    Sims barbecue truck menu
    Sons of Salvation

Soooo I was on my way to get some grocery store lasagna and made a U-turn when I saw the beautiful Sims barbecue truck. Here are my good points. The truck is very welcoming and clean and the staff are nice and the menu was very legible, although it would be nice if the menu were bigger because I felt I needed to take a picture of it to look at it on my phone as opposed to walking very close to look at it on their truck. I like that they have buzzers to notify you when your food is ready, and it only took them about 5 to 10 minutes to have my order which I thought was great. Now onto the food. For $26 I was able to get sliced brisket with two sides a dinner roll and a can of soda or water which I think is a reasonable price these days with inflation. The baked beans were good with a little bit of sweetness, as you would expect with baked beans . The coleslaw was good and not over sweetened and I was OK with the less mayo as some like there's soupy. They served me about five slices of brisket, which I thought was pretty generous however, it was not tender enough for me. I am used to my brisket being Very easy to bite through, but this one was too tough for my liking so I chopped up the brisket into tiny pieces and stir fried with my own barbecue sauce. And about the barbecue sauce, the sauce was a little spicy, which I think customers should be warned in case they don't like spicy barbecue sauce and I think if you have a spicy sauce, you should also have a mild alternative. Lastly, which I see a trend in many barbecue establishments is that they don't serve cornbread, but serves either a Hawaiian roll or sliced bread. I think to give a good barbecue southern experience cornbread should always be on the menu in my opinion. Also, there was no mac & cheese or greens on the menu which to me are staple side dishes that should be available and concerning drinks sweet tea I think should be an option. I had a few other suggestions, but I will stop and wish these guys the best and since they've been around since 1937 sounds like they'll be just fine.

So I hop on Yelp, type in tacos, and bam... Rafa's Taco Truck pops up. The reviews had me thinking, ok... I might've just hit a home run. It was close to me, so I figured let's go check it out and see if the hype was real. I pull up and the truck is nestled right by a gas station, and honestly if you know, you know--sometimes those low-key spots end up having the best food. I ordered the taco plate with carne asada, rice, beans, and two Mexican Cokes because... why not go all in? Let me tell you, these tacos and that rice and beans played an important part of my day lol. One bite instantly took me back to those days of finishing a hard 3-mile run and rewarding myself with tacos after. That first bite just hit differently. The carne asada was flavorful, tender, and seasoned just right. The rice and beans were straight comfort food and completed the plate perfectly. What made the experience even better was the service. The staff was super hospitable, polite, and just genuinely welcoming. That matters to me just as much as good food. Great food always gets my attention, but good people are what make me want to come back. If you happen to see this truck, do yourself a favor and flag them down. Definitely worth the stop.

So. . . My dad and I were hanging out the other day and he asked me " Have you ever been to that…read moreMexican food truck over by the Shell gas station?" Why, no. No, I have it. So I decided to check it out later that day. My daughter and I arrived in the evening and it was freezing cold. The woman working in the truck wasn't very personable, but that could be because of the cold weather and it being towards the end of the day. I don't know. I ordered a shredded beef super burrito with everything, Carne Asada fries and two grilled chicken tacos. Total came out to approximately $37. I wasn't really tripping until I got home and checked out the Carne Asada fries. My burrito was very delicious and the green salsa that they give you is so good and the grilled chicken tacos were good but the Carne Asada fries weren't pleasing. The meat on the fries was seasoned well so it tasted good, but it was just fries at the bottom and then just like a thin layer of meat and cheese on the top. The meat and cheese to fry ratio was off in my opinion. Other than that, everything was great. You can order ahead of time and pick it up, which they are really quick about. When I was trying to figure out what I wanted, I heard the woman talking to a customer who was ordering by phone. The lady told her she could pick up her order in 10 minutes and it was ready very quickly, which is something I love. I'll definitely be back to get that super burrito and to try other things. The food was really good and I definitely recommend checking this truck out.

Food was decent overall…read more Pancit was decent. No complaints. It had a light flavor. I liked that it wasn't overly oily. Shrimp was plain. The chicken was a bit dry. Lumpia was delicious. Chicken skewer over rice - the broccoli needs some sort of seasoning. Or just steam. It was just too dry. Chicken was okay. Rice was rice. A little pricey for what you get. My biggest complaint would be the service. It was at a nearby business. And there were postings 11am to 2pm. Got there at 11. They weren't ready. The guy said come back in 20 or so minutes. Came back and he was starting to get ready. But while he's cooking and preparing, there's no one else to take orders. So it just stalls. That's probably my biggest problem is the poor planning. I appreciate the attempt to serve us all and being nice and friendly, but it impacts the experience. And I typically give food trucks a lot of grace.

Amazing... no, better than amazing!!…read more Whatever is above amazing -- that's what this is. I'm telling you now, I will not be getting hibachi anywhere else for a long time. My family has had them cater multiple gatherings, and every single time it's been the highlight of the event. And yes, the hibachi show is fun. Yes, the professionalism is solid. But let's be real -- it's the food that separates them. I know people say hibachi is hibachi, but trust me... it's not. I love hibachi, and this is on another level. It took me right back to the first time I fell in love with it -- the flavor, the texture, the way everything is cooked and seasoned. It just hits different. And here's my advice -- don't wait until you have a big event to experience it. Track down their truck and go get a plate for yourself. Just make sure you get there early because there will be a line, and they will sell out. Also, check their Instagram before you go. If they're booked for a catering event, they won't be out, and you'll be stuck settling for something that's just... not this. Go try it. Then come back and tell me I was wrong. I don't think you will.

The fried rice was well cooked and the chef even added extra eggs upon request. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. The chicken, shrimp, and steak were all tender and cooked to perfection. The yum yum sauce and garlic sauce also added an extra flavor profile to the dish. The chef and his assistant were very personable and involved the entire audience in the show. Cleanliness was an A+ as the chef cleaned the grill in between cooking dishes and even changed gloves when preparing the shrimp. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for some fresh and tasty food that also involves live entertainment!
