I've been an "on again, off again" customer of this business for close to 20 years. The pizza is decent, as is their hot sandwiches. That's the only good thing I can say. Used to love ordering from here many years ago; there was always 1 free plain cheese pizza per 2 pizzas with toppings ordered. They used to "label" the pizzas on the outside bag to easily know which is which, prices were not bad. The pizzas were and still are reminiscent of carnival pizzas from back in the day. While they always promote "buy 2 get 1 plain free," emphasis on the word "ALWAYS," that is inaccurate. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE if you expect that free plain cheese pizza, as it will not be honored. Prices now for the size of the pizzas, makes more sense to pay more and get significantly larger pies from local establishments. This used to be a great go-to for varieties of pizza pies when having company. Since they no longer label, every bag of pizza must be opened to determine which is which. When ordering on their site through Google, there is a fee, even for picking up. Long story ending, I've remembered why I'm mostly "off again" on this business on Beverwyck. read more

My family loves Singas pizza and that's how I found out about it. Love that it comes in a personal pie size and if you order 2 speciality pies, you get 1 plain pizza free. It's quick and easy, ingredients are fresh and service is quick. They used to be in a smaller location a few years back and now they have a pretty spacious place. Love that the pizza is nice and thin yet really crispy. I do think it's the best pizza spot in Lake Hiawatha, its the only one I'll go to. When you eat here and order two pizzas with a topping they give you a free plain. Definitely didn't need all that tonight. Crust and cheese and toppings were as good as the other location I've been too. Dough was perfectly chewy with a soft crust. Delivery arrived prior to quoted time. It's a unique pizza and I'm a fan. Delicious pizza under $7.. it was a rainy day and we decided to go here. As it was weekday it was almost empty. There are no servers, so you have to order at the counter. one Chinese old guy was having some tough time to understand our order (we ordered simple onion and bell pepper pizza with chicken topping on it and Chicken grill wrap). Another guy came, and he was bit rude. Anyway, we got our order after 10 minutes and pizza was awesome. Like if you are bored with papa jones, Domino's pizza, this handmade pizza you can try. I used to go to the Signas pizza in Elmurst queens, been a big fan since then. This place is a hit or miss, lately they have been taking a lot of short cuts and putting less and less of cheese and toppings to save money. Pizza here is always solid. It is what it is. The service on the other hand is god awful. I ordered a pizza over the phone and waited about 15-20 mins before I went to pick it up. Mind you, they gave me that time frame and I ordered maybe about an hour after they opened. I get there and all of the workers, kitchen staff included. Are just sitting around and not doing anything, all on their phones. I said I was here for a pickup and the guy made a face, and looked at his workers and told them to start making my pizza. We've been longtime customers of Singas Famous Pizza (ever since they opened back in Jackson Heights). We have been consistently placing large orders for take out over the phone ever since they opened their Lake Hiawatha location. Today I tried placing an order for 16 pies over the phone (as I've done many times in the past). After relaying my entire order the employee informed me that the size of this order was too large to be taken over the phone and that I'd have to come in person. Fine, we make our way to Singas and place our order. We go to pay with credit card and he says "we're cash only today." What the heck?! My total is $100+ and you expect me to believe you're cash only? I know for fact that I pay with CC only every time I come here. If you're gonna pretend to be cash only, at least have an ATM in house. Needless to say, he did accept my credit card after a stare down. Shut up and take the loss on the 3% fee on a large order like mine. read more

