I am going to be honest, I have had coffee over the years from their standalone kiosks and have found most of their drinks to be overly sweet with barely a taste of coffee. I did have their regular coffee several times and it was good. I know they have a good following and this is just my preferrence to have flavor but still a good coffee taste. I walked in and noticed how clean and comfortable looking everything was. It's not huge inside but there's a decent amount of seating if you want to sit down and enjoy your coffee. I didn't realize they had food as well so I will definitely try some next visit. I asked the barista about any homemade syrups, because I like to find interesting flavors and some unusually delicious combinations. They have a full selection of bottled syrups but the barista pointed out that if there are homemade syrups they will be featured on the drink specials. I selected the special Matcha Latte with espresso, homemade fig syrup and homemade plum bitters.....WOW!! It hit every note for me. The employees were friendly and the barista who helped me... thank you for being patient with my questions. This lovely spot is also open in the evening for cocktails! I will definitely be back.

The vibe was relaxed and low-key, making it a good place to sit down and get some work done. I spent some time working while I was there and appreciated having a space where I could focus without feeling rushed. The staff was pleasant, and one of the employees was kind enough to take a picture for me when I asked, which I appreciated. The only thing that stood out to me was that there wasn't much of a greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, but it wasn't a huge issue. The seating was okay. The chair I chose wasn't the most comfortable for an extended stay, but it got the job done. There was also some rock music playing during my visit, which helped create a casual atmosphere. I didn't order any coffee or food this time around, so I can't speak to the menu yet. This visit was more about finding a place to work and unwind for a bit. Would I come back? Yes. While I'm still searching for my go-to coffee lounge in Syracuse, Recess is definitely a spot I'd visit again. It took about ten minutes to get a latte which tasted pretty darn good however when dining in, I prefer a real cup and saucer instead of a cheap carboard cup ..I did ask for one and was told they are not available... and for a $6 cup of coffee I think they should be.
