keeping it fresh with cool house stuff. The staff are super nice & they do an amazing job gift wrapping. For the holidays, it's decorated with ornaments, pine candles, little silver deer, boxes of chocolates and Christmas cards, ornaments, etc. This store is stuffed with decor and gifts. I am new to the Charlestown area. I have lived here for about a year. I was in the same parking lot of this business having breakfast when a friend of mine suggested I pop in to the store. She said I would fall in love with it, and she was right. Very unique gifts as well as home items and candles. Everything was clean and the selection was an abundance. It is a little pricey, but consider that you are supporting local. Since then, I have told two people and they have gone there and spread the word as well. Needless to say this will become one of my favorite stops for all thing's unique! read more

While waiting for our table at Hungry Haven, we had time to check out the plants, planters, garden decor here. Such a cool little shop, full of home decor, RI themed gifts, local artists crafts, coastal-themed gifts & decor, and clithing. There is a huge selection of gifts and decor items but anyone I have dealt with has been snippy and unpleasant. I don't like going in there.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO FURIOUS IN MY LIFE! We had breakfast at Phil's Hungry Haven and decided to take a walk down to Simple Pleasures after breakfast. HUGE mistake. My husband and I had our three children with us 7, 8 and 2. We were followed around the store by a woman nearly the entire time. Talk about making people feel uncomfortable! While we were upstairs in the children's area my two year old had picked up a few toys, ANYTHING my daughter picks up she gets. Period. This horribly rude stalker woman walked up to my children and said "give me those toys kids". While she did say thank you after taking them, it was completely uncalled for and extremely rude. I had fully intended to purchase the items my daughter was holding. One of my older children had a stuffed whale they brought to show me because we have the same smaller one also. She took that too. My older children are fully capable of picking up items and placing them back where they go. Even if they weren't it's your job as an employee to clean and straighten back up after customers leave. I will never ever go back to this place and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know to stay far away. Unless of course you like being stalked by a rude item snatching woman while you shop. The store is extremely well merchandise with a wide assortment of perfect hostess gifts. A definite go to place for coastal inspired treasures. However I don't think I will ever go back to the shop. I have many choices where to spend my money and I don't think I've ever been to a shop where all three of the owners/ staff were not just rude BUT Nasty! Last visit here today. Been three times over last year and the owner is rude every time. Whether it's me or my wife, he's a jerk to everyone that walks in here. If you read the reviews on Yelp, the majority of people talk about his rudeness and disrespect to customers. Don't bother asking him about any item in his overpriced store. It's a large gift store with an upstairs do not miss the upstairs and hit both staircases as the art work is usually displayed here. Great for art, picture frames, unique gifts, neat furniture (you will not find full sets usually just accent pieces), beach decor, cool garden items, and Vera Bradley. Went there for a very important anniversary present. The man behind the counter was too busy on the phone to help me. He said if the item I wanted was gone then they're out. When I asked if I could have the wall sign ordered he said he'd take my number and get back with me. He never did. Don't waste your time or money here. I was looking for "something" for my bathroom wall and found the most perfect "something". And then, I realized they had clothes! very professional and organized gift boutique. they sell, to name just a few: Vera Bradley, tabletop, beachy clothing, Brighton, Alex + Ani and other unusual costume jewelry. although I noticed the A+A selection is getting thin. it would be nice if the exterior of the barn was updated. it still looks like the Gift Barn which had its own quirky personnel. the Simple Pleasures staff is quite detached. sometimes when I happen upon just the right gift i'm excited about my find!! it would be great if the folks who work there sort of share in the delight at POS....well it is what it is. they were no different when they sold plants and garden statues over across the way on Old Post Rd. ******* BUYER BEWARE - CUSTOMER SERVICE ******** Hi, I came in this evening about 5:15 pm. I come every year to the old "Gift Barn", lol, from Washington State. I have bought for myself and family no less than 25 bracelets from Alex and Ani. I was there with sister and sister in law whom we were all to get sister bracelets. One broke that we bought last year, and we brought it in to exchange the bracelet portion. Your employee was abrupt and unsympathetic and called it "costume jewelry" with no warranties.
