Cavities that were not filled properly, crowns that were placed crooked with cement left all over my gums and much more. They never spent time looking into my issues. I recently had a cavity refilled that they originally filled. The cavity was already broken after less than 2 years and they did not take out the entire cavity. They left so much of it under the filling i almost needed a root canal. This is a terrible office where they barely care for your teeth. They are lazy and quick with everything that they do - cleanings, fillings, crown palcements. They care about getting as many patients in and out of their office, to make as much money as possible. If you care about your teeth, do not come here.

But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.

However, I noticed that the office has been scheduling my appointments with both the dentist and the hygienist on the same day . During the exams, the dentist would simply say, "Everything looks good. You'll have your cleaning with the hygienist," which always resulted in a copay for the hygienist visit. I've seen the hygienist twice this year and had another appointment Tuesday which I needed to reschedule but there were no openings available. Therefore I specifically requested an appointment with the dentist ONLY for my regular exam and a basic cleaning since I had not yet used my insurance-covered cleanings. When I arrived, I was asked to pay a copay. I questioned why, since my insurance covers two cleanings each year. That's when I was told I had been scheduled with the hygienist after seeing the dentist, even though I never requested that appointment. The office had added it because there was an "opening." I explained that I only wanted to see the dentist, as I had originally requested. The office lady told me, "That's fine, but the dentist isn't going to do your cleaning. He'll only do X-rays and examine your teeth." I replied that I understood my insurance covered cleanings, and she repeated, "I know, but the dentist doesn't do cleanings." When the dentist examined my teeth he said, "Everything looks good. Just wait and you'll see the hygienist for your cleaning." The assistant then told him that I had canceled the hygiene appointment, so I explained that I had only requested an appointment with the dentist for my exam and cleaning. His response was simply, "Well, I don't do cleanings," and he walked away. I've never experienced this at any other dental office. If the dentist does not perform cleanings, that should be communicated clearly when patients schedule appointments, especially if they specifically request to see the dentist only. To make matters more concerning, while I was waiting, I overheard another patient checking in who had also been scheduled to see the hygienist after the dentist. In the past, I have had so many bad experiences with dentists ignoring pain signals, rushing through everything without pausing to explain anything, and even recommending unnecessary invasive procedures. Thank you so much to Joanna, Stephanie and Dr. Armin for helping me today. I went in with a lot of embarrassment and worry after neglecting my cleanings for two years, expecting the worst. The entire team was kind and patient with me, and I had the most thorough exam and cleaning I have ever had in my life. They have all the new equipment and offer excellent explanations. Stephanie the hygienist was so compassionate and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. Joanna even came in and reviewed the exact cost of the recommended treatment plans, including what is covered and not covered by insurance. Truly transparent. I told her that I was only interested in a regular dental cleaning. Her response was that they could finance the treatment and that I could make monthly payments of about $95. At that point, I felt that they were more focused on selling additional services than listening to what I was requesting as a patient. I politely repeated that I only wanted a regular cleaning. She then said she would speak with the doctor. After speaking with him, she returned and told me that the doctor could perform a regular cleaning, but that I would need an antibacterial treatment that would cost approximately $75. I was honestly surprised by how many obstacles were being placed in front of a simple routine dental cleaning. In the end, I told them that I had other important things to take care of and that I would come back another time--which, unfortunately, I will not. The entire visit felt like a waste of time, and I never received the cleaning I had scheduled and expected. My experience left me feeling that the priority was generating additional revenue rather than focusing on the patient's needs and dental care. I hope future patients are given clear options and allowed to make informed decisions without feeling pressured into treatments they did not request.
