I never realized how dishonest SIR HOME IMPROVEMENT was until I had a claim in 2026 over roof damage from an ice dam. I called in late December of 2025 and they sent two young men out to look. These boys knew nothing about roofing. They took some pictures of the leaking roof and moldy insulation. I waited for a reply from the company but none came for over two months! I began calling SIR in March but could not get anyone to deal with it or call back. They kept saying I had no warranty even though I have bha paper that indicated that I did and a contract that verified the same thing. SIR found the contract in their files--30 year warranty that covered labor costs. Eventually the head of the company, Frank Mumford, called and set up a meeting with me at my house to inspect the damage himself, but he always begged off and never came. In late March he called and offered to do the roof AT COST and replace the insulation for FREE. His bid on doing the roof was $5,800. By this time I had contacted a company recommended by my insurance agent--A FOR PROFIT BID was made at $3600, plus they would follow the specs of the insurance company! Needless to say, I had the recommended company do the work When it came to replacing the insulation, it took SIR 48 days to show up and they only did a partial job. There is much more that could be said, but I will leave it at that. Consumers, be sure to take multiple bids on all future jobs and research the company before you sign on. If you don't want a good warranty and want the run around this is the place for you. Lifetime warranty only means about 10 years not as long as you own your house which they promote. I would avoid if you plan to live where they do the shoddy work. read more

I was put in contact with SIR through Home Depot to get an estimate on installing tile in my bathroom. I was contacted 3 times prior to my appointment to make sure my "husband would be home" and get more information about my "full bath replacement." Because I had to keep repeating what service I was interested in, I took at look at their reviews. I called back bc of the poor Yelp reviews to cancel. Every review about predatory sales tactics is true. I now get 2 to 3 calls per day from this company. I would never use this company based on these ridiculous nonstop calls. My "husband" shouldn't need to be home just to provide an estimate either...unless I was going to be pressured to sign a contract that day!! Home Depot should do better. Matt Scherer came on the scheduled day and called me in advance to keep me apprised of his arrival. He was very professional and completed the job on a timely manner. I appreciated his honesty (he found few concerns) and didn't attempt to convince me I needed windows that I didn't. I was in the market for an updated wet space in my upstairs bathroom... Home Depot sent out Sir Home Improvement to give me a quote and to go over everything that I want/ Don't want... the price was definitely high at the first initial quote, but ended up getting it down to a more reasonable price by removing some features and buying my own. The salesman put down chrome shelf for the shower for some reason and said he would have it corrected for me going forward, project manager that came out said he did not change it on the paperwork and still had them down as chrome shelf's so he would fix it... the installer came out and they still didn't have the correct shelf that we wanted down for some reason, but Carter the installer was amazing and got it fixed up for me! Carter is a 1/ million employee that's hard to get these days, his partner and himself had the demo and shower done in 1 day despite some setbacks and hoops they had to endure! I absolutely love the shower that Carter put in, he's extremely particular in his measurements and making sure everything fits and goes together well while looking amazing! Day 2 they sent a floor installer out to put down new floor, the floor looks nice that they used, some minor cleanup issues with the floor install, but there's so much that goes into these jobs that it just happens being human... So far, I'm impressed with this company and I would recommend them and will definitely be doing future business with them as I will be needing new floor and an updated bathroom wet space downstairs next time! Another perk is the energy program that comes free with them, it may not be a ton of savings per year on energy, but anything helps and the technician for the energy program was super kind and professional at his job! I contracted with SIR to replace my tub with a walk-in shower, remove wainscoting, install a new medicine cabinet, light fixture, and hanging cabinet in my small bathroom. This was in May 2024. They were friendly and arrived when expected, but the quality of work wasn't great. These were the main issues: 1) When removing the wainscoting, the guy broke off about six inches of my window frame and a huge chunk of my door frame. He said nothing about it. I had to call SIR and they replaced the frames, but then I had to re-paint the walls. 