Stayed at the Simsbury Inn while attending a wedding in Simsburt Ct. The only good part of stayng at the inn was its location to the wedding venue sight. This facilty has without question seen much better days. The room decor was tired and worn . The shower was in a small buthtub that hardly drained, no hand rails etc. The toilet was so small and low to the floor I could not believe it was legal. Overall, we felt it was a great experience, and would do so again in the future. I found black hairs in the bathtub, prior to either of us bathing. My husband has white hair and I have grey hair. Disgusting. It makes you wonder if the sheets were even clean. The hotel turned off our room key prior to 7AM. Check out is 11 AM and our room was paid in full. My husband had to wait in line for the key to be reactivated. No explanation other than the hotel had slipped the paid in full receipt under our door. read more

I really wanted to like my stay. Upon arrival, the inn looked so nice. There was a firepit, the front desk was super nice, there were cookies on the pillow. The beds appeared to be comfortable (they were soft, but comfy). It was very dated but seemingly clean. I even told my husband that we should come back for a weekend. When I settled down for the evening and took a shower, I was standing ankle deep in water that didn't drain from the tub. That was annoying, plus the shower water got warm, not hot. The bathroom sink got hot, but not the shower. I was so tired, and pretty much fell asleep right away. I slept great, however, at 8:00 Sunday morning I was woken up to what seemed like furniture moving in the adjoining room I thought the guests were just being loud checking out. It didn't stop. I finally got out of bed around 8:15 to see if anything was going on in the hallway and low and behold there was a cleaning cart outside my room. Then the vacuuming started. I took video and it sounded like the vacuum was in my room, it was ridiculous. I was really annoyed, plus they left a very narrow space in the hallway to get through (between their cart, a playpen and garbage) It was very unprofessional. I mentioned the noise to the front desk and I was informed that this was there job to clean and get an early start. This is a Sunday morning, standard checkout is at 11 and you are okay with waking up your guests like this. You could have humored me and just apologized for the inconvenience, but to say that is their job! I would never stay here again. I was willing to overlook certain things that I noticed, like the dirty curtain, the ripped chair and the wobbly desk. However, after that comment, I lost respect for this establishment. I do have to say the person who checked me in was very pleasant. The morning staff....not so much. read more

It's an outdated Inn that puts minimum effort into making you feel welcome. The staff needs to remember it's a hospitality industry. Bed was very uncomfortable lumpy and worn out. Furniture is worn and stained. Also found there are fees that are added to the bill that were not mentioned when booking. Food was pretty good as well as portion sizes. We came for Thanksgiving brunch to meet with family. Hopefully I won't have to come back again. read more

If there was a way to leave a 0 star review I would. We haven't even stayed there and it's a disaster. We are booked to attend a wedding. Changing the reservation was near impossible. It's a roll of the dice whether you can get through on the phone and nobody answers emails; they have a recording saying they're busy and you can't leave a message. Finally got Dana on the phone who explained that their system doesn't work, so emails are sent to customers with the wrong days on the reservation. AND, they switched to a new system, so many reservations were duplicated, as was mine. No apologies for any of these things. Dana had attitude and tone and was the worst customer service representative I've spoken to in a long time. Run, don't walk from the Simsbury Inn. read more

As we planned another 'fall foliage' trip to the New England states, one thing was for sure...we were going to stay at The Simsbury Inn again and visit the Litchfield Hills. Simsbury is a great home base for day trips into the surrounding area for scenic drives and even some great wine tasting! The Simsbury Inn is grand and gracious in the most picturesque setting. The winding staircase is impressive as you enter the lobby. On one side is a cozy sitting area with a fireplace and comfortable furniture...on the other is the front desk staffed with efficient and pleasant people. Lovely decor...very warm and inviting with old world charm. A continental breakfast with a variety of items comes with the room, as well as use of the indoor heat pool, jacuzzi, sauna, washer & dryer, exercise room and internet. We stayed in an Executive King...the same room both times. The spacious room was very nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable, and the large bathroom provided nice amenities. It had a bay window that overlooked the nicely landscaped front of the property. The Twig Lounge is at the top of the lovely staircase as well as a ballroom that's popular for wedding receptions. You can order a light dinner from the lounge or a full breakfast from their Nutmeg Cafe. There are several very good restaurants within 2 miles of the inn...most notably Abigail's Grill which is less than a half-mile away (to the south). We would highly recommend staying at The Simsbury Inn if you're staying in the West Hartford area. Good to know...they offer shuttle service which includes picking you up or taking you to the Hartford Airport. read more

