I had several gold pieces from my charm bracelet changed to necklaces for my daughters. They also were there when I busted out crying when turning my fathers gold into other Jewlery. They were compassionate and patient . That was about 6 years ago and I'm headed back to them now for an update appraisal on a family ring. This jeweler was highly recommended to me by a friend, so on a recent visit to a neighboring business I decided to stop in. I never got in the door. At least 4 adults were standing directly in front of the store smoking as well as blocking the sidewalk. There was no way to avoid it. They greeted me with a cheery hello but made no attempt to move away from the door or the sidewalk. At first I thought they had simply migrated from the tobacco shop a few doors down but apparently that is not the case. One woman had a chair and was looking like she was there for the long haul, sitting directly in front of the door to this business covered in a thick cloud of smoke. Needless to say I kept walking on this visit. On my next visit to that shopping center I decided to give them another try. Nope. A similar group of adults was gathered around the front door and blocking the sidewalk smoking their brains out. They have no awareness, or likely, just don't care, that some customers just do not want to walk through a gaggle of smokers to get into a store. Never mind I'm pretty sure there are ordinances about smoking that close to buildings. I have no idea if this store is all it is purported to be. I do know that the cigarette smoke has to be permeating the business and certainly the owner or employee that is out front is reeking of cigarettes. So there is no way I am going to do business there. Most businesses have a back door area where they could certainly gather. I am going to go by there this week and snap a photo of this regular gathering around the coffee can. Then you can decide for yourself if you want to patronize businesses that make you run a gauntlet of smoke to get inside. read more

I had my wedding set resized at this jewelry store. It is a solitaire with a wrap wedding band, the band has baguettes all around. They did a fantastic job and they did it fast, I had my rings back the same day. They checked all the stones and the setting to be sure everything was in good condition in addition to cleaning my rings up. My rings looked as good/or better than they did when I got them 30 years ago. The staff here is amazing! Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Some of the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. It was a nice change to feel valued as a customer, as it doesn't seem to happen very often these days. I sincerely appreciated a small business that provides superior customer service versus a chain/franchise that has employees representing their business that are not invested in the business and are just there for a paycheck. Unfortunately I think we have all experienced that type of situation as consumers. I'm not saying that everyone is that way, there are some employees that value their jobs. The customer service experience I had here compared to the "big box" jewelry store at the mall was shockingly different. I now know exactly where I need to go for any of my jewelry and watch needs. The main diamond had fallen out of my engagement ring after 30 years of wear and tear. The staff were helpful and friendly. Came in for two watch battery changes, which they did while I waited! ($10 each). Staff is very friendly, with a very relaxed atmosphere. I was impressed by a whole side of the store featuring really unique, whimsical designs (eggs and bacon skillet pendant, stingray pin) made in house. I'll definitely be back for jewelry service (and shopping for more items!) UPDATE One of the watches was running slow after the battery change. I brought it back a few days later, and they promptly checked the battery and went through all the batteries to make sure I had one with a full charge (since they can still degrade despite the "use by" date). Took my wife's rings in to be re-sized, including her engagement ring with a square shank and millgrain all the way around. Ring was returned with the millgrain gone around the bottom or "palm side". The jeweler's response was "that's just how it happens" and "you know, you would have worn that off eventually". We know it will wear off eventually, but that doesn't mean we wanted it gone now. We are not savvy on crafting jewelry, hence why we took the rings out to be worked on, so it's possible that that is a very common situation to be expected. However, I wish they had warned us ahead of time so we could make an informed decision beforehand. Considering the custom pieces they like to show off in their displays, I would assume they had the skill to do a simple millgrain around a ring shank. That combined with the lack of empathy or humility when a customer has a concern and it was just a very mediocre and a bit off-putting of an experience. read more

I came in to have a ring made and get a bunch of items appraised. I really like this place.

My mom was given a "Princess Ring" by her mom and dad in 1955. It's a silver ring, with an antique scrolled design and diamond chips on top. One of the diamond chips had come loose and the ring itself was cut off of my mom's finger in 1961 because her fingers swelled up as she was expecting my older brother. She told me my dad was the surgeon who removed it, with a rasp metal file and a pair of needle-nose pliers. It had been sitting in a jewelry case since the time it was removed from her finger, and it was dirty, broken and just looked like the most pitiful piece of jewelry you've ever seen. It needed to be repaired and restored. Local favorite Charlie's Jewelry was going out of business, and they recommended Simply Unique to me. Their store is in the Kiln Creek shopping center, on Rt. 17, just north of I-64. Pretty easy to find. When I brought the ring in, all I knew about it was what I've already mentioned, but Tim and the staff knew a lot more. These rings were popular in the post WWII era in the South, and most of them were made by a company called Barclay's Jewelers. They further told me that it was not Sterling Silver as I thought, but 14k white gold and the pave diamonds were very high quality. Tim gave me an estimate on repairing the ring (I needed it to transform from a size 5&1/2 to a 7&1/4 and to have the loose diamond reset), and told me it'd be ready in 5 days. 2 days later, I got a call that the ring was ready. When I picked it up, I couldn't believe it was the same ring. My mom was astounded at how it turned out. Tim cleaned it and it looked like something that should have a 5-figure price tag. *Tim told me that because it's somewhat vintage, rare, and high-quality, it actually is worth more than any of us believed I was overwhelmed with the service, attention to detail, and knowledge that Tim and the staff at Simply Unique displayed, and I would recommend them to anyone for a custom jewelry purchase or cleaning or repair and restoration. read more

Went to get a watch battery replaced and the latch fixed. They were a little busy and understaffed so I had a little bit of a wait. When they were able to get to me they were extremely apologetic and were able to fix the watch within 15 minutes. Because of my wait, they only charged me for the battery and gave me a complementary cleaning. I would highly recommend coming in for anything you need. I brought my engagement ring in after a horrendous nightmare experience at Helzberg Diamonds at the Patrick Henry Mall. We were looking to turn my solitaire ring into a three stone, but after waiting four months and hearing the gamut of excuses, got back a sloppily done ring. Anyway, I took my ring into Simply Unique based on the great reviews, it seemed like a safe bet. They were friendly and personable, and willing to fix my ring by resetting it, then resizing and re-soldering it back to my wedding band. They called me when the parts came in so I could see what the setting would look like. It was done in less than a week! It was so nice being able to talk to the jeweler - Alex is exceptionally talented and I love that he does the work right there behind the counter. Fantastic quality service. My first visit was to have my engagement ring fixed. I hadn't worn it for years because one of the prongs holding the diamond had broken. They repaired the ring and even polished my wedding band so they would match. I have even had family heirlooms repaired at the shop. They resized my mother's engagement ring and fixed a fifty year old christening cup.
