We sat at the bar and my husband had the Porch Song and Michigan Martini. He said the Michigan Martini reminded him a of Chicago Hot Dog in a drink. I am downgrading my rating due to a menu change. We walked in and walked out with a party of ten because almost of the vegetarian/vegan items are no longer on the menu. Disappointing. May go back some day for beer but with a vegetarian in family not a good option anymore. read more

First off my wife and I are not craft beer lovers. We are new to trying them though since we started Give A Craft Beer Trail 2024. This was our first of 33 stops we plan to enjoy this year. We told them we did not care for IPA and since we are used to more domestic pilsners and lagers they recommended Floatin' Round an American Light Lager. I travel the US & work in high-end Food & Beverage. The rural Midwest (growing up there) isn't always my favorite for culinary delights. I spent 2 weeks in Dowagiac @ a friend's cabin while driving to a new job. The first try @ Sisterslakebrewing got me an IPA I really enjoyed while I waited for Soba noodles w/shrimp. I was really impressed w/the flavors-however, they forgot the shrimp-and that disappointed me. I called them & let them know. I got a call from a manager a few days later that honestly apologized-and went from there to extend a gift card for the full amount of the meal-so I could truly experience their food. I went back today & ordered the Cheese Steak-I don't eat alot of pub food-but if I did-it would be a place like this-They NAIL the flavors, the staff is truly approachable, & truly WANT to give good service-Sometimes in restaurant/life there are mistakes-it's how you recover that matters. Located between round lake and big crooked lake. There is a bike trail planned to run right by. The menu is small but will make your mouth water. Mac and cheese varieties, BBQ / smokehouse meats. I had the SLBC brisket sandwich. Very flavorful and messy to eat .Went with a knife and fork to get all that sauce without the stick fingers. Went back the next afternoon for palazzolo's ice cream. There are two outside areas to eat. A covered pavilion and a smaller picnic style area with big umbrellas in the tables. I may have moved away, but whenever I find myself back in town I make sure to always pop by SLBC for a cold craft beer and maybe some nachos. I do miss when they sold local hot sauce though. This was the end of our adventure up to South Haven. I was a tad out of it by now. This was a day with a whole lot of drinking haha. Originally, I was going to nap in the car. But he came back out to get me because I liked it here so much. So glad he woke me up. This place was so cool! Something to see everywhere! We didn't eat but the food looked great! They offer flights of fantastic beer! They have a tagabrew and participate in the hop passport. It's a win win! Definitely want to go back. What a fantastic little lake town brewery. We were staying with some friends in South Bend so we shot up this way to hit up a few places. Several different beers to choose from and unfortunately we already had plans to eat somewhere else but the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. The specials that day were homemade lasagna soup and some sort of pork shoulder braised in a wine sauce and for dessert they had homemade bread pudding. There is also several picnic tables out back for when the weather is nice. Once we arrived and sat at our table, we noticed they did not have the NCAA tournament on any of the televisions. I asked the waitress what are the chances of getting the game on and she replied "very good". She changed all three TVs to the game. A super neat place putting out great beer and good looking food. Zero complaints or issues. We had 2 flights of four beers and the pretzel. Huge hot pretzel with hot cheese and room temp mustard. Nice, casual brewpub in historic Sister Lakes. Lot of cool, vintage signage from one time area businesses. Had two different flights which consisted of 8 different beers. I tried, but found no beer that was at all noteworthy save for the Randy which was a grapefruit shandy (don't really consider this a beer). Their English Tami was a poor excuse for an english bitter and was not even drinkable. The food was very good. I had the Cuban sandwich and my brother had the gyro tacos. No fryers here so no fries available, not a big deal for me. Again, love the food and the atmosphere, but the beer was sorely lacking. I am hopeful that the beer will improve. read more

