Has there ever been a moment in your life where you feel like the hand of god was guiding you? I felt Him in Sip and Bite at 3 am on a Friday after my friends and I went dancing. We sat down in this tight diner and were amazed at the activity and bustle around us, despite it being so late (or early, depending on your timeframe). Our waitress was so kind and sweet despite being rushed; she moved as swift as a coursing yet stayed as calm as a yogi. The wait time was minutes before she asked us for our order and then 15 minutes from when we ordered to when we received our food. I tried the vegetarian burrito with hash browns. The burrito was good, but the hash browns were nothing short of divine. They were not your normal hash browns; they were softer and lighter and more seasoned. Incredible. I left so content and happy. And confused as to why I hadn't gone there sooner. We tipped 30%. I'll be back for sure! read more

While my co-workers and I were waiting to be seated the weekend we ate at Blue Moon Café, we saw two of our other co-workers who mentioned they were going to check out "Sip & Bite" in Canton. The following Monday, one of them said the food was typical diner food in a dive diner. This sparked my interest because I love to try these type of places! Plus they've been in business for awhile! Anyhow, for any other local people from Hawaii, this is Baltimore's version of "Like Like Drive-Inn" in Honolulu minus the local island food but you get what I mean, right? Been going here on Monday nights for a few weeks with some friends. The staff is friendly and funny. I have been eating the burgers lately and they are wonderful. The beef is fresh, and the roll is fresh and crisp. Fries or rings are both good. The blue plate special encompasses several different choices of great value and portion size. You get a entree, veggie, roll and sweet tea all included for $11.95. Excellent price for a lot of food. Fresh, fresh fresh...... Modern decor, small in size but big in flavor, and personality. I like the different kinds of music they pipe in.... Last week it was Reggae, Bob Marley. This week more along the lines of alternative. Something always different. They do have an ATM. The booths are a little tight for tall or large people but if you sit in the rear the booths have higher table tops, though no open table and chairs. They do have counter seating. Old school style. Since getting to MD I have been to Sip & Bite 3 times over the last few weeks. I really love this place. Sip & Bite is everything a diner should be. Independently owned, always busy, and the food is great! I've tried their whole gambit of food already: great breakfast, awesome burgers, and even some of their crab cakes. All fantastic! And if you've read any of my other reviews, you know that I'm a guy who loves to eat. The place has a great vibe. Whether it's 2pm in the afternoon or 2am in the morning this place is buzzing. People are happy to be there, I suspect because they know they're in for a rockin' meal! I can't speak to parking as I always just walk there from my friends' place, but the meals themselves are very reasonable. I've been to a couple of other diners since I've been in MD and was getting discouraged. Sip & Bite reminded me what a killer diner should be like. read more

After watching this local favorite being showcased on DDD, we decided to make the trip up to Baltimore and give this place a try. The place was crowded, considering we got there after 1 PM and we waited in line outside (first come first server) along with the others. This is a tiny little places with tight 4 booth seating. But the folks looked happy and the food looked good too. We were finally seated after a 20 minute short wait. Our waitress was nice and explained to us the items on the menu. I started off with coffee - which was better than regular diner coffee, as in it was not overly bitter but tasted as if it was made in the last 15-20 minutes! for our meal we ordered crab cake sandwich and The Boston Street. Both were delicious and more human size portions as compared to the chain diners. The pancakes were soft and yummy. Tho they dont do hot maple syrup :( The crab cake was a winner - perfectly done and good to taste! The fries were a-okay - probably coz they were a bit cold - must have been sitting on the plate for a few extra minutes before being served. The place was busy and our waitress was spread too thin (I guess) so we did not get prompt attention from her. But she was quick once were were able to get her attention. The Sip and Bite is the perfect illustration of why Baltimore is ultimately a better restaurant town than Washington DC. There's nothing like this in Washington DC. Not really. There are some close facsimiles, but they ain't the real thing. DC is littered with impostors, modern or upscale versions of what a diner is. (See, "The Diner" in Adams Morgan for reference) The Sip and Bite is the real deal. When you imagine what a Diner should be, this place springs to mind. Formica booths, counter service. Coffee served in thick white cups, by no-nonsense elderly women, and plenty of it. It's great diner fare served quickly. No muss... no fuss. The hash brown potatoes are awesome! Food tasted great I had the legendary crab cake , the service was slow, the waitress was so friendly it's just non stop busy. The thing that's disturbing is the cleanliness, bread open and exposed next to the toaster or discarded . Station with pans of food exposed no lids , the staff rarely washed there hands ,one cook had on gloves the other cook didn't . Oh I love a diner like this! This is what a diner is, but it's even better than that. The wait was rather quick, the aroma had us salivating, and the food did not disappoint! Hands down the best waffles I've ever head, except for literally Belgium waffles IN BELGIUM. The crab cakes were dope and worth every penny. The pineapple mimosa was tasty and the right combination (orange juice just isn't it.). Those homefries are LEGENDARY and the pancakes were top-notch. Last night, I was so hungry I decided to take a risk getting Simple breakfast food a 16 year old could cook... and they can't even do that. Made a special trip here to try this place. Heard good things. Came in around 1:30-2pm on Saturday. Seat yourself. Busy but a few spots open also. Promptly greeted and given a menu. Good came quickly and was piping hot. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Delicious. Everything tasted fresh and prepared perfectly. TL;DR: Ok food, small portion, worst customer service. Had a Reuben here once, quite good but a bit expensive for such a small portion. Return for the second time and order via UberEat, and they did not have the ingredient to make the sandwich and demand me to cancel the order on my end and lose the $27 for two sandwiches. I asked them to contact the UberEat people because I was busy that why I ordered delivery, and they rudely say they can't and hang up. I mean what the hell. You cannot pick up the phone to call the delivery third-party provider? I mean just shut down your business for Pete's sake or get your listing out of UberEat. Their pancakes are a good size and fluffy. Their French toast is good. I ordered the stuffed French toast with strawberries and whipped creme. But I must admit I have become accustom to IHOP's brioche style stuffed French toast. So my first visual experience with Sip and Bite's was underwhelming. But it tasted just as good. The Chesapeake Benedict was my favorite of the bunch, but they were all delicious. Our server was friendly and welcoming. I found this one and their menu was so ridiculously long that I didn't think the food could possibly be that good. I did a little more research and saw that it has been on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives for their crabcakes. So I went... the service was EXCELLENT. Such a cute, small diner! Came here with my boyfriend, and we ordered the Small Bites Combo (chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, pizza fries) for an appetizer. It was actually a lot of food for an appetizer, which was a nice surprise. Everything on the plate was delicious, and they give additional mozzarella sauce on the side, which was great. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and my boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches come with a large amount of fries too. Horrible communication and mediocre food at best. I ordered pancakes w/ cheesy grits and boyfriend got the crabcake omelette through grubhub. First of all, I never got the cheesy grits delivered. When I tried calling the restaurant 6 times in the span of 2 hours, all of those calls said that the line was busy and that their voicemail is full so I need to hang up. Honestly, I've never had such horrible communication problems with a restaurant before. On top of that, we were very confused by the crabcake omelette because we did not see any crabcake anywhere. So we were wondering if there were maybe crab bits inside the omelette itself, but that took a lot of convincing to do. At best, it felt like we could smell something crabby in the omelette and there were some crunchy bits that could have also been egg shells that got in to the omelette. My first time ordering from this restaurant. Ordered the chef salad and it was okay. Not the best I have ever had, but not the worst either. Definitely was not AT ALL impressed with the fruit salad that cost $4.00. It included maybe one banana cut up (not the best fruit to include in a fruit salad that has to be delivered), a few sliced strawberries, and blueberries (I believe). The bacon was paper thin and the server never brought my toast. Don't be fooled by the fact that Guy Fieri was here, it only proves he's clueless. I ordered the Chili Cheese Dog, Dr Pepper float, and we split the spinakopta. All of it was fantabulous. Don't make the mistake of overlooking this place. Hands down this was the best chili dog I've ever had. I have a friend who travels the country looking for the best hot dogs and I am making sure I tell her to stop here if she's close to Baltimore. Review is long overdue, but this is one my favorite restaurants in Baltimore City. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorites are the Eastern Shore (crabcake, fried egg, bacon sandwhich), the NY strip steak with eggs and homefries, and their cream of crab soup. I had seen something on Facebook about an Epic Burger (I think was the name) I was looking forward to trying (burger, crabcake or softshell, and onion rings all together in a sandwich), but our waitress had no clue what I was talking about. Surely you don't expect me to pay for my meal after treating me this way". Instead of apologizing and offering to comp part of the meal she starts making a scene & turned the situation around to make it look like I was in the wrong. With no response, I said "I'm done" and walked out. My friend said "I can't do that" stayed behind and paid. She said they didn't offer to comp the meal but offered an apology. The male waiter said to her that "since the show, it's been a curse. We're overwhelmed". Employees are overworked, and complained about the clients. STAY AWAY. Sorry Guy Fieri....YOU GOT THIS ONE WRONG! Update: Per the owners request, I called her to discuss. She apologized and offered to mail me a gift card for the amount of the meal we paid. My good friend practically lives next door to this place and brought me here for a later breakfast. I was a bit skeptical but I am so glad I went. The service is always friendly and quick. The food is always amazing and authentic. I love the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict and the Chicken Souvlaki platter. I have also had the spanakopita and a few other things.
