I'm sad to say that the folks at Sip & Ship have gotten a lot of business from me lately. Not sad because of them, but rather because I've had to ship so much stuff in the first place! In fact, the folks here make an otherwise annoying task much less grating. They provide a variety of services here, from private mailboxes and USPS/UPS/Fedex shipping to gift shopping and food. When mailing packages, they'll help you evaluate various options to lower the cost, and will even help you repackage and resize if it helps lower the cost more. They do charge a small service fee (a percentage of the shipping cost), but this is expected - you're being serviced here after all. If you don't mind researching things yourself, you can do the price comparisons and label printing online to save money. But hey, they know your name here, and if anything does go wrong, like when UPS damaged one of my items recently, the good folks here will take care of you. Another nice thing is that they have a stamp card program here - mail 10 packages with UPS/Fedex and get the next one under 10 pounds free. read more

And they got gift boxes to my team spread across 3 states in time for our work Zoom holiday party. AND I got myself a coffee each time so I had the full "Sip" and "Ship" experience. Ok like the coffee is totally 2 thumbs up. Like the lines can be long and seat space is like limited. Can be like confusing when you look upstairs toward the loft it like looks like a 2nd level to sit maybe it's just me but it's not more seating. Wish they had more space dig the concept. If I could give them I would... I have been shipping stuff and drinking their coffee and sometimes eating their food for over one year and each experience has been close to perfect. I am writing this review because I read a couple of negative reviews about their prices or that the items did not show up. First of all, the prices are fantastic compared to the time it would take you to go do these things, and as far as it not showing up there are so many places in the mailing and shipping system for things to go wrong but I can guarantee you it is not these guys. I had two FedEx overnight packages to my doctor in New York that did not get there but it was not these guys fault, it turns out that FedEx had a problem with their distribution system on the East Coast. You can be highly confident that you will get excellent service and value here. FYI, I do not know the owners, I am not an owner, and I'm not friends with anyone who works there. read more

The coffee and food are awesome, the gifts are mediocre, the mail service ranges from meh to HORRIBLE. They checked my ID maybe 1/6th of the times I picked up my mail, and it was almost never someone I had seen enough that I would believe they recognized me. Not at all secure. Plus, their markup on shipping is obscene. They wanted over $10 for books that would cost $3-5 to ship at the Post Office. No thank you. I understand that they have to have SOME markup, but 50-70% is a bit steep. Only ship there if you are desperate and can't go into the Post Office or directly to FedEx (about a 5 minute walk away) or UPS. Worse, one of the managers was verbally abusing her employees at Christmas time, was incredibly rude to us, and was parked in one of their "15-minute" spots and refused to move to allow us to pull our car through. "You'll have to back out." Back out??? INTO MARKET ST??? That's not safe for ANYONE. Not for the person in the car, not for people on the sidewalk, not for people driving in the street. We closed our mailbox as soon as we had obtained a REAL secure box at the Post Office and changed our address and have not set foot in there since. read more

The baristas have no training and can't pull a perfect shot to save a life. The manager and owner degrade their staff in front of customers. The store is constantly changing employees, so nothing ever goes right the first time. No one remembers you or what you order nor do they care. My biggest pet peeve about this store is when someone brings a box to drop off, the manager and owner and even staff just point you to where the drop off area is without taking it from you with a smile You have to pay for your package to be picked up and you might even have it lost! Thanks guys! I really hope to see this place close down in 2018 or just change the ownership and management. Your company is a joke. I wish I couldn't give a star at all. Had to get something shipped in a hurry, so I walked in with my item not sealed or packed. The kind folks at the register understood my rush, and very quickly got me the best shipping option (with insurance!) for my needs, assured me everything would be packed & sealed safely, and got me back on my way in just a couple minutes. Sip and Ship serves up a fantastic cup of coffee, wonderful pastries (including from Mighty-O) and has a coffee shop vibe like none other. The store is kind of a mix of a UPS store, a gift shop and your local coffee shop in one. Talk about a genius use of space for a residential area. The cafe portion is top notch, the drink was a wonderful coffee drink, the doughnut was fresh and bursting with flavor. Later in the day, I returned to drop off a prepaid UPS package. Just got thoroughly scammed by this place. They quoted me $23 to ship a box. Woman rings me up and the total is $31. I have a confused look on my face, so she tells me "oh yeah, the box is 8 dollars". 8 dollars! For a used piece of cardboard that someone else's mail came in and they got for free. On top of that they also charge a significant service fee, so just go to UPS/FedEx/USPS directly and you'll definitely pay less. Enjoy the 8 bucks. Definitely won't be back. read more

