The dining room is dim with spotlights - moody and cozy, but not ideal lighting for pics. They have an extensive martini list AND a mocktini list! I went with the Blood Orange Mocktini, rainbow sugar rim, orange garnish, super refreshing. So yums! I was on a mission for classic melted cheese, so I ordered the Italian Fontina fondue, which they make right at your table. Fontina and Romano with garlic, basil pesto, and marinara - all my favorite things in one pot! It comes with bread, fruit, and veggies for dipping. Came to Simply Fondue for an early Valentine's Day celebration. Located in downtown Livermore, Simply Fondue is well... simply fondue! Cheese, chocolate, even meat fondue is available for enjoyment. I was initially intrigued by the Fondue Feast, although I still don't 100% understand how it works. Is only the meat portion AYCE? It's also pretty pricey at around $77 per person. I did the mental math to find we would not be able to eat enough to justify the cost that night. The inside is very romantic: dark, dim lights and private booths. It's also kind of loud too. We ended up ordering: Cobb salad - split for 2 - this was tasty but we wished we ordered separate salads because the split was kind of small for us. Spicy pepper jack cheese fondue for 2 - this was A LOT of cheese and we realized we were already getting full. The cheese is spicy-fied using hot sauce (I think Frank's?) I thought it was going to use pepper jack cheese. At least you get to modify the amount of spice used. So we kept it pretty mild for the sake of SO's spice tolerance. Snickerfondoodle chocolate fondue for 1 - the taste of this fondue is reminiscent of a cinnamon roll or horchata with the white chocolate and cinnamon. It went really well with the dipping items (bananas, strawberries, funnel cake sticks, rice krispies, etc.). The service was great. Our questions were answered regarding the portion sizes, and our waters always refilled. It was a good experience as this was our first, but there were a few hiccups. Salad - seems a bit smaller than normal salad starter serving. It looked more like a side salad that should've been free. Cheese Fondue - We got the Italian Fontina and Spicy Pepper Jack. Both were good! The meat entreés - We got Korean Korean Style Beef, Spicy Pepper Beef and Lemon Pepper Chicken. They were just ok. None had the wow factor like we get at KBBQs. Butternut Squash Ravioli - This was a bad choice. We just didnt like it. I was part of a party of nine, for a Birthday dinner. We were seated at a booth in a room. The booth was a bit crowded, so if you are going with a larger party, ask for a table. We started with a really good salad, and from there we were served 2 different cheeses in the crock with different breads and veggies. It was delicious. After that we had meats and a few veggies that we put into hot oil and a cast iron skillet. Next, the cheese fondues -- we had the Whiskey Cheddar and Italian Fontina. The breads were not warm and the quality of raw veggies seemed extremely mediocre. For the entrees, (I tried the Korean Beef, Six Pepper Beef, & Garlic Chicken) the proteins were seasoned heavily and very salty. Sauces were all salty too. The only one I would recommend was the Korean beef. The pieces of meat were cut thick so cooking times were long -- I would've preferred more pieces sliced thinner. The chocolates were fun, the server lit the chocolates so we could flambé our marshmallows. Other than that the dessert plate felt cold and stale. We all only did one round of each so maybe the a la carte would have been a better option. I think this place would better accommodate small parties of 2 or 4. At 6 people we were constantly reaching across each other's plates to get to the other fondue pot across the table. It became such a hassle that you were pretty much committed to the flavor that ended up being placed in front of you. Finally, the cocktails. A few people at the table ordered cocktails and none of them had a garnish, rim, or anything! At $17+ per drink I expected it to at least have a little something. The drink was not good either. I've been here twice but I honestly should only have been once. The first time, I was excited because I had never tried fondue. First of all, just get the fondue. Don't do the entree - it wasn't worth it. The cheese fondue was pretty alright but I felt like it was very mid. I went back the second time because they had a vegan option and my cousin is vegan so we wanted to try it out. It wasn't very good and although the waitress claimed the dessert had vegan options, the things to dip in the chocolate wasn't very vegan friendly - so she either didn't know the menu well or doesn't know what vegan means. My wife and I recently went here to celebrate our friends wedding anniversary and this place was another gem in downtown Livermore to hit up if you're in the area and looking to have fondue. We got the Fondue Feast which starts with your choice of a salad (5 different options to choose from), then a cheese (6 options) for bread and veggie dipping, entree (4 different styles but 15 varieties of meats and non-meats), followed by a desert chocolate fondue (13+ varieties). I had the Gorgonzola, my wife had the Cobb salad and they were both great. We tried the loaded whisky cheddar and the traditional Swiss cheese fondues and liked them as well. We tried the grill and roasted garlic (bouillon) styles and my only complaint was the grill size was a bit small and the meat portions were a bit thick so it took awhile to get everything cooked. For chocolates we tried the everything but the