My friend booked this for a weekend, and our check-in was extremely smooth. Given the weather was really nice, we were offered a seat in their outdoor heated patio. The decor is incredible inside the space, and the staff are equally kind and attentive. We got the grand Vanderbilt tea option, and tried the English breakfast tea, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey. The sandwiches were all rather delicious, though I found the scones a bit dry. The desserts were small, but also delicious. I wouldn't come here if you're extremely picky about afternoon tea food as the food was pretty standard. Overall, I think this high tea is quite good for the value, and the staff were always stopping by to check if we needed a tea refills. Did you know that tea lights for their name from the lights that were lit beneath tea pots to keep tea warm? I learned that here at Brooklyn High Low! I had a morning to kill before a work event and wanted afternoon tea! This reservation was not easy to get and I was lucky to snag a less desirable 10am ish reservation. It was cold outside (all the inside seats were full) but they provided warm, fuzzy heated blankets so it wasn't much of an issue. I wish I'd been able to pick which tea I got but the house black tea they served and picked for me was good. The sandwiches were delicious but I found the desserts to be lacking. Service was wonderful. There's only one bathroom and it was very clean and aesthetic, like most of the decor. It screams maximalist and vintage, very fun. I booked the $65 experience for two for an outdoor covered heated area (stated in the reservation) that I needed to provide my credit card for. For context, day of is quite cold and snowing. We arrive, get seated in the outdoor area with a stray bird also enclosed with us, get provided with heated blankets, and we get largely ignored. It's genuinely freezing out in the garden. We got the cardamom vanilla tea which was a favorite, and the orange blossom tea which was oversteeped and bitter. Pastries itself were okay. We get handed the check unprompted, and when we call a waiter over to get boxes for our leftover food because we are freezing at this point, we get forgotten. We end up leaving the rest of our food and go inside the restaurant to pay, where we are reminded that we can leave a tip. Overall, mediocre tea experience with ok food, terrible service. There was a stretch of time when I was super into tea, so I was excited to hear about Brooklyn High Low. My friend was hosting a small afternoon tea for her birthday. My interest was raised even further when she let us know that Brooklyn High Low asked us to pick out our pot of tea in advance. The back patio area is so cute and charming. The weather was just gorgeous and perfect. We were seated in the back corner, which was cozy albeit a little bit difficult for everyone to maneuver around each other as we were a bigger group. We were served our teapots (individual teapots, each different and with character) and tea cups with warm scones, cream, jam and lemon curd. I got the Scottish Toffee Pu-Erh which was so luxurious and gourmand. Then, we were served the whole tower of tea sandwiches. My favorite tea sandwich was the egg salad one, though all of them were tasty. I was glad I skipped lunch, as this was quite a bit of food and we had sandwiches left over. The service was very attentive, and I appreciated all of the cute decor and touches. They let us stay even longer than the time limit for the tea service. Came here for a Saturday afternoon tea during a visit to Brooklyn. We were informed upon arrival that our dining time would be 90min. We selected 3 teas (fave was the Mexican spiced chocolate). The sandwich tower was quite a spectacle for the 3 of us - there are 8 different finger sandwiches + 1 scone each + 4 dessert pieces each, including a sugar cookie, chocolate covered strawberry, and mousse. Two girlfriends and I spilled some tea over afternoon tea, and Brooklyn High Low was perfect for that. The teas were delicious - we got the Raspberry Decadence, which was a delicious, dun twist on Earl Grey, Blackberry Sage and Cardamom Vanilla. For the Grand Vanderbilt, you get bottomless pots of the tea of your choosing, and two of us did opt in for a second pot. The teas were delicious and flavorful, and you could ask for a side of milk, sugar and/or honey. The sandwiches, biscuits and desserts were all delicious. Some of the sandwiches, like the Egg Salad, Truffle Chicken Salad (which was a current special), and Cucumber & Dill Cream Cheese were a bit bland, not going to lie, but then the Apricot Jam, Thyme & Mascarpone sandwich wa absolutely divine. I couldn't have the Smoked Salmon with Capers tart but my friends said that was delicious. Of the desserts, the chocolate mousse was fantastic - very light and not too sweet. I was worried The Secret Garden (a covered outdoor space) would be too cold in December, but the space heaters and electric heated blankets they provided were perfect and kept us cozy. The teapots were also over little candle warmers