[Review #718] 2023-003 My manager printed their family's 2023 Lunar New Year cards at Sir Speedy Print, Signs, Marketing, & sent me for pick-up since I live around the corner from the print shop... well, a couple of miles. I had a busy Friday morning with one child's medical appointment, followed by 2 kid drop-offs, & trying to squeeze this pick-up between all that a 9:00 AM meeting. My manager texted they open at 9:00 AM to make the pick-up en route to the office. Per Yelp & their website, their hours are: Monday - Thursday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. When I called Friday morning, a friendly voice picked up & I asked for Daniel, who was on the line. I informed him my manager's LNY cards were ready for pick-up & inquired if I can stop by within the next 5-mins. & they're open. The print shop is located on the corner 223rd St. with the parking entrance around the corner off Vermont Ave. There's no back entrance so you need to walk around & enter on 223rd St. I was greeted warmly by Daniel, recognizing his voice, & announced myself. My order was presented on the counter & I asked if I could check its contents even though I have no idea what was printed. I was all thumbs trying to open the box with my fingernail, & Daniel jumped right in & used a razor to get a sample preview. My Type A mind sees a group family photo in the front with "Happy 2023 Year of the Rabbit" on the bottom left & "新年快樂" on the right side with a couple of rabbits & the family name; on the back there's a photo of their 96 YO maternal family matriarch & her recent status & quoting 2 Corinthians 13:14. No spelling or formatting issues -- it was truly a lovely card! Since there were 2 photos, I might have chosen matte photo paper over their card material. No worries...the family was really happy with the results & that's all that matters. Sir Speedy is speedy, delivering a quality product with a short turnaround time & very reasonable price. The only downside is there are no weekend hours. Recommended: Sir Speedy will get your print jobs done right & speedy. Ask for Daniel; he's awesome! read more

Wow, what can I say. Sir speedy came through with flying colors. Literally! I needed some full color, double sided, 1/4 page flyers made last minute and they came through same day. Not only that, but AJ helped me improve the stylistic quality of the wording I had on the back of the flyer for a minimal fee. I've had flyers made at staples a couple of times, but when they cut them, they came out uneven and smaller than expected. These flyers came out perfect. What I mean by that is that this is not some huge chain with a corny-sounding name manned by a bunch of high school kids... it's a huge chain with a corny-sounding name manned by some truly competent individuals. And, if I have this right, each Sir Speedy is owned and operated by an individual so each one might have different levels of service/quality... but this one is good. I've only been in there twice (plus a few phone calls) and everyone is nice and communicative and knows what they are doing. I've spent quite a bit of time in the print shops of most of the major lots in town... Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount, etc... and it felt like walking into one of those. That is, they know a lot and understand that you are most likely an idiot but treat you with respect because you're the customer. They nod and pretend like they are thinking about your suggestion, never letting on that you're an idiot. Then provide a great idea and pretend that you are the one that came up with it. Daniel was my contact and he was nice when he first answered the phone and was competent when we discussed the job in person and the (small) job was finished on time and looked great at a decent price. read more

I explained very well what I wanted, he kept trying to convince me order something I did not have the time frame for, nor did I have the budget. There are printers then there are PRINTERS. I'm really impressed by the class of service and attention to detail AJ and her colleagues gave the print job. OF COURSE, I was acting like I was their one and only customer, but amidst a really hectic production schedule and being a bit understaffed at the time, they still delivered my prints AHEAD of schedule. This was a print job on custom sized and special paper which I could never do using my online printers. I think this kind of service, quality and customer attention really makes the case for patronizing smaller shops with expertise who make a difference to critical time sensitive projects like mine. I called Speedy Printing this morning (Thursday at 10:30AM) to get 202 pages of a PDF opera score printed and bound double-sided. This is an easy and quick job (I could do it on my home printer in about 5 minutes, although it's more economical for me to bring it to a place like this). The woman was polite but said they wouldn't be able to get it to me until the beginning of next week because "the printer was bogged down with a large job" and due to the fact that they are closed on the weekend. EEK. A five-day turn-around on something simple like this is definitely not "speedy." Considering that "speed" is advertised in your name, you need to do what it takes to deliver on that. I immediately called RWPrints in Old Town Torrance and had it printed within an hour. Basta! --- In response to the owner's comment: I gave a two star review and stand by it based on my one experience, and it was an honest review, not a harsh one. A two-star review pairs with the Yelp description of "Meh, I've experienced better" which describes my one experience. Your employee never offered me the option of picking up on Friday, only Monday, which was five days off. I actually wasn't in a rush, and would have been happy with Friday, or happy with "We will do whatever we can to make it work. Go ahead and e-mail us your file and we'll see what we can do!" You never know when I customer is an avid Yelper, or has a wide network of clients and people she recommends to... It's a matter of principle. If you boast "Speedy" in your name, I (and I'm sure other potential clients) will expect "speedy" turn-arounds. Having other clients or not enough equipment to process demands doesn't make potential customers confident or interested in bringing you their business. read more
