    New walk in Acrylic Shower

I was in the market for an updated wet space in my upstairs bathroom... Home Depot sent out Sir Home Improvement to give me a quote and to go over everything that I want/ Don't want... the price was definitely high at the first initial quote, but ended up getting it down to a more reasonable price by removing some features and buying my own. The salesman put down chrome shelf for the shower for some reason and said he would have it corrected for me going forward, project manager that came out said he did not change it on the paperwork and still had them down as chrome shelf's so he would fix it... the installer came out and they still didn't have the correct shelf that we wanted down for some reason, but Carter the installer was amazing and got it fixed up for me! Carter is a 1/ million employee that's hard to get these days, his partner and himself had the demo and shower done in 1 day despite some setbacks and hoops they had to endure! I absolutely love the shower that Carter put in, he's extremely particular in his measurements and making sure everything fits and goes together well while looking amazing! Day 2 they sent a floor installer out to put down new floor, the floor looks nice that they used, some minor cleanup issues with the floor install, but there's so much that goes into these jobs that it just happens being human... So far, I'm impressed with this company and I would recommend them and will definitely be doing future business with them as I will be needing new floor and an updated bathroom wet space downstairs next time! Another perk is the energy program that comes free with them, it may not be a ton of savings per year on energy, but anything helps and the technician for the energy program was super kind and professional at his job! Thanks again!

Calking around the window doesn't look great,

I contracted with SIR to replace my tub with a walk-in shower, remove wainscoting, install a new medicine cabinet, light fixture, and hanging cabinet in my small bathroom. This was in May 2024. They were friendly and arrived when expected, but the quality of work wasn't great. These were the main issues: 1) When removing the wainscoting, the guy broke off about six inches of my window frame and a huge chunk of my door frame. He said nothing about it. I had to call SIR and they replaced the frames, but then I had to re-paint the walls. 2) The calk around the window is bumpy and looks bad. 3) The drywall guy decided to drywall my ceiling to smooth out some grooves. That was a nice thought, but I was 20 feet away from him all day and he should have asked me. I would have said no - since he applied the drywall, I had to paint the ceiling. I'd had spine surgery recently and can't tilt my head back very far. It took 4 months before I had healed enough to paint it finally. 4) They installed a small vent in the wall, but the hole was too big and the vent hangs loose so you can see the jagged hole in the drywall behind it. 5) flooring has lines against the grain so it looks defective. 6) I noticed that the workers kept their tools on my new shower floor (my bathroom is small) and I figured they knew what they were doing. But after they were gone I noticed a scratch in the shower. You can only see it up close, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause a problem. A guy from SIR came out to check and said it was too deep for him to fix. He also found another one. He said he'd put in a work order, but it's been several weeks and I haven't heard back from them, so I'll have to call. 7) There was some poor communication and other minor issues too numerous to mention. I will try to load some pictures of the sub-par work. I do believe that if I had contacted SIR about all of these issues they would have taken care of them. I just didn't want to have to deal with it anymore. I only have the one bathroom and I work from home, so it was a hassle. I was surprised that the PM didn't do a walkthrough when it was done.

I called our son in law to see if he knew of one, "DC Plumbing, they're real good!" I called and sent an email. Panicking, I looked for more emergency service plumbers. I called a total of 5, one actually answered the phone. I received a quote,, it was 10:45 now and I was quoted late afternoon early evening. I said I would call them back if I had no luck finding someone else. I checked my email and there was a response from DC Plumbing. The owner was very apologetic that he couldn't get out to our home that day, but he could come first thing the next day. At that point, it was good enough, so we waited. I am so glad we did. We saved money by not using an emergency service, and his workers were here right when he said they would be. They were in and out in roughly 10 minutes and did a wonderful job. The owner was extremely thorough, I sent pictures of the leak to help (as asked). Promptness responding as well as service by great employees! Hard to find these days for sure. I have already sent their information to a few friends. I wouldn't call anyone else. By the way, the other 24 hour service plumbers, never responded back until the next morning, except for one, I never heard from them.

We hired GLM Renovations before Covid hit, to install a new bathroom w/ shower stall, in our unfinished basement, then tear out and put in a new main floor main bath with shower in tub. For the latter, most plumbing moved, all fixtures relocated. I designed everything, planned, purchased but everything that could go wrong did. There were forgivable issues that happened to the contractor along the way which I forgave...a lot. Major illness with surgery for the owner, a pandemic and consequent work cessation, injury to the owner due to her own carelessness, another injury w/ infection to the owner due to her own carelessness and self-neglect. Then, I was just plain duped, ignored and trod upon. This is the contractor for you if you want work done where the twenty-something 'builders' say they can do it all....wrong. The bathrooms are there and have all the pieces. Everything needs tweaking, reinstalling, leveling, sanding, caulking, grout fixed. I'm fixing every surface. I have extra tile for a future tear-out and reinstall. I fear what else may have gone wrong if I weren't there all the time. They were unprofessional, dirty, messy, didn't protect workspace unless prompted, disorganized. New tile floors are uneven, 2nd bath grout looked dirty and 10 different shades. Luckily I used Mapei grout stain to go darker and evened it out. I removed all of their weird dirty yellow sanded caulk at all corners, and ordered a proper color of Mapei caulk and did all vertical and horizontal corners around tub again. They didn't install a toe-kick trim I gave to them. They didn't install two custom cabinet end panels that we had been waiting on, because apparantly 'no one had told anyone about' them and they retro-fitted them. It was crooked snd peeling away. I had to straighten it and clamp it. The new drywall had to be resanded, spackled and painted because of visible joint lines, I had all light & plumbing fixtures ready & cabinets ready and they couldn't measure and add vertical dimensions so the medicine cabinet, which the business owner talked me into, was at a very wrong height and the door threatened to shatter the glass shades above. They switched the hot and cold water on one sink. They installed the shower stall with the panels backwards and I had to have them take it out and put in an entirely new one. I had a 25 minute conversation with him about how I thought it was not correct in the first place when they dry fitted it and showed me. Both bathrooms are not on soft water, which we have, and is apparent and completely accessible. New tub, gouged; light fixture electrical box put in wrong place because they didn't ask, talk, discuss, sketch, design, plan ever and the owner never supervised. I've had electricians and plumbers in. The window they installed works very well, nothing leaks, has shorted or is on fire. I won't list the 87 other little things that came up to make this a truly harrowing experience, even with the Covid pandemic removed from all of this. They built walls, the pex plumbing was done generally correctly except for the supply lines through the wall for both toilets were a mess. Don't let the owner sell you on tiled bathrooms unless you want inexperienced hackers to make your new construction look like **** and you like grout lines 1/4" wide, tiles cut very poorly, patterns not following through. She talks a good game but does not follow through and don't let her talk you out of filing for building permits or hiring licensed electricians and plumbers. Her people don't really know much. Her only adult person with any sense and tile specialist, moved away during the summer, So when she came back to finish the job of our bathrooms, she left it in the hands of idiots instead of putting all of her attention to us since we had been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting through injuries and Covid patiently without a word from her for longer than we should have expected since she had a lot of her money for a really long time. The bathrooms were not connected to heat ducts, I had to point that out at the end and they were able to fix that. They removed and drywalled the bad medicine cabinet. They are not decorators to say the least. I'm making it work and anyone is going to look and say it's great. Classic bad experience which is too bad because I liked the owner on a personal level. It's a badly run business. Plans weren't made for efficient use of time, space or materials. if this is typical I don't see how she ever makes any money.