We stayed here after a friends wedding. The couple blocked off rooms for guests. The staff, checking in/out and room were perfect. The shower is super hot and has a ton of pressure. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We went to the bar on the first floor and they graciously made us drinks until closing time (not early). We enjoyed our stay so much we may come back for a night. And we only love 40 minutes away! Lots of hiking in the area, so it would be a great resting spot post hike. read more

What a beautiful venue! I had my baby shower here this past Sunday and we had the brunch from their restaurant, Evergreens. First off, the staff was so friendly and attentive, the facilities were clean, and the ballroom which the shower was in was GORGEOUS. Guests keep complimenting the whole day (but we especially can't stop thinking about the food! I can't speak to the back end of planning, but I know my mom and MIL are very happy with the service they received. I visited the Simsbury while in Connecticut for my job, and I have no complaints. It's not a super huge place, and it has a bit of a homey feel. It has all the amenities you'd expect, and they're pretty nice -- pool, exercise room, restaurant space, etc. But I think my favorite part of the hotel was the different places you could hang out. There are a couple patios that you can chill on and have a meal or a drink, which we did a few times while there. There is also a really nice backyard that is has behind the indoor swimming pool. It has string up lights, ping pong, and a bunch of tables to sit at and catch up with friends. Would recommend taking advantage of these spaces at night. They're also kind enough to leave cookies and chocolates in the room every day for when you come back at night. It's not a huge deal, but I really appreciated the thought. I got married at the Simsbury Inn in April of 2015 and had the most amazing experience. My husband and I were set on the idea of having everything in one place near our home towns - ceremony, reception, hotel, etc. Because of this, we were looking at Inns in Connecticut and came upon the Simsbury Inn through reviews and having stayed there once before for a wedding. We booked the Inn in March of 2014 and from then on worked with Patti Candels who was absolutely amazing. She was attentive and extremely responsive through the entire planning process and made us feel at ease about planning a wedding in CT while living in NYC. I reserved the bridal suite for the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. I also reserved the Talcott Room, which is attached to the bridal suite, for the morning of the wedding. This room is PERFECT for getting ready. The tall windows let in a lot of natural light (perfect for make up and hair). The room has a small kitchen and another bathroom. It's located at the top of the staircase which makes trips to the car for your glam team easy. It made the morning as stress-free as possible as all I needed to do was open the adjoining door and step into the room. you can order in breakfast/food from the Inn or bring in your own. Our ceremony took place in the Laurel Ballroom (too cold / weather too unpredictable to get married outside in April). We framed the "alter" with two pillars and large floral arrangements on the side of the room with their glass atrium. After the ceremony, we held the cocktail hour in the Evergreens restaurant while the room was turned over for the reception. After the cocktail