The Ballard Sip & Ship is so much more than a coffee shop, or a clothes shop, or a post office it's all three! When you first walk into the Sip & Ship you smell ground coffee, but you see loads of gift-style goodies like Ballard-branded notepads, soaps, bags of coffee beans, t-shirts hoodies and more (I'm wearing my Ballard tee right now). Then, you look behind the gift section and there's the serving section of a coffee shop, some comfy chairs and a friendly woman smiling at you. To your right, you see even more gifts (these ones funkier, like badges and novelty toys) and a shipping counter. So, basically, you choose your gifts, you wrap them and post them at the counter, and then you sip a Latte safe in the knowledge that your goodies are in the safe hands of these lovely staff. Shady business practices when shipping items via USPS. I went there today to get postage for an item, and was given a quote on postage, based on weight. I paid the quoted amount, and when the postage was printed, I realized that they charged me 42% more than the actual price of postage. I asked if this was a mistake, and was told rudely, by the male employee, that this was the cost of doing business. I asked for a refund, and was told that they don't do refunds... and if I wanted to try, I would have to come back and talk to another staff member. Reading the reviews now, I realize many people have been tricked by this hidden fee. I see responses from the business saying that they are "transparent about their fees," but this is not the case. Being transparent would be telling the customer, "postage cost this amount, but we have some fees, so we'll charge your card this other amount." What they did was the opposite. Do yourself a favor and walk around the block to the post office, go to FedEx down the street, or go to UPS down 15th... They have better customer service and won't price gouge you. read more

I spoke to a woman who I assumed was the owner today who was very friendly and helpful and who assured me that they could look after all my needs, but unfortunately needed my husband to notarise a document. I left. My husband returned after work only to be charged $10 per document to notarise and was advised that he needed to write all language or another $28 fee per page would also be charged. The notary had to be reminded several times to do it correctly (forgot to stamp a page, wrote the wrong information in the section and I have just discovered it wasn't initialed as a correction either but who's nit picking...). We are also just talking about certifying a photocopy is a true and accurate copy of the original here. Not buying a house. She was not pleasant throughout the encounter at all. As my husband was leaving he was then told he needed to add 2 more stamps to each letter. This was totally inaccurate information as a quick google and weigh can tell me that the amount was correct. Thankfully he was so furious with the entire encounter that he didn't buy more stamps, he just left. I appreciate that this took time for their staff member. I appreciate that I should pay for a service but this price per page seems spectacularly unreasonable. Go somewhere else you might ask? Well I will next time. Unfortunately we have not been in the USA long and had no idea about the process here (coming from a country where the service of a notary is a public (free) service provided to the community. Woman who I assume is the owner - thank you for being friendly and offering a great little store in my community. I wish you all the best. We will however not be returning here. read more

Sip and Ship's services are usually very reliable, but in this hectic time (COVID+Christmas), they really let me down. I dropped off several packages on Dec. 17 to be mailed USPS Priority. When I checked status several days later, they showed no record of having been scanned into the system. I called Sip and Ship on Dec. 21 (they are currently closed on Sundays), and the person I talked to tried to lay the blame on USPS, saying that the postal service is "overwhelmed with package deliveries" and often "failing to scan" their packages. Well, lo and behold, I got notice later that day that the packages were finally scanned in at Seattle's distribution center. It doesn't take a genius to see that Sip and Ship had been sitting on my packages (at Christmastime!) for FOUR DAYS, and that they are the ones who are "overwhelmed." It obviously took my phone call for them to locate and send out my packages at all, but they didn't admit their mistake. What REALLY bothers me is how easily they shifted the blame to someone else, even when they knew it was their fault. Own up, guys!! read more

Years ago, I regularly used the Ballard location for a client's shipping needs and always found it to be a pleasant experience. I loved standing in line and admiring the gifts for sale, as well as the opportunity to grab a snack! It's a pleasant and happy environment - and your blood sugar will never drop while you're waiting with the cafe there! Recently, I learned that they are launching a package pick up service, which is a great asset to my services as a professional organizer for my clients! I love coming here! I've unfortunately been moving back and forth a lot over the past couple years, and if anyone has ever been in the same boat, you know how frustrating it can be to have to constantly change your address and have to keep everything filed away in your memory. I was tired of having to think about it each time my address was needed and decided to open a mailbox here. I'm so glad I did! While everything else has been topsy-turvy and super stressful, I know I at least only have one address to keep in mind and that I have a secure place my mail and deliveries can be held at. The few shipments I've done here have always been reasonably priced, and it's nice that they do not charge for tape like they do at the post office or UPS store. They'll even put your prepaid return labels on for you so you don't have to wait in line. Plus they serve HERKIMER coffee!! I can come in to check my mail, return that jacket I ordered on Amazon that's too small, have a tasty latte, and pick up a birthday card for my bff. How many places can you think of where you can check 4 errands off your list at once? Sometimes I even come in when I know I don't have mail, just because it's a pleasant place to be. :) read more

