I tried the Donair Poutine at Simply Donair Overall, everything was decent. The portion is definitely worth the price and the gravy and cheese were nice. The meat was a little dry/bland and the fries were pretty average though, so I'd rate it 6.5/10 read more

It is vitally important to have a favourite Donair place near your home, and Simply Donairs is now mine. I have actually eating here for better than a year and a half, and just tonight realised that I had not reviewed them. I love this place, and the nice people who run it. Service is superb and the donair is as good or better than any I have had in Edmonton. I regularly get the Donair Salad, and I vary it between beef and chicken, and love them both equally. I visit this location at least once a week, and have never been disappointed. If you are a fan of donair and donair related products, give these nice folks a try. It is worth the trip. read more

The lady working at the front assumed my friends religion and race and told him he shouldn't be eating food because it's ramadan. First of all, you shouldn't ever assume a persons race or religion, secondly, what is it of her business. I usually love their food and we won't be back. Thats completely unacceptable. read more

Simply used to be the best donair shop in Edmonton! But the portion size has gone down considerably and when my wife ordered chicken stripes all she got was a "chicken" burger cut into stripes. Hard to believe that our once favourite cheat meal stop is no longer worth our time. read more

Well damn. That...was really good! I've been a Simon King purest for my entire adult life. Indeed...they are fantastic! But simply put. Simply Donairs... Simply awesome! Was in the neighbourhood and noticed that they have great reviews. Decided to put it to the test and expand my horizons. Very clean, bright and modern decor. Really nice for such a place. Friendly staff. And when it comes to what matters most...a Donair that certainly gives the competition a run for their money! Fresh pita, veggies, and a delicious sweet sauce topped my Regular donair. Meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly! My eyes have been openned. Count on me being back! Update - April 2017 Not as good as the first time... Not enough sauce. Great meat. Either they messed up...or their garlic sauce is Taziki. Still good...but not as amazing as I recall. No one goes into a donair shop expecting their food to be a tidy packaged deal, mess is expected BUT within reason. See, simply donair has three sizes of donair: small, medium, large - this would suggest to me that they have multiple donair sizes, like various sizes of pita. I ordered a small beef donair with all the veggies, tzatziki sauce and sweet sauce, and cheese. DELICIOUS. Loved those juicy cuts of beef and all the tasty toppings and it was definitely good value with the heaping portion... but the donair was so full the pita could barely close. Now, I know that there's some experience value in devouring a heaping donair and it's an awful mess and that is beautiful. But I ordered a small. Like I'm going for delicious taste but I'm not looking to make a meaty mess of my surroundings while eating. And I did manage to get grease and sauce on the table despite trying to contain it in the wrapper. What I'm trying to say I that I would have had so much more enjoyment if they could have used the same quantity of filling for a small but used a larger pita to better contain it. I just wanted a casual donair - I'm not trying to prove that I'm the mega-messy-mighty-meaty donair master over here trying to increase my blood cholesterol to the danger zone, leaving behind a sauce-splosion disaster scene in my wake. No, I just wanted a small donair and I would really like my pita to contain the contents. I have been to two locations of Simply Donair. The St. Albert one is great too. Their donair anything is my favourite in the city. I always get a small donair. The small is pretty big, it is similar to most regular size donairs from other places. Fries always are made to order. But the donair salad is my new favourite. All the things I love about donairs in a "convenient" tray to eat. It is much less messy, but just as delicious. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, with optional olives and banana peppers. A never ending supply of donair meat drowning, in a good way, in sweet sauce. I have never had a bad meal here, just big, delicious ones. read more

The chicken donair is the worst I have had. 6 months ago when I first moved here they were awesome... But now it's all thigh meat. They miss a lot of skin and fat. I thought this might be a fluke but sadly it wasnt. I went there for the first time in a few months hoping it would be back to there good old ways but no.... Best donairs in town! Great when your drunk, sober or hungover! Huge portion sizes and toppings are always over flowing. I have argued many times with many people about how "simply" truly is the best donair spot in town - many of my friends agree and have even converted Best part about it, is that it's a clean, sanitary establishment that takes pride in their service and food. 10/10 recommend! read more

