I won't use anyone else. Vanessa is the best! We have left our boys (cats) with her on two separate occasions and they are always very well taken care of. First off, I LOVE that you can make arrangements online. This just works for me because by the time I think of setting up a pet sitter it is either the middle of the night or I am somewhere where making a phone call is not easily done. Super helpful! Second, when Vanessa first came over to my house my boys fell in love with her. Even my shy guy. She wasn't in the door for 5 minutes before he was trying to climb up her leg. Some people are just animal whisperers - Vanessa is one of those people. Their rates are super awesome and I feel like I am getting a good deal while my boys are well taken care of. Win - win! And finally, I get pictures while I am away! I love that! I wake up in the mornings while I am on vacation and there is a pic of one of my guys hanging out looking happy at home. And when we do get home it is like we never left. They don't seem anxious from being alone, everything is neat and clean and their food and water is always full. Wow!!! We have used "Sit Stay" many times and are always impressed! I can go on and on about the peace of mind, cleanliness, dependability, how calm our pets are, etc., etc.. Do you ever come home from long work days or a weekend out of town and your dog is out of control looking for attention? Having "Sit Stay" stop by for walks/checkups is SO worth it. Our dog Buddha is so calm and just a little darling after their visits. It is almost like he just comes up to us all cool when we walk through the door and says, "Hey, let me tell you about all the fun I had today...." But here is the best part for us - We have chickens, one of which is about a year old and had yet to lay a single egg. We tried everything from the feed to putting fake eggs in her nest box. We just started to assume after a while that she was a dud. When we recently returned from an extended weekend away, what do you know, she is laying like crazy now! We joke about how Vanessa just has a magic touch with animals. I know about 10 other people who also use Sit Stay, all through referrals. I recently used Sit. Stay. Ahwatukee Pet Sitting to take care of our Bengal cat, Bentley, for nine days while my husband and I travelled back to the Midwest. It was a great experience, and we will definitely use them again. I am a little (okay, a lot) neurotic when it comes to my fur baby. I appreciated that not once was I made to feel like a crazy person when it came to giving detailed instructions on how to take care of Bentley. Vanessa and I met prior to my vacation, and I gave her a tour and showed her where everything was. She was professional and pleasant, and lived super close to our home. While we were away, Bentley received daily visits and I received daily text messages and photos to keep us updated on him. I was happy to receive the texts, since I was a bit worried leaving him for so long and with a new pet-sitter. Bre, Vanessa and Susan all helped to take care of Bentley, and each of them sent sweet text messages which assured me my baby was well-taken care of. When we arrived home I found a detailed log of the daily visits, which I also appreciated. We plan to add another fur baby to our family (perhaps a Greyhound) in the near future. Prior to moving to the area Vanessa was the first one I contacted to ensure she would be available to visit my two fur babies. I travel quite a bit for both business and pleasure and I NEVER have to worry about Dog care. Description of Work Done: I have used "Sit. Stay. Ahwatukee Pet Sitting" on two separate occasions. I have three young kittens that they sat for multiple days. Typically they check up on them two times a day. I wouldn't even think about using anyone but "Sit. Stay. Ahwatukee Pet Sitting". Quality of Work Completed: It really feels like they do a great job. Susan was the person who took care of them while my fiance and I were gone. The cats seemed to have been looked after pretty well and Susan took out the cat litter every day she visited. Susan leaves a daily note about our cats and the notes aren't half-assed. I took a snapshot of an example and posted it here on Yelp. She also sent my fiance a text about every day to let us know how the kittens are doing. 10 out of 10. Value: They don't nickle and dime you. My fiance and I have used three cat sitters in the area. This outfit is the least expensive and you get the most bang for the buck. 10 out of 10. Customer Service: Susan was always extremely quick to return phone calls and texts. She was also incredibly friendly and respectful. I totally trust her taking care of our kittens and respecting our privacy. There is one thing I really hate to bring up, but I think it is important. My home security system had two false alarms go off because "Sit. Stay. Ahwatukee Pet Sitting" couldn't get the system turned off, even when we gave them a remote to turn off the system. The second false alarm ended up costing us a good chunk of money with the City of Phoenix cops having to come out to my house. I bring this up not to slam Sit-Stay but so that in case you have a security system, I would encourage you to spend a good chunk of time going over the inner workings of it during your initial home consultation. This was only an issue the first time they cat set for us and there has been no problem since then. Don't let this one isolated issue deter you from using them as they are great at what they do and I can't think of a better pet sitter in the east valley. 