Sonia made my experience very difficult. Did not say thank you when we hung up she just hung up on me no manners. Did not fax over my referral then I asked her to email it to make it easier she said she would, she did not. Had to call back several times every time she said she "was going to send it" never did. Finally got a hold asked her to repeat the spelling of the email we gave her to confirm if she was sending to the right one that's when she hung up on me mid call. From there she would not answer the phone even on my refferal doctors EMAIL NEVER CAME ON MY PERSON EMAIL END OR THE DOCTORS END. WE EXPLAINED TO HER TIME & TIME AGAIN I COULD NOT RECEIVE TREATMENT WITHOUT THIS REFERRAL EMAIL SENT. So then she finally answers the phone & says she'll send it on text she sends me a blank referral form! It's almost laughable that she sent a blank referral form. She did it on purpose because she enjoys making things difficult for people. As a result of her not sending the email & playing games sending me blank refferal form I was forced to leave my appointment. From the time I asked her to please send over the referral to the time. She finally sent the correct one almost 2 &1/2 hours had passed. Walang sakit (No pain in Tagalog) Literally the most painless prophylaxis (cleaning) I've ever had in my adult life! Usually, I'd have dentists forcefully tug & scrape my chompers and gumline repeatedly over & over again, giving me a tension headache in the process and wishing the cleaning would be over already. But not with Dr. Yong DDS. With much dexterity, he handled the sonic scaler like a master painter, cleaning each of my teeth w/o my feeling any discomfort. Kudos to you, Dr. Yong! Service was good. The staff was one short the day of my appointment, due to someone having a migraine, but I was seen at or close to my scheduled time and my appointment didn't take long at all. The waiting room is small, with only magazines and no TV to pass the time. Parking is at the Cerritos Towne Center. Cerritos Towne Center Dentistry is located on the left of Wal-mart, adjacent to Men's Wearhouse. As previously mentioned, no pain! My pearly whites (I wish. I really enjoy the employees here. They are so friendly and do their best to accommodate your every need. I just got my wisdom teeth out and was a bit nervous because I have never had oral surgery of any kind before. My dentist assured me they numb well. I thought, I'd probably feel a little bit. But no! I felt nothing! And the recovery process was awesome. I have no throbbing pain after. They gave me a list of what to do and some gauze pads to put in my mouth for the bleeding. They even let me keep my teeth lol I didn't think to at first, only wanted a picture, but the nurse lady offered it so I said why not?! So I did. The front desks is just soo friendly. After my surgery they even called me later that day to make sure I was doing okay! Wow! My insurance covered both bottoms and one top. They are going to try to get me approved for my other top. Today was my first appointment! Like Brett said they didn't call to remind you of your appointment, but I don't really mind that. Write down the appointment or keep the appointment card so you don't forget, simple. And who cares if the dental office isn't fancy. I only care about whether or not the machines work and whether the doctors do a good job! I feel often people who switch from PPO to HMO do not realize how drastic it is. My family and I have switched from Dentistry to Dentistry (4 times already) trying to find the best one for us. HMO really sucks. Everyone dealing with HMO health insurance feels like the offices are trying to swindle them. There is just a serious lack of communication between HMO, dental office and client. TIP: pretty much if you're scared of getting ripped off, always bring a copy of what your insurance covers, then their won't be an issue when the bill comes around. BE PREPARED. A lot of dentists slack on HMO patients and that is very unfortunate, but the people here were very helpful and considerate. I had a very good experience at this Dentistry. I had Candice assisting Dr. Hong, both were very kind and gentle with my teeth. Had my x-rays taken and was told what types of problems I had with my teeth and what I needed to have done and suggestions to what I should get done. First, I needed a cleaning, not the basic one and not the deep cleaning, something in the middle...I forget the name. Dr. Hong first got a general cleaning and then went through each individual crevice to take out the gunk that was in between my teeth. It looked and sounded like she was being really rough with my teeth but it felt like NOTHING! I never had such a thorough clean, not even for the deep cleaning I had at a previous dental office. What really got me to write this review was how helpful Candice was. She answered all my questions and took the extra time to buffer my teeth, which she really didn't have to. She made them so white!!! :) they were pretty yellow before... :( haha Most offices throw the buffering stuff on...graze past your teeth and you're done...barely any effort, which always made me very ERGH! I scheduled my deep cleaning here 3 weeks ago for today, Sat. Oct. 20 because that was the earliest time they could see me. Showed up at my scheduled appt. time only to be told that they CANCELLED my appt. and gave it someone else because I did not call them back to confirm my appointment