2) The calk around the window is bumpy and looks bad. 3) The drywall guy decided to drywall my ceiling to smooth out some grooves. That was a nice thought, but I was 20 feet away from him all day and he should have asked me. I would have said no - since he applied the drywall, I had to paint the ceiling. I'd had spine surgery recently and can't tilt my head back very far. It took 4 months before I had healed enough to paint it finally. 4) They installed a small vent in the wall, but the hole was too big and the vent hangs loose so you can see the jagged hole in the drywall behind it. 5) flooring has lines against the grain so it looks defective. 6) I noticed that the workers kept their tools on my new shower floor (my bathroom is small) and I figured they knew what they were doing. But after they were gone I noticed a scratch in the shower. You can only see it up close, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause a problem. A guy from SIR came out to check and said it was too deep for him to fix. He also found another one. He said he'd put in a work order, but it's been several weeks and I haven't heard back from them, so I'll have to call. 7) There was some poor communication and other minor issues too numerous to mention. I will try to load some pictures of the sub-par work. I do believe that if I had contacted SIR about all of these issues they would have taken care of them. I just didn't want to have to deal with it anymore. I only have the one bathroom and I work from home, so it was a hassle. I paid for a new 50 yr roof, tear off, repair damaged decking, install ridge vent, everything. They did a hack job from start to finish. Had to get rid of the first crew and have another crew finish. They did no repair any of the decking, they ran the tar paper vertically not horizontally and overlapped like it should have been. And then to top of the poor job they did they did not even cut into the roof for the ridge vent. So the ridge vent that I paid for is ornamental not functional. I have made numerous attempts to get these things taken care of but have been blown off. I will try to get in touch with them again but am not holding my breath. Avoid this company like the plague, they have no integrity. We contracted for a bathroom remodel and it included removal of a jacuzzi tub. we knew it would be a big job and were pleased with the price offered. unfortunately it turned into a big headache with us always having to contact them to find out if and when someone would show up. Most of the time when they left, they left our home a mess. Put things in our garage and put things resting on our car. Asked if we would move one car so they could use garage and we allowed it, dust over everything in garage. A job that was said to take 4 days turned into 2 weeks. project manager only came once when we had a disagreement. In the end we just wanted them out of our house even though the work was below par. We had expected project manager to show up after job completed but did not hear a thing from them. The big talk about how the owner looks out for vets and what he gives back, well we are veterans and our treatment sure did not feel special. Horrible service. Do not use them. They don't show up when they say they will and will leave you waiting for weeks to finish the job. They also solicit 5 star reviews by placing the names of all employees who were mentioned in a 5 star review in a raffle for a cash prize at the end of the week. You will notice that the positive Google reviews almost all have a name in them and that's because the workers beg the customers to write a 5 star review before the job is even finished. EXTREMELY high pressure sales promises you the world but don't follow through on those promises. They make you sign a contract the day they are there to guarantee the price. They promise you that after the project, they will come through your house and seal up leaks and "guarantee you'll see a 20% reduction in your utilities". When the sales guy came, they told me it would be about 10 weeks before they could get to the project. When they called to tell me when they had me scheduled for, it was 5 MONTHS out. Only when I complained and asked for my deposit back, did they find time to get in within the 10 weeks. Then today they showed up to "seal up the house". They just called to tell me that due to the age of house (the sales guy was AT THE HOUSE AND KNEW HOW OLD IT WAS WHEN HE MADE THESE PROMISES) they were only able to make a 3% reduction!! They cost A LOT more than others but I went with them ONLY because they promised to seal the house up which was basically worthless!!!! we completely redid all of our windows and had them install a brand new patio door!!! here we are 5 months later and the patio handle has fallen off trying to close the door. It has been loose since installed I assumed it was because of the door lock which doesn't completely work unless you force the door close with pressure and it should slide easily by it being brand new. what a price to pay, for looks!!! and we have supposed to be the best windows which still seeps air. read more

