Finally decided to check Kissaten Corazon out the other night for Jiji's Jazz Club in the evening…read more I arrived a couple hours after the event started, so the cafe was pretty full when I got there. I arrived just on time to see Brit.'s live performance, which was relaxing and soulful. The crowd and ambience of the space meshed perfectly with the vibes of the event. I ordered the cantaloupe milk with added matcha. The cream top was faintly sweet and the matcha mixed into the milk really balanced out the sweet melon flavor. This was actually the only thing I tried that evening, but I'd love to return to taste their other options. Overall, the atmosphere and drink were 10/10 for me. I love a chill, nostalgic cafe ~ they really don't exist out here, so I'm excited to see the Japanese inspiration making its way into LA.

Walking in, I loved the aesthetic design of the open air cafe. Loved the antique vibes. There was a variety of different seating to choose from such as bar seating and cushioned couches which was nice. Going down the list of menu items I had: - Cantaloupe Milk CT with Matcha: Creamy and sweet cantaloupe flavor. Matcha was solid, but wished there was more of it. - Egg Sando: Pretty good. Lots of egg filling, but wish it was more flavorful. Bread also didn't hold the egg filling well. - Melon Soda Float: Yummy dessert. Ice wasn't necessary since there was ice cream in the cup already. I did some work from here and my experience was relatively decent. There were ample outlets and the couch seating was comfortable. The music could get a bit loud though, but I didn't mind. Only downside was the wifi wasn't great so I had to use my hotspot. This would be better as a place to socialize. Definitely a cafe worth checking out in the Chinatown area!

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the hojicha latte. It was a little on the sweeter side, but I think ordering it half sweet would make it just about perfect. The roasted hojicha flavor came through nicely and made for a much more enjoyable drink. The shop itself is really cute. It has a unique half retail, half coffee shop concept that gives it a lot of character. I also like the convenient location on a major street. While I wasn't impressed by every drink I tried, the atmosphere and concept make it worth a visit. The drinks could be a little stronger in execution, but I might just be picky when it comes to coffee. I have not yet tried the other drinks yet so I'm excited to try something else next time. (I personally do not recommend the thank you latte, but it might just be my unique taste buds since lots of others enjoy it!)

I decided to try something new and went for the Chocolate Forest Matcha... absolutely divine. Rich, earthy, slightly sweet, and so beautifully balanced. What surprised me most is how different the inside feels compared to the outside. From the street, it looks a little gahtto and unassuming, but the moment you step in, it's a completely different world -- cozy, bright, warm, and welcoming. It's the kind of space that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Damo continues to be one of those rare spots where the drinks are memorable and the atmosphere feels like a little hidden gem.

Pro: a good amount of umbrella/covered outdoor seating on the back patio, which has a relaxing ambiance. Cons: the baristas were not super friendly. Barely acknowledged me when I walked into the shop. It's extremely small so it's not really ideal to sit inside. I ordered a cold brew with a non-dairy cream top, and the "top" immediately sank to the bottom in curdling chunks. The cold brew itself wasn't bad but they really shouldn't serve that cream top. Maybe I'd return to try something else if I happened to be in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way.