so the teas were steaming hot the entire time. Brooklyn High Low really figured it out! Definitely recommend getting a reservation in advance, we got a res a week out and the indoor tables were already all booked. Granted. More of a 4.5 for me but I rounded up. First off, the decor absolutely cannot be beat if you're looking for that antique-y, Alice in Wonderland charm. The place is filled with teacups everywhere, it's amazing. Price point isn't cheap but honestly really reasonable for afternoon tea. If you're new to afternoon tea, this would be a good intro to it. Went for the Grand Vanderbilt service, meaning you get to choose your own tea, which I recommend. I wanted to try the Scottish toffee and was really disappointed they were out, but the Coconut Truffle tea was really unique and delicious as well (if you like coconut macaroons, you'll like this tea, and went great with the desserts. My friend ordered the Decadence tea, which was also very good (esp is you like Earl Grey) but I think we both preferred mine a bit more. Food wise-- well to be honest, I'm never all that impressed by the food that comes with afternoon tea no matter where I go, but the food here was pretty solid. Nice variety of sandwiches (bread to filling ratio was a bit high but not outrageously so), bread was soft and fresh, only sandwich we didn't like was their daily special (which was basically sliced plain radishes on cream cheese). Scones were large and soft on the inside. My favorite of the desserts was the chocolate mousse, although the chocolate covered strawberries were also good. Def come hungry! I had a very special birthday meal at this restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and able to explain everything on the menu. I especially enjoyed being able to add a tiara onto my meal. The tiara itself is a very high-quality, which I appreciate. I chose the largest tea which came with soup and a crumpet in the beginning. The soup was a very refreshing carrot ginger soup. I also enjoyed the sandwiches, desserts, and scones. They also brought over a special plate that said happy birthday on it. That made my day extra special. Another important thing to note is that you can bring your own bubbly beverage. They gladly uncork your beverage and provide glasses. My one piece of advice is that if you are fixated on having a particular kind of tea, it may be worth it to call ahead and see if they are in stock that day. We were able to purchase extra time beyond the (included) 2 hour time period at a fair price. Was so nice to find this venue in NYC. All of the guests, many were from NYC, thought the venue and event were absolutely amazing. Before booking this event, I must have contacted 10 other places and feel so lucky that I ended up hosting our event at The Parlour in the Pink Room. The Ladies that ran the event were so pleasant and accommodating. The way they spaced the different courses worked out so well with the group. We had space to mingle and play a few Bridal games. When I made the reservation the confirmation stated outdoor, which was not evident when I booked. I reached out and unfortunately on the day we wanted it was the only option left. They were very communicative and explained there would be heaters and blankets provided on a cold, January day. I did ask if an indoor table became available, to please let me know. The day before our reservation , we were notified an indoor table was available and we were delighted. Their follow up was appreciated. The day before you also can order other teas than the black tea included. The indoor place is small with 5 seating areas. You feel as if you are entering a whimsical, quaint tea room. There are tea cup and pots everywhere from the ceilings to every nook and cranny. We had the classic and was surprised at how much food there was and how good it was. I made a reservation two months in advance because I love afternoon tea and this was highly rated. We had the Vanderbilt experience which was THE PERFECT amount of food - 7 different tea sandwiches, 3 different sweets, 2 massive scones (1 for each guest) that had the perfect amount of crumble, and 2 pots of tea (also 1 per guest). These are also not your average sandwiches - each one had something extra in it to elevate it! My favorite was the truffle chicken salad sandwich - absolutely delicious! I received a text the day before from staff asking for my tea selection and they were so helpful wi the making recommendations with teas! Their tea menu is extensive so I also liked that we could pick the day before, as it would have taken time away from our experience if we spent so much time combing over the tea menu. The atmosphere is so charming, gorgeous china and antiques everywhere, and the tea service was lovely - excellent sandwiches, scones, and sweets. This place is a gem. I really enjoyed my time here and the only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of the 1 hour 15 minute time limit. I understand they want to turn as many customers, but it just felt so rushed. The staff did NOT rush us, but let me