yesterday. I was not told that I needed to confirm this appt. when I first made it. I assumed I would only have to call if I needed to cancel. I waited 3 WEEKS for this appointment!!! On top of that, I waited A MONTH for them to get authorization from my insurance company to approve the procedure. There aren't any available appointments for several weeks. My insurance is changing on Nov. 1st..I can't even go to another dentist before then for a deep cleaning because I am authorized to get it through this specific dental office. I'm going to have to pay out of pocket and probably won't even get another appt. for another month. This isn't a dentist where you have a relationship with a single dentist who has know you for a long time. You see whichever dentist in their long lineup of dentists is available to see you. Don't go here. This place SUCKS! The main dentist (Korean guy named Dr. Yong) is the worst and I'd like to punch him in the Korean balls. I sat down to do a cleaning. He walked in and told me to open my mouth, then he put a needle in my gums. I was kinda surprised by it because I didn't know I needed a shot to numb my gums and he didn't give me any warning. Then he pulled on my cheek and shook it like I was some farm animal. Then he said he'd be back and he went into the other room to work on someone else. He came back 10 minutes later and used the scraping tool on my gums. When he had the cutting tool in my mouth, he was asking me questions and telling me really loudly "You need to floss more!" He was just really unprofessional. I remember I got mad and I stared right into his little slanty eyes. Never in my life have I ever wanted to poke a guy in the eyes as badly as I did right then. Then when he was done, he just said OK done, and left the room. I had to ask the assistant to call him back out so I could ask him a stupid question. Don't go here. This is the worst dentist by far. Nice local place. I go here mainly because it's close. The dentist and staff are really nice and do a great job when it comes to cleaning and check ups. The decor is a little plain sometimes...but it's a dentist office...so yeah. They always give me a bag with floss, tooth paste and a tooth brush. That cool of them. The waiting area is kinda small. No tv there...just magazines. They sometimes tend to push a deep cleaning every year. Not sure if I need it, or if they just don't want it to go to waste and get money for it. It's covered by my insurance yes, but I don't have the time and want to deal with the numbing if I really don't need it. Parking is shared with other small businesses. Plenty of spaces. Not an issue. The staff are really nice and one in particular, the dental hygienist, who's name escapes me, but was very nice and would tell me things like how long a procedure would take and how at any time if I needed a break, which in my case was needing to go to the bathroom like twice, would be ok. No need for feeling uneasy or queasy because the dentist worked fast and efficient. One star off for times when I would be left because the dentist would work simultaneously with 3 patients at one time. My start with a dental HMO was not so good. I was extremely disappointed with this dentistry center. I found them when I joined a dental HMO and they were the closest dentist practice. My opinion did not get off to a good start when I missed my first appointment. This is the only professional medical/dental/etc. business I've ever had that doesn't call to remind you of an appointment. I thought it was a fluke at first, but I'm now 3/3 in not receiving a reminder. When I did actually make my appointment for cleaning and check up, I was not impressed with the facilities at all. First off, the fluorescent bulbs in the lobby were out (or doing that typical fluorescent bulb flickering and dying act), which made filling out paperwork a strain. To my surprise, this was not the only light fixture 'out'. Others in the practice area were also dim. The entire practice looked makeshift, cold, and uncomfortable. The equipment looked second rate. I was given xrays on the 'backup' machine because the 'good' one was out of commission. My 'cleaning' consisted off a quick buff and fluoride application - the worst cleaning I've ever had (Dr. Hwang). The ceiling was patchy with water stains. The 'offices' looked to be separated by office cubicles. I was told I had a cavity. I was told I would have to pay $75 to have it fixed (even though my HMO benefits showed much less), and I made an appointment. I missed it because I didn't get a reminder, and I'm in no hurry to go back. Instead, I'm planning on switching providers or insurance all together and going back to a different dentist for a cleaning and checkup just in to the new year (2 months from original appointment). My experience was enough to make me not want to go back. Cold, uninviting, and unfulfilling. I cannot recommend this dentistry to anyone. read more

