The Door County Property website had really strict rules about keeping your dog on a leash at all…read moretimes (or you'll get fined), so you can imagine our surprise when we arrived at 'Aunt Sally's' with our dog on her leash, to find two huge loose dogs run up to us as we got out of our car. The dogs jumped on our dog and was barking at us, turning into a huge, scary scene. The owners of the dogs (who also happen to own the property we rented living next door) just sat on the dock as we screamed for their help. Finally they came to steer the dogs away. They let us know their dogs are 'outdoor dogs' and if we weren't comfortable with them roaming our rental property off the leash, they would give us a full refund. We drove 5 hours from Chicago, so really wasn't interested in turning around. Door County Property management offered a nice solution with another available rental nearby, but it was not on the water and nothing I would call comparable. DCPM did speak to the owners and the dogs didn't roam on our lawn when we were there (but one of their dogs stole our bone when we left!) anyway, for a company with such a long list of rules, you would think the property owners would follow them and they would let people know that dogs may be roaming this property, so think twice before you decide to rent it. Next year we will be using another property management company for our vacation in door county.

We turned to them…read morewhen the last year when we wanted a beachfront access property vs. other properties we've rented in the past. The Bayview Cottage seemed like the perfect fit. We thought it was the perfect location on the water and worth the $400/ night. The website indicates that there is "Sand Beach" and a "Dock with Lake Access" with photos to boot. Apparently this is only IF the two other beach front properties in the Parks Edge area are not occupied. The two front cottages on the water (that host 20+ ppl) had their chairs, coolers flooding the dock as well as wave runners and a fishing boat docked for the entire week we were there. It started with the first night, my husband and I and our 2 young boys approached the beach to see the front 2 cottages had towels and food set along the entire picnic area. We smiled and planned on setting out food plates down to enjoy our dinner. We received dirty looks as if we were imposing on their party. Feeling completely outnumbered, we decided to head back to enjoy our dinner on the porch. Unfortunately, this family reunion ran every day at 10 AM till 8 PM on the dock and beach area and we never were able to enjoy the beach access and ended up driving to the public beach as we did years before. The final kicker was in checking out and saying goodbye to our wonderful, yet beach-less, week long vacation, we researched properties for next year with beach access. We came across the Parks Edge official website (the property our Bayview cottage was located with RDC) that lists the two cottages RIGHT on the water that hosted this week long family reunion. They list the 6 ppl and 14 ppl cabins and are 50% of the pricing of Bayview where we stayed. Other cottage owners we met in the Parks Edge area (there are 6 cottages in total) also complained about the overall beach access rules and explained it's not the 1st time there has been problems. It's sickening to think we paid such an inflated price without doing our research. This cottage should be in the same range of pricing as the Kulma Cottage (4 bedroom) property at $1200 or so a week, if not, no more than the 2 other TRUE lake front cottages at Parks Edge. Beach access can not be promised and simply a roll of the dice.

We rented the Little Yellow Cottage; two adults and two dogs…read more The name is very true; little and yellow. :) The convenient location is right on Hwy42 within walking distance of several stores, restaurants and a Peninsula State Park entry. There is also a small dog walking area and trails right next door which was really nice and convenient. We parked our car next to the house, off the street so getting in and out with our dogs and bags was easy and safe. The info we received was easy to understand and the door code worked smoothly. On entry one of our pups ran to one bedroom and was barking at something under the bed, which turned out to be two soda bottles and popcorn. This made us look around fully for anything else that the dogs may find that may be harmful to them. While we looked around we saw a hole in the bathroom wall where a still dangling toilet paper holder was supposed to be. (There was a tp stand with paper right next to it so this damage was obviously known and worked around.) The tiny refrigerator top freezer section was so over-iced it was condensing on the top of the outside. Even the utensils are old and stained. We did not prepare meals in the house, but did appreciate the coffee makers, both Kuerig and Mr Coffee. The overall condition of the place was cluttered. It appears that past visitors leave items assuming they can be used by the next renters ie. stroller, 1/2 can of dog food in the refrigerator, dog beds, and more, none of which we chose to look through and all crammed into corners. The vacuum and possibly a portacrib was in the bedroom corner. There are no closets anywhere; this just adds to the cluttered feeling of an already small home. The bedside lamp neck was broken in half. Even the coffee table was well chewed up, but I know that is the problem with renting to lazy dog owners. We never did find a place to sit with a fire pit unless it was next to the garbage cans on the side of the house. All in all this place worked for us as we hike all day and only come back to sleep at night. But with no extra space in the bedrooms for the dogs to sleep on the floor we had to improvise from our normal "no dogs on the furniture" rule from home. And the second bedroom door was so warped it could not be closed. Be warned: if you are a person of a larger size, getting into the bathroom may be a challenge as the toilet is behind the door with little room to move around. A little updating and solid cleaning would make this place much better. But if you are not very particular and need a place that allows dogs this will work. I could easily have given a lower star count but don't want to be mean. Maybe they will work on the items I have mentioned so the next person has a better experience.