tell ya, that time goes by in a poof! Came here for afternoon tea with friends and it's absolutely adorable here, whether you are indoors or "outdoors". We were in the outdoor section which is completely covered but allows some sun in, and is positively cheerful and decorated with florals and beautiful mismatched teacups, etc. We opted for the Vanderbilt service which included all the tea sandwiches, scones with jam and lemon curd, and some small desserts, as well as a bottomless tea for each person. We were not rushed even though we came a bit late due to parking issues. The tea was ready for us since they asked for our preferences prior to the weekend. We got the jasmine dream, which was a good standard green tea, the strawberry almond green tea, which was a little strange but also enjoyable, the toffee pu erh, which tasted kind of like coffee and was good with milk and sugar, and the sleep ease which was more of an herbal tea with chamomile. Honestly, I didn't really love the tea selection because I felt that a lot of the options were too floral or altered from classic ones (I would have been happier with a regular pu erh and oolong). If you are Asian and used to more classic green and black teas keep this in mind, but it's definitely a personal preference. The scones were fresh and fluffy and I really tore into the lemon curd. The finger sandwiches mostly were not very memorable. I think we liked the ones with smoked salmon and chicken salad, and I liked the dill one as well. The dessert consisted of a macaron, a small serving of chocolate mousse with cannoli cream, a chocolate covered strawberry, and one more pastry for each person I don't know the name of. I was really too full by this point to fully enjoy the dessert, but I do wish there were more standout items on the dessert plate. This is the reason the bill needed to be changed and the restaurant graciously accommodated us. Thank you! It's so nice to experience afternoon tea so I couldn't wait to try this treat! You ring the ring doorbell for entry to the restaurant; the door is locked until an employee let's you in. This is a very cute place. Everything is mismatched, very cozy and inviting. The way each table is position, it gives you an open space concept though allow intimate gathering with your friends. Make reservations on OpenTable and select which tea option you are going for. We made reservations for "the Heights" experience. Highly recommend: immediately order at least one pot of tea while you are deciding what other teas you would like to try. Sometimes tea options won't be available (like Victorian Earl Gray) so be open-minded to try something else. If you need, there is a tea specialist who can recommend tea flavors. We tried Earl Gray with flavored sugar, Apple Sage, and Oolong Orange Blossom. Surprisedly, I loved the Earl Gray the best, because I am not a fan of Earl Gray. We didn't try any other teas since we had sufficient tea for all of us during the time duration. We received a bowl of butternut squash soup first. Afterwards, the triple plate tea tier arrives. It was: - Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Chocolate Mousse, sugar cheesecake pastry - Baked scones, crumpets with herb butter, Strawberry jam, lemon curd, and clotted cream. The best condiments were strawberry jam, lemon curd and clotted cream - Each Guest gets to choose 4 out of 7 flavors of tea sandwiches for the Heights experience. The best is the chicken truffle salad sandwich. - Purple coleslaw salad The bill will arrive at your table 10 minutes before the end of your time without you asking for the bill. With the heights experience, we are supposed to receive a souvenir. Due to the confusion of the bill adjustment, we didn't receive our souvenir. I contacted the restaurant the next day to inquire. They apologized for the oversight and will give us the souvenir, which I will pick up at a later date. I think that as soon as I walked in, it deflated all my expectations. Instead of an eclectic whimsical feel, it was dreary, the floors were dusty and dirty. Plastic flowers, tea cups and posters from the Goodwill were packed into a tiny yard that was surrounded by corrugated metal. The tea was delicious. The sandwiches were mediocre. Went for afternoon tea this past weekend and had a great time catching up with some girlfriends. Honestly for a lot of tea places the ambiance and environment is what you're paying for and I definitely think we got our money's worth here! Despite sitting in the outdoor patio area, it was still very cozy and warm. The decor is really cute and vibrant and the covered patio was actually a great opportunity to catch some much-needed sunlight as well. On to the actual food, we opted for the Classic Tea set ($48) and was pretty impressed by how much food came with it. I think we all agreed that the freshly baked scone was the best part and the jam and clotted cream paired with it perfectly. The Classic set only comes with black tea and all the vegetarian sandwiches but it was more than enough to satisfy us. The only thing that was