We had so much fun gaming at Sip and Play. We enjoyed games, pizza, and bubble tea. I highly recommend you check it out!

This place was awesome ! I love places like this because it allows you to just put your phones down if you want and just play games and enjoy your time with friends family , significant other etc . It's only $15 bucks total $5 for deposit and 10 when you get there for 3 hours of playtime . Me and my friends had a ball . Everything was clean and the guys who work here are awesome . Very kind and sweet and they take very good care of the place . I will definitely be back! Also their food is pretty good and they have vegan options and the fries were soooooo good . I loved it

Great store with very competitive pricing, the friendliest staff, a clean, well maintained play area, and a decent selection of games. I play Modern here every Thursday and this store is by far my favorite place to play Magic: The Gathering. The tourney organizer, Jonathon Li is friendly, helpful, considerate, and really cares about the people playing Magic here. He will wait to start if someone is running late, will work with the players to figure out proper judge calls, and even lend you cards or a whole deck. The store itself is very well lit, maintained, and most importantly clean. We all know board and card game enthusiasts can be on the smelly/ less hygienic side, but this store is thankfully better maintained. The bathroom is spacious and cleaned regularly with some cool artwork. The staff is friendly and helpful. They've always been nice to customers from what I see, and will regularly bring your order to your table if you're busy playing a game. All in all I couldn't recommend a better place to play board games or Magic: The Gathering.

Came here because we were late for an event we were supposed to attend in brooklyn. Loved the board games and cafe concept.  The selection of games was extremely varied. However,  some of the games had missing pieces. The hungry hippo had no marbles, and the 2 operation games we saw had no pieces.  I hope they will check their games and remove those that are missing pieces and can't be used.   In the end, we played Jenga, battleship, and exploding kittens. The atmosphere and music were relaxed. There are families and older adults enjoying the games.  They have cafe items, boba, and a limited canned alcohol selection. We had the brown sugar boba, which was good.  Though we didn't eat the bacon they were frying smelled tempting. Didn't really like the lunar passion fruit cocktail but that may be since I don't like seltzer. The wine was good. On weekends it is 12$ pp for 3 hours of gameplay. All in all I would come back if in the area.

When you and your friends want to hang out but don't know what activities to do, why not stop by a board game cafe, pick a game from a huge selection of games and get cozy with some food and drinks. Tucked away near park slope, the space is clean and there is a good selection of bubble tea, coffee and food options. I opted for a Cafe Au Lait and an Italian Panini which was delicious. The staff here is very kind and accommodating to our needs. The variety of board games that you can choose from are endless so you'll never be bored; whether its trying out a new game you've never heard of or sticking to classics like codenames. There's a fee to sit down and play board games but its totally worth it. this is a great hangout spot and you won't be disappointed! bring all your friends!

Nice and calm place to chill and good music. The drink werent very good tho, my jasmine milk tea waa very watered down nd wasnt mix well. The pale ale or beer was also eh, but the lunar new year lychee was good. The games were plentiful. and enough to play for lots of groups. Each person is about $8 for an hr(if i remember correctly). there was bathroom but i didnt get to go but its nice to have the toilet option.

    Giant Uno

Really cute spot with many board games options, including classics like Scrabble, Catan, Jenga, Uno etc. as well as fun new games. They also have regular card decks at the counter if you ask for them. The food and drinks were really good - ordered a sandwich, matcha latte and bubble tea. Went with a date, would recommend as a great indoors date spot for rainy days :) The staff were also super nice and gave us extra time Will be back again for sure!

My friends and I dropped by Sip and Play for some board games. It was 8$ for 3 hours with countless board games. A wonderful hangout spot which is accompanied by a nice little cafe with boba and great drinks. There is some complimentary water with water cups a little past the cafe area if you don't want to buy a drink. The staff was very friendly in giving us instructions on how the board game cafe worked and in giving us drink recs. The only negative was that the music was a little loud - but other than that, an absolutely great spot! We had a ton of fun playing code names and sequence. I highly recommend this board game cafe if you are looking for a chill spot to hang out with friends and play some board games.

