TLDR; Stay away from this place. They're creepy, overpriced, rude, and very bad with children. Our child needed to use the restroom when we got there, and they said we couldn't wait for her outside the door. We had to go to the room for the appointment. That some staff member would "be there when she got out". We've never been there. Our daughter had never been there. And the first thing they did was say we can't wait for her to finish using the restroom? Red flag number one. Red flag number two. We hesitantly oblige and go wait in the room - only to realize our daughter had left the bathroom and of course, no one was there waiting for her. So she's in a new place, without her parents there, and no one to help (or anyone because the place was weirdly empty). I had to tell the staff it sounded like she was out of the bathroom for them to realize based on their own words they were supposed to go get here. And red flag number three. "Dr" stephen herself. Slinked into the room in a very creepy way, whispering so low none of us could hear her. It was so off-putting I can't put it into words. I had to ask her to speak up a number of times throughout the "consultation". Despite being asked to speak up, she immediately began whispering in the same low tone, mentioning that they don't want kids to remember a dental experience that could "scar them for life" so they have the kids drink some "juice" - yes she used the word "juice" - that would help them forget. I had to ask her what was in it! Which she then described as an amnesia inducing product called Versed. (Which has serious risks for children with asthma, which they did not seem to care about at all). I asked her if this was necessary and she said "no", then mentioned they could use a local anesthetic of some kind instead. We then asked her if we could keep our daughter company, at least be in the same room, while the procedure is being done. We were told no. How could we possibly leave our child with someone whose staff couldn't even make sure they were there for her when she left a bathroom ten minutes before? And the bonus. The procedure was estimated to cost a little under $950, and HALF of that was the so called "juice" (Versed). Obviously we left and are never ever going back there. All in all it was a loss because that "consultation" cost over one hundred dollars. Stay away from this place. read more

I went to Dr. Stephen after a referral from my dentist to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I was VERY nervous. I don't do well with needles at all, and was also very nervous about the novocaine. She and her staff were very helpful before and during putting me under for the procedure and afterwards as well (though I did get quite panicky before and after!). She was very clear with the aftercare instructions and gave me a sheet that gave more detailed instructions and answered my FAQs. Her office person was also helpful when I called between the extraction and the follow up with additional questions. The follow up was very quick which I found to be helpful since I head going on my lunch, but Dr. Stephen was still thorough in making sure everything was healing okay before having me leave. Her office seems very clean and organized as well, and it was very quick getting in for my appointments. read more

I went to Dr. Stephen in 2019 for a dental implant. I cannot praise her and her staff enough for making me feel comfortable through my procedure. I also wanted to say although this is a expensive procedure I did make phone calls to get quotes. Dr Stephen had the lowest price. Took about a year for everything to be finished. I recently had a friend have this procedure done else where because she didn't want to travel to Avon. all I can tell you is that she regrets not taking my advice! I would highly recommend Dr. Stephen. The staff was very professional yet made me feel comfortable throughout the process. Informative of what was taking place and why and answered all of my questions even if I asked the same one previously. I couldn't have asked for a better experience having a tooth removed. read more

had a tooth extracted, pain went on for days and she refused to write new script insinuating i was abusing pills, i was given 20 hydracodone, tooth was pulled on friday by next thursday it was still very bad. her comment was 20 pills is enough, take one every 4-6 hours as needed and 20 go fast especially when it is still very bad 7 days later. she stated ibuprofen is enough as i am the one in pain and she acts like judge and jury, never again , she is uncaring. read more

Dr. Stephen was highly recommended by my dentist for my daughter to have her wisdom teeth removed. We followed the necessary steps from consultation to surgical removal. I have no complaints about the procedure completed by Dr. Stephen. I have complaints about the office staff and the way they handled processing of the procedure, which caused a significant amount of unnecessary stress. The office stated this procedure would be covered at 100% by my dental insurance. 3 months later I received a bill for $561.00. When I inquired about the bill, the office stated that the insurance refused to cover a portion of the procedure and it was now my responsibility to reach out to the insurance and remediate the issue. 5 months later and 3 denials from the insurance company, I called the office consistently within this 5 month period to update them on the status of the claim and proceedings, they told me to keep fighting it and to go as far as making a complaint to the insurance commissioner, which I did. The office stated that the bill needs to be paid or I would be sent to collections despite the aggravation that I was going through with the insurance company. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I called to paid the bill knowing that it needed to be taken care of, since the insurance was not going to cover the cost that the office stated to me would be covered at a 100%. The office manager was fully aware that the payment was going to be made, I became distracted with my work responsibilities and did not make a payment on that day, however I called a few days later (because the office seems to always be closed at 3pm and I am at work until that time or later). When I finally reached them on that Friday of the same week, both office assistants stated it was too late and my bill was sent to collections. If the collections processed was to be stop, I would need to pay the bill in full. This is absurd, I have called my medical offices recently and in the past to stop the collection process and make payments without a hitch, due to my high HSA. This office refused to stop the process even after they knew what I had been dealing, trying to deal with the insurance company. I decided to reach out to my insurance again for the 5th time and asked to do a full case review with me from the day of consultation to the completion of the procedure. The result was that my insurance was NEVER going to cover the full procedure because my insurance did NOT have that type of coverage for the said procedure, that is why they sent me three denials. The office misinterpreted the information that was provided to me on the day of the consultation, and I did not receive a written pre-authorization from my insurance company that would provide to me of what the cost would be, which for any procedure over $300.00 is required by my dental insurance. What is so unnerving about this whole thing is it that I would have easily paid the outstanding balance if the information given to me was accurate, which it was not. For 5 months, consistent phone conversations with her office staff they urged me consistently to argue, write/fax letters of complaints to my insurance, send an abundant amount of information to make a complaint to the insurance commissioner, which has taken endless time and hours to make sure payment was made to Dr. Stephen. And after further and detailed investigation, the information was not clearly understood or communicated to the best of their ability. I trusted them to handle the process and believed that they were in the right. In the end, I NEVER had 100% coverage and her staff refused to validate that they were in the wrong. They failed to stopped the collection process and were extremely rude, stating that I was threatening because I wanted to halt the collection process and make a payment. The office staff poorly handled this situation, cause unnecessary stress and aggravation for something that was simple and easily resolved with admitting the information that was initially given to me was incorrect. Dr. Stephen then sent me a certified letter stating that her office staff tries their best to assist clients and it is still my responsibility to pay the bill, no compromise or apology for what this office has done to me over the course of 5 months. was sloppy and very condescending, told me to tell her if pain was bad during extraction an she would give more pain killer, when it hurt badly, she said hold on almost done. many minutes later it was terrible and she acted like i was bothering her, terrible, this person should not be working on anyone's mouth. read more

I'm experiencing similar problems to Prudenza L. (post dated 2/3/2019). Dr. Stephen was recommended by my dentist and we were really happy with her service and staff when my son had his wisdom teeth out. All was cleared by my insurance company and I paid my bill IN FULL the date of his extraction (July 2018) but continue to experience issues with billing. I spent a lot of time over the past nine months on the phone with the doctor's office, my insurance company, filling out additional paperwork, etc. because Dr. Stephen requested additional payments from my insurance company and they were denied. For some reason I am now responsible for the payment. Just today (5/8/19) I received an itemized bill from Dr. Stephen. I've never experienced this before with any doctor or insurance company. It's extremely frustrating. Dr. Stephen did a great job with my son's extraction and made my son and I feel very comfortable; however, because of the added billing frustration I will never go back to this office. read more