8 out of 10. Overall: I couldn't imagine using anyone else to cat set for us. Susan is awesome at what she does. The short one: Use this company. I love them, couldn't be happier. Details: I used to have only family members watch my pets, but when I recently moved to Phoenix I was told "don't think we are coming there to watch your pets". lol So first I tried a national company's boarding services a couple of times, then a local boarding company, but my pets hated them all. I have two dogs and a cat. The cat thinks that he is a dog. Or maybe the dogs think they are cats. But either way, they are a pack. In the boarding situations the cat could not be in with the rest of his pack, and I think he would cry the entire time he was in "lockup". Since I go out of town at least monthly, I needed a solution. I found a solution and her name is Vanessa! Vanessa was great. I was paranoid and needy, sick with worry about my animals, but she talked me through the process, spent time with me to talk through the options and suggested what was appropriate. I told her that if my pets needed extra visits or someone sleeping over to freely add those services. She was honest and only suggested what I needed and did not use my worry for my pets to "up-sell" me. How refreshing! So off we went on our trip--I was nervous, but Vanessa sent texts and pictures of my pets after each visit and I am not sure that they even missed us. She hunted down our shy-with-strangers cat to confirm that he was doing fine and reported her cat-sightings. When we came home, they were happy to see us, but they were relaxed and normal. When we would pick them up from boarding they were manic-happy to see us, like someone getting out of prison after doing hard time. I could not be happier with the difference in their response. I would also like to address the "bad review". Really bad-reviewer? I had three visits a day, morning, midday and evening. Vanessa sent a schedule to me. It was 7a, 3p, and 7p, I think. Did I get texts at exactly 7, 3, and 7? No. Did it matter? No. In fact, I think that would have bothered me. I wanted someone who handled what my pets needed, not a rigid schedule follower. From the texts that I received, Vanessa was responsive to my pets needs. That means she is responsive to her other clients' pets' needs, so maybe she comes at 7:07, I am grateful for that personal attention, and as far as I know, my pets can't tell time anyway. If I could leave zero stars I'm sorry to say I would. I gave this person a chance on more than one occasion, and am DONE and have found someone else. Sometimes it's necessary to separate one's impression/feelings about a person from what the reality is, and in my opinion, with this particular business, these are two completely different things. My dissatisfaction was a combination of irresponsibility in how people's security was handled (aka house keys left unsecured by a poorly chosen employee who had been an ongoing problem (why they were still employed is a good question)) and conscientious care of my dogs (no water) which was resulting from simply not making the effort to sufficiently fill their water bowl, which was often left half empty under the care of Sit Stay. A very pleasant, outgoing person and this is not personal, just a heads up in the event it's helpful to others. read more

In terms of service, it started off very fine but when it went left it did. It was challenging for us because basic instructions were not followed in how to successfully work with our dogs. Not cleaning up poo daily was the first red flag, then not using the command terms provided correctly was 2nd, then 3rd my dogs feeding area was moved to outside without approval. Last disappointment was Vanessa advising me while I'm on a business trip she was quitting service due to her discomfort with my larger GSD. I was clear we did not have fit but the tactic was what got me. So I cannot give a favorable review for this company, but I recommend when looking for a sitter to take reviews seriously (always factor constructive criticism vs personal rants) then make your decision from there. Sitters, often have experience with dogs and have a loving nature which is terrific but for a premium service, real skilled training may be required, so also consider that in your decision making. As the owner I play the biggest role in this not working out. My mistake was not ensuring the skill level was there for my dogs and actually taking the time to run through some drills/demos to see the handler in action. I can't leave a review and not provide something positive. The rates are worth you looking into this company, but be mindful every sitter is not for every dog. Vanessa is sweet and trustworthy to come into your home, so it was not surprising my dogs loved her. But the inconsistency in style, approach, coupled with unapproved changes to routine and handling didn't work out for us. read more

I've had Vanessa and her team watch my dogs twice. I feel so comfortable with them in my home and with my pups. They text me after they leave and send me pics. There has been times where I have asked her to make extra stops because I knew the dogs were getting restless and she is so accommodating. Vanessa rocks, my Husky adores her and most importantly.....she's an all around awesome human being. I trust her explicitly and she's the person I think of when I have doggie emergencies. When they told us they were selling their business, we were terrified of whether Sit. Stay. Pet Sitting would be a good fit. We could not be happier. Vanessa is incredibly flexible with our ever-changing schedule. We often have to call at the last minute for a visit, and it is never a problem. Once, I texted her that I had left my lunch on the table, and she went back to our house to put it in the fridge so the dogs would not eat it. If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would. I have been using Sit Stay Petsitting for about 7 years now I think and I can tell you firsthand they are wonderful and treat your "babies" as if they were their own! I have 1 dog and 2 cats and anytime I leave home for a few days I get regular texts and pictures that they are fine and happy which eases my mind and it's always great to see their happy faces. I just transitioned into longer work hours a few days a week and have them coming in for a couple of daily visits which is a live saver when you're leaving home at 6 am and not home til after 6 or 7 pm. I cannot tell you what a gift Vanessa Ryan was to me and my family this past month. We are fairly new to the Phoenix area and have no real support system here. My Dad died and I had to go to my hometown of Chicago for the funeral. I didn't want to travel alone in my state of mind but we had no one to watch our 2 dogs. I had chosen to use Sit and stay from reading reviews on the Internet, but later came to learn that I had their card in my purse the whole time given to me as a referral from our dog groomers. This further helped me feel that divine goodness was on our side with this choice. Vanessa could see and possibly feel my apprehension of leaving the dogs behind. She did so much to help us feel calm and trust they were in good hands. Additionally one of our dogs has bad separation anxiety. She was instrumental in working with him to be able to relax and stop his incessant barking while we were away. When she came to return our keys the dogs were so overjoyed to see her I knew that she would always be our choice. I can tell she genuinely cares for the animals.