hour, we were back in the Laurel Ballroom for the remainder of the evening. The staff was incredible through the entire evening and everything was executed as we had pictured. The food at the cocktail hour and the reception was amazing. I wish I could have eaten more passed hors d'oeuvres (they are my favorite part of the wedding) but did get to enjoy each part of the meal (a little bit)! To top it all off, the wedding cake was fabulous. I found a fairly simple three tiered wedding cake online, brought the photo to Patti, and was told their in house pastry chef could make it happen. It was simple and elegant and most importantly, DELICIOUS! We received a few comments back about how tasty it was. The ballroom and hallway leading up to it was also recently given fresh carpet, wallpaper and a coat of paint. I was more than happy with how it looked when we booked it but was blown away with how beautiful it was when I saw the room a month before our wedding. It went perfectly with our color scheme! Overall, the Simsbury Inn deserves 5 stars for their hospitality, their staff, their food, and for Patti Candels. *Wedding Guest Review* My cousin had her wedding reception at the Simsbury Inn recently. I had never been here before and was pleased with how easy it was to find and how much parking there was. Once inside, there were many signs put up to let us know where the cocktail hour and reception were going to be held, with the times clearly marked. Of course, many of us walked right by the signs and asked the front desk for that information - to their credit, they didn't appear annoyed by constantly repeating the same information. The cocktail hour didn't start for about an hour after our arrival, but we were able to find space for our party both in the front lobby and upstairs in the bar/restaurant area. The cocktail hour was held in the Evergreen Restaurant. The hors d'oeuvres that I tried were fantastic (stuffed mushrooms, spring roll, and bacon-wrapped something) and the trays seemed to be never-ending. The room was huge and the patio was spacious as well, although the smell of cigarettes sort of ruined that experience for us. The bartenders seemed a little overwhelmed by our party, but they were able to make do. The dinner was held in the big banquet room. I loved that the tables were oval rather than circular as we were better able to hear/see the other people at our table. We started off with a Bibb salad (lettuce, sundried tomatoes, cheese, pine nuts, champagne vinaigrette) and everyone raved at how delicious it was. The dj pulled us aside for group photos during the salad course, which I think was perfect timing (although some of us were sweaty and red after a sort of strange 20-minute dance party in between wedding party intros and salad). As for entrees, I ordered the salmon (filet of salmon, pan-seared with fresh bread crumbs, horseradish, dill, binded with butter) which came with carrots and mashed potato (a little too salty for me but still good). Others at my table had chicken (good reviews) and filet (ranged from perfect to way overcooked and sort of cold). I'm glad I stuck with the salmon. The dj did a great job of mixing classics with newer pop hits and kept people out of their seats for most of the night. The decor was a little frilly and too gilded for me, but it appeared that everything was clean and fresh and that's really what matters! We had a great time and I would be happy to attend another reception here in the future! read more