Positives- Friendly staff in all levels. Negatives- Quality of work for $9,000 is not quite acceptable. Average materials at best. Bathtub does not feel 100% secure. Shower fixture came off the wall. Water pressure is very low. They said it was a regulation but I don't think so. I am a realtor and go in many homes with substantial water pressure which is noticeably stronger than mine. The top molding was not replaced leaving exposed drywall. Had to reschedule appointment which required days off when original appointment did not. Just not impressive cosmetically. read more

I had a SIR salesman sent to my home for a quote through Home Depot. My house is in Wyoming, MI near Byron Center and 28th street. It was built in 1939. My bathroom is 9x7'. After taking up two hours of my time, trying to fear monger about using any materials other than their acrylic, they quoted me $21,000 FOR A SHOWER! The quote didn't even include a new vanity or toilet.The salesman also kept insisting that my husband be there. I'm not married and I'm spending my money. Super insulting and sexiest. Here is my take on SIR and if I would of read some of these reviews before hand I would of went else where. I had new windows installed and I was told that it would take 2 days. So the first day of the install no one showed up and no one called me to let me know there was an issue. I had to call and I received 3 different reasons why they weren't there. After the next day they showed up and got must of the windows installed found out they miss measured one of the windows and had to reorder it. Three weeks went by and the miss measured window was still not installed and no one was letting me know what was going on. I had to once again call them and find out what the problem was. Its now Nov. 6th and my project is still not finished and to top it off while I was inspecting for cold drafts around a window I found a crack in the frame so Inspected to the rest of the windows and found two more windows with cracks in the frame. (which they are coming to replace but who knows when that will be) These windows are supposed to be the top of line as well. There is more but I am just pointing out the big problems so other people can check other companies before signing with SIR. With all these problems I contacted the owner Frank and pretty much got blown off every time we talked, even though what I bought into was how much he takes his customers satisfaction seriously. Let me remind you I am not making up complaints like some people just to try and get free stuff. This has been the worst experience I have ever had. I have yet to receive and compensation for my troubles. If anyone gets suckered into there sales pitch like I did and is very excited to get a home energy test done well DONT fall for it. That test was such a joke. Basically all they did was put insulated covers behind my outlets and switches. They didn't do anything like was pitched to me when I agreed on the project. I have now been contacted by them 9 times within 5 days of the original inquiry (early call @7:46am and late 6:30pm)! Since they were not within 30 miles of me I asked them to stop calling...that was 8 phone calls ago! Based on their SALES TACTICS alone; I will NEVER use this company. Here is our experience with these guys. Hired them for new siding on our home. We thought they were expensive, but felt confident that they would do a quality job and use the best materials. The come over to your home and do a big long song and dance about the quality of their materials, how much money you are going to save on your electric bill, etc. We were sold. Big mistake. The crew they sent over was very unprofessional. One guy had on a police tether and a few of the days he brought his pregnant girlfriend to the job. She sat in his truck. She would come and knock on our door and ask my wife if she could use the bathroom... very awkward and unprofessional. On another occasion, they were all supposed to be there on a Saturday to finish the job. Only the convict showed up and made an inappropriate comment to my wife that embarrassed her and infuriated me. The were supposed to wrap the entire house before instillation the siding. The didn't for the garage or breeze way. They also never came back to do it after we complained. Some of the siding came off in under a year. Yes they did come out and fix it but come on. It should not come off so soon. After talking with other contractors it turns out we payed about twice as much as we would have if we went with another company. My advice, don't believe the hype. If you get a quote from them, don't sign on the spot, get at least two other quotes and notice the difference. read more

This is a *very* professional company. They aren't the cheapest folks on the block, but they get the job done. I hired them to do a roofing project for me, and they had everything completed within 2 weeks. Not only did they re-roof the structure, but they also upgraded the insulation and did the gutter work too, all included in the original quote. There were a couple problems with leaks during the project, and they corrected the problem within a few hours each time. Coordinated with Home Depot to have bathroom remodeled. Aug. 2018 had meeting with SIR agent to make arrangements including work to be done, what they would furnish for the project and financial arrangements for the remainder of the cost of the project, after a down payment was given . Work was scheduled to be done in Nov.. Sep. got a payment due notice from GreenSky the financial institution, and after my contacting GreenSky the payment due was cancelled due to my giving of a down payment. Nov. day 1, tear out of old shower/tub took place, and 2nd day was to be the install of the new shower/tub and vanity that we had bought. Day 2 the shower/tub was completed and another day would be scheduled for the vanity install. Due to the shoddy work, a result of shortcuts. a project manager came to inspect the problems and concurred that more work was required so a employee has came 2 more times between Nov. and Dec., performing cosmetic repairs to where a wall structure integrity had been compromised. The walls of the shower/tub are not aligned as the brochure shows, can not be corrected without a complete tear out and the wall structure integrity compromise can not be corrected without major work, at an additional expense to us. Was presented with a $300 check as Customer Appreciatio. Dec. received payment due notice from GreenSky and learned that I had only 20 months remaining of the 24 free of interest, if the loan was paid in full. This was due to the loan starting in Aug., day contract was signed vs. Dec. when the project has been terminated. Representative at the local Home Depot store has taken it upon themselves to monitor the actions taken and to be taken by their contractor, SIR. read more

