Seth D. Schraier was assigned to represent me on or about 2024 in a New York Family Court child…read moresupport violation matter. Throughout the representation, communication was inconsistent. Calls I was asked to make went unanswered or were not returned, and requests for updates often went unresolved. Despite being counsel of record, I was repeatedly asked what actions I wanted taken, rather than being provided with clear legal strategy and proactive guidance. I also had a confidential address on file. Seth stated he would redact my medical records before submission to the court and did not do so, which resulted to serious purge demand being $10,000 or "bringing my toothbrush" to my next court appearance. After the Support Magistrate issued a willfulness finding, I asked counsel to object and submit properly redacted medical documentation. That was not done as requested. At a later appearance, counsel stated on the record that certified medical records had been subpoenaed, but this did not occur when initially requested. These delays and omissions contributed to adverse outcomes in my case. Clients deserve timely communication, clear legal direction, and follow through. My experience fell short of that standard.

His incompetence has caused lasting harm to my child and resulted in major financial losses. ________________________________________ UPDATE: Years later, his lies and negligence still haunt my case. He repeatedly promised the agreement was coming "next week" or "Monday," but it never arrived. Schraier is a pathological liar who failed me and my child. Instead of taking responsibility, his response to my review was: "Paul, considering that it's been 3.5 years since your case and my legal representation ended, it's clear that something recent has caused you a lot of emotion and grief, and I hope that you get whatever help you can to get you through this." This fake concern is nothing more than an attempt to deflect from the fact that he walked out on a paid contract and failed his client. Instead of addressing his professional failures, he tried to dismiss my experience as personal grief. His response is insulting and a blatant attempt to shift blame. I urge anyone considering him to investigate thoroughly before hiring. ________________________________________ DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE HIRING ANY LAWYER: Call at least three past clients for references. Compare him with other attorneys before making a costly mistake. Read unbiased reviews from multiple sources, not just the ones he promotes. ________________________________________ SUMMARY OF HIS FAILURES: 1. ABANDONED A PAID CONTRACT & LIED ABOUT IT * Ignored 20+ emails about the support agreement. * Lied repeatedly, saying it was coming "next week." * Eventually stopped responding entirely, forcing me to pay for costly legal fixes. * The opposing lawyer had already agreed to lower support, yet Schraier failed to act. Result: Financial devastation and emotional strain. 2. POOR NEGOTIATOR - AVOIDED WORK * He was outmaneuvered by opposing counsel and failed to secure a fair agreement. * He negotiated directly from the opposing lawyer's draft and only made changes when I explicitly told him to. * His delays and weak strategy made my situation worse. Result: A bad agreement that harmed me and my child. 3. CONFLICT OF INTEREST WITH OPPOSING LAWYER * I asked if he had a conflict of interest with opposing counsel since he had upcoming cases with her. * He denied any conflict, but his weak negotiation and failure to advocate for me raised major concerns. Result: My case may not have been his priority. 4. DISHONEST BILLING PRACTICES * He bid very low to win the case but then failed to do the necessary work. 5. UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRESPONSIVE & UNPREPARED FOR COURT * Ignored key legal deadlines and responded slowly to urgent issues. * Waited until the last minute to prepare me for court. * Was frequently late to hearings, leaving me unprepared. * Opposing counsel had to remind him to complete his own promised work! Result: Weak legal representation, stress, and costly delays. 6. PRESSURED ME TO ACCEPT A BAD AGREEMENT * He knew it was a terrible deal but pressured me to sign anyway. * Ignored critical evidence that would have helped my case. * The opposing attorney rushed in a last-minute draft before court, and Schraier didn't object. Result: A custody and support agreement that left me and my child worse off. 7. NEGLIGENCE & FAILURE TO ACT ON EVIDENCE * My ex violated most of the prior agreement, and Schraier failed to act. * He did not address compliance issues or seek court protections for my child. * He dismissed parental alienation as a past issue that couldn't be helped. Result: My child was harmed, and the violations continued unchecked. ________________________________________ FINAL WARNING: AVOID THIS LAWYER AT ALL COSTS Finally - a note on these rating sites. They are not honest. There are a few things that happen: 1 - There are companies that go to lawyers and promise to get good reviews on these sites. Schraier especially uses this method of getting business. 2 - Basically - an easy case - you think he did well and they get a good review out of the client. Difficult case or one that Schraier abandons like mine - and you get screwed but it is overwhelmed by the "good" reviews. 3 - Avvo in particular is a referral site for lawyers - DO YOU THINK THEY ARE HONEST? You know the answer. Cheaters like Schraier depend on that. You lose - your money, your child, and regret it for a lifetime.