We rented the whole of Chatham Hills property through Little Adventure Vacation Rentals in Door…read moreCounty in August 2022. Depending on what you need with the property, it may not be for you. It's about expectations. If you are a very large group with low standards on cleanliness and don't mind a motel-like experience, maybe? Or if you're a large group of college kids that all want to stay on the same property and don't care about much else, perhaps. But if you are like us (2 families that have been coming to vacation in Door County for 20 years) that expect a level of cleanliness and function in a rental, look elsewhere. We don't expect perfection in a rental. But to say that the property is a victim of deferred maintenance is generous. Mold in the showers, very poor water pressure, leaking ceilings, missing tiles taped over in the basement "game room", broken sporting equipment, grey and worn-thin towels, stained sheets, etc. It was dirty and depressing. And clearly not outfitted for a large group as advertised. There were only 8 "real" plates - all of the other plateware was plastic; plus there were no serving dishes or adequate cookware or small appliances to cook for a large group. Plus the kitchen is so small, only two people can comfortable move around while working. We ended up eating only one dinner at the property. The "adventure shed" was touted to be filled with adequate bikes, kayaks, sporting goods, etc - but that also was a disappointment. Most of the items were either broken or missing parts. Also beware-renting this in the high season leaves you no choice (literally everything in Door County is booked solid the first week of August in the summer) so you will have to stay and deal with the disappointment like we did (my family actually left 3 days early; the other family had to stay but spent most of their time off property). It is very unfortunate. The property has tons of potential and could be really great if attended to. Or, if the price was a quarter of what we paid for the week - you might feel like it was "fine enough" for the cheap rate. To add insult to injury, the customer service from Little Adventures was way off the mark. When we contacted them the day after we arrived with our complaints and photo documentation, they thought that refunding us a cleaning fee (what cleaning?) and a restaurant gift certificate would cover our dissatisfaction. If it was just about some cleaning and a few broken bikes, that would have been fine. But our complaint was about the gross misrepresentation of the property and all of the items I listed above. I hope this review is helpful to other potential renters considering this property.

Communication with Simple Life was good. I received several emails with instructions for check in, garbage service, and check out. The condo is centrally located in Door County. The indoor pool is nice but they seemed to be making improvements to the outdoor pool, which was closed. It claimed to have a fitness center but it only had 4 pieces of equipment. The only negative things I can say about the condo was that is wasn't stocked with many necessities. I would suggest bringing your own towels. We were given 6 for 7 people. We couldn't find any dish towels. They had plenty of dinnerware but the coffee cups were tiny( more like espresso cups, so bring your own). There is a limited amount of serving dishes. We were given two dishwasher pods and laundry pods( once again, bring your own) and one roll of paper towels. There's no Kleenex provided. So while the place is lovely, just know that you will have to bring in some items. And the previous guests left there garbage in the garage. I communicated this to Simple Life and they responded immediately. I didn't want to be blamed for that. Overall, this is a clean, comfortable, centrally located condo. We would stay again and use Simple Life in the future.

The kids enjoyed the pool and the indoor facility with game room, workout rooms and pickle all courts. We did walk to town which was not bad but it is along a busy county road without sidewalks. They also have a nice dog park area that our two dogs enjoyed. The main office brews delicious coffee daily which was so nice to have after a morning walk. Thanks for the great stay!

The variety of breakfast is a little lacking, but it is a small operation. Our suite was a bit funky, as you walked in through one king bedroom to get to the Living area. There was another king bedroom that was lofted and both have their own en suite bathrooms with a fabulous shower, set up, with a regular head, range, showerhead, and three body sprays. There was an issue one night, where there was a constant clicking, and being a musician. I measured it with my metronome, it clicked 42 time per minute. The manager and this person went on the roof themselves to try to discover the problem, along with her HVAC service, and found the issue, comping us one entire day. We will definitely try to stay at the same resort on our next trip, and will try to book far enough in advance to get the penthouse suites!