Solid food. The donair meat was the highlight. Sliced by hand, moist and flavourful. Perhaps a little too chopped up while fried for my liking but the taste was unchanged. The sweet sauce was tasty. They had a good assortment of vegetables including canned mushrooms which were better than I thought they would be. I observed that if you were ordering a burger they would fry the onions and mushrooms for you if you wanted. Nice touch. I would come back if in the area. read more

I thought Id stop in here for lunch as my coworker could not stop raving about how these were "best donairs in the city" Meh Id hardly call them "the best" but I will say that they're the biggest I've seen in the city. One thing I found kind of gross though was how greasy the meat was... When I got to the bottom of the donair all the grease had solidified and become and orange paste... So the last few bites ended up in the trash lol. I will say however the staff were very nice, and the dining room was exceptionally clean. Plus it looked very classy! This is one of my favourite donair places ever. The food is fresh. The meat is all done up there. The staff are super pleasant. The location can be quite busy. But in off hours it can be quiet. Very good donairs and very clean. Workers washed their hands everytime after touching cash register. They had a line of of plastic gloves lined up for each new donair they made. A small donair sells for around $8.00 with cheese extra. They are generous with their meat and toppings unlike many donair dives. They charge extra for cheese. There is plenty of seating and modern. The staff are friendly. It can be a little slower at times as there is often only 2 people working but its usually worth the wait. read more

This place has the best donairs. Period. I love that they freshly cut off and not shave the meat. Then they grill it so that it's much less greasy. And they are never stingy with the sauce. They will even give you extra sauce on the side if you ask! Oh, the donair poutine is the best! Or if you don't want the extra carbs go for the donair salad. Fantastic! Really good donairs ... BRUTALLY SLOW SERVICE !! I have had this issue many times before, and is the reason why I only go once a month instead of weekly !! I have mentioned it before to the owner in a friendly way .... I get an argument about how I am wrong and it did not take that long !! Tonight I timed it !! One guy at the counter already had ordered and was waiting for his food, next guy was just ordering when I walked in, 17 minutes to get my food and argument to go along with it !! The two guys cooking could not organize two order receipts by this time, and took them 2 or 3 minutes just to figure out I really was not lying, and I was next in line !!! 4 stars for the great service the guy making my food gave me. It might have just been because I was there late at night. I asked him if he could fry the donair meat and make it crispy, and boy was it crispy . it took a little longer to make,but it was worth it. Donair shop on SE side of Edmonton. Large seating area. Even the small donairs are huge and too much to eat. I had the burps all afternoon. You can choose your toppings. Too much meat I dare say, no room for veggies. Still a good buy for the price. Staff very clean with food handling. Cheese is extra. The food ordering is a little mixed up because after you pick your toppings you have to go backward in the lineup to pick up your order. Now you can get fries with your donair... my my times changed, you can probably get fries with curry now too! I was wanting to check out another donair place but it was closed on Sundays, so we ended up here. Nice, clean open space not cluttered with posters or lights, just clean. The service was great and friendly. I ordered the beef salad, wife and kids split a donair, cheeseburgers, poutine and fries. Salad was ok, I like my donair meat abit spicier, not much for selections to add, pickles, olives, banana peppers and/or canned mushrooms. The sweet sauce was good. Donair was about the same as to be expected. Poutine had grated cheese, I not a big fan of poutines but if I have one I want the cheese in chunks, not grated. Fries were cooked to order so no cold fries. If I'm ever in the area again and I'm hungry I'll stop in but I won't go out of my way to go there read more

Was getting training from my Union and only had 30 min for lunch so we drove in a hurry to this location. I had regular donair no cheese sweet and garlic sauce and onion rings and my husband had the regular donair with sweet sauce and no lettuce. Our donair were really good! He was done after 3/4 of his donair. I ate all mine, my onion rings and the few pieces of meat left in his donair. They Are juicy and plenty full . Really liked it read more

Place has recently changed hands (2019) and the quality has dramatically declined. It used to be a full 5 star but one certain owner is a horrible cook and the meat is now rubbery. Sorry guys but I'll Look elsewhere for my donairs. read more