Had a dispute on a bill, my insurance company told me that my procedure should cost me $235, Cerritos Towne Center charged me $490. When i brought it up to them they refused to adjust it to the correct price. I asked them to call my insurance while i was there so it could be straightened out and they refused. I wasn't even asking for my money back, I was only asking for credit back to my account for future work, but they would not listen. On the advice of my insurace company i have filed a grievance witrh them and switched dental offices. I first visited Cerritos Town Center Dentistry several weeks ago after I broke a tooth. I didn't have any pain but the tooth was sharp and needed a crown. They did not have any availability on the day I first contacted them but they saw me 2 days later (the soonest I was available) to grind down the sharp edge on my tooth. I was happy that they were able to work me in. The next week, was my first of two appointments for a new crown. I didn't know what to expect because this was a new experience for me. The staff was nice and explained what they were doing as they worked. There was some grinding, impressions, and I was fit with a temporary crown. Their friendly bedside manner allowed me to be comfortable despite my anxiety with the process. Today (2 weeks later) I received my permanent crown. Thankfully, no needles or grinding. They simply removed the temporary, adjusted the new crown for fit and cemented it in place. They also cleaned my teeth. Front Office - 5 Stars - They were friendly and professional Dentist - 5 Stars - She was pleasant and more importantly, gentle Professional Staff - 5 Stars - The two girls, I assume dental hygienists, were both exceptionally nice. It's a vulnerable position to be in when laying on your back with a bright light in your face and someone else poking around in your mouth with sharp things. First time here and they were very accommodating. It was easy to schedule an appointment. I got an appointment the following week. The staff members were professional and friendly. The office was clean and had up to date x ray equipment, unlike other offices I've visited. During the appointment I asked if I can do a deep cleaning last minute, because my insurance was running out the end of the month. As recommended I always go for a clean up every 6 months and for the past year I have been to two general dentist and Dr. Cheng has to be one the most patient and kind dentist that I have ever had. She will take her time explaining to you everything and answering every question or concerns that you have. The staff are very nice, funny, and they make you feel very comfortable. They really work well with your schedule and try to accommodate you as much as possible. I probably switched an appointment I had with them like three times in one month and they had no problem with that as long as you let them know in a reasonable amount of time. Furthermore, I recently had to have all my wisdom teeth removed because two of them were bothering me and since I was already doing two then why not all of them at once. Dr. Yong, who performed the procedure, made the extraction as painless as possible and I honestly did not feel any pain at all. He also let me wear my music player so I can listen to my music while they performed the extraction. Also the assistant was very kind, nice, and attentive during the whole thing. To my surprise the next morning I received a call from the office just to check up on me and ask How I was doing? I really appreciated that. With that said prior to the procedure I did visit another Dentist to get a second quote and the other dentist was charging me $200 MORE of what they were originally charging me for the extraction. Everything they told me and what they were going to do was the same that I was told at Cerritos Town Center Dentistry and they were still charging me more. Dr. Cheng is very gentle and precise, and I always walk away after a cavity-fixing procedure (and I've had quite a few) with minimal discomfort or pain. Wondering if she had some kind of special equipment or technique, I asked her why getting my cavities fixed by her was less painful than other dentists. She laughed and said she didn't have any special equipment, but she had consistently scored the highest marks in her dental school class on dexterity exams. I guess it really does pay to have steady hands if you're messing with people's teeth and gums. I've been going to Dr. Cheng for quite a few years now, and she has dealt with a whole bunch of my dental issues. Cavities, wisdom teeth extractions, tooth whitening, treatment for an ill-fated racquetball accident that left a tooth discolored and almost required surgery (don't ask), nightguard...but now my teeth are in fine shape, and I have her to thank. I recently moved up to the San Francisco Bay Area for work, but I still wait for visits back home to socal to get my dental work done here. I typically schedule my dental appointments in September and March, and my last couple of visits to Dr. Cheng's office went without any fuss. The office certainly looked like they had their act together. I think she became the new owner of the Cerritos office in May or June of 2010, so if there were any initial transition hiccups from the business handover, it looks like they've been handled. I don't think anyone actually LIKES going to the dentist (unless they're some kind of masochist), but since we all have to, you might as well go to a good one. read more

