i visited hutchinson farms in scarsdale on a saturday morning and glad i did. they carry an…read moreextensive selection of fruits , veggies , organic foods , spreads, soups, bean dips, nuts, sauces , spices. fruit and veggie trays and much more indeed.yes you will pay a little more but the quality and freshness is well worth it. the folks who run this place really do a great job in displaying the produce so you can see everything thats available. what was suppose to be a tag along with my cuz who was picking up some veggies for his salad , turned into a grab some fruits , bean salad , and salsa sauce for me. the plums , almonds , black bean dip were taken by my bro without my knowledge which means i am coming back next saturday to get more . nice place to get your fruits , veggies and more without going to a farmers market. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

Don't get me wrong. The produce is beautiful - summer fruits especially. Yes it is very expensive…read more I have been a loyal customer for several years. I don't live in the area but nevertheless I go out of my way to shop and tell everyone I.know to.go. 2 weeks ago I bought a honeydew, half an orange flesh melon and a watermelon.. I specifically said I wanted it ripe for that evening. The orange flesh and watermelon were good. The honeydew went straight in the garbage. It was not close to ripe. But 2 days later the orange flesh and watermelon.also went in the trash because they had turned rancid. Today U went back. I had every intention of making a purchase, but wanted to inform the store of the subpar produce ( that cost an arm and a leg btw) from my last visit. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The person whom I can only assume is the owner. Is quite nasty. He claimed this has never happened to him in 43 years and that I didn't store the fruit properly and I should've called. He was quite rude and has a lot to learn about customer service. The staff however were very apologetic and could not have been nicer. He is lucky to have them, and I hope he treats them.better than he treated me this morning.

And the bonus? Most of the time they are still warm on the bottom. Just the apple. The other flavors must be made elsewhere because the crust is not the same. No, I'm not a fan of that other place, just not impressed. More impressed with a place way further up county but it doesn't matter. Westchester Greenhouse makes the best Apple Pie. Yes, I have busted into this pie in the car many times. Forks ready. The pie is still hot, folks. Seasonally, the apple cider donuts are the best anywhere. Yes, better than That place. And that other one up there with the mazes, and bouncy houses and things you don't want or need or have to pay extra to walk on their property. Donuts. That's what that line is about. It moves fast. They hand you the box in the line, they are hot. And with more apple cider taste than those other places too. Apple pie and apple cider donuts. Oh and Wave Hill breads if you can't make it to the farmers markets. Everything else is a plus. Plants. Produce. Wreaths. It's all good. I should buy raspberries from them and tell them to make be a custom raspberry pie with that crust they have on their Apple.

It wasn't until I read through the entire ingredients of the product I consumed where I saw "macadamia nut" listed in the mix of all the other ingredients in the products & it wasn't in bold. However within a few days they had reopened after rearranging the store to make it a much more intimate space with lots more items, produce, as well as all kinds of nuts and desserts. I was also impressed they are opening much earlier in the morning, so one day last week, on my way to work at about 7:15 in the morning, I decided to grab a yogurt and some fresh fruit and maybe a green salad for lunch. When I went to pay, the manager told me that she couldn't sell me the salad, since the date on it was passed (even though the salad looked fresh, and I was willing to pay for it). I was impressed. How many times do you buy a green salad get home only to realize that the date has passed and the salad is no good? While I didn't have time to pick another salad, I decided, I'd return on my way home! Since we were having company over the weekend, I picked out a fresh spinach salad as wells some baby greens and when I went to pay, the manager looked at the baby spinach and told me that if I looked closely, the date for the last day to purchase was that "day" and while the salad looked fine, she told me if I wanted it I should just take it, but that she felt uncomfortable charging me for it. As a result I was able to buy two and get one free but again I left wondering how these folks will be able to stay in business. While I am now a loyal customer, who is urging my friends and neighbors to go and help these wonderful new owners, by buying their exceptional fruits and vegetables p, I remain amazed that a new business can open up where the rents must be very high and still be so concerned about wanting to make their customers happy! One more hot tip: when I was in the store someone had purchased an incredible platter of fresh fruit. While I didn't know how much the person paid, I figured it must be at least $50 bucks, but when I inquired after the man left the store, I was told the entire platter, brimming with fresh cut fruit was only $30. I urged them to chafe more! However in the mean time, for the fruit platters alone, you should drop by and place an order!