I've loved this place for years but after the horrid customer service I just received I will never order from there ever again. The delivery driver had the audacity to argue with me that I put an incorrect address in. I am sorry, but as mentioned above, I have ordered from here for years and NEVER had an issue with the delivery. She spent 30 minutes in the wrong apartment complexes - after I gave her the correct address and landmarks multiple times. I reached out to Singas themselves, who responded "what do you want us to do about it?" Finally, after she arrived, she YELLED at me because of her mistake. This establishment does not honor the Singas "Buy 2 get a free pie" that has been prevalent throughout all Singas franchises. At first I thought the other reviewers were being too harsh, but it appears that the owner of this franchise will nickle, dime, and scam any pennies out of there customers. This type of scam would work if there wasnt any good alternatives around however NJ does have good pizza that would best earn my money. Very light but filling personal pizzas made with good fresh ingredients. Great deal buy 2 with toppings and get a plain for free. I love their eggplant is thin sliced breaded and sweet. The make a great parmesan sandwich and make it any way you like. I've had it once with fresh peppers, onions and mozzarella and it was excellent. I have been a Singa's fan for decades now from back in the day when there where only a few locations in Queens. There is something different about this pizza. It is not NY style pizza. It is not Chicago deep dish pizza. It is its own entity of delicious personal sized pizza that is not thick not thin, not soft or crunchy, but just perfect in every way. Ehhh. Driving down N. Beverwyck and decided to stop someplace for lunch. Pulled into lot, building is clean and inviting. As I walked in I realized there were no customers inside (1pm on a Monday). Walked to counter and I was greeted by a very nice gentleman. Asked if they had slices, he said no they had personal pies only, which I found odd. But ok. Ordered a philly pizza. Sat down in the empty restaurant. Pie came out about 10 minutes later. As for pizza...it was ok. Like a frozen pie from the grocers freezer. Cracker type crust, sweetish sauce. Been a fan of Singas for many years and continue to patronize the brand at their different locations. This review has nothing to do with the quality of food. Rather, I'm disappointed with their business practices. I've placed large orders with them in the past and always felt I overpaid. Today, I decided to spend a few minutes studying their menu. Ordered six pies with different toppings. Should have been no more than $32.60 including the sales tax. Paid $35.60 at pickup. I came after 10 yrs to this area. Having tasted their delicious pizzas in 2005-2006, I was looking forward to the same great taste. But I was very disappointed. It tasted so bland and under prepared. Today, my father came back after a pick up order at Singa's Famous Pizza and was very upset. He said that every time he goes there he feels discriminated against. He pays by credit card but told me that he's being told for the last YEAR that the credit card machine is "broken" yet he sees other patrons pay by credit card all the time. Today, he decided to confront the merchant about the broken machine after which he was told that he was not owed any explanation and was shown the door. When I heard the story, I couldn't believe it. Could they really be accepting credit cards based on the ethnicity or age of patrons? In an attempt to validate my father's story, I placed a second order for more pizza a few hours later. I walked into the store, I handed the merchant my credit card, and when she put her fingers on it I pulled it away and began asking her some questions. The other employees in the store clearly saw that a scene was being created and immediately came to the front counter. This is my best recollection of the conversation: Me: So, your credit card machine is working? Cashier: Yes, sir it is. Me: The reason I'm confused is that my father was here a few hours ago and told me that your machine was broken. Cashier: Oh yeah (nervously), it was broken but it's fixed now. Me: I see. You had it fixed in the last 2 hours? Cashier: Well, no, I mean, sometimes it's broken. We connect it to the printer and sometimes it doesn't work. Me: So, it's working now? How come you didn't even attempt to use the machine when my dad gave you his card? And why have you not accepted his card for over a year? Do you assume that just because he's older and Indian he should be paying in cash? Cashier: No, no, no. We don't discriminate here. Trust me it's not like that. It's just that sometimes the manager asks me to put the "credit card machine broken" sign up and I do it. Me: He asks you to put it up when certain types of people come into the store? Cashier: No, no, nothing like that. Sometimes we just need more cash in the register so then I'm supposed to put up the "credit card machine broken" sign. But after your dad left I removed it, so I can take your credit card now. Me: You can take my credit card because my skin is lighter and I'm younger, right? If I ever hear about this happening at this store ever again I will make it my life's mission to make sure this place is investigated for tax fraud and that it's licenses are revoked. Good night, and by the way, I don't want those pizzas any more. A second employee chimed in as I was leaving the premises without paying, I think he was a pizza maker. Pizza Maker: You can't do that! You can't just order pizzas and not take them! Me: Oh, is that dishonest? Like putting a