I have been driving by Sips Cafe and Mike's Ice Cream on Gallatin for years and finally made it point to stop in on a recent weekend...and for the most part, pretty happy I did. Local, classic style cafe serving up all the coffee and espresso classics alongside pastries, ready-made breakfast treats and of course, house-made ice cream! I popped in for a cold brew and pastry, and got just what I was after. It was around 9am and I had just left the gym, so I decided to skip the ice cream, but it did look and sound tasty...so I will have to update this review once I partake in the sweet goodness of a good scoop or two. For my cold brew, I added almond milk and for the pastry, I went with the ham and cheese. The cold brew was good, nothing spectacular, but it hit the spot. The pastry was warmed up, which was a nice touch. The dough was flaky and the cheese melty, so I was not mad at it at all. Service was a bit odd, not exactly what I was expecting from a local coffee spot. While it was not unfriendly, I would not call it friendly either. It was very transactional, which I know sounds odd given it was a transaction of sorts...but just didn't do it for me from a service perspective. The space has it's own vibe with checked flooring, retro sofas and chairs with cafeteria style tables and chairs and a fountain and plant wall next to the high top table. All of which were a bit worn. Which I take is probably part of the aesthetic, but still worth noting. I love my local coffee spots, and try to support them as much as possible. Sip Cafe was a bit underwhelming for me on my first visit, but I will stop by again at some point. Overall I would give Sip a solid 3.5, which I will push to a 4 without issue.

Staff were all lovely, we ordered to go and sat outside as we had a dog with us. There are tables and chairs with umbrellas which were great in the summer heat! We came early in the morning and went with the Swiss and spinach omelette as well as the breakfast bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich. My partner's omelette he said was really good with loads of Swiss cheese. The breakfast sandwich though we both agreed was the star with homemade biscuit bread, fluffy thick egg, plenty and bacon and cheddar cheese. Each was $7 and left us full! Will definitely be back to check how the coffee is

The coffee was a bit pricey for the taste, honestly. That said, having a drive-thru is a nice touch. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed during the morning rush, but the café itself is huge, definitely a good spot to sit down and get some work done.

I've been to Sip a few times now. The ice cream is always good. Creamy and sweet without being overly sweet. My favorite is the cherry ice cream but they didn't have it on this visit. I ended up going with the horchata ice cream instead. It was sweet with the perfect amount cinnamon. It's like someone took the best food truck horchata and put it in an ice cream machine. Delicious! I also got a ham and cheese croissant which had a good flavor but was served cold which was off putting. I didn't expect that so I took one bite and waited till I got home to warm it up. I wasn't asked if I wanted it heated so I don't know if that's something they do.

Honestly , this is one of the cuter / character giving coffee shops in town . The vibe is chill , they have a few different things on their menu such as ice cream , milkshakes , different types of coffee but I will say , THE COFFEE IS MEDIOCRE ASF. I find myself coming here a few times a month being it's the only coffee shop that is open past 6pm on Sundays and every time I get the same result.. no matter how much expresso I have them add to my latte , it's never good . So with that being said , if you want some solid ice cream or maybe even a drip pour coffee Check it out !! But if you want a really good latte try madtown or dose . 2 stars based off the quality of the lattes considering it is a coffee shop.

I LOVE SIP! Everything about it is just fantastic. They have always made my coffee orders perfect, and they offer so many options. I find myself going several times a month. It's also convenient that they have a drive through! My favorite is an iced caramel oat milk latte, but their pumpkin pie just came back and that's worth a try too. They also make all their pastries from scratch! My favorite is the chocolate chip muffin. You can tell they use real butter. I would eat their ice cream every single day, every flavor I have tried is scrumptious. I swear you will not be disappointed. They also give a good amount in each scoop. They also make shakes and malts with any flavor you it! I definitely recommend their chocolate chip cookie dough, nutter butter, and pecan praline! There is a bunch of seating inside and out. Trust me and give sip a try! I do wish they had a punch card or something similar.

I really shouldn't have moved into the neighborhood where this little cafe of ice cream & coffee heaven exists. My waistline is not going to survive it. Nor will yours if you give them a try, because you will return, especially for their ice cream. I've tried the Salty Honey (my favorite), Loaded Butterscotch, Praline, Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate...something or another, and Nutter Butter (my other favorite). This stuff is for real - homemade Mike's Ice Cream - and it's to die for. It is also not low fat, not low sugar, not low quality, whatever. It's worth every calorie-filled bite. I just have to limit my visits. My sister is obsessed with their hot-fudge sundae and shakes. Neither of us have ordered a coffee drink yet. I don't see it happening anytime soon since we can't tear ourselves away from that ice cream, but I imagine their coffee-making is just as adept. The service is always fantastic. The employees are super chill and happy and incredibly fast. They don't skimp on portions either. What is it about happy people serving you a big ol' cup of dreamy ice cream that is just so very pleasant? Seriously, go through the drive-thru here, get that ice cream, and enjoy a little cup of heaven to sweeten your day. You won't regret it!

Really nice baristas. It's a bit sparse atmosphere wise but not a bad place to get some work done.

The first thing I noticed was the line, which was about 12 people deep and stretched very close to a busy road. I was thankful to have other adults with me because managing multiple young children in that situation would have felt stressful. My nephew was in a stroller, and we were glad he was. Parking was easy. We found a spot in the lot, and it looked like there was additional street parking nearby. The line moved fairly slowly, though once we ordered, the ice cream came out quickly. I was surprised that two kids' cones with one topping cost about $12. The kids' cones were enormous, easily 2-3x as much ice cream as I would normally give my children. Thankfully, I watched someone else's order before ours arrived and was able to remove some of the ice cream and put it into a separate cup for myself. I didn't notice any high chairs, although I wasn't specifically looking for them. The ice cream itself was good but fairly average. The highlight for me was the cute building and old-fashioned atmosphere. Overall, it wasn't the best fit for our family. Between the cost, oversized portions for young children, and the logistics of waiting in line near a busy road, there are other ice cream spots in the area that I would personally choose first...the product isn't worth the stress.

Serving a diverse menu of American classics from old-fashioned hamburgers and hot dogs to creative dairy treats, Bobbie's has been in business since 1951. In fact, known as Harper's Dairy Dip until 1986, this is the third oldest eatery on one of America's longest roads (Highway 70) in continuous operation (fourth oldest overall). The good thing is that you'll enjoy your experience, there is plenty of outdoor seating, and the service is always excellent. Employees stay positive and relaxed despite the stress of growing lines and constant orders coming in. The downsides include long lines, notoriously impossible parking, and average food. Even the soft serve ice cream isn't good, and that's difficult to mess up. I ordered a Heath Swirlie over the weekend, and I could barely find any toffee. And the soft serve just wasn't good. The hamburger was equally mediocre, harkening back to a simpler time but not something that would wow you in any way. Go here for the history and to keep them going, not for high-quality food.
