The food, service and ambiance were excellent. Food was amazing. Our waitress was very familiar with the menu. Can't wait to go back!

This little mom and pop shop, located in Sarnia, blew up on social media on Facebook and Instagram…read morewith their Ice Cream Burrito. What the Ice Cream Burrito is, is 3 scoops of your choice of Ice cream rolled onto a layer of flattened cotton candy becoming the Ice Cream Burrito. This review will speak solely on the experience itself and the Ice Cream Burrito The atmosphere of the shop is, like I said before, is a mom-&-pop Ice Cream store. This local business has picnic benches inside and outside the store with a 6 seater lawn chair on the outside as well for people to sit on. Also Sugar Sugar also sells a limited selection of candies other than Ice Cream at the store. Now the Ice Cream Burrito itself. When ordering the Ice Cream Burrito, you have a choice to choose between the color pink or blue for the cotton candy and also a choice of 3 Ice Cream scoops of your choosing to wrapped in the burrito. The Ice Cream flavors that I chose were Bubble Gum, Super Hero and Cotton Candy (I know Cotton Candy on Cotton Candy). Before the burrito is wrapped, they sprinkle "unicorn dust" which are really just colorful sugar crystal sprinkles. The price tag on this baby is $6.22 tax already included Personally, I liked the Ice Cream Burrito. It was a new experience for me, especially biting into an instant combination of cotton candy and Ice cream. My girlfriend, who came with me, didn't like the "unicorn dust" but I actually loved it because of having something crunchy and sugary to bite on. As you eat the burrito (which is cut in half) you start to get into your different flavor of Ice Cream. Tips: Know that if you want to take a nice picture with your Ice Cream Burrito, choose your Ice Cream flavors wisely because staff will cut the burrito in half where the showcased Ice Cream will be the on in the middle. For my Picture, it was the Super Hero Ice Cream. Also note that if you press too hard on the burrito, the Cotton Candy will disintegrate in the Ice Cream. I left finger prints down to the Ice Cream on my Burrito, I have a strong Grip heheh. Although for people in the GTA (like myself), this location is a road trip, between 2-3 hour drive, we tried this place out because we were at the Grand Bend Beach (which is about an extra hour away) and thought that we might as well check it out. Overall, It was a great experience, staff was incredibly kind and not shy on you recording your Burrito being wrapped. I personally wouldn't come back just for the Ice Cream because of distance but if I'm ever at Grand Bend and have friends that want to try it out, I would gladly come and take another visit.

So we came to check them out because of this famed ice cream burrito. To be honest I'm not a cotton…read morecandy fan but my friend really wanted it, so we went. I just got a regular ice cream cone. It's definitely good ice cream at a low cost. I am told the ice cream burrito is definitely great, a lot of sugar for once person so you may want to share. But overall great experience, good service, fair prices definitely would recommend if for no other reason than to give your friend a sugar high!

I spent most of my life in Sarnia. Moved to Toronto some time ago. My folks, still in Sarnia, have…read morebeen regulars at Coffee Lodge for years, as have many other people. Great selection, great service, and staff turnover is low and seems mostly to happen when young staffers head off to University or College. Over a decade ago, the Coffee Lodge brought big-city java joint class to a blue-collar town stuck in the rut of Tim Hortons and other donut shops. It was only last year that Sarnia got its first Starbucks. This lack of diversity found in larger cities allowed the owner of Coffee Lodge to carve out quite a niche for himself, and eventually expand to multiple locations. The key, whether locals will admit it or not, is the design of the place. Lots of wood finishes and shelving, chalkboards, low lighting, comfortable furniture (except at the Lambton Mall location, which is just a take-out place) and accents to match. A logo that looks like it was created by an actual marketing agency and not the owner's kid in Microsoft Paint. The menu boards are equally professionally crafted and accessible, the product names reflecting serious thought to make them catchy. They also have a line of branded products, just like the big boys. Granted, were they located in a larger city, their menu might be larger, or have more items rotating in and out of it, but for a city the size of Sarnia, with an aging population, it's all good. The only concern I now have for their existence is the new food court that has been built in Lambton Mall. So far, the tenants there are fast food joints, and The Coffee Lodge's very design doesn't lend itself to being nothing more than a counter with a hidden kitchen. Tim Hortons, however, has successfully embedded shops in many food courts here in Toronto, albeit by being more open-concept than their neighbours, thus retaining the feel of their higher-end stores. Coffee Lodge could probably do this in the Mall food court, too, provided the mall management gives them some leeway. Considering the unfortunate fact that Lambton Mall is bleeding retailers at the moment (goodbye Roots, goodbye Sunrise, etc.), they should be amenable to any ideas put forth by those who are remaining onboard. It'd be a shame to see Tim's nab a spot in that food court. Hopefully the mall management has the best interests of current tenants in mind. The big reno they're currently undergoing at Lambton Mall is long overdue. It was a necessity here in Toronto for malls like Fairview and Markville--both now premium destination malls--and it was only a matter of time before the need became pressing in Sarnia. The food court and H&M are hopefully signs of a brighter future, but having coffee lodge force its customers to sit at outdated former food court tables and chairs, with a constant stream of noisy shoppers passing on either side, just isn't right. Hopefully plans are afoot to rectify this situation, because the Lodge is a strong component of the mall, and it needs a relocation.