fake sign up that says the credit card machine is broken? Pizza Maker: But that's not our fault, our manager told us to do it, and he's going to make us pay for these pizzas when he gets back. That's not fair! Me: I'll tell you what, I'm going to write down my name and number. You tell your manager to call me if he has any questions about why I didn't buy these pizzas. And, if he makes you pay for them, I want you to call my number because the next call your manager will get will be from my attorney and the Department of Labor. Good night. To top it off MOST IMPORTANT I walked in and see the kid in the back making my sandwich with his bare hands. I called him out told him to remake it and put gloves on, and he kept giving me looks like he's better then me. Just do your job right and make the sandwich. After passing by this place all the time, we finally ordered take-out. The size of the pizzas are great and perfect for one person or if you want to try different toppings. I wasn't really impressed with the flavor though. It wasn't bad but not as flavorful as I thought it would be. I got the vegetable special pizza but instead of having an even amount of each topping, it was just overloaded with onions, like they were trying to use it as filler so they didn't have to give you as much of the others. In the world of fake pizza, Singas might be the least fake. Their pies are miniature (they don't do traditional), but at least they taste somewhat real (unlike the junk you get at Dominos, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, etc.) and are made of real-ish ingredients. Singas has carved out a reputation of fast service and good tasting food. I can also vouch that their meatball parm sub is tops. The plain pie as well as the onion pie are both pretty decent. If you're in the mood for a weird personalized pizza, take Singas for a test run. They usually offer a free pie as well for every two that you order. That said, there are other "real pizza" options on Beverwyck Rd which are more advisable. read more

This is the lake Hiawatha's to go pizza place. It's the place for not in the mood for cooking for my wife. They only offer a personal size pizza. Good 7". They are not pricy either as they offer pizza that are 7-9 bucks depending on topping. They actually have always ongoing promotion of 2 + 1 cheese free. It's good in my case as my year old gets his personal cheese pizza (he is happy.) I prefer to eat their pizza at there as I don't like how their cheese behave after setting cold (gue and oily). I am not sure what cheese they use to make their pizza. But it's good right out of the oven. The salad was served in a metal "to go" container along with two cheap paper plates. The cheese pizza had an awful crust which tasted a step below a store bought frozen pizza. These are personal pies. They have no other sizes. The size was kind of perfect. They're nothing particularly special though, but they are pretty okay and gave me my fix on pizza. The crust was good, sauce was good, toppings were good. Everything was just good. I ordered for delivery so I can't say whether or not the location was anything special either. While this is great pizza, it's not quite as good as the other Singa's locations (esp. Jersey City). There's a weird aftertaste with the cheese... Also, I really like the way Jersey City does their peppers. This is absolutely my favorite pizza place. Every time I get pizza from anywhere else I always compare it to Singas pizzas. The decor inside is minimal. There are chairs and tables but I mostly just get my pizza to-go. The crust is very good - thin and a good mix of crunchy and chewy. The sauce is excellent, the cheese is plentiful and always melty and gooey (all the things that make for a great pizza!) and the toppings are always delicious. My favorite one is their Hawaiian pizza. All of their pizzas come in just one size. They are individual-sized small pizzas. I cannot finish all of it in one sitting but I can definitely see someone who's very hungry eating a whole one (or two... or even three...) on their own. An added bonus is that when you buy two pizzas, they will give you a third plain one for free... or you can get toppings on it and just pay extra - an especially good thing if you are going with a couple of friends or your family. Ok, so the za and their jalapeño poppers are good except they use canned mushrooms and their garlic bread was really stale. I called tonight to order two pizzas (personal - that's all they have) poppers, garlic bread, and a salad. I told the woman who answered the phone that, unless the delivery people have updated their GPS, they need to follow Google Maps because our subdivision is only 5 years old. She replied by saying, "Delivery will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours and we do not have Google Maps." Um... You don't? We then got our Delivery 35 min. later. So that was good. Expect weirdness when you call.
