One thing we really appreciated was how each campsite felt private, even though there were other campers nearby. It created a relaxing atmosphere without feeling crowded. Also, note that the rules do not allow you to burn branches, so you can't burn any of the debris yourself even if it's in your campsite. See pictures... Another thing that stood out is their rule about dogs. According to the rules (see photos), they don't want you leaving your dogs unattended if you leave the campground...even if they're secured inside your own RV.

There was an issue of odor in Hattie Wells cabin and she found a solution for us. I'd like to see them let folks know where the recycling dumpster is. I noticed most of the stuff in the recycling dumpster was in plastic garbage bags. If recycling arrives in plastic garbage bags, they won't take it and it goes out as trash. So please, Rustic Timbers, please let people know. Besides that, it was a nice stay. Shiree gave great recommendations on things to do.

I'm adding an update since it's been 4 years since my last review of this park, but please also see…read moremy 2 earlier reviews. They have completely rebuilt the fire tower adding an accessible ramp. While we are able to climb stairs, we enjoyed the ramp a great deal. I'm not a huge fan of open stairs and found this wide ramp that is intended for both wheelchair users and walkers to be a very pleasant way to reach the viewing platform and return to ground level. The view from the top is amazing on a clear day. We also walked part of the sunset bike trail as an out and back which was lovely. We started at the beach, headed toward the lighthouse and continued on to the bluffs/cliffs before turning around. It was about 6 miles round trip and had lots of wildflowers and beaches along the way. This is a great trail for anyone who doesn't want to navigate a lot of tree roots or rocks. Other updates: The lighthouse is being refurbished and is scheduled to reopen later in June 2026. There are now food trucks near the beach if you don't feel like bringing a picnic lunch!

I stayed here with some family and we only had tents. Easy to find and while it has a 'country'…read morefeel, it still is close to town. I always change where I go camping to keep it interesting and this was my first time being genuinely disappointed with the grounds. The biggest shocker for me was a 'wagon full' of wood for $15!! Mind you it is not a big wagon at all (wish I remembered to take a picture!) and had about 10 pieces of long wood with the bark still on it. That's important to add cause it was still holding moisture = getting the fire going was a pain! l!! The price was really ridiculous for me, and they do NOT let you bring in 'outside' wood not on the grounds per avoiding other tree sicknesses. It became clear this site was more geared towards RV folks. We had a back in site with water and electricity--electricity didn't even work. Once we let them know they gave us an additional plug in piece for it which helped, but I could only wonder what would have happened had we decided to go more 'glamping' for that trip and were heavily relying on that box. Would have ruined the trip for sure. Bathrooms were...interesting. I mean they had them and they weren't sour smelling, but could have been set up to help keep it clean. For example, there is just an air hand dryer. To keep down some costs I'm sure but what that does is leave the sink area covered in water that splashed, making it feel dirty. I'm not high maintenance at all, but when its filth from so many other people, I get uneasy. The 'shop' they have there for things you may forgot or need or want, veryyyyyyy skimpy. I'm talking like supplies NOT in abundance, grouped together on a shelf with a hand drawn sign in front of each. Essentials yes, but have low expectations for good selection. Family run I GUESS, but I have been to plenty around WI that have been wayyy homey-er and still a good price. Definitely would not recommend unless none of this applies cause you have an RV
