As others had mentioned, I never leave reviews but I felt I had to do so for this business. My mom and I attended this estate sale. When we arrived, we were warmly encouraged to take our time and explore every room in the house. It was a large home, and we spent a considerable amount of time carefully looking through everything before selecting a few items. One of the sisters gave us a bundled price, and because they only accepted cash, we left a $200 deposit and returned later with the remaining balance after continuing to browse. Before paying, I decided to exchange one of the rugs for a different one. That's when everything changed. The other sister quoted me a different price than the first. I wasn't trying to negotiate or get a discount--I was simply trying to explain that I had already been given a different price. Instead of letting me clarify, I was repeatedly interrupted and talked over. Because my mom doesn't speak English, I had to pause occasionally to translate the conversation for her which seemed to infuriate the sister handling the money even more. Rather than showing patience, she became increasingly frustrated. I was ready and willing to give her the amount she was asking for but not after she blew up all of a sudden, very unprofessional and immature. What should have been a simple conversation over a pricing misunderstanding between the two of them quickly escalated into her yelling at me in front of everyone attending the estate sale. I never raised my voice, argued, or spoke disrespectfully. I stood there in complete shock while she continued yelling. My mom had no idea what was happening, and everyone around us stopped to watch. It was one of the most humiliating customer experiences I've ever had. We had spent so much time in the home because we were encouraged to do so, were genuinely excited about our purchases, and then were publicly embarrassed over a misunderstanding that wasn't of our making. As we left, we were told, "Don't ever come back." I asked for my $200 deposit back, and even that became unnecessarily difficult. While we were walking down the long driveway to our car, one of the sisters came after us, acknowledged that she had told us not to come back and apologized , and tried to convince us to return and complete the purchase. By that point, the damage had already been done. After being publicly yelled at and humiliated, there was no way I felt comfortable giving them my business. After we left, I looked up the business online because I was honestly trying to make sense of what had happened. I was saddened to find reviews describing experiences that felt very similar to mine. As unfortunate as that is, it reassured me that my mom and I weren't the only ones who had been treated this way. That made me even more disappointed because it suggests this may not have been an isolated incident. Mistakes happen, especially when items aren't individually priced and totals are bundled. I could have understood a pricing mistake. What I cannot understand is treating customers with hostility, yelling at them in front of a crowd, and creating such an embarrassing scene over a simple misunderstanding. Every customer deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and professionalism. Very rude and very condescending. I've spent over 50 years in the business world and have owned two businesses. Never, have I seen such disrespect and distain for customers. My wife and I experienced this at an estate sale in Lake Forest last week. First, they don't price anything. They ask you to bring it to the "transaction area" where they then look at what you want to purchase and give you a price. So, they gave us a crazy price and we negotiated. Her response with disgust was "where do you think you are...an Evanston garage sale?" Each time we negotiated for a lower price, she responded with demeaning comments. And then of course there's the experience of hearing the two women running the sale, yelling at each other. (not sure if they are sisters). After the purchase, my wife asked one of the sisters if we could bring our car up the driveway to pick up the merchandise and was given the A-OK. But once we pulled up, another "sister" came up and yelled at my wife for pulling into the driveway. I don't see why anyone would ever hire this group. Absolutely Disgusting Behavior - Do NOT Shop Here I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about the absolutely horrible experience my daughter and I had at Sister Sales today. We were shopping peacefully and picked out 5 small items--none were name-brand and a couple were obviously from Shein, which are typically low-cost online. When we politely asked if they were open to negotiating the $150 total price (which was shockingly high for what we selected), the staff completely lost it. Instead of responding professionally, one of the women snatched two items--both belonging to my daughter--straight out of her hands and started screaming at us. They caused a full-on scene, yelling that we were "too broke" to shop there and making a spectacle out of the situation in front of everyone. It was humiliating, aggressive, and downright unacceptable behavior from any business, let alone one that's trying to sell discount fast fashion for luxury prices. No customer deserves to be treated like that--especially not a child. This place is the definition of unprofessional, rude, and delusional about their pricing and quality. Their sale in Northbrook this year was my first one. I had never been to one without items priced, so took only one tote of items, and watched the transactions before I joined the line. NEVER saw anyone belittled, and my purchase was an excellent price. The Lake Forest sale again one bag of excellent price. Again only pleasant sellers and place was jammed with buyers. This week it was the Skokie sale and $5 was definitely another bargain from delightful ladies. I no longer go at opening, so perhaps some of the chaos that might be happening has resolved. Buyers need to have their money ready and know what they want to pay before joining the line. Sorry others had some issues, but hope they might reconsider. read more

