    New walk in Acrylic Shower

I was in the market for an updated wet space in my upstairs bathroom... Home Depot sent out Sir Home Improvement to give me a quote and to go over everything that I want/ Don't want... the price was definitely high at the first initial quote, but ended up getting it down to a more reasonable price by removing some features and buying my own. The salesman put down chrome shelf for the shower for some reason and said he would have it corrected for me going forward, project manager that came out said he did not change it on the paperwork and still had them down as chrome shelf's so he would fix it... the installer came out and they still didn't have the correct shelf that we wanted down for some reason, but Carter the installer was amazing and got it fixed up for me! Carter is a 1/ million employee that's hard to get these days, his partner and himself had the demo and shower done in 1 day despite some setbacks and hoops they had to endure! I absolutely love the shower that Carter put in, he's extremely particular in his measurements and making sure everything fits and goes together well while looking amazing! Day 2 they sent a floor installer out to put down new floor, the floor looks nice that they used, some minor cleanup issues with the floor install, but there's so much that goes into these jobs that it just happens being human... So far, I'm impressed with this company and I would recommend them and will definitely be doing future business with them as I will be needing new floor and an updated bathroom wet space downstairs next time! Another perk is the energy program that comes free with them, it may not be a ton of savings per year on energy, but anything helps and the technician for the energy program was super kind and professional at his job! Thanks again!

Calking around the window doesn't look great,

I contracted with SIR to replace my tub with a walk-in shower, remove wainscoting, install a new medicine cabinet, light fixture, and hanging cabinet in my small bathroom. This was in May 2024. They were friendly and arrived when expected, but the quality of work wasn't great. These were the main issues: 1) When removing the wainscoting, the guy broke off about six inches of my window frame and a huge chunk of my door frame. He said nothing about it. I had to call SIR and they replaced the frames, but then I had to re-paint the walls. 2) The calk around the window is bumpy and looks bad. 3) The drywall guy decided to drywall my ceiling to smooth out some grooves. That was a nice thought, but I was 20 feet away from him all day and he should have asked me. I would have said no - since he applied the drywall, I had to paint the ceiling. I'd had spine surgery recently and can't tilt my head back very far. It took 4 months before I had healed enough to paint it finally. 4) They installed a small vent in the wall, but the hole was too big and the vent hangs loose so you can see the jagged hole in the drywall behind it. 5) flooring has lines against the grain so it looks defective. 6) I noticed that the workers kept their tools on my new shower floor (my bathroom is small) and I figured they knew what they were doing. But after they were gone I noticed a scratch in the shower. You can only see it up close, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause a problem. A guy from SIR came out to check and said it was too deep for him to fix. He also found another one. He said he'd put in a work order, but it's been several weeks and I haven't heard back from them, so I'll have to call. 7) There was some poor communication and other minor issues too numerous to mention. I will try to load some pictures of the sub-par work. I do believe that if I had contacted SIR about all of these issues they would have taken care of them. I just didn't want to have to deal with it anymore. I only have the one bathroom and I work from home, so it was a hassle. I was surprised that the PM didn't do a walkthrough when it was done.

When I had to take over my parents house I discovered that I needed a new roof put on the house and…read moreso I called Lyster's because I knew they were the best contractor for the job. They came to the house and worked with me to get the roof done right away . In the end they were able to do the whole roof including replacing some boards as well . They were so easy and great to work with. I got a fantastic price and so I hired them to do the job. I have never regretted hiring them to do the job and they also took the time to completely replace all the gutters too. I recently was told by another company that I was in need of a new roof and probably some boards too. The guy said that I had black mold in my attic as well. The guy was from Top Home Improvements. I had went to the Senior Expo a couple of weeks ago and they had a both there so I signed up to get a quote and roof inspection. I would never ever use that company to do anything on my house ever! The guy outright lied to me and the pictures he said that he showed me indicating that I definitely needed to get my roof replaced and have some other repairs too. In the end I showed everything to the guy from Lysters and he pointed out to me that the first pictures he had taken were of my house but the pictures he showed me of what was supposedly my with damaged shingles and supposedly some soft spots in the roof. Indicating that I also needed some boards replaced too. In the end the guy from Lysters went up on my roof and looked it completely over then said to me your roof is in great shape and he also told me that if I had a leak in the roof causing black mold to grow in there then the water leak would also have gone down to the main level of the house and I would have water spots showing up. I have no water spots anywhere in the upstairs of my home. Once again just proving that I was actually lied to. The great news was I not only didn't need a new roof at all and the one I have now is going to be fine for at least another 10 to probably 15 years. I felt so relieved because the quote from Top Home Improvement was for just under $35,000.00 ! I can assure you that if I ever need work done on my home I will never call anyone but Lyster's to do the job. As for Top Home Improvement I would never use them for any job. I'm just so angry that they outright lied to me and almost cost me a substantial amount of money that was never necessary to spend whatsoever. I guess I would say buyer beware of who you call to do important work on your home. By not getting a second opinion I would have spent a huge amount of money that wasn't really necessary at all. I have also learned that from now on before I hire any company to do work on my home I'll definitely be checking with the Better Business Bureau too. They collect information about all kinds of companies and post the reviews of what other people have had to say about the company.