I went into this place was 3/3/16, new patient and first time visit. This was an initial appointment to get quoted for costs for some of the work i was looking to get done. I arrived 15 min early for my appointment. After waiting about 10 min after my scheduled appointment time (3 pm) i finally asked when i'd be able to see the dentist. To which Odessa replied by asking: "do you have to go somewhere?" I told her no, but even if i did why is it a wait when there is no one here? She told me we are getting the room ready for you. After about another couple minutes they led me to the back. I then waited another 8 min before anyone came by to begin my appointment (approx 3:18 PM). I did not get the name of the assistant but she conducted x-rays and took pictures of my mouth. The entire experience was very uncomfortable as she would put the device into my mouth without giving me a second or two to adjust my tongue. She finally poked the top of my mouth pretty badly with the device and i had to tell her she needs to be a little bit more gentle. She was friendly, which helped but it felt like it was her first time doing this. The dentist finally saw me for about 15 min, she was nice enough. She gave me a bunch of recommendations without really any reasoning behind it. Just kept saying you will have problems later in life. Finally Odessa came back into the room and tells me the insurance i have is not very good because they don't have very good customer service. She said she had been on hold for 10 minutes and that it was COMPANY POLICY to not remain on hold for more than 10 minutes. Due to this reason she would not be able to tell me what my insurance company would cover and what my costs would come out to be. I told her, that i understand its a long hold time but it is part of their job to retrieve that information. I took time out of my work day and would expect you to complete your job. She said either way i wouldn't be able to get any work done today as they were extremely busy. Mind you, they have 2 elderly people waiting in the lobby and 1 person besides me in the back area. Odessa promised to e-mail the costs as soon as possible. I did not receive a phone call or an email from their office in regards to this so i decided to give them a call on 3/9/16. I began to call them at 1:45 PM and it just kept going to a vm. I did this continuously till somebody answered. My call was finally answered at 2:12 PM. I asked if they were really busy and the girl replied that we take our lunch from 1 - 2 PM. I asked her what about from 2 until now and she said we received no call and seemed to not care at all. Even though i had been calling them repeatedly. I asked her about my visit and the email they were supposed to send. She said "Oh you know what, someone is actually working on that right now". I asked her is that what you guys do with all your patients and she said no we are just really busy in an extremely unprofessional tone. I asked to speak to the person in charge and of course, it was Odessa. Turned out she was really busy and could not speak to me. The female dentist was the reason i gave 2 stars, she was rushing to clean my teeth, i felt that she did not address my main concern when she told me there was nothing she can do. I came here for the second time to finish the other left part of my teeth for a deep cleaning and the staff here is so sweet and nice =) you walk in and the front desk people will tell you to sign in and you just wait for your turn. Today I spoke with Desy and she was making small talk with me and I felt very welcome :3 we went over how much the costs would be and she confirmed with me that it was $290 for a filling and deep cleaning. She noticed they didn't put the filling down so she went right ahead and jotted it into the notes. When it was finally my turn to go in for the cleaning Dr. Richard took care of me and gave me advice not only for my teeth but for my overall health. He can be kind of curt sometimes but you gotta understand he probably gets annoying people like me all the time who suck at cleaning their teeth or haven't had insurance in like forever so we end up with messed up teeth lol. Anyway, his lovely assistant Eileen was very nice and she took care of the last part after Richard cleaned the tartar off my teeth. He also showed me how to floss properly to avoid getting tartar buildup since I was doing it wrong. Anyway when that was all done I just had to pay da bill. Oh by the way, you won't be left with questions after your visit because for my first visit an awesome assistant named Odessa briefed me in what was gonna happen in my future visit. She told me that the cleaning was gonna be $200 for the left side and that they could only do either one quadrant at a time or a whole side at once. You can't do both and get it over with or else your face is gonna be numb and effed up :( she answers all of your questions and her name sounds like a cool DJ who I just heard of last year lol. I had a great experience here. The staff were nice to me, starting pleasant conversations. I had to come 4 times to get my cavities filled and get a crown molding. I've never had a crown molding, so I was quite nervous on how it would feel in my mouth. However, I was very impressed at how real and smooth it feels! Have been going to this dentistry for the past 15 years maybe even longer and have never had a problem. They have had many different dentist come and go and they all have been pretty pleasant. They finally got someone that does wisdom tooth extraction and I must say he is pretty amazing. I had very minimal pain once the anesthesia wore off but my the next day I felt back to normal. I was so pleased and surprised by this because I had a wisdom tooth extraction by another dentistry and was in pain for weeks. Would differently recommend this place if you have a sensitive mouth :) read more
