What a great company! We were visiting Sioux Falls on a family trip, and we needed to rent a couple of bikes. The communication was clear, and the staff helpful. Fair pricing, and they delivered the bikes to our hotel (we didn't have a car). The owner made sure everything worked out for us, adjusted the seats, ect. Great folks. They rented me a hybrid bike for two weeks when I was in town. They dropped it off and picked it up at my hotel at my request, and accommodated me when I wanted the rental extended. I just want to say that I am absolutely floored by how good their customer service was. I rely on my ebike to get me to places on a daily basis and brought it in to have the back tire looked at. They found two holes in my tube and another hole in my outer back tire. Unfortunately, I was at this time on a very low budget and could not afford much. Instead of being like, "Well, that's too bad, we can't help you" they worked on a solution that matched my budget at the time. They were able to work with me financially on getting a new tube and outer tire put on so I didn't have to walk my ebike 3 miles home. I've found a place I feel like I can bring my ebike in for service on a regular basis now. Not only were they professional but also very friendly and personable as well. 10/10 Would recommend service to other bikers. read more

TLDR: If you are buying anything cheaper than 1500 go elsewhere. They seem to just haphazardly repair any entry level bike. They seem so rushed to fix one problem that they cause another. I wish I could rate this shop higher, everyone here has been very professional and friendly. However, I can not help but feel taken advantage of. About 1 year ago I bought my first real mountain bike from Harlan's at a really good price (due to the frame of the bike being an XL and not fitting many people). At the time I thought this was a great deal, but I have had nothing but problems with this bike. When I first bought the bike, the brakes were improperly installed. After this was "fixed" the brakes worked fine for a while but were extremely loud. Then, this summer I needed a wheel replaced after a crash and they installed the tire with the tread the wrong way. This isn't that big of a deal if it were the only problem, but it also took them 3 tries (and me 3 1 hours round trips across town) to get my brakes correctly installed again. On their first try they did even have the caliper fully bolted to the frame! Finally, after getting all of this sorted out I went out onto the Sioux Falls bike trail to go on a casual ride with some friends when at about 4 miles in, stopped at a rest stop thankfully, my front tire exploded (which was just installed by them less than 24 hours before) causing the bead on the tire to be shredded. At this point I no longer think I got a good deal on an entry level bike, I think I was sold on a bike which has so many problems it will cost more to fix than I initially paid for the bike. Again, the people at the shop all seem like great people. But, if I were to do it all over again I would buy from somewhere else. UPDATE: I brought my bike to them today before I went to work to fix the tire and brake (the screech was back). I didn't get a chance to ride it for any substantial amount of time until I got home later that day. When I was leaving my house to put the new tire through its paces I didn't get down my driveway and the screeching rear brake was back. Looking at it the rotor you can see a pulling/flexing of the rotor causing the screech. I will be bringing my bike back tomorrow morning. This will be my 7th (1 hour) round trip in 5 days. At this point I don't know what to think. I just want to be able to ride my bike safely. read more

I highly recommend Harlans bike shop , one of his mechanics fixed a squeak my bike had since it was new that 3 other bike shops told me was my seat! His shop is thorough and gave my bike a once over fixing things other shops ignored, it performs far better now than when it was new!!! read more

My mom and I came to town for a weekend to do a 65 mile bike ride. We found out about Harlan's bike shop and decided to rent bikes there. The entire shop was friendly, helpful and considerate. My mom had a very old helmet and they let her borrow a newer helmet free of charge just so that she would be safe on the ride. Their customer service was exceptional and prices were reasonable. This happen over 5 years ago and I forgot about it until I spoke with somebody who had the same problem with them. The staff at Harlans sold me a bike that was to small for me. By the time I realized I was riding a bike that was to small for me I wouldn't have been able to return it. They must have been trying to get rid of the previous years bikes to make room for that years new bikes. I still own the bike but don't ride it anymore and bought a bike that is the correct size. read more