I can honestly say that this was BY FAR, the most abuse I have ever received any sale in my life I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. I was screamed at as well as other that were thrown out for no reason. Just a horrible mess. We went to our neighbor's sale in Wilmette. They should be called the screaming sisters or swearing sisters. I have never heard such verbal abuse towards customers. Nothing was priced. The owner's medications were on the countertop. The home was a mess. There were items strewn all over the house, on the floor, stairs, closets, hindering movement. Someone had a huge pile of items they were buying. One of the sisters said $200. The other person said $20. They sister swore at the person calling them cheap, "were not in Skokie" and told them to "get out of here." The other woman countered and offered $25 which the sister agreed to. They then gave the person free items. "Go ahead just take it." The same abuse occurred multiple times while we were there. There were only two employees in the house, both in the same room and no one else. The sale was understaffed and people were taking advantage of the situation. If you are looking for steals of a deal this is the perfect place for you as long as you can tolerate their verbal abuse. If you intend on hiring them you should attend one of their "give your home away for free" sales first so you know what you are getting into. Just a horrible mess. read more

I have been picking for longer than they have been in business. generally this is a really nice community. These owners decided I was unfit to spend my money with them. After reading the previous reviews I was wondering if I was at the same sales as the other reviewers. I've attended many of the sales presented by 'The Sisters' and have never had a bad experience. I have found that the sisters add an energy to their sales and complement each other. My wife and I have been going to Estate/Garage/Rummage/Tag sales for over 40 years and have seen it all. If you are expecting the service you get at Von Maur or Nordstrom, then by all means shop there, this is an estate sale. The staff at these sales have always been cordial and helpful. As far as pricing, the prices are pretty much the same as all the other Estate sale companies, and yes on the last day they try to move items. Most families just want the stuff out of the house any way, so what's wrong with moving it out at a discounted price or giving away something that might end up in dumpster anyway? We will continue to attend these sales. read more

Bullies. SS is wild; I genuinely don't know how they're in business. The blond sister with rimmed glasses that everyone else has written about here (Traci Groff) is truly the rudest and most malicious stranger I've ever met. At a recent estate sale, she treated multiple customers overtly rudely, told them to "shut up" when anyone talked, made a 6 year old girl cry from pushing her, almost slapped a female client, touched customers on the back inappropriately, displayed (not so) subtle racism against her minority assistant and yelled constantly. We were in the house for 15 minutes and it was pure chaos. She exclaimed things such as: "you do what I say in this house!", bossed everyone around, and was miserable to be around. When tactfully told we requested she speak in a different tone to customers (and not tell them to shut up), she immediately refused and continued to treat people poorly. I've never had a more stressful or upside-down experience in my life. The thing is, she will readily admit she's mean, rude, and cruel, but there is no remorse or change in behavior. This is a nice community and it was shocking to see her blatant disregard for humans so starkly and quickly. She is the most important person in the Northshore and will let you know about it. To conclude our fun meeting, when asked for her name, she slammed the door in customers' faces and said "bye-bye". We'll never be back and I know they don't care. read more

Zero stars. It seems *okay* when you're shopping around, but the other sister managing the house will scream at you while you try to delicately move your furniture purchases. Don't be fooled. I brought a highly-rated professional moving crew from a local company (well-known and reputable) to move a large item and the woman harassed me, my husband, and the crew for the entire 30 minutes. She counted down from 5 to two of my crew members because she wanted to take them outside on the sidewalk and yell at them (which she then did). I immediately wanted to pull my sale of the item (it's not worth it at this point!), but she told me to shut up. She distracted the crew to high heavens as they professionally navigated a very difficult transport without a single scratch, ding, or mistake. I've truly never met a meaner person, and I've dealt with some mean people in my career. She called me a little know-it-all when I said that we all wanted to get the furniture piece out without scratching the house. On a scale of 1 to 10, this confrontation ranks at 100 .
