I've been buying kegs from Final Gravity Brewery in Decatur, MI for years, and they've always been fantastic. Recently, I had an issue keeping pressure in my kegerator and went through three CO tanks trying to figure it out. I reached out to the brewery, and Mike Christensen got back to me almost immediately. He actually came out to my house the next morning, diagnosed the issue (missing gasket on the CO line), installed a full CO tank, upgraded my coupler--and refused to take any payment. He just said, "Enjoy the beer--we stand behind what we sell." Incredible service and even better people. Final Gravity goes above and beyond, and I wish more companies operated like they do. read more

We came here for my sister in law's birthday at 7pm. We ordered appetizers. We waited over 2 hours for our food. They ran out of chicken wings. Our food still did not come after 2 hours. They were not apologetic at all. Unacceptable!!!!!!! We left after 2-1/2 hours of waiting for our food. By the time we left other restaurants in town were closed. We were starving! Stopped in to grab a few of their beers to try at home. Staff was masked up and they were making patrons abide by social distancing. They are a small place inside, but had a large patio. The staff was super friendly. The beers have been really good: an ale with lime; an outstanding brown ale; a tasty trapists ale and a refreshing cream style lightened with corn. If you are unable to stay for a few it is worth stopping to get a bunch of their beers to go. read more

Love this small local brewery! Outside of about 9 beers on tap that they brew, they had two ciders and a decent wine selection (Fenn Valley). There's about 10 barstools, and maybe six tables (one community style). They have a tent outside the building with a heater but still pretty cool. So, the food!!! Started with goat cheese bruschetta and wow, will be going back for that. Had a half order of chili cheese nachos and a pizza too. The pizza is very popular there. But the nachos were soooo good. There chili is homemade and had hunks of pork in it. Yum! We will definitely be back!! read more

Favorite brewery ever, limited seating but if you can get a seat, take it! Super friendly staff, their eye opener beer and corn creamer are my faves and the mulled cider in the fall and winter. I had a Vanilla Nut Brown and was very disappointed because the beer tasted flat. I then ordered The One IPA and was yet again hit with the same flat taste. I liked the flavors of both beers, however it was difficult to enjoy with the missing carbonation. I was, however, very pleased with my pulled pork sandwich! It was very flavorful and the portion size was generous. I learned that the smoking of the pork was actually done in house, and well done at that! I'm looking forward to returning and giving the beer another go! read more

We went there because we saw that they had lot of reviews and thought it must be popular but it was probably one of the worst restaurant that I've been to in Decatur. It was incredibly hot inside and the Ac wasn't working, so we sat outside and there wasn't even a fan when it was 90 degrees outside. The food was pretty decent but it was pretty sad that they made the servers work in over 90 degree heat. read more

You don't really expect to find a restaurant with this quality of food in a one stop light town. Wonderful home made soups, entrees and desserts. Hometown friendly employees. As if this wasn't enough to recommend the Final Gravity Brewing Co., this is a microbrewery. A first rate microbrewery that boasts of 7 on tap and have brewed up to 140. On weekends they go all out with something for everyone like slushees (wine or beer). Guess what Kalamazoo; the Final Gravity is coming to town. You are going to love it. read more

I've lived in Decatur since this place opened. I've seen it go from YES, please to a huge NO THANKS... I'll pass and I'd rather cook And I do not like to cook. The food is ok. Much better at first but the menu is quite limited, never changes Nor are there ever any specials and it's overpriced for the quality and size of their servings. That was my opinion at the beginning but the food was still good. Now I can honestly say I haven't got a meal from there where half the ingredients were left off and my meal wasn't cold or messed up. That was only after trying to place an order where the first two things I originally wanted had been removed from their already limited menu. Just goes to show what bad staffing and management can do to a normally good restaurant with an otherwise abundance of potential. I understand there has been a worldwide problem with understaffing but the staff that was there as of recently has become quite crass for my taste. read more

My wife is the beer drinker and she loves their beers--more than Bell's, more than Paw Paw Brewing, or any of the other local brewpubs. I've always liked their food, especially their pizzas, which, on a good day, are among the best in SW Michigan. We are vegan, so we often get the Mediterranean or Greek pizzas, modified not to have cheese and swapping in artichoke hearts and/or bringing our own cheese. They used to have a killer hummus but I think they've taken it off the menu. The pizza crust is really good! Wish they had a bit more variety for vegans to eat, but we're probably a small fraction of their business -- it is Decatur after all. The place is small and the atmosphere is low-key, a beautiful old downtown storefront with tall tin ceilings, usually not too noisy and (thankfully) without giant TVs covering every surface of wall. Staff are generally friendly and accommodating, and they sometimes have live music on the outdoor patio in the summer. One of our favorite places and almost certainly the best thing about Decatur! :) read more

