Parking here may be difficult to find on the street, but they do have valet, too. On a Saturday afternoon, this spot is packed and quite hard to find a place to sit. Wi-Fi is available, though note that plugs and seating may be another issue. Not every spot comes with a plug, and it's going to be full, so you may need to wait 15-20 minutes. It is indeed a small spot, so if you're looking for a quiet spot to work, this might not be it. The interior decor, though, is quite clean aesthetically and is relaxing to work in. Most good quality matchas start tasting about the same to me in latte form, but the real standout at Damo is what you get for $7-8. Damo is one of my favorite cafes in LA, and definitely has a special place in my heart because it's where I discovered hojicha! Their hojicha is so nutty, creamy, and balanced. It's not too sweet but just enough that it brings out the hojicha's flavor. I've also tried their matcha, which I think is equally as delicious. You can tell Damo uses good quality hojicha and matcha, which is why I keep coming back. The cafe is also super aesthetic and if it weren't so busy, I imagine it would be a decent place to study. I visited Damo in Koreatown this afternoon and tried the Strawberry Einspänner. It was a bit on the sweet side, but overall delicious. However, I was quite disappointed by the lack of decaf options. I am very sensitive to caffeine, so while I enjoy regular coffee in the morning, I always have to stick to decaf in the afternoon. When I asked which menu items could be made decaf, I was told that none of their coffee or matcha drinks have a decaf option. The only decaf-friendly choices available were the Strawberry Einspänner and the Strawberry Tonic. Because of this, I'll only be able to visit this spot in the morning if I want coffee. The first time I noticed Damo, there was line of people wrapped around the corner waiting to get in. And I really enjoyed it! The hojicha tea was pretty roasty and the strength was perfect. The cream was smooth and also had a good hojicha flavor. The hojicha tea was delicious on its own but also great when mixed with the hojicha cream. MATCHA LATTE - 7 My cousin got the Matcha Einspener, and I really enjoyed the earthiness of matcha, but didn't find the white cream necessary. So I tried the matcha latte instead, and it was perfect. This is seriously some high quality matcha drink. The flavor was deep with a nice frothy texture. I would highly recommend. If you're already in this plaza, definitely grab a matcha or hojicha (can't say which one I like more) from DAMO and swing over to Out of Ordi for some salt bread. That combination hits, and I did it twice while I was visiting. I would highly recommend this pipeline -- my cousin/friend waited in line at OOO while I grabbed the drinks from DAMO. We don't usually go to many matcha places anymore because many have either fishy matcha, too bitter, or gritty texture. For those reasons, we are on the hunt for good matcha. No adjustment to sweetness or ice level was made. I'm happy to report that everything said online is true. The matcha itself was had nice grassy notes, a smooth texture, and perfectly sweet. They use Monin syrups as their sweetener of choice. The einspanner layer was thick and similarly perfectly sweet. For the strawberry syrup, it had nice texture of mashed macerated strawberries.