    Gem Blenders

Great food, great place! Really enjoy playing coming from NJ. My sisters and I always get the chicken tenders with fries... fire! Usually come by to play Gem Blenders however I can see myself driving over to play one of their many games.. TTG lover haven

I came here last month on Sunday, 11/1 with my husband & friend to meet my fellow yelper Mei C for our monthly Yelp Date! We come to support another local business in another community. A perfect Sunday afternoon playing some board games with family & friends. No screen time (phones). Some good old fashion fun. We were worried it would be too cold which was why we wanted indoor table- thank goodness as it was windy that day! I had emailed for reservations (according to their website) for in-door table for 4 people at 11AM. When we arrived, the staff didn't check for reservations (so I guess they didn't need it?, we were the only people there; so maybe they knew it's our group)? She explained that we order food/beverages at the counter and she would bring it to our table while we can pick out the games. 3 hours unlimited play is $7 per person. Drink menu is extensive; there is something for anyone (even me, because I'm not a coffee drinker and picky with teas) We roam the cute shop; oohhing and ahhhing over the displays and games. They have cute game decors painted on the walls. They have such a large selection of games of all types (cards, board, strategy, trivias, puzzles and more) that we felt like kids in a candy shop LOL Most of the games we have never heard of which was fun to try. Some we picked we heard of (commercials when we were kids) but never played before. We grabbed a table all the way in the back (but not in the back room). Later during our first game, she came with our drinks and a loyalty card with stamps. If we come more often & earn more stamps, we can get a free drink or game time. I wish they asked us beforehand because hubby&I could have share a card since he don't go out often-- so I would get 2 stamps (and then earn it on my own). But yeah, that could be cheating as it would be faster in earning the 10 stamps. We did see the owner dropping by the other tables to chat them up (he didn't get to come over to our table); it is always nice to see the owner checking around & actually chatting with customers rather than just a simple "how is everything?" & walking away. He really did seem interested in his customers having a good time and share his passion for playing games. Some of the games were so fun that I'm thinking of buying but not sure if worth it. I would come back with friends for game night one day.

Once again supporting our local restaurants. Stop by this fairly new Establishment to take out two ice green mango bubble teas for my hubby and myself. The tea was refreshing for a hot summer day. The merchant were very welcoming when I entered the establishment. We had a little chat about the current events which was lovely. I will certainly come back to this place. Thank you for delish tea stay healthy and safe. Oh btw prior to coronavirus you could of played board games in this establishment however at this point board games are available to rent awesome idea!!!!!

Alright I'm not usually a 5 stars for one item kinda reviewer - if I'm just getting like one coffee or tea and not a full meal somewhere I usually start with a 4 and bump it up as I try more things and continue to have a positive experience. With that said, I make exceptions for places like Sip N' Play specifically because of fantastic service and such a cute vibe. First off they had hot winter melon boba tea, which is my favorite as someone who loves a night time boba but can't do caffeine late. Plus hot boba in the winter is such a joy. Again, I normally wouldn't give 5 stars yet for just one bubble tea (which was very well made by the way), but the staff and particularly the guy was just SO nice and friendly that it really made me feel at home. On top of that, what a fun place! They have at least 100 board games. I'll definitely look forward to coming back to this place to hang out in the future.

We decided to check out Sip N' Play after seeing them featured on Instagram, and I'm so glad we did! If you've been to The Uncommons (near NYU), you'll love this board game cafe. More space, wide variety of board games to choose from, and you can grab food, boba, or a beer while you play. My boyfriend and I walked in about 2 pm on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table. Since we came on a weekend, it was $10 per person for 3 hours - which is not bad at all! They have several shelves of board games to choose from toward the back of the cafe, and there are unopened board games for sale as well. The remaining tables quickly filled up later in the afternoon, so if you plan to come with a group, it would be a good idea to make a reservation in advance. The owner, Jonathan, greeted us as we were playing a game of chess, and he was super friendly. We learned that Sip N' Play opened during the pandemic, and it was nice to see that this place was ~poppin~ (love supporting locally owned businesses!!). 100% would come back again - such a hidden gem in Brooklyn!

Had such a great time that it didn't even matter that the staff forgot the coffee I ordered. Walking distance from Washington Square Park where we took the most romantic stroll afterwards. One year later, celebrated our first anniversary at the same spot and the same table. It's 2025 and happy to report we're getting married in October! This will always be a special place to us.

