After a couple of weeks Breitling contacted me with bad news. The watch was not repairable. The parts were no longer available and they said it was a total loss. They did offer me $2,000 in credit if I let them keep the watch. Something told me to get the watch back. Which I did. A family member told me about the watch mechanic. I figured that I had nothing to lose. Within a week I was wearing my vintage watch again and it keeps perfect time. I will never buy another Breitling again. However I will take all my timepieces to the watch mechanic for all my repairs and tune ups He is very reasonable and he also makes custom jewelry.

I took it to another place that was down the street from where I was staying (Jewelry Plus on general booth behind the new Bojangles being built) and the guy was kind enough to tell me it was the spring in the clasp, but when I asked him about having it fixed quickly, he told me he was 2 weeks behind on everything. When I said, okay, who do you recommend? He went off on a tangent about how he was the best and everyone brings everything to him, even other jewelers. And since he's backed up, everyone is..... I said okay. Left and then asked my friend to run me over to Choi's. Walked in, explained what I needed and how I would pay whatever to get it fixed, I didn't need a new spring, I just wanted it fixed The kid at the counter was super helpful. Looked at my chain. Mentioned how it was 14k. Then showed me 14k clasps, as well as 10k clasps if I wanted a cheaper option. Told him I wanted the 14k one, and the kind old man stopped what he was doing, and replaced the clasp in 15 minutes. They've been there for me for at least 30 years. They've been at Lynnhaven as long as I can remember riding a bike there. This is the best non-flashy very experienced jewelry store that everyone should bring their stuff to. Not like these other guys who think highly of themselves but don't have customer service skills.

After I paid him nearly $200 when I picked it up, the watch wasn't fixed. I took it back a second time and he couldn't fix it. I eventually sent the watch back to Seiko and they replaced it. I was also suckered into allowing him work on a Longines quartz. Oh, I can fix it. The ran for about five months. He didn't fix it. I would never go back to him.
