As the price of men's haircuts varies widely I was curious as to what one would get for $14. First let me tell you what you WON'T get. You won't get a shampoo (let alone a second one after the cut), a head or neck massage or any sort of pampering. You WILL however leave the place covered in hair which will likely make you itchy. But maybe such things don't matter to you. Maybe all you really want to know about is the cut. The cut was decent. Maybe even slightly better than decent. On the cutting edge of style? No. Good enough to land you an invitation to dinner with a cute girl? Highly likely. read more

Great for kids! I'm over paying $40+ for fancy kid salons in SF. My daughter is not even four and only has had hair for about a third of her life - why pay $48 (with tip) to cut baby fine hair without even a wash?! We recently moved to the Marina and I walked past this place a few times and liked how welcoming it looked. Lots of Christmas cards from repeat customers and two friendly owners that have been there for 27 years! After a quick check on Yelp (awesome reviews!) we came for a walk-in appointment. My daughter was very comfortable on their booster seat and loved all the silly conversion from the stylist. They were gentle and happy to provide a simple bob. $20 is the perfect amount in my mind so we'll be making this place a regular spot! read more

I have a 1 year old boy who has a ton of hair and desperately needed a haircut (I loved the man bun look but he recently learned how to pull out the hair tie). We went here for his first haircut. Thank god we did. Thong is soooooo nice, and my kid was SCREAMING and he still gave him an amazing haircut, let us hold my kid while he was moving everywhere. At one point he even just let my kid walk around and just snipped off what was necessary. Multiple people have told me it's the best haircut they've seen on a kid- it's stylish, and sooooo cute. My husband also got an excellent haircut while we were here. It's not the type of place you will get pampered and have that salon like feel, but it's great and it gets the job done, for such a good price. read more

Just got my hair cut there today on my lunch break. Great cut, easily as good or better than any I've had. Fast, no nonsense and Thong is as nice a guy to talk to as anyone, and I don't really go in for a lot of chat when I get a haircut. He listened to what I asked for and delivered. For $16 bucks. lol! I've been coming here for years before the internet and before there was ever such a thing as YELP. Tom does a great job cutting my hair and I've always gotten a caesar cut! Maybe I should change my style? He used to work at Nordstroms as a hair stylist, I think. But if you want to buy other stuff such as conditioners, gels and shampoos, this is the place to go. PURE BEAUTY a few blocks down sells the same products for triple the price! I adore Cut n' Curl and still travel over an hour to have my hair cut and highlighted here! My hair comes past my shoulders and to have a full highlight and cut costs only $65. The salon is great when it comes to pricing very nice people, and the cut is great if you just need a trim. When it comes to styling you might need to think twice. I came to get a cut a simple medium length bob with full bangs. However, it didn't came close to how I wanted it. I even showed the picture multiple times and the lady kept cutting it side bangs. I was really unhappy and not satisfied with the service. Luckily, the guy helped me out to fix it a little bit, but still, it didn't came out the way I wanted it. After a year of expensive and mediocre haircuts in the city, a friend of mine recommended this place. I don't usually frequent the Marina, but I made the venture over and was so happy I did. I have been going here for over 4 years now. The price is cheap ($16) and both Thong and Hue treat your hair like they are creating a brilliant piece of art. Since receiving regular trims from Thong, my hair is the healthiest it's ever been. I typically go every six-to-eight weeks and will arrive once I have freshly washed, blow dry and straightened my hair myself. He'll give me a quick trim and I am all set! Cut 'n Curl is the best kept secret in SF--I can't believe this place has so few reviews. Thong is the nicest and did a fantastic job with my blonde highlights and trim. Thong cut my daughter's and wife's hair and they couldn't be happier. For $20 per haircut it's the best bargain in the city for the quality, location and customer service--especially in the Marina. Thong colors my hair for about 1/4 the cost of other salons, and he cuts my husband's and son's hair. You do NOT need an overpriced, cutesy kids hair salon when you have Thong - the Edward Scissorhands of a very quick and cute kids haircut. Just went here as a last minute option....Very surprised and pleased with the lady that cut my hair. She was attentive, careful, and candidly...very GOOD.