kitchen sink and the caramel heath crunch. We all agreed the kitchen sink is the way to go as long as you don't have a peanut / nut allergy. We dined at Simply Fondue for a friend's birthday, and there were eight of us. First - the drinks are amazing! I had a pineapple champs type beverage. The bartender did a great job. We were seated in a large round booth in the back, which also included two chairs at the open part of the round booth. I never expected that this dining experience would take four hours! The server was slow to attend to us and there was a long wait in between courses, even when she would check on us to see if we needed anything. The salads were amazing, as was the cheese fondue. When it came time for the Entree, it is really hard to do with eight people. Our table ordered one frying pan and one pot of cooking oil. The way the burners are set up on the table, it was hard to reach the oil pot from one side of the table, and the server rushed through instructions on how to cook our Entree. I had to ask her a couple of times to repeat what she said. It would be super helpful to have cards on the table, to explain how to cook them meat. The chocolate fondue at the end was the bomb! If we ever come back to this place, it will definitely be just the two of us, and we would only order cheese and chocolate fondue. Twenty minutes later, our waiter came, and explained that there was a slight miscommunication and felt awful. We acknowledged it and asked for menu recommendations. The manager came by a few minutes later to apologize for the mishap, which we totally appreciated. We settled for the whiskey cheddar fondue, which came with an assortment of bread and raw vegetables. It was really good. We wanted some protein of course, so we got the roasted garlic chicken, six pepper beef, and the tequila lime mahi mahi. It came with six different sauces, which included yogurt curry, chimichurri, honey mustard, teriyaki, bbq, and dill. I found the beef kinda salty and downed a whole bunch of water afterwards. For dessert, we got the campfire special and raspberry chocolate. It came with a lot of fruit and giant marshmallows we used for dipping. This was really enjoyable and delicious! Simply Fondue serves a whole lot more than just fondue but if fondue is what you're craving for, you should simply order fondue. Otherwise, your stomach will not have room for what you came for! In the name, you've guessed it! Fondue is the spotlight. That includes cheese and chocolate fondue. But what you don't know without looking at the menu is that they also serve delicious salads and meat and vegetable options to be cooked on the grill at your table. And if you're really hungry, you may even consider the Fondue Feast, an all you can eat meal where you simply continue requesting meats and vegetables from the menu to be cooked at your table. To clarify, it's just the grill items that are endless, not the cheese nor the chocolate. Yes, bummer, but we found that the cheese and chocolate portions were plenty enough for two to share. And if you do get the feast on Sunday or Wednesday, kids under 12 will eat free (although it seemed there is some high turnover during the summer so we had to confirm with the server and manager to be sure the deal was still valid). Alongside their family fondue Sundays and wildcard Wednesdays, they have daily specials posted on their website. As fondue isn't cheap, these discounts definitely make a difference! We came here on a Sunday and was able to take advantage of their fondue feast special. Perusing the menu, we were able to select the cheese fondue (there are a few variations to choose from but we ended up taking our server's recommendation and ordered the traditional Swiss chalet), salads, and grill items. What was surprising is that they cook the cheese fondue in front of you and serve you a platter of vegetables and bread to be dipped in your cheese. Take your time with the cheese but don't take too long or else your dinner service may end up taking a while as they don't serve the next course until you're completely done. The grill entree items (mainly the meats for me) were overwhelmingly filling but extremely flavorful. There is a variety of meats to choose from but do pace yourself. We primarily ordered the beef and pork items and each morsel was succulent to bite through. They cooked relatively quickly and also filled our stomached relatively quickly. After you're through with the entree dishes, be ready to be say goodbye to protein and say hello to dessert. In comes the pot of chocolate (you can pick the flavor/blend) with a platter of fruits, marshmallows, and baked goods. Prior to dipping the chocolate, they'll light up some alcohol to allow you to roast your marshmallows. Take care as to not burn them! You've made it through the whole service and you'll be stuffed! Being located in downtown, take a nice stroll down to the fountain and burn off some of those heavy calories. Parking is on the street but if you are willing to walk a block or two, you'll find plenty of spots. It does get busy during peak times but evenings are typically quiet. Overall, Simply Fondue does fondue really well and the staff provide a great dining experience. The quality of the meats are decent and with the specials, the meal does seem fairly priced and if not, just slightly higher than other sit downs. Looking up online, I found this place relatively nearby and wanted to give it a shot. I made a reservation online, so it was rather simple for us to be seated right away. Parking is abysmal though, so I recommend parking in the