We got spinach and chicken pakoras, kadai chicken, and goat curry. They were flavored so well and the meats were all so tender and cooked perfectly. The staff was so incredibly nice to our family and even gave our kids some drinks because of a little delay in our order being fulfilled. We were blown away at the great pricing. Both the service and the food were sub-par at best. The restaurant itself was clean, but our server was unfriendly. He never asked how our meals were or if we needed refills. To get his attention, we had to call for him as he was across the restaurant. He didn't bring the bill to the table and didn't tell me how much the total was. I had to walk up and the counter and he took my card without a word. I paid, and he said nothing. It is worth noting that we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The food was average. I have little to say about it other than I've had much better food at other Indian restaurants. I brought my brother and grandmother here today, thinking we would try a new local restaurant. This is the best Indian food I've had! I've ordered from here at least 10 times and it never disappoints. The garlic naan is fantastic. The Gobi Manchurian, Malai Kofta, and the Aloo Gobi are my favorites. They also give a good amount of rice with the dishes as well. When I dine it, it's a pleasant experience with good service. I always enjoy coming to Grill of India, whether it is for their buffet early on in the day or for their dinner hours where friends and I can enjoy a massive, flavorful menu ala carte. They never miss when it comes to these flavors on their many, many dishes. Grill of India offers seafood, lamb, vegetarian, and chicken options, as well as many appetizers and some sweet stuff too! The buffet provides a good variety for starters into their foray into what I believe is the best cuisine on planet Earth. The waiters are always kind and always make sure I'm doing well and refilling my water. The tables are comfortable and there is plenty of booth and regular seating, as well as accommodation for large parties. When ordering ala carte, the portions at first May look deceivingly small, but they are in fact very flavorful and filling and not quite small at all. We have never had the buffet here, always ordering off the menu and enjoying fantastic food. We tried the buffet today and it was like eating at a different restaurant, it was terrible! The only food that was even warm were the soups; lentil which was delicious with a nice hint of spice and chicken soup which was absolutely disgusting. The chicken soup has an off taste reminiscent of dish water with a few microscopic pieces of overcooked tough chicken in the bottom of the pot. The only meat on the buffet was chicken served 4 ways. They had their typical dry as shoe leather tandoori chicken (which we ordered in the past and knew was not good) was dry, the butter chicken was tasteless, the chili chicken was very good but left a grease puddle and a fourth one which was tasteless. The naan was dry, the vegetables overcooked, the lemon rice tasted like regular white rice and the vegetable pakora was greasy and doughy. What a horrible buffet, never again. read more

Before this place opened, many had to venture down to the Novi/Ann Arbor/Detroit area to find good Indian food. Glad there's a place closer to folks who live there now. Not bad at all for an Indian cuisine restaurant in Michigan! I'm used to the multitude of Indian restaurants in the Bay Area of California so this was definitely a pleasant surprise. We weren't sure how good the food would be so we played it safe for our first visit with saag paneer and butter chicken along with roti. The entrees were quite tasty as was the roti but it was quite thick which made it taste more like naan. We got chicken biryani as well which was a little too spicy, but otherwise pretty good. The portion size was big and we had leftovers for 2 people. Given how few customers were there, their service was extremely slow. It took much longer than it should to get our appetizers and we barely had enough time to eat them before our entrees starting arriving. I also ordered a rasmalai for dessert (which was terrible!), and it was on the house due to their slow service which I appreciated. I just told them we were vegan and they showed us all the things on the menu that we could get and I didn't even ask and they put "no butter" on our ticket. We loved our food! We ordered medium spice for the aloo gobi and baigan bartha. The roti bread was very good, everything was SUPER delicious, and we have eaten Indian quite a bit to know the difference. The timings on Yelp and what is written on the door and what is on their web site are all different. As an example, on their web site it says they are open on Sunday up to 9.30 PM. Yelp says 9.00 PM. On the door they had written 9.30 PM - In reality they told us that they close at 8.30 PM on Sunday and take the last order at 8.00 PM - So please fix all this so that customers know what your real timings are. read more
