    Cobb salad split
    Leslie Q.

Came to Simply Fondue for an early Valentine's Day celebration. Located in downtown Livermore, Simply Fondue is well... simply fondue! Cheese, chocolate, even meat fondue is available for enjoyment. I was initially intrigued by the Fondue Feast, although I still don't 100% understand how it works. Is only the meat portion AYCE? It's also pretty pricey at around $77 per person. I did the mental math to find we would not be able to eat enough to justify the cost that night. The inside is very romantic: dark, dim lights and private booths. It's also kind of loud too. We ended up ordering: Cobb salad - split for 2 - this was tasty but we wished we ordered separate salads because the split was kind of small for us. Spicy pepper jack cheese fondue for 2 - this was A LOT of cheese and we realized we were already getting full. The cheese is spicy-fied using hot sauce (I think Frank's?) I thought it was going to use pepper jack cheese. At least you get to modify the amount of spice used. So we kept it pretty mild for the sake of SO's spice tolerance. Snickerfondoodle chocolate fondue for 1 - the taste of this fondue is reminiscent of a cinnamon roll or horchata with the white chocolate and cinnamon. It went really well with the dipping items (bananas, strawberries, funnel cake sticks, rice krispies, etc.). The service was great. Our questions were answered regarding the portion sizes, and our waters always refilled. Overall, it was a special occasion meal and I wouldn't mind returning on a well-empty stomach to try their Fondue Feast one day!

It was a good experience as this was our first, but there were a few hiccups. Salad - seems a bit smaller than normal salad starter serving. It looked more like a side salad that should've been free. Cheese Fondue - We got the Italian Fontina and Spicy Pepper Jack. Both were good! The meat entreés - We got Korean Korean Style Beef, Spicy Pepper Beef and Lemon Pepper Chicken. They were just ok. None had the wow factor like we get at KBBQs. Butternut Squash Ravioli - This was a bad choice. We just didnt like it. Not sure if it's because we heated them over the pan with butter and rosemary along with the meats or they just didnt taste good. Sesame Ahi Tuna - It was good but would've been better if soy sauce was available. Cast Iron Grill - Not really liking this experience for an actual dinner for 4. The pan is just too small for 4 people. There were long waits in between bites. Chocolate Fondue (Chocolate Confusion) - Good but I think we chose the wrong one or our fault our table couldn't decide between white chocolate and milk chocolate while we definitely didnt want two separate fondues. Service 5/5 - our server was great. He offered good recommendations and was really attentive and helpful. Seating- The chairs were dated, worn out and uncomfortable. Overall - Still ok for a first visit. Amidst mishaps, we're glad to have tried. But no, I'm not coming back for a dinner again.

We always, always, always have a great experience here. Danielle is usually our server in the bar area. We absolutely love her. Flights are always a good choice to try 6 martinis. Pepper Jack is our favorite cheese choice for over 10 years.

My favorite restaurant ever!!!! Absolutely loved the moody lighting and the calm atmosphere. Took my girlfriend here and she loved it! I'd recommend for amazing service and a nice date night environment.

We came on a Wednesday so we got to choose which daily special to partake. We chose the Tuesday special, for a bundle of salad, cheese fondue, and chocolate fondue. Mine were strawberry/spinach salad, Swiss fondue, and raspberry dark chocolate fondue. Overall a really great meal with good service too. The salads are a good size and pretty filling on their own. By the time dessert rolled around we were both full! We asked for additional fruit with dessert.

Wonderful experience! It's super fun. Wish the cheese fondue had richer flavor, and I'd prob skip the entrees next time. The potstickers/dumplings were so good! Tune, so so . Our server Isabella was the best ever!! So sweet, attentive , and accommodating with our large group. She made the night super awesome with her good vibes. Cheers!

Simply Fondue is incredible. Absolutely one of our favorite places to splurge and eat like kings. I highly recommend ordering the feast if you are with 2-4 people. Pretty much all you can eat, amazing food. The quality of the food is par none and you leave completely stuffed. The cheese is insanely good and the chocolate is insane as well. The staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, and well trained. The seating is great, great lighting, and perfect temp inside. We generally go to Simply Fondue about twice per year and it never lets us down. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

This is the cheese fondue. One is pepper jack and the other is the beer bacon cheddar. Both were Really good

I was part of a party of nine, for a Birthday dinner. We were seated at a booth in a room. The booth was a bit crowded, so if you are going with a larger party, ask for a table. We started with a really good salad, and from there we were served 2 different cheeses in the crock with different breads and veggies. It was delicious. After that we had meats and a few veggies that we put into hot oil and a cast iron skillet. That part was difficult with a larger party and if I did it again, I would skip the meat and just do the cheese and move onto the absolutely amazing chocolate fondue! Now that's the best part! Omg! So good! Even if you just go in for the chocolate fondue and cocktails, you won't be disappointed.

