I randomly stumbled in after a *hairpocalyspe* situation from another salon in the neighborhood and I'm super grateful to say that Cliff fixed it! i always get my hair cut by Francis here and he always does a great job. he pays super close attention to detail on every cut to make sure that it's not uneven in any places. cliff also is good but i haven't gotten a cut from him in a few years. definitely worth it to come here especially considering the price of 30$ per haircut. read more

Don't get a women's haircut here. Been here twice and had bad experience both times with Lisa. Hair was uneven. Very quick but lousy cuts.

Called late Sunday morning for an appointment for a haircut. Was told I could come in right away, which I did. My barber Francis did an excellent job with a shampoo and basic haircut. Simply Cuts is my #2 spot to gets my hair did. Word. It's $1 more than the low cost leader down the street, but at $15 bucks they do a very professional and thorough job. One thing I would warn fellow Yelpers of: They like to go after your hair with those 'thinning sheers' - scissors on one side, and a comb like thing on the other. I'm sure the people here are very nice but if you're looking for some level of professionalism in how they handle business, DON'T come here! This place might be good for people who don't care about wasting time but I called a few days in advance and made a hair appointment. I walk in for my noon appt and the 2 hairdressers have people in their seats....ok...maybe they'll be done in a few minutes. While I'm waiting for my turn both ladies take new people! Nearing half past the hour I just walked out as I had to be somewhere at 1pm. From other Yelp reviews I've read, there is a blatant disregard for many of the patrons. Maybe it takes being a regular to get good service or a stroke of luck but my guess is this place is $17 because that's the only reason people will bother stopping in. read more

I love this place. They are very accommodating if you are in a hurry to get in for an appt. I work in the neighborhood so it is very convenient to drop in for blowout. I'm so proud of what this place has been doing for the Marina community. I have been coming here for the past 15 years and never had a complaint about the quality of the haircut. I know that a lot of my friends in the neighborhood supports Cliff, the store owner, because he's been here for over 20 years! However, it's not just the number of the years that matter to me. Lisa is great ! She did a awesome blowout and price is very reasonable. My blow out place closed down on chestnut and I felt a little uncomfortable going into the place at first because I usually only go where woman get their hair done but Lisa is the best. Worst hair cut ever. I took my son for a hair cut and the woman cut it as if she was in a rush to go somewhere. People cut grass better than how she used shears on my son's hair. Maybe they have one or two experienced members in their staff but the one who cut my son's hair did a horrible job. Had to get someone else in the shop take over and that saved it. read more

Hi Cliff, I was a monthly returning customer for four years and got a good haircut for a good price. Thats why I was returning. You in person f****ed that up today. As you system is first sits - first got serviced I was in line today at 4:30pm. A Gentlemen sat down in the waiting area exactly 2 people later then me. Out of a sudden the next person was this Gentlemen - bit it should have been me, following your system. I politely brought that to your attention. Fist you ignored me, then after all the women talked to me, you said "I am sorry"... For what? Being a racist, being just dumb or loosing me indefinitely as a customer? Just do the math: You lose 6 x $20 a year = $120. I would probably be in the area for at least 20 more years, that equals $2,400.00+ Well, probably not a lot of money for you. Whats even worth: I will make it my personal profession to tell all my friends to tell all their friend what kind of service you provide... You should be ashamed, I feel very bad for your great employees. This is a recipe for disaster and I have no idea why you did what you did - hope its worth for you. read more

I'm that kind of guy who doesn't plan ahead for his haircut and likes to walk into spots when I'm feeling like I need a snip of the locks. After calling around to other salons for a half hour and none of them having any availability, I found this place, Simply Cuts. Not only was the owner Cliff a super nice guy but, you could tell how much he cares about his business and making sure people feel welcome when entering the store. Cliff and his co worker can turn out some haircuts quick! While I was there, they had 5 or 6 people and the majority of them were done in 15-20 minutes. This feels like the kind of regular neighborhood spot where some people come weekly to keep a clean looking head of hair. $20 bucks for a quick cut. Speedy service and a nice mom and pop vibe. I've been to this place a few times. It looked good when I was there, but when I got back home and looked again, on one side of my head the hair was longer than the other. I guess I should have learned the first time, but I went back again, and again, it was crooked. If you don't mid having uneven hair, it is a great place! Nice people, they take walk-ins, and there is not too long of a wait. UPDATE- Really....When am I going to learn????? I went back, I guess I should have read my review before going back again. I was desperate for a hair cut, and I was just going to get a simple trim. Yeah right! I asked for just an inch off and he cut off at least 3 inches. I asked him to trim the bangs (i WAS growing them out, but needed just a little cut off for the health of my hair), and he cut them all off and gave me new bangs! I AM NEVER GOING BACK! read more

Great quick service for a reasonable price. No frills but good quality haircut and only $20!

On the plus side, this place is cheap - less than $20 for a haircut - and convenient. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 15 minutes, even on the weekend with no appointment required. The major downside is the lack of consistency in the final product. I've had haircuts that range from decent to just plain awful, with an average result of mediocre. They seem to struggle with anything beyond the most basic hair styles, by which I mean anything with more than one length. That being said, If you're looking for a cleanup or a simple cut, then this is a viable option. Otherwise I'd steer clear. If you do give them a try, definitely go during off periods (weekdays) when they have more time to spend on each client, as you'll have much better odds of getting a good product. During weekends and other busy times they'll focus solely on getting you in and out as quickly as possible. One final note: they're often weird about paying with credit cards, so you may need to have cash on hand. read more

A very average haircut and average experience. For most of my self-sufficient life I looked for the cheapest haircut I could get away with. These ranged from $5 for some extremely awful haircuts to $25 for some decent and sometimes even impressive haircuts. THIS one in particular cost me $19+tip (yes, they raised their prices apparently). For the last few times, however I have been trying the $50+ salons, which have treated me well. For lack of time and interest in reserving a spot, I decided to go to the highest rated studio that allows walk-in customers near my house. I was greeted by three loud women, in a large, bright studio covered in hair (read: no sweeping). Waited for only 5 minutes... which was a good start. When I was seated in the chair with Nancy, I tried to explain to her how I like my hair cut, to which she uninterestedly cut me off with a sharp, "YES YES" as if she was a clairvoyant hair wizard. Long story short, Nancy the Wizard gave me the same old crew cut (too short, kind of lopsided and messy) that I would expect at any Supercuts or equivalent shop. Maybe next time I will stop being so lazy and get a spot at a better salon. read more

I popped in here as I was running errands on Chestnut. Let me first say the haircut was fine. Nothing spectacular, but fine. My issue was with the cleanliness off the establishment. First, I have never been to a place that doesn't sweep the hair off the ground between clients. Next, they do not clean the clippers or the scissors. And finally, and most disgustingly, there is a damp wet towel, that she used on God knows how many people before she used it to wipe my forehead. I will not return. read more