He took my coffee order, wished me luck, and without a thought, I downed the doppio and departed. Last week, I came in to find Elijah back on the grinder right where I'd left him. Sip & Sip pretty much rules. I love this business to pieces. Where else can you buy postage, ship packages, have stuff like posters and postcards printed, and eat cookies and drink coffee? Nowhere else! That's where! When you walk into this shop you're greeted by someone at the mail counter. In the 5+ times I've stopped in I've always gotten a friendly, "Hello!" And you can't walk more than 5 feet in any direction without stumbling into some awesome items you can't live without. Stationary, pet accessories, trinkets, home accessories, and more. Basically this is the place you should go when you need your morning coffee when you've just realized you forgot someone's bday. Stop in here and while they brew up your latte you can buy a gift for someone, have it wrapped and shipped, attach a car and voila! You're a thoughtful, "well organized" person. I do believe that this is the ONLY place to get your official 'Ballard' T- shirts, hats, hoodies, and onesies, which I have purchased as gifts before. Lemme tell ya, they went over VERY well! They've got great coffee, a great assortment of gifts, cards, lotions n' potions, knicks, knacks, and loads of other fun Ballard stuff you can't get anywhere else. The staff is GD friendly and I love that there's always a dog or three out front, jonesin' for a pet. Oh yeah, you can also mail/ get your mail here as well.. What a wonderful spot. The barista was so so nice and the coffee is excellent! The space is so warm and cozy and welcoming. It's like a Third Place. However, when they wanted to charge me $1 each page to create an electronic scanned copy of a job application, I have to put my foot down and stomp one door south to FedEx where it cost me $.10 a page. Yes, it's a brilliant idea to combine a mail center and coffee shop. Yes, the place is adorable with a fair amount of seating and fun trinkets to buy (that are also wayyy overpriced!) Yes, they have free Wi-Fi. Yes, there is exclusive parking in back. And yes, they are very friendly... But let's be realistic, $1 to scan a piece of paper! A couple weeks ago, Sip & Ship sponsored Skillet being at their lot on a Sunday (after it went rogue), and I stopped in. I was early so I explored the interior and found cute elegant modern traditional cards, stationery, gifts, etc. They was also adorable bags, knick knacks, and Ballard merchandise. Located in the back of the store was the barista, where I promptly ordered a Cafe Vita drip and a mini Mighty-O donut . FYI's~ * Large wooden recliners are located on the sidewalk in front of the store * They do offer shipping services * A few candies and sweet items are for sale * Would be a great place to pick up a hostest gift or something small for a present read more

Don't get me wrong- the service is excellent here, and the coffee is also usually top notch, so I'm not complaining about either of those things. What I take exception with is the owners' penchant for nickel-and-diming customers within and inch of their lives. They will charge you for the floor under your shoes here. Watch them closely, because they are not very forthcoming about their charges. Looking around the gift shop part of this schizophrenic little business, you'll encounter little items you've seen around town or online selling here sometimes selling for literally two or three times what they go for elsewhere. KaChing! It's their place, and it's no crime to love money, but the whole experience shipping and buying here has come to leave a bad taste in my mouth. UPDATE: I received a message from the proprietor of this local business, who were kind and probably a little exasperated with my review. Thinking about it now, I think that my snarky tone might have been a little more rude than was necessary. I stand by my experiences there, but I want it understood that I was a little more flip than was necessary, and I don't want you to judge an entire business based on some jerk's single review on Yelp, mainly mine. Look at the entire page for this business and decide for yourself if I've been unkind or too dismissive, and if you do decide to stop in, you might find that your impression of the place would be different than mine has been. We love Ballard and love small businesses but have never found Sip and Ship to be anything other than semi-functional. Yes, you can drop off your prepaid packages. Yes, you can get a palatable coffee. But, I always feel like the staff is doing me a favor not doing their job. I once called ahead about a notary, arrived, checked in, and then waited while the barista/manager/notary made coffee drinks for 6 people that arrived after me. Today the same barista/manager/notary (blonde/tomboy/you know who you are) almost knocked us over as we were coming in the front door in an apparent rush to get to the coffee counter before us to sneer and act "put out" when ordered coffee. We get our mail from here and the people that work there couldn't be nicer if they went to Nicer Univeristy and got a Ph. D in Niceology. The gear they stock is fun to look at. They have great little things to mail to your friends and lover(s). And their coffee stand makes an OK drink. This place is a great addition to Ballard and makes me want to go check my mail. If and when I stop having a box there, I'll still go just to mail stuff because the shop has such a good vibe with fun things to look at, nice people to help you and yummy things to eat. read more

This morning's tire debacle somehow ended up with me going here and making my mood go from uber-gumpy to super relaxed and content. The BF and I walked up here from Les Schwab and needed two things: coffee, and we had a couple things to mail out. We were greeted right away by a super friendly guy who greeted us, took our mail, and pointed us in the right direction for coffee. The super friendly barista made me a delicious latte, the BF got some drip coffee, and we split some super tasty squash harvest bread. We grabbed a table, listened to the nice music and relaxed. Excellent place. HERKIMER COFFEE! I've been on the hunt for good coffee in Ballard since moving here and Sip and Ship's coffee stands out from all the coffee here in Ballard. A bunch of places I've been to uses coffee that's really acidic in my opinion which is great for those who like it, but it'd like some variety. Also I like Herkimer a lot. Anyways- staff is always friendly and helpful. Service is great. Mailing is very convenient. We were going to go to the post office today but they closed early on Saturday, so we came over to Ship and Sip. They provided the same service for us and were super friendly! Also they have a bunch of gift ideas you can buy including cards. They even sell wine! Super awesome place. Has some seating on the main floor, outside and in an upstairs mezzanine area.