If stable WiFi connections are important to you, I would not recommend this place. I stayed on the third floor which was probably the furthest from the router. They only have free wifi with no paid upgrade. There was no hard wired network available in the room either. I talked to the network support but of course there was nothing they could do because the issue was just poor WiFi signal due to inadequate infrastructure investment for guests. I visit the area for business occasionally but I will never stay this place again. Front desk was actually kind and tried to help. read more

My wife and I had our wedding at the Simsbury Inn in early September 2021 and the experience was fantastic! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Several of our guests said that the food was the best wedding event food that they ever had (including the cake that was way better than normal boring cakes). I particularly loved the pricing model that included all expenses in the per seat price for the meals. Even though the per meal price was higher than almost all other vendors, we ended up paying less overall because everything was included! Other vendors advertise a lower per meal price but then nickel and dime you as you make the event what you expect it to be. I highly recommend this facility for events and will always enjoy the memories made at our wedding. read more

Staff was attentive yet unobtrusive to the guests. Function rooms were really nice and didn't feel like a typical hotel reception at all. Food was divine, including an amazing wedding cake prepare by the hotel kitchen. Lovely, lovely wedding. Room Cozy yet luxurious. Large plush bed (though pillows were a bit hard and uncomfortable), quiet environment, plenty of space for two adults. Brunch Delicious and plentiful! The choices abound, with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, omelette cooked to order, hot food that was really good - not the usual fare of stuff left over the burner too long. I got married at the Simsbury inn a few weeks ago and everything was OUTSTANDING; the food, the service and all the employees were wonderful. Patti had been super helpful for the past year by Always answering our emails right away and meeting us in person whenever we needed. The entire staff there made sure everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. When the wedding was over, we continued our party in the bar for 2 hours and then when the bar was closed we were able to move our party down to the lobby. Yes, there was an employee working there that asked us to keep it down a time or two. He wasn't being rude, he was just doing his job. My wife and I stayed here for a weekend getaway a few weeks ago, and only have great things to say about it. When there was a question about the room matching the over-the-phone original agreement, they didn't hesitate to upgrade us to a larger room and made sure we were happy. We had arrived there after having dinner out, so we went to the bar/lounge for a drink. While the lounge decor was looking a little tired, the bartender/server was very accommodating and friendly. We went for the Sunday brunch, which was amazing. The variety of dishes was impressive -- and everything I tried was delicious. They had a guitarist/singer playing while we ate, who was a nice balance between background and a focus -- she had a beautiful voice and played of her own material and covers. We will be going back there just for the brunch, probably for a special occasion, and will arrive hungry! It was included in the package we bought, but it would have been on the pricy side (I believe $40/person). All told, this was a great find. The manager and every employee we encountered went out out of his or her way to make sure we were satisfied and comfortable. We will certainly return. read more

I booked it through hotels.com and it was not until after that I saw they had a much better package deal online that included dinner and a few other perks. When i made reservations for dinner they made it seem like they were squeezing us in and on arrival there was plenty of room. Either way it was a lovely dinner. Stayed here this weekend for a wedding across the street. What a beautiful hotel. They really take care of the grounds, and even though I did not see one maintenance worker, the lobby and all the hallways were spotless. I had read on tripadvisor that a few people had mentioned problems with the plumbing, but I did not experience any. The staff was very friendly. When I got there they were very accommodating, and were again when I checked out. The lobby is gorgeous, with the couches and fireplace. It seemed old fashioned at first, then that went out the window when you have the electronic key cards to enter the rooms. The pool and hot tub were nice as well. I would stay there again if need be. Also, I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but the hotel was dog friendly. read more

I just stayed at the Simsbury Inn for one night after a wedding. The level of care and attention the staff paid was outstanding. When booking the room the Inn was originally booked so I was referred to a sister property. Glen, the gentleman I spoke with on the phone at the Simsbury Inn, actually called back to confirm that I-someone who was not a customer - got a room. He later called back with a room opening and cancelled the reservation I had at their sister property. While staying there Rita was one of the wait staff and she was fantastic and super sweet! The food was amazing, the decor was nice, and the building was clean. I highly recommend the Simsbury Inn!! read more

This review is for the Twigs Tavern located on the premises. We started coming to the Simsbury Inn just for meals while my in laws visited us from Ohio. They come once or twice a year and after trying a few area hotels, the Simsbury Inn is now where they stay every visit. At least once during their stay we will share a meal with them at Twigs. The first thing I noticed was the great service. Despite having small children with us, they have always been happy to wait on us. Most of the time, whomever is waiting on us is also bar tending and they always are calm and cool while managing it all. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. We now visit here on date nights, not just when the in laws are in town. For Christmas this year, we asked for gift cards here so we could have a night away and a great meal at Twigs! One thing we order each time is the shrimp cocktail and they are so good! Big, cold shrimp that go perfectly with their lemon caper dipping sauce. Another go to for me is their French onion soup. The cheese is perfect broiled on top and has great flavor. Ever meal I have had here has been really good! I truly look forward to our next visit. read more

I checked in yesterday and from the moment I walked in, I could tell I was going to enjoy my stay. The hotel is in pristine condition, the staff extremely friendly and courteous. My room, with a bay window and a poster king size bed, is picturesque New England. I have to emphasize how clean and orderly this hotel is. It's actually quite impressive. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels and they cannot compare to this hotel. Convenient location, free parking, laundry on every floor and detergent provided. Free wifi (which actually works!) is a plus. Will definitely come back for another visit! read more