They had an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, grills if you want to cook and it was very easy getting to my room. It was not peek time so they were not super busy yet. And that was perfect for us. They also were participating in garage sale weekend that we did not even know was around town. That was fun also

Note to self: next time don't wait a week to find out whether it was confirmed or not. I finally called and talked to Sharon about not receiving confirmation. And sure enough, there was nothing booked under my name. Sharon went above and beyond to try to accommodate us. And she was amazing. The Customer Service you will find during your stay here is exemplary. From the immaculate rooms, to the staff that you will encounter. We would absolutely stay here again. Actually, we can't wait to book our next stay. ( I've never seen a cleaner bathroom in all of my stays anywhere) Located at the very end of Main Street, it is a quiet, peaceful, picturesque location. Once we parked our car and checked into the motel, whenever we wanted to explore the town, we left our car and walked. Fish Creek is an incredibly walkable town. Especially Main Street. So close to everything. It's just our favorite place in the world. So, if you are thinking of visiting Fish Creek and want a lovely clean, comfortable stay, I can't recommend Main Street Motel enough.

Thorpe House is reasonably priced if you're celebrating something like we were. It was like stepping back in time but nothing felt dated. They fill up really quickly so get a room booked as soon as you know when your trip is! We will absolutely come back the next time we're in the area!

The room was freezing…read morebecause the bathroom heater didn't work in the middle of winter, which made the entire space uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. The jacuzzi tub -- one of the reasons we booked -- was filthy, clearly not cleaned properly before our stay. We also paid for a horse‑drawn carriage ride, which was canceled due to weather. That part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was the complete lack of communication about the replacement trolley ride being one‑way only. We were dropped off and left to walk back to the B&B in bitter cold temperatures with no warning. Breakfast was another disappointment. What was served tasted reheated and stale, like it had been sitting around far too long. And the truffles we ordered -- which should have been a special touch -- were stored in the laundry room and all tasted like detergent. For the price and reputation, we expected a warm, welcoming, and well‑run experience. Instead, we left cold, frustrated, and extremely let down. We won't be returning.

Let me tell you about the shower: it had a rain showerhead on the ceiling activated by a push button. Temperature was totally adjustable and then there was a handheld sprayer also activated by a button and three sprayers mounted on the wall in front of you that you could aim in different areas of your body and they were activated by a button. Each of them was separately adjustable; for instance, let's say I wanted to do something with the showerheadsthat we're shooting at me from the front - by turning the knob to the left or right I could adjust the pressure. It was the best shower experience I've ever had, OK wow I very much love the resort and the shower, which I spent a lot of time in but there was one negative. There was a table and chairs in the room. The chairs were very uncomfortable to sit in so if you were gonna spend much time in the room, it was difficult however, there was a nice soft couch just outside our room and so when I needed to sit, I sat outside on the couch. There was also room to park a boat in the parking lot, which I did. I plan to go back in the fall to Door County and based on that wonderful shower I think I wanna go back to Bay Breeze Resort. I think you would love it too!

So like our…read morefirst visit last fall, we nabbed the last available room at our chosen hotel, and it was Church Hill Inn this time around. They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip. They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme. Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree. The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived. He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor. When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha. He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years. The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas. There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system. A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested. The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive. Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out. I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars. The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently. We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also. I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here. I really do like this place and the owner.

Mini fridge, one cup coffee pot and hair dryer. Unfortunately, we found the bed to be extremely uncomfortable. It was like laying on the floor. The pillows were down, but the kind that flattened and stay flat. The water in the shower is just gross. It left you feeling slimy. Never clean. My hair was a giant knot, no matter how much conditioner I used. Unfortunate. There is no microwave in the room. However , there is one by the coffee bar in the lobby. They also had a mini fridge with juices and flavored water. They did not offer water or ice anywhere. This was a huge inconvenience. We drink a lot of water and ice would have been nice. We did end up buying a case of water. As cute as the Blacksmith inn is, I would not go back. If you're not getting a good nights sleep it really affects your vacation. The breakfasts are yummy and delivered hot and at the time we requested. If we expect to be a bit hungrier we order a bit extra. Never do we leave hungry! We enjoyed the coffee/brewery down the block called Sway. Always return home distressed!

Very, very much so! It was Winter still when we took our 10 and 6 y/o grandkids to Little Sweden…read morefor a 4-night stay, but we enjoyed it so much! We rented a 2-storey townhouse unit through our owners membership in Club Wyndham Destinations. It's a beautiful unit with a dedicated garage, two full bathrooms with jetted spa tubs and large shower stalls. The fireplace is real and there are wood logs provided. The master bedroom is massive, the kitchen fully stocked (as with all Wyndhams), but for us the best feature is the enclosed, heated patio with a comfy 4-chairs/table set. It leads to an outdoor deck with a Weber grill. The Recreation Center has a good sized heated pool indoors and outdoor hot tub. You can rent cross country ski equipment or ice skates for outdoor Winter activities. The townhouses are truly young-family-friendly as evidenced by the high chair and booster seat in the front closet. Little Sweden is in Fish Creek, WI, a very cute touristy town. We enjoyed shopping and even attending a local church service on Sunday. For the Summer, we look forward to boating and fishing. We hope to return in the Summer.