This is the WORST place to go for home improvements! They do shoddy work. They over charge! They charged us 6000 to do our bathroom. We had to buy the tub, the vanity, the toilet.. all they did was install the stuff, and the flooring. They left the walls and ceiling as is.. for 6000... If that wasn't bad enough, a year later the flooring is coming up and we found they made a mess of the plumbing. Windows- They gave me an estimate to start, then gave me another estimate to show I'm saving money, then when I denied they gave me a lower estimate- this was within 10 minutes. Then they called me the next day saying someone else could come out and measure and give us another estimate. That's 4 different estimates within 24 hours! Sounds pretty unfair pricing to me. I want an honest company right from the start, not 4 different estimates to get as much as they can out of me! Going to a different company! When the person doing the estimate came to our house, they knew nothing about our info, how many windows we were doing. We didn't feel appreciated right from the start being their customers. Home Depot (Portage) contracts out their bathroom remodeling with this company. Set up an appointment that I was told would be 30-60 minutes. Long story short, he was at my home for 2 and a half hours with a high pressure sales pitch trying to sell me vinyl bath wrap only. Product looked good but I asked if they also did tile, he said it wouldn't change the price much. Asked what if I did the demo, he said that wouldn't change the price much either. Quoted $28,000! This DID NOT include the costs of any tile, bathtub, toilet, fixtures or anything! ONLY the labor and the vinyl bath wrap. Plus, if I acted this month they're doing half off labor to bring it to $21,000. Told me if I agree to put a sing in my yard, price could come down another 10%. Wanted me to agree and put down $$$ on the spot! Was real interested in getting me set up with financing too. Very used car salesman-like. "How much can you afford per month?" I've dealt with these type of things before with gutter guard salesman. Exact same ploy. "Sign in the yard, we're doing a big job in town now so if you agree today you get discount... blah blah blah." It's too bad HD decided to partner with this company since I've had good experiences with HD Kitchen remodeling in the past. We ordered a bathroom remodel. our bathroom is small and we were told it would take 3 to 4 days tops. We set aside 2 weeks just incase. the project stared Aug.31 it ended Oct.8. things that went wrong: demolition crew didn't do the full demolition. when the floor install person showed he had to finish demolishing first. when the shower install person showed up he had to finish demolishing the shower area before he could begin. the shower doors didn't come in so we didn't have doors for 3 weeks. the demolition crew pulled the window trim off the window and cracked it, as well as pulling the drywall off under it. the sink leaked after install that was repaired, a couple days later it was leaking again. the room height was measured wrong so the shower panels didn't go to the ceiling the full length. so that left a gap at the ceiling. a molding piece needed to be installed but also needed to be ordered so we had to wait. the shower doors leaked, when the molding was finally put up it was uneven and looks bad. The water in the shower was lukewarm it needed to be adjusted. the only compensation they offered was $250 off. despite having a cracked window trim and giving up 4 Saturdays and 2 weeks worth of vacation time. I would not recommend this place there was little communication from the project manager until we demanded everything be done through email or text so that there was record. The owner ended up calling to set up a time to finish the project but claimed is was service call, that our bathroom was complete. it was not complete we were still waiting on the molding and the shower to be caulked. what a joke read more

My bathroom needed an upgrade desperately. Sir was at the Elkhart County Fair promoting their company. Mainly their kitchen and bathroom remodeling. I set up an appointment and listened to their pitch. They offered me a product that was not only beautiful, but strong and low maintenance. They also offered a price that was not cheap, but affordable. There were some glitches. The date they were to start was delayed because one of the materials wasn't right and they had to reorder. The installer, Kirk, arrived a week later and began demo. He took the time to show me the areas that needed reconstruction and proceeded to fix them before installing the new shower. Each time he ran into another problem, he discussed it with me, before fixing it. His 40 years experience and expertise was apparent when he created a bathroom that I will be able to decorate and use for years to come. Kirk also told me to contact him whenever I saw something that wasn't quite right. This reassurance of backup is a great comfort, as I have had negative experience from other installers in the past. I had my bathroom done by Sir home in 2017 came out done a great job fast forward 2019 my bathtub Faucet broke and I couldn't cut the water off to tub I called and email on a Sunday Frank the owner call me back and ask me if I needed to call a plumer for Immediate service they would take care of it I said no it's just me and my wife at home they had the service guy out here at 9:30 am the next morning had it fix and gone by 9:50 am I call that great customer service. We were sold on a new roof for our house. We were told that it would last for 30 or more years. I expected that they would come in the spring to do the job. They showed up in February, with snow and ice still on our roof. The roofers went and bought salt to remove the snow and ice and then proceeded to put the new roof over the old roof. The salesman said that they would inspect the roof to see if the decking need to be replaced. They did not. In the 8 years that we have had the roof they have had to come out multiple times to stop leaks. The roof still leaks. Owner Frank came out to see the damage to our dining room and bathroom ceilings. They supposedly fixed the problem, but it still leaks. When you call they ask how can they make you smile. I get put through to the service repair person and usually just get voicemail. They do not return my call. When I get through to the person they say they will get back to me. No response. Moving this summer and had to have someone else fix my ceilings. read more

Twice they refused to come quote my siding replacement. Why? Because I said my wife would not be available at any job quote. Why would this happen other than they would like us to sign them up same day, and need both home owners to sign. I don't care for pushy companies. Give me a quote, then I'll decide who gets the job.