My wife and I live in Vicksburg Michigan and have nice two story home that's around 17 years old…read more We noticed that some of our shingles had either come lose or were missing in places after a very windy storm. Instead of just getting a quote on small repairs we figured all new would be the better move. After looking through some of the different roofing companies online that serviced our area we settled on Sherriff Goslin Roofing in Kalamazoo. They were the quickest to get back with us, and after meeting there representative for a free estimate we felt pretty good about the options that they offered. We were a bit nervous that this would be a huge expense, but only had to wait a day or two to get our quote, and it was a big relief to find out it was almost half of what we just paid for our new deck. So we gave them the go-ahead. They were able to come do it in the same month we got the quote and the job went very well indeed. They were very careful to make sure that everything surrounding our home would not fall victim to the removal and replacement of the old roof. Very efficient on the time it took to do the job. They even called us and told us that they could begin the job earlier if we wanted, due to their finishing a job not far from us. So we jumped at the opportunity to have them get started that afternoon and by around 5 or 6pm the next day they the work was completely done and cleaned-up leaving us with a beautiful new roof that we absolutely love. So let me end this by saying that Sherriff Goslin Roofing of Kalamazoo is a awesome choice if you are in the market for a new roof that is good quality, done within a great time-frame in a very professional manor that for us was way more affordable than we had originally thought something like this would be. Thank you Matt for the giving us the estimate, telling us all the differences of roofing choices, and being there for us to the very end, good job!

After installation, we began experiencing water intrusion issues that were not present before. This…read morewinter did bring more severe ice dams than we have experienced in past years; however, the leakage has occurred only in specific areas of the home. In reviewing those areas, we observed visible gaps between the drip edge and the gutters. Other sections of the home, where the gutter and drip edge align properly, do not show the same issues. The gutter installation appears inconsistent, with some sections installed correctly and others not. When we reported the problem, the company recommended using a roof rake and applying salt to manage ice buildup. This was not something we had ever needed to do previously, but we followed their guidance and took those steps as instructed. We were later told that the gutters were installed "the best they could be" due to existing fascia and rafter conditions, and that wire was used in some locations instead of straps. We were never notified during the installation that these conditions existed, nor were we given the opportunity to discuss alternative solutions or address them at the time. Additionally, we did not receive a post-installation inspection or walkthrough. (Despite requesting one when we received our invoice three or four weeks later.) Had we been informed of the installation challenges or provided a final inspection, we could have addressed concerns earlier and potentially avoided additional damage. We understand our home is older and that renovation projects can uncover unexpected issues. However, clear communication and transparency are especially important in those situations. We chose this company in part because of the many positive reviews and the reputation they have built. We understand that mistakes can happen on any project. What matters most to us is how those issues are communicated and addressed. In this case, we expected the same level of integrity and accountability through challenges as is shown during successful projects. We are sharing this review to provide an honest account of our experience and to encourage clearer communication, transparency around installation challenges, and post-installation inspections for future customers. We were never notified of fascia or gutter issues when we discussed the job nor was it in the estimate or notes. We did discuss the age of the gutters at which point I asked if they should be replaced before or during install and was told no, they wouldn't affect anything. We removed the snow as instructed immediately. We applied salt. We asked up front if the gutters were moved and/or lowered during install and were told yes. And I watched them move them as I was home during the install. We're not asking for much, just accountability and honesty. And the first substantial snowfall in Portage, Michigan was November 29 when we received nine inches. Then into early December. On December 7, we noticed the first leaks and I reached out that day with photos. Nothing was inspected when someone came out after that and we were told to apply salt and rake the roof, which we did. The statement about weeks later is highly inaccurate. And the leak was immediately after, there was no "pulling down" of the gutters.

No one showed Friday. I called the following Monday to find out what happened. Charlie called to say they needed to find the right tiles and would let us know when they could come out. No calls for a few weeks. I called to ask about an ETA on the repair. He told me "that was done weeks ago." I asked for a date, no answer given. I asked what they did, I was told they "sealed the soffit and facia area." No tiles needed or used? The rotted wood wasn't replaced, no tiles were moved or replaced, just a bunch of caulk spread over the area. This roof came with a 10-year warranty and this warranty has NEVER been honored. If I was alone and my husband wasn't able to come behind them, I would be in a mess of trouble! And now it looks like he will have to do that again. Buyer, Be Ware!