Final Gravity is sure to please. It is run by a father and son team. Our family stopped here for dinner. My husband and I love trying new breweries and it is always nice when we can bring the kids along. They loved the place. There is a shelf with games and coloring books for the kids to use before eating dinner. Our kids enjoyed the food. They ordered a salad, a kids pizza and grilled cheese. As for my husband and I, we were very pleased as well. The beer was great. Five beers were listed on the menu. When we ordered a flight they included a sixth Peanut butter Stout that they had just finished, just wasn't chilled yet. It was delicious. We also liked the IPA and the Vanilla Nut Brown was great! Food was awesome! My husband had the muffelata sandwich. Great. I had pulled pork sandwich. Awesome. We will be going back for sure. read more

We were heading from Chicago and Milwaukee to Ann Arbor and decided to stop off from 94. Just a few minutes down the road we found some very well created brews and good food. The pulled pork was our favorite. We really liked the smoked wings too. They were meaty, juicy, and had an excellent smokey flavor. We had the parmesan garlic (great amount of parmesan) and buffalo (well flavored, not a saucy) and both were excellent. There is a hot Asian available also. Staff was great. The bar smelled of fresh brewed mash. I had the Rock IPA, which was called a west coast, but was less bright and citrus flavored than I think of a west coast. However I liked it better than your average west coast IPA. The FG Porter was a solid porter, roasted and dark without being heavy in the stomach, but nice ABV. Wife and I have stopped for a beer or two along with a pizza a few times in the past year. This Time it was a special trip because she had enjoyed Thier PeanutButter Stout and they only brew it ever so often and had noticed it was going to be tapped again . Place was not that busy . We sat at the bar and she ordered the Peanutbutter stout and I ordered The One. And we also ordered a pizza. When I asked my wife if she enjoyed her beer she said no. Which suprised me , She had so enjoyed it last time we planned a special trip from Saint Joe just for it. She said it could not have been the same recipe, I tasted it . It seemed flat to me also my beer the one also seemed flat and sour. Next the pizza arrived we were not inpressed at all. Pizza was bland and had no flavor. Nothing special like we had had before . The crust was hard and over baked. Not sure if the owners have changed but the quality in beer and food has drastically dropped. Will not waste the gas to drive thier again . read more

They have a great ipa and great at tenders. I had a miscommunication problem with mike ( his word against mine) he said that I ordered a corn beer, which is a lighter beer. I enjoy ipa's so I wouldn't order a corn beer that is for bud light drinkers. When I went to cash out he charged me for the corn beer that I didn't drink or touch and told me that i told him to pour the beer. (Which I didn't) he demanded that I told him that I told him to pour the corn beer and continued to charge me for the beer that I didn't drink. Then some local who was at a high school football game (he had to be at least 35) his kid certainly didn't play high school football, try to strong arm me with the bar tender. My freind is a local, he was a pro basketball player and moved to the town and told me that they weren't the best with customer service. I should have listen! Stopped by here while on the way home from somewhere. This place is small, they really need to expand. We walked in and no one greeted us so we continued walking to patio area where we asked someone on staff (which later we think was either a part owner or manager or something) if we just say anywhere and he said yes however we sat there for over 8 or more minutes with no one speaking to us and mind you it was not full, finally we asked someone again if we could get some service and then was taken care of. First time here for a Saturday afternoon jam session. Not a big beer drinker, but I tried the mojito beer and liked it. The patio was very busy. The food looked good. My friend had the pizza and said it was very delicious. Unfortunately, the wait staff forgot to put in her order so she waited nearly an hour for it. This place was formerly known as Patchwork brewing and is now called Final Gravity. The inside is a cool old storefront that reeks of character and charm with all the wood and glass front. It makes you feel like you took a small step back in time. The guy...bartender behind the counter had a little less than a charming personality to go along with the cool vibe that the place could have. The beer was kind if lack luster for an up and coming microbrew place and the day we were there, the selection was down to 3 beers. Because Decatur is kind of out of the way and because they don't have anything that really appeals to me, I may only venture down there if I am traveling through to someplace else. They have great potential but have to consider a better product that appeals to beer geeks from all over. I saw on Facebook recently that they are making more beer in a bigger setup so they don't run out. I guess this is a good problem to have and I will review them again after they get their stuff together. read more