Cheese Fondue -- Italian Fontina & Loaded Whiskey Cheddar

We came here as a party of 6 on a Sunday evening and ordered the Fondue Feast. At $77 per person I was honestly pretty disappointed. I felt like each course was lackluster. We were sat way in the back and service was extremely sparse. Starting with the salads, they were very standard and nothing to write home about. Wouldn't have ordered if we didn't do the AYCE. Next, the cheese fondues -- we had the Whiskey Cheddar and Italian Fontina. The breads were not warm and the quality of raw veggies seemed extremely mediocre. For the entrees, (I tried the Korean Beef, Six Pepper Beef, & Garlic Chicken) the proteins were seasoned heavily and very salty. Sauces were all salty too. The only one I would recommend was the Korean beef. The pieces of meat were cut thick so cooking times were long -- I would've preferred more pieces sliced thinner. The chocolates were fun, the server lit the chocolates so we could flambé our marshmallows. Other than that the dessert plate felt cold and stale. We all only did one round of each so maybe the a la carte would have been a better option. I think this place would better accommodate small parties of 2 or 4. At 6 people we were constantly reaching across each other's plates to get to the other fondue pot across the table. It became such a hassle that you were pretty much committed to the flavor that ended up being placed in front of you. Finally, the cocktails. A few people at the table ordered cocktails and none of them had a garnish, rim, or anything! At $17+ per drink I expected it to at least have a little something. The drink was not good either. The bill ended up being $600+. Maybe I will try it again further down the line, but in its current state it is not worth the price tag.

An exquisite four-course Valentine's Day experience at Simply Fondue with Kale, our fine dining server. Each course was thoughtfully curated and beautifully presented, culminating in a dessert so divine that we reserved the very same restaurant and server for my daughter's 17th birthday dinner next month before we'd even finished the final bite! The cuisine was nothing short of phenomenal, and the warmth, poise, and impeccable execution by the entire team elevated the evening into a truly memorable celebration. We sincerely enjoyed the special all inclusive menu for Valentine's Day! Thank you to Simply Fondue!

Had drinks in the bar for my birthday. They have an extensive martini menus. The bartender was Joey. He was amazing. I ordered a peanut butter cup martini. Delicious. Also had an espresso martini. Both drinks were the best I've ever had. Joey then brought me a birthday martini. With a candle. My friends sang happy birthday. Really nice atmosphere and services. I highly recommend this place for a celebration.

    Delicious and fun fondue meal.

Ask the Community - Simply Fondue

Can you accommodate party of 11?

No, our largest table seats 8 guests

March 2022 - is corkage on 1st bottle of Livermore wine still waived?

Yes it is. Any bottle after that is $15.

Any chance you can do individual fondue to reduce Covid risk?

Yes, we ordered individual fondue to go!! It was delicious!

Hi i am wondering do i have to reserve before coming?

They are not required but they are definitely recommended. Having a reservation guarantees you a table.

Can you order the appetizers at the tables or is it only on the patio/lounge?

Our appetizer menu is only offered on the patio and lounge. We like our dining room to be specifically the fondue style dining.

Are they open for dine-in right now?

    In the outdoor patio, yes.

Do you have any vegetarian no onion no garlic no egg options?

Yes, we offer vegan options for all four courses and also offer options that do not contain onion or garlic. You can call the restaurant and speak to a manager if you would like to know exactly what you can have or if you have any questions.

Do they charge a 1 year old for the fondue set? Asking because the menu says children 12 and under…

Is this a serious question..? Of course they do not. Common sense goes a long way though, and the business will make accommodations for most anything.

Is the bar open seating/first come first serve like most restaurants or do I have to make a reservation to pop in at the bar?

Yes, the bar is open seating/ first come first serve from my experience.

Is it possible to only go in for chocolate fondue?

Yes. Some nights they have a special for just chocolate fondue, and normally it's about $10 per person to do just chocolate fondue.

So they charge full price for children under 12 for dessert?

I think they do charge full price. I know they also have special hours / days for dessert only that is reasonable.

You can choose between bar seating or a table--we went with a table. The space is cute, modern, and has a great vibe. One thing I really appreciated is that all the sashimi dishes came pre-seasoned with thoughtful sauces and toppings. We didn't even need soy sauce or ginger--everything was already balanced and flavorful. Oysters (3.5/5) Solid. Fresh and clean, and great value for a dozen. We added "the works" for $3, which came with extra sauces--definitely worth it and added a nice variety of flavors. Uni Toast (4/5) Really good. Served on a crispy ube toast with great presentation. Definitely on the pricier side, but expected for good uni. Worth trying if you're into uni. Tuna Crudo (4.5/5) Really enjoyed this. Flavor was good, but the crispy bread was a highlight for me. Some might think it's too crispy, but I loved the texture. The wagyu juices tied everything together nicely. DIY Handrolls (4/5) Fun concept--comes with mini sheets of seaweed, rice, and hamachi so you can build your own. The fish tasted fresh and high-quality. The only downside is I wish they gave more seaweed. Cured Chirashi Don (4.5/5) The sushi rice was honestly one of the most flavorful I've had--very pronounced vinegar taste (in a good way). The fish was fresh and of high quality. Definitely a standout. Overall, this place leans on the pricier side since it's small plates/tapas style--we ended up ordering around 7-8 dishes to feel full. That said, the flavors are unique and I liked how some of the fish was lightly seared, adding a nice aroma and texture. Service was solid--our server checked in regularly. They also brought out cookies and milk for my birthday, which was a nice touch (not free--$8--but still worth it). Would come back to try more dishes

Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. It's very charming yet fancy at the same time. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. To be fair, it was a slow Monday and there was plenty of seating. We opted to sit outside due to the nice weather. They brought us waters and bread to get started which I appreciated. For drinks, my wife went with the Cab and I chose an old fashioned. Will definitely be doing a birthday or two here in the near future.

Tried a few Greek wines, and had the lobster pasta, with what I recall as bucatini (could be wrong). It was beautiful and delicious as expected. Popped out of the shell display and sliced it up for a wonderful dinner with coworkers. Colors reminiscent of Greek isles, with the blues and white, plus owls and eye painted decor. It felt casual but professional. Quieter on a Wednesday, but a nice stop for that Mediterranean fix with a bit of class. Enjoy.