Held a birthday party in the town hall event room, the chef Justin did an excellent job helping me pick a menu and amount needed. Food was delicious and received positive comments from guests. Only had a small amount of leftovers so quantity was spot on. Charlie was dedicated to our group and made sure everyone had what they wanted or needed. We really liked this brewery. D and I stopped on Sunday late afternoon to listen to their live music. This is the first time I have ever been to the Sisters Lakes area and I only live about 25 minutes. What a beautiful area. The bar top is made from a local bowling alley lanes they tore down. It's really neat. Joe and his dad run a very nice establishment. There is lots of seating at the bar. Tall top tables scattered throughout. And large family style tables that seat lots of folks. I noticed there were also games in the corner for anyone to partake. We both ordered the Crooked Lake Cream Ale, which we liked. It is very light but hit the spot. They do have an extensive beer list, so I'm sure everyone can find something they like. Plus they have wine, cider, and soft drinks. I ordered The Redeemer sandwich, which was rare-roasted beef, caramelized onions, fresh chimichurri sauce and cheddar cheese. I ate the whole thing! D had the county Cuban, which is house-roasted pulled pork, capicola, swiss cheese, and house mustard. He said it was very good. Their menu consists of soups, salads, share-ables, and sandwiches. I did see a plate of nachos go by me and it looked delicious. Everyone there was super friendly from the owners, to the bar staff, to the folks sitting next to us. This place is amazing. The beer is some of the best local brew you can find. The food did not disappoint and was served fast and it tasted fresh. We like to try different things. My wife got the Mac&Cheese with Vernors steamed pulled pork. WOW she said. I got the Granny Smith turkey bacon and brie sandwich. Every bite was great. I also got the coleslaw. We were looking for a different place to eat and thought we would try Sister Lakes Brewing. We had been here before and the beer seemed decent and the food was okay at that time. I got the brisket sandwich while my wife tried the pulled pork. Unfortunately the food was sub-par while the beers were just okay. The brisket, while having a decent flavor, was thin and full of fat and the bread was soggy. The pulled pork sandwich was also lacking in flavor and very dry. I have heard great things about this brewery so when we were invited for dinner we said yes. When you enter it is a nice atmosphere with old Sister Lakes signs and some modern art. It has a game area with board games and a foosball table so it sets a nice environment for a bar on the lake. The tables are all lined up family style but still very relaxing. One of the great things is that they have a lot of very well placed sound baffles. We were right next to the live entertainment and it sounded good; we were able to carry on a group conversation. The service was great.They were slow so they were over attentive but not in a bad way. They were also very knowledgeable of the beers and menu as I asked very specific questions. As far as the beer: I had a flight of some of their dark beers, porters and stouts. I also had a heifeweisen and a lemon cream ale. The best of all of them was the Hefeweizen which surprised me because I prefer a good dark beer. It was very smooth and you could taste what you could smell in the aroma. As far as the darks, they really did not match their descriptions with the aroma or bouquet. By no means were they bad, they just were not special. The food was surprisingly good for bar food. The Redeemer, a roast beef and cheddar with caramelized onions on a brioche bun, was a surprise. The chimichurri sauce really gave it a great boost and the rare roast beef was a higher end deli meat. The brisket nachos were tri-color chips with nacho sauce and food service brisket but it was not a low end brisket, it had a really nice smoke. Overall it was very enjoyable evening and I would go back with a group. I would not go back just for the food but if I was there I would not hesitate to order off of the menu. Wonderfully tucked away brewery in Michigan right next to the Sister Lakes. The staff was very welcoming - they have a large tasting room. This would be a great brewery to go with large groups. They had lots of games and TV's to watch sports etc. They have a good variety of beers and food options available. Naturally, I went with the flight and tried several different varieties of beer. My favorites were Hefe' Duschene and Day Starter - Coffee Brown Ale. We had the pretzel. Overall, would definitely come back and bring more friends next time! read more

At about 8:20 lights went out on cooler and were rushed out by 8:25. Asking for cashing out. Ok if you say your open till 9:00. Why are we rushed out by 8:30? Great beers. It's the reason you visit a brewery. Once you try the beers, get some food. We're sitting in the biergarten out back and listening to live music on a Saturday evening. The food is great too. We had the Van Buren salad which consisted of lettuce, pulled pork, potato, and an amazing blue cheese dressing. We also had smoked chicken. Their food is fantastic and I personally love the 50 Cent popcorn :-) The customer service is exactly what you're looking for in a home town brewery. They are friendly and care about you as a person. They appreciate people new to the area and people that have been coming here for 35 years like my family. Every time we go there someone always comes to our table to ask how our family is doing. Delicious! I decided on a flight, the Hefe' is a delightful pale beer, German wheat, and a hint of banana-which sounds odd but is actually quite tasty! The S.S. Chicora, named after a shit that sunk in Lake Michigan is terrific, award winning. The King of the Raft is a bit more citrus & very refreshing. The Pontoon Ride is 8% and will sneak up on you, it is so delicious that you could easily get too drunk before you know it. Make sure to watch your portions on that one! I ordered the Sean Connery, and was not disappointed, everything is yummy. It is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the visit. Lovely decor, perfect for lake life, the bartender was a wonderful lady, no name tag, but blue hair, and she took care of my every need without being in my face. She actually chose 2 of the beers that I sampled and did an excellent job of it. You won't be disappointed if you make the drive out here, it is the perfect kind of place for an easy beer break. Beers were GREAT! Server, Lexi, was friendly & knowledgable about the beer & menu. Very polite & fast service. Our table tried a variety of foods. Pulled pork nachos were my favorite but wish they were layered instead of everything on the top. The veggie grilled cheese needs some sort of dipping sauce to it. The flank sandwich also needs to be cut up more but it was tasty! Brisket sandwich was not good - FATTY! Watermelon and sausage platter, VERY GOOD. read more