nearby parking structure and walking over. Once seated, we looked over the menu and chose the Fondue Feast, to be able to experience the entire experience of a fondue here. Our server was very helpful and explained to us how everything works here. Once that was settled, we chose our options and waited for our meal. Gorgonzola Field Greens: A simple salad that was flavorful and packed a lot of greens. The sauce was delicate and acidic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it as a starter. Whiskey Bourbon Cheddar: My boyfriend decided on this cheese and it was very flavorful and pungent, even for a cheddar. The assorted vegetables and breads were a nice dipper to taste the cheese. It was gooey and the bacon helped bring a lot of the saltiness to my palette. Overall, the cheese I say was pleasant. Fondue Grill: Now this was not something I expected. Back at the other fondue place, we dipped the meat into our cheese, but here, we were cooking it like Korean bbq. It was a bit of a surprise when it came to us, but I enjoyed cooking, so we threw a few pieces of our meats into the grill and continued cooking. For an overall flavor experience, I really loved the chicken and the beef, especially the lemon pepper chicken. That one was the most flavorful and I recommend that one. The seafood was nothing special to me. Dark Raspberry: This was a very rich and smooth fondue. Starting with a fire is a lot of fun for our campfire marshmallows. The fruits and rice crispy treats were also great to dip. Honestly, the dessert was my favorite part of this entire meal. My family comes once a year to celebrate a birthday and we enjoy the experience a lot, despite the prices that seem to keep going up every time we visit. We started with a classic caesar, which was good. For the cheese fondues we got 3 servings of the traditional swiss chalet and 3 of the loaded whiskey cheddar, for the 4 of us. They make the cheese fondues in front of you at your table and give you a bowl of breads and a bowl of fruits and veggies. It was our first time getting the swiss chalet and the whiskey cheddar is a favorite, but it turns out we were split 2 and 2 on the cheese we liked the most. The swiss chalet had a more mild flavor compared to the cheddar, but the cheddar also had the added bacon and chives. We then opted for the fondue grill for our entree cooking style and got the Korean style beef, bacon wrapped beef, six pepper beef, roasted garlic chicken, and the smoked mozzarella ravioli. Our favorites were the bacon wrapped beef and the roasted garlic chicken. We weren't huge fans of the ravioli, it got crispy on the grill, but wasn't quite hitting the mark for us compared to the meats. They also have a some veggies to roast. The other two meats were alright, the Korean beef was a bit sweet and the six pepper beef didn't have a ton of flavor. (Not part of this visit, but from another time: we got the campfire milk chocolate fondue for dessert. I love the roasting marshmallow part. It comes with a side of assorted desserts to dip into the chocolate and we really liked it to finish off our meal.) Our waitress was super attentive and gave us a refresher on the menu when we told her we hadn't been in a while. She gave us lots of herbed butter, which was helpful to keep the smoking down on the grill. Since we had a birthday, she brought out a birthday drink with a candle. We appreciated that she asked whether we wanted it alcoholic or non alcoholic, I feel like it never hurts to ask. Overall we really enjoy the fondue experience and cooking on the grill. I recommend coming if you've never had it before, but beware of the prices and that you may not be full in the end depending on how much you end up ordering. The cheese portions are fairly small, despite the unlimited bread/fruits and veggies. We enjoyed the fondue part more than the entree part. My wife & I came in for our wedding anniversary. We let our waiter (Ashish) know it was our first time in a Fondue restaurant to which he went above and beyond to make sure our first time / wedding anniversary was a great night! This place is awesome! The food is really good and the service has been great! The martini tastings are a plus! A bit pricey!

Our go-to fondue place when family is in town. Service and food is great. They have tables that fit our large party of 8. The atmosphere is darker and makes you feel more intimate and separated from others. Parking can be a pain because it's downtown. I'd suggest making a reservation. I'm not sure if they even take walk-ins. It does get a bit pricey, but we have never been disappointed when we come. Their chimichurri is our favorite. read more

Simply Fondue was so yummy! I tried this restaurant for the first time today and I am looking forward to returning. I typically dine at the Matterhorn Restaurant in San Francisco for fondue, but they now charge $45.00 per person. So, I couldn't believe that Simply Fondue only charges $17.00 per person. The portions are smaller, but perfect for a solo diner such as myself. Anyway, I ordered the Swiss Chalet for the main course followed by the Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate fondue for dessert. They were both so delicious. The server was great and refilled my dessert tray. However, there was plenty of bread and vegetables for the cheese fondue. Really good beer! I am a fan of hazy sand theirs comes through. They did a great job in their "industrial space" giving us a place to sit and visit. TVs for sports and truck for food. (Albeit over priced the trucks have been pretty high quality food). read more
