I'm writing today because I would love to see your business grow even further, and I think a dedicated website would be a great next step. The physical ambiance is really aesthetic. The store is massive and it I has everything you could look for. In fact, you guys are the only place my father recommends for authentic sesame oil. Many customers in the Flint area look for specialty Egyptian and international groceries online before they visit. A website would make it much easier for us to see your latest inventory, check store hours, and even place advance orders for pickup. I would personally recommend using Shopify or WooCommerce. These are globally recognized leaders in e-commerce that are very user-friendly and would give you full control over your store's digital identity. Please do NOT use Wix as they are Israeli. I enjoy coming to Sindbad's as the owner is frequently there and very helpful. They've launched their own dairy brand called B. Haleeb, and I have really enjoyed my container of their yogurt/ laban. The store is clean and well stocked with Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian products. They have a butchery (is that what it's called?) stocked with halal meats and some bakery goods as well (such as pita bread!). read more

Small but packed with most things you need to cook up excellent middle-eastern and Indian foods in your own kitchen. It is lacking in good fresh produce, but that is almost the only thing I cannot always get. What I love best is that it isn't like a huge international market that is bustling with far too many people, and it is so much closer than any of those international markets. First time visiting, had a wide selection, we were excited to find a spot that had Indian spices and snacks coming from CA. It was recommended so we decided to check it out. Store was clean, we were greeted by the guy sweeping. Browsed for about 15 minutes before checking out. Um they said nothing when checking the items, placed the receipt on the counter & left. For that reason I won't be back if that's how you say thank you to customers who spend $60+ on your merchandise. read more

I found this little Middle Eastern-style grocery store just by chance after stopping into Great Lakes Sandwich Co. and Cafe, also located in the same strip mall as Sinbad's. Sinbad's sells a nice variety of baked goods, particularly freshly baked breads, which shouldn't come as a surprise since they appear to have a bakery attached in the rear of the store. While it's a small store- tiny by the standards of typical big box grocery chains- it does have a nice selection of fresh produce (all reasonably priced) and fantastic mid-eastern spices, including some rare and hard-to-find items. They also have a huge variety of rices, beans and specialty teas, all at fair prices. I picked up some hibiscus tea (which I highly recommend) and a couple of relatively obscure spices that aren't easily found elsewhere during this particular shopping trip. Although I only scanned the dairy section quickly, the variety of cheeses seemed pretty decent at first glance. Maybe next time? I didn't find the meat section terribly impressive, but I don't buy meat, anyway, and maybe their supply was inexplicably on the low end that day and they were waiting for the stock to be replenished, who knows? The store does specifically carry halal meats, so that's something fairly unique on its face since they aren't widely available at most grocers. Beware, there is a minimum charge for all credit card transactions ($5), but that's not a big deal. This hidden gem is one of my favorite spots in the Flint area. The owner is extremely helpful and I'm typically able to find all of my pantry staples. Great prices, robust variety, and occasional surprises. I really wish they would integrate more meat and fresh produce - other than that, I'd rate 10/10. read more

After my first visit to Sinbad's yesterday I couldn't understand why other reviewers were giving such low scores. Other Mid Eastern stores that have come and gone in the greater Flint area have never been so well stocked with such a great variety of goods. Many items such as grains and rices were in a variety of sizes. Many of these are difficult to impossible to find locally anywhere else. As one reviewer noted, "you don't have to drive 50 miles to get it." Spices, teas and coffees were in very large selections. Beyond Mid Eastern, there were many Indian and far eastern goods also available. The store was clean, bright and the only employee I encountered was both helpful in finding what I was looking for and very polite. I arrived later in the day and the bread selection had mostly been depleted, but what was left was fresh and had that intoxicating bread aroma still lingering around. Although not everyone will find things they want or need here, but if you are planning on a special meal or just want to experiment with interesting ingredients, try Sinbad's. Sinbad's does accept debit/credit and will take some advance orders. Staff is multilingual. read more

Came here by recommendation to find some supplies for something simple (cardamom, clover, and mint tea...good stuff) and I will certainly be back after my experience. The owner is extremely friendly and was more than happy to help me out, show me around, give recommendations, and teach me a thing or two about herbal remedies and teas.