a little disappointing were the desserts (macarons and chocolate pudding). If you want a little more variety then the Vanderbilt or Grand Heights options would be better. Afternoon Tea is one of my favorite types of experiences, but I didn't get to do it throughout the entire pandemic until recently. My friend and I participated in the "Vanderbilt" Tea Service, which included a pot of tea each, 4 tea sandwiches, purple cabbage slaw, scones, and mini desserts. The cost of this was $58, which is standard pricing. The interior décor was absolutely lovely, with elegant place settings, colorful chairs, pretty paintings, and cute trinkets all over the comfortable, cozy room. There were a wonderful variety of teas, and I chose Decadence, which was a rich blend of Earl Grey, rose petals, strawberry pieces, cocoa nibs, and damiana leaf. This was tasty and fragrant, however I think I preferred my friend's Scottish Toffee Pu-Erh. It was a delicate, sweet mix, and delightfully creamy. For the mini sandwiches, we had 7 to choose from. I decided to order the Truffle Chicken and Parsley Salad, Bacon with Mascarpone Tart, Triple Cream Brie & Fig Preserves, and the Special of the Day, which consisted of plantains and lime. My favorite was the Truffle Chicken. The chicken was tender and well seasoned, with strong truffle taste. I also enjoyed the Bacon Tart, which came in a light, crispy tart shell. The Mascarpone was oh so velvety smooth, and the bits of crunchy bacon were fried to perfection. The Brie and Fig sandwich was also pretty good, though I would have liked more fig flavor. The plantain sandwich wasn't quite what I was expecting and I wasn't a fan of it. The plantains were mashed and had a weird taste to it. I also couldn't really detect the lime, which came with it. A purple cabbage slaw accompanied the sandwiches, and it was decent. It was nicely pickled with a satisfying crunch, though I am not big on coleslaw in general, so I didn't have much of it. The scones came with clotted cream, lemon curd, and raspberry preserves jam. They were round and very appetizing looking, however, were a bit disappointing. While the scones were moist, crumbly, and buttery, I found them to be too dry. The clotted cream and accompaniments made it better tasting. I mean, how can you go wrong with fresh clotted cream and fruity spreads? Desserts included an adorable tiny cup of pudding with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top, chocolate covered strawberries, mini cake with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles on it, and finally, French macarons. Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my favorite treats and they were delicious... Juicy with deep, dark chocolate. The pudding was great as well with vanilla-y, butterscotch notes. The mini cake was a mouthwatering bite. I didn't care for the macaron, because I thought it was chocolate and matcha, but turned out to be mint and I didn't like the combination. Service was good for the most part. Our waitress was friendly, kind and on top of it. There was a 75-minute limit for this tea service, and it is strictly enforced, so we were quite rushed in the end, but in the most polite way possible. So 5 star for ambiance, service and food . The food was so much better than the plaza where went last year for my birthday . The decor was interesting and fun . Jordon and Cosima were so friendly and accommodating , they couldn't do enough for us. They kept saying we want you to feel at home, but I'll add without my having to do anything. . Amazing high tea experience! They had a wide variety of finger sandwiches, which I enjoyed as well as a large selection of teas to choose from. My friend and I got the vanderbilt set, which was more than enough. We couldn't even finish all the pastries between the two of us. Highly recommend coming here if you want to do a friend catch-up or chat about life. The ambiance is so relaxing. This place is reservation only so plan ahead. Make a reservation on open-table! There are very limited spots and seating. They do not take walk ins. They're only opened Friday Saturday Sunday, and spots get snatched up QUICK. I opted to get "the classic" with my friend Amy. It was $48.00+ tip/tax, prices are located on their website for different tiers. We did the outdoor garden seating which in my opinion is more spacious and "Alice in wonderland" compared to their indoor arrangements. They also have heaters and blankets if you get cold. On to the tea set! Our set came with their house made black tea, bottomless paired with either milk, sugar, lemon or honey. A assortment of tea sandwiches, there were 4 flavors and each person got two sandwiches each. Next tier had a scone with jam and butter, and then the top tier was a mousse cup thing and a cookie that tasted like a danish butter cookie. The service was warm and friendly. I adored the tea cups and all of the tea pots they had on display. I really enjoyed the aesthetic and whimsical flair of Brooklyn High Low, I would definitely come back soon with my girlies for a cute date! read more