I love board game cafes! So I was excited to try out this place after finding it listed on two…read moredifferent NYC blogs. First, if you're planning to come here on the weekend, RESERVE YOUR SPOT ONLINE AHEAD OF TIME!!! And I'll tell you why... My friends and I decided on Friday afternoon that we wanted to come here the next day (Saturday). Me, being the planning-type person that I am, immediately hopped onto their website. I found a tab for "reservations", so I checked it out as I had a feeling that they might be pretty busy on the weekend. Sure enough, for our group of 6, they only had availability between 11am and 4:45pm or at 9pm. That was it! We were hoping for an evening slot, but we all decided to settle on the 4:45pm slot and just go have dinner afterwards. Before continuing, it's important to note that each person pays $17 for unlimited use of the board games for a 3-hour duration. When booking online, you have to pay for the entire group's "game time pay" up front in order to get the reservation. So, since it was 6 of us, I went ahead and paid $102 to secure our spot. **They are clear that they do NOT do refunds so make sure you can actually make the time slot you are booking!! Upon arrival, we gave them my name and they showed us to our reserved table. They gave us some quick instructions on what to do with the games when we were done with them, then they left us to have fun! So why is a reservation important? Because I can't tell you how many people we watched get turned away because they showed up and the place was already at max capacity! Our table happened to be right in front of both the door and the counter, so we watched a constant flow of people walk in and then immediately walk back out. Another important thing to note is that they don't allow outside food or drinks, but they also don't serve food... They have coffee drinks available to order as well as a few smoothie options and bottled/canned beverages. Additionally, they had some bagged chips and a few pastries, but that was it. So if you book a slot during dinner or lunchtime, you might want to ensure you eat beforehand as you won't be eating a meal here. The setup inside was a little chaotic. Very crowded with little space between the tables. Also, the staff seemed to not really care to want to be there. They weren't really attentive to the patrons there nor to each other, for that matter. At one point, the trash can was overflowing and I watched one staff member struggle with it and yelling for help but no one came to assist her... Final verdict: If you love board games, definitely come check this place out!!! Reserve your spot ahead of time and bring at least 3-5 people with you for maximum enjoyment!

Not the metalheads, not the nerds, not the weirdos, just 1 kid on my block - he was peculiar so I called him Dark Mark. Quite befitting a player was he as the Satanic Panic of '83 was just upon the horizon. You just needed to point and Mark would start marching forward. Turns out you need more than two players and a Dungeon Master so dark Mark and I marveled at the dice and bought figurines and watched everything D&D available. Monsters and Mazes was just released, I think it was Tom Hanks first film, did anyone see it? Then there was the Saturday morning cartoon, it lasted 4 seasons because the kids couldn't get home, apparently they couldn't leave the amusement park. Now 2026 I am both Dungeon Master and player character in our campaign The Lost Mines of Phandalver. The name is Goreville Van Dungeon and I've amassed me Fellowship of a Rogue, a second human fighter, a Cleric and a high elf Wizard. We've battled many foes, obtained many magical potients and golf and it all started by the purchase of The Players Handbook at Hex and Co. We read it together, Althea and I that is. We bought coffee and 20 sided dice and wrote our spells and new adventures. So it's never too late to enjoy RPG's with imaginative friends at any age! While very promising in its…read moreconcept, as modern society is in dire need of more third spaces, Hex and company fails to deliver in every conceivable metric imaginable. I came to this establishment with my boyfriend and things got off to questionable start immediately. The server at the front required us to make a reservation, ok no problem. What's questionable about this is that there was clearly space available for two scrawny people such as ourselves. Whatever, man, do your thing. When the time came for us to get seated we were blindsided by a $15 per person surcharge, what the heck! It would have been courteous to have mentioned that when we made our reservation 45 minutes prior. I realize that one cannot contribute to malice what could also be contributed to stupidity, but it came across as a way of swindling and strong arming us. We tried finding a game of dominoes to play while we waited, but alas, there were none available for purchase at the front counter, no big deal, we were certain we would find a game of dominos in the seating area below as there were multiple gargantuan shelves stacked to the ceiling, filled to the brim, practically bursting with board games, looked great from afar. When the time came for us to sit, an aura of sheer panic and despair began to set in. We couldn't find a single game of dominos, no big deal, we were sure that one of the servers would help us out. PSYCHE! We asked multiple servers to help us find a game of dominoes, and they either didn't help, gave confusing advice or a combination of both, very cool! You would presume that people employed to work at a board game themed cafe would know where certain board games are, but no, not this fine establishment! In fact the organization of the entire establishment was severely lacking. To begin with, the tables where people are engaged in board games are practically pressed against the gargantuan and bursting shelves of board games, this makes browsing extremely truncated! If you are introverted, you may burst into flames because you are forced to hover over strangers and interrupt their board game to get what you're looking for, that is of course if you're lucky enough to find it. For example, a heated game of uno was sheepishly interrupted by a stranger seeking something behind my boyfriend. Every guest is a hostage in this establishment, because of the owner's incompetence, very cool. Since we nor any of the disheveled nerds employed in this establishment could find a game of dominoes, we opted instead to play a game of chess, simple enough right? not at Hex and Company! The first set was missing multiple pieces and was damaged to the point of not being useable, the second was some niche four player "update" of chess, which is an insult in its own right. Third time was the charm though, and we played some good games. The food was pricy but inoffensive. The water service, despite giving patrons agency, was severely lacking in the fact that one could only use the smallest cup imaginable, what the heck! Upon leaving the establishment, a server told me to, and I quote "have a good one" how could I possibly have a good one, when you couldn't even find a game of dominoes for us to play. Absolutely ridiculous, they really rolled a 1 on this